Let me start by saying I was way underdressed for this place walking in with a shirt and converse shoesπThe food was amazing. We had the fried scallops and lobster bisque.EntrΓ© was the duck and the lamb chops. Although the char on the lamb was a bit too much for me. It was still delicious. For desert the lemon cake and chocolate mousse did not disappoint. If you drink I recommend the French Martini. Yummmy.
We dined here for Valentineβs day and although the place was busy our service was above board, the food was incredible and delicious. We randomly chose this restaurant because we would be visiting the area and we were not disappointed. The chef asked us how the food was, our server Tailor constantly checked on us, and not once were we left wanting anything. The service, the food, the wine.... made the entire evening very special. Of course the company of my handsome husband sealed the deal βΊοΈ. I canβt stress this enough, the food was amazing! Definitely returning when we are in town again.
Our great experience began right when we entered the restaurant. The hostess kindly retrieved our reservation and escorted us to our table. Our server, Eric R., promptly came by, filled water and informed us of the specials. Our food (lobster bisque, warm goat cheese salad, specials--pork chop with pear salsa and crab cakes add dessert-warm apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream) were hot and delicious. Also, the icing on the cake was the personalized menu and marking our anniversary. Will definitely return.
We came here for our anniversary dinner and I cant say enough good things about this place! The food was 5 stars for sure, and the ambience was warm and intimate (exactly what youd want for your wedding anniversary!).My husband is the one who picked this restaurant, and it did NOT disappoint. I especially loved that you could see the chef preparing each dish individually right in front of us. At one point in our meal, he personally came by to ask how our food was (delicious - of course!).10 out of 10 for sure - I would love to come back anytime!
We just had the most amazing anniversary dinner! When we arrived, they had a menu printed for us that said, βHappy 23rd Anniversary!β This was such a wonderful personal touch! Our server, Brittany, was exceptional. Always there for anything we needed, but not hovering.I started off with a Pear Martini, and my husband had an Old Fashioned. I think I found a new favorite drink! β€οΈFor appetizers we had the Firecracker Shrimp and the Crab Cakes. I could have made a meal just out of the firecracker shrimp-jumbo shrimp with mushrooms, red peppers, carrots, and snap peas. The crab cakes tasted like pure crab-I couldnβt taste any filler, just the lump crab meat. For our main, my husband and I both had steak-I had the ribeye and my husband had the filet. They were both cooked exCrlu as we requested, along with the potatoes and vegetables. My husband said it was the best steak heβs ever had!We shared an apple crisp with ice cream for dessert. By this time we were so full we were only about to take a few bites. (I forgot to get a picture of it.)I have nothing negative to say about Cochonβs! If I could give it more than 5 βοΈ, I would!
Its a great place, the food was amazing. Definitely like to go again, might be I once in a couple months place to go. Its a like pricey but its worth it.
As local residents for over 35 years, this restaurant is most definitely one of the best in the Williamsburg area. This is where I would bring many of our friends to break bread and enjoy the lunch or evening. My favorite is the Wood grilled Scottish Salmon Caesar Salad. Hands down the best Ive ever had. Well worth stopping by and trying them out for yourself.
Exquisite meals simply prepared & served. Donβt get fooled with the simple menu. It is wonderful! Highly recommend it!
What a lovely place!!! The food was amazing. Allison was outstanding. Itβs always nice to have a super meal with great company.
Best salmon and au gratin potatoes Ive ever had! Worth the wait.
What a pleasure dine here. From the bread to the entrees there was great service and delicious food. There was no noise or bustle. We chose to split delicious Caesar salad and that left plenty of room for the main course. There was a great wine selection. Margaux and crusty bread satisfied us until our duck and tenderloin arrived. We had no room for dessert but overheard other diners rave about their choices. Close to the historical district, this is a wonderful spot to enjoy country French cuisine.
This is supposed to be a high-end haute-cuisine fine-dining place, and it does have some of those elements, but somehow it fails to achieve all. For a place like this, you expect expensive small plates, which make up for the small portions by the exquisite taste and design, right? Well, here you get larger portions but less haute cuisine! So, it seems to be somewhere between a fine dining and a regular restaurant, but man, they go with the fine-dining part when it comes to the check! All being said, we had a good time on Valentines night, and the ambience was adorable. Our server was really kind, but a bit preoccupied as she seemed to forget things over and over! Worth checking out if you are in town, but there are better French fine-dining options like Fat Canary in the area.
Beautiful dinner, start to finish!! Everything was cooked exquisitely and our server, David, was so friendly and helpful with our selections! Our son enjoyed his duck breast so much!
Excellent. Christina was great! And the whole staff was very helpful...
Anniversary dinner with this my beautiful wife of 5 years, this place never disappoints, I want to say thanks to Chef Neil, waitress terri, bar tender David, hostess Scarlett and all the staff for giving us another fantastic evening. We got married in Williamsburg 5 years ago and travel back every year. Thanks again for such a memorable night. ( Who needs Gordon Ramsey when you have Chef Neil Griggs. )
Definitely a go-to spot for dinner and can I say that Bri, our server, was awesome! Great dinner and great service. Were looking forward to our next date night here!
We had a wonderful dinner at Cochon on 2nd.The appetizers were amazing! From oyster cocktail, crab cakes to the grilled pork chop entree! The service was professional and very pleasant, we highly recommend this restaurant!
Wonderful for private parties! Delicious food and amazing service. Very cozy atmosphere.
My wife and I attended a charitable event thrown by Cochon on 2nd. We enjoyed live 50s music, delicious lemonade, and even better food! My wife had their salmon sandwich and she LOVED it. That will be a hard one to beat! I ordered their chicken lollipops and I cant tell you enough how worth it they were! If youre here for vacation or live here locally, I recommend considering Cochon on 2nd. The food is more on the expensive side, but its backed by amazing flavor and atmosphere.
This was only my second time dining here. Tonight I had the special which was a New York strip with asparagus and onion straws. The meal was pretty good. There werent many people here due to it being a Sunday night so it was rather quiet. I like the decor and the staff was friendly but need to try it again to give it a fair review.
Staff is amazing and the bar menu is really good. Awesome place.
Top of the line.. by far the best restaurant we have been to since we moved here (and weve gone out a lot while our kitchen was packed up :)
At dinner with my wife and mom. Wow wonderful from the oysters appetizers to the red snapper. Duck was amazing. David our server was the best make suggestions.
Me and my girlfriend came for a special getaway weekend. Found this place based on the reviews. When I called ahead for a reservation and explained it was our 2 year anniversary. They made it an extra special night. From a special happy anniversary menu to all the staff greeting us and saying happy anniversary. They went way above and beyond to make our night special and unforgettable. Taylor was our waitress from order to dessert. She was on point. Food was outstanding. Will definitely come here to reminisce about this awesome experience. Thank you Taylor and staff for all you did.
We visited last night and had Christy. She is amazing!
Atmospheric, quiet and intimate with a nice open kitchen. The food is, in my opinion, the best in Williamsburg. Our server was a very charming and open young lady who was able to hold real conversation while being one of two servers on the floor and having someone shadow her. She didnt miss a beat.As someone who has worked front of house in this level of dining before and I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of food and service.
Great food! Great service!
Artfully constructed dishes that taste even better than they look. Every dish was better than expected. Dont miss this spot if your looking for dishes that deliver!
2017-08-10 called to make reservation, arrived, was greeted by personnel, and seared immediately, Shawnah was our server and she was very nice and very good, she told us about the specials, we asked her for her recommendations, and we did almost all the specials available, we enjoyed the green tomato salad and new England clan chowder (tasted very unique), we also enjoyed the entrees (pan seared salmon and new York strip steak), Nikki let us in the door and remembered us and made us feel welcome, and Melissa stopped by our table to speak. Thank you Cochon on 2nd!9 months prior, I said, Repeat customer. Excellent and unique dining experience. Food is great, personnel is great, decor and menu is excellent!
Fabulous. My steak brought a tear to my eye. My martini was flawless. The only reason itβs not 5 stars is that itβs just a bit too pricey. Iβd give it 4.5 stars if I could.
Had a great anniversary dinner,Gazpacho, Whole Red Snapper, Lamb, Salmon, were all cooked to perfection
Excellent place.Had 4 wonderful meals and service was great. Will definitely come back when we come back to Williamsburg.
The food was excellent, the service was a solid 3, but the manager Neal was rude obnoxious and ruined the experience. We had preplanned for a party of 20 where 5 people were no shows. We all came from out of state and the weather had turned, so... While we made sure to meet the food and beverage minimum, Neal made sure to address me at the end of the meal in front of the othet guests to aggressively expain how he told me the rules. 1st I didnt speak with Neal... but we did meat the minimums discussed despite the no shows. He stated that I was in a deficit but did not offer an amount but then stated that it was a $20 no show fee and to give it to the servers. Neal and his nastiness ruined my anniversary, but he got his extra $100 so it was a success for him!
Very disappointing! My husband and I went to Cochon for what we were hoping to be a nice, relaxing meal. Unfortunately it was anything but. I ordered the filet mignon cooked medium rare, which was served to me well done. I know everybody makes mistakes, but how this so called sous-chef handled it was very unprofessional. Keep in mind, Cochon has an open kitchen and when he was told, he started throwing plates, slamming oven doors and uttering rude comments. I was told by the wait staff this guy used to be a celebrity chef for TS. The way he cooked, but even more so how he acted, I donβt believe it.
Food was amazing! And the staff was very nice!
We dined at Cochon this past week. It was one of the best meals weβve had lately. Service was outstanding!! Atmosphere was great! Love, love the fireplace!
First let me say the food and service are wonderful here. Thats where the three stars given are minimally warranted. Unfortunately, any higher of a rating becomes difficult to justify. When I dine out, especially at an establishment where one expects to spend $50-$75 on food, I expect a certain level of comfort. We all expect chefs, servers, and owners to know how not to get us sick, whether it be from safe food handling, proper hand washing, or more currently, wearing masks. An open kitchen is a beautiful thing to see, but it reveals to the guest the standards the food theyre about to eat is prepared at. When an owner comes close to a large party, all without masks, touches guests, and then proceeds into the kitchen to interact with mask-less staff, touching plates that go to other tables without washing hands first, especially all in view of the guests, this makes other guests uncomfortable. When guests at different tables are kept a mere 3 ft apart during a pandemic, this makes guests uncomfortable. When the bartender shakes the hand of a mask-less guest, pats him on the back, then pours a beverage for a table without washing his hands, this makes the guest uncomfortable. It is this sort of negligence and disregard for common sense (and in some cases, mandated) practices that will be keeping me from ever returning. I hope you are able to improve your standards, especially ones you seem to expect your servers to follow which they manage without issue, so that you may not lose another customer by creating an uncomfortable eating environment. My food was wonderful, if only I had been able to enjoy it.
Incredible service and amazing food. Delightful atmosphere. What else do you need?
Wow, best porkchop and potatoes cake, one of best meals ever. I was disappointed that they didnt have gentlemans ice for old fashioned but their version was actually decent without it. I almost did 4 stars because the crab bisque had like no crab pieces in it and was a lil sweet for some reason, but because the other was so good I gave 5 stars
Really great ambiance and service. Brianna is an outstanding server! Did an outstanding effort to make us feel comfortable with sitting inside after having to close outside seating due to weather. And most importantly, the food was absolutely incredible, from start to finish! Hands down, the best restaurant/food/service in town!!
Great food and even better bartender
Great meal, great service!
Great food, atmosphere and service. The lamb was perfect as well as the gratin potatoes. A++. Thanks!
The food was, as usual, top notch. But the service was not up to their usual standards.
Disappointed with my first experience at Cochon. Host was very rude when I needed to ask a question - responded with a harsh what with negative body language, but very polite with everyone else.... Left a bad taste and I left, will not be back.
Amazing food and great service! The duck was cooked to perfection. The special potato was wonderful. Cant wait to go back.
First visit, for my daughters 27th birthday courtesy of grandparents. Delicious food, pleasant staff, even prepared me a custom vegetarian plate.
Great Fare and fellowship.
Very nice atmosphere. Great food
We just had the most delightful meal. Tuna appetizer, scallops and ribeye steak. All of the food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and we got to sit right next to the Iron-Chef style open kitchen. Watching the professional chefs craft our meal was ALMOST better than eating it. We will be back.
Great food, great service and great personnel. ππ½
Absolutely awesome food and staff. We highly recommend it.
This was an absolutely beautiful experience. The decor is impressive and yet still manages to bring a sense of being at home. The warmth, low lighting, and quiet music all make each table feel as intimate as an afternoon on a fur rug infront of a fireplace. We joined for the set Valentines Day dinner experience and were brought through an array of flavours and spices. Ribs that were mouth watering and a crab cake perfectly seasoned. Salads that were crisp and fresh. The Rocket Arugula, mind you dear reader Ive never said this impossible sentence in all my years, was hands down my favourite dish that night. The entrΓ©es were much larger then we expected, only bringing more joy to our heavenly night. Succulent chicken breast with potatoes au gratin. Finally we come to dessert, banana fosters with banana bread pudding and french vanilla creme brule. I feel at this point it goes without saying, but each delectable item brought its own uniqueness of flavour that made each course more amazing than the last. And of course how could we forget to mention the staff? Unfailing polite, but more importantly, personable and funny. If you can tear your eyes away from the delicacies brought, be sure to note how attentive and kind each person is. Thank you very much for our best of the best dining experience weve had to date.
We had very very good dinners plus I got a French list lesson when they showed on the menu a an item that said sexy La Petite call Sean translate into three little pigs in English learn something new everyday keeps you young
One of the best meals in best nights out in a really long time. starting with the staff in the front of the house who were attentive and welcoming all the way to the chefs who cooked an amazing meal for us we couldnt have been happier and couldnt have had a more wonderful night and we know you will too
Everything about Cochon is professional, beautiful, and delicious. Everyone who works there is personable and have the goal of making your night enjoyable. I cannot recommend them enough!
Excellent service and food!
Wonderful atmosphere and lovely dinner
Great service, great food, nice ambience
While past restaurant experiences with Cochon were very positive, it fails miserably as a source of superior quality takeout. We ordered Easter takeout dinner for two and the ordering process along with pickup was just fine. The problem is that for a $160 the food was just mediocre. I have had better takeout at Longhorn for $50.I certainly want to help local restaurants to stay in business but this was just not worth the $$$$.Cochon needs to improve the quality and quantity of the takeout food and cut the price significantly. They are just not able to come even close to the Cochon βdine inβ experience so they should not expect a premium price.Very, Very Disappointed !!!
Loved this restaurant!! The bread pudding is amazing and we lived watching the chefs cook!!
Superb dining experience. My wife and I were celebrating our 19 year anniversary. Each course was delicious, from appetizer to main course and dessert.Happy to say that I will be coming back many more times.
Cochon is a lovely, elegant restaurant. It is not large, but still the tables are far enough apart that it is not noisy and you can enjoy a conversation without shouting. The waiters are all highly experienced professionals who provide excellent service. The food was superb. I had a seared tuna that was just right --crusty on the outside with a bright red interior. It came with prawns that were also excellent. My Manhattan cocktail was great.
Phenomenal food, service and atmosphere. Our waiter was chris, he was very knowledgeable about the menu and very professional. We considered the chefs scientists as they are able to create food with incredible flavor.I had the scallops and salmon for an appetizer, and NY steak for entree. Very very good.
My wife and I stopped in with reservations for dinner on a Saturday night. Service was 5 stars all day long. Very attentive to our table. The restaurant itself is very quaint and I really enjoyed the decor. We started with a salad each and the tuna tartar. I had the salad with oysters and my wife had what appeared to be a mixed green salad with parmesan shavings. She loved it and mine also was 5 stars. The tuna tartar was not only fresh but had the right mix of ginger, cilantro, and soy. Tartar was also 5 stars. But 5 stars on salads are not a given its still easier to get then on the entree. We split the duck breast and Im glad we did because the salads were fairly large and the tartar was generous in size. For an extra charge they plate the food separately for you. Our entree was slow coming and that affects the rating. We actually lost our appetite because of the long wait between our salads to the entree. The duck was cooked to the right temperature but unfortunately the sear on the outside was burnt and it affected the flavor. The vegetables were good but unfortunately they had gotten cold. The scallop potatoes were the star of the plate. So overall I still give it a high 3 stars. The manager did come over and offered to make some more vegetables and I am sure they would of replaced the duck if I asked. I told her I was not looking for anything taken off our check, but they comped the duck. So I know that they really care. We will give them another try.
Iβm that steak and potatoes guy. I generally donβt like βfancyβ restaurants just because a good chimichanga for $12 is sort of measuring stick for me, and Iβve never eaten a $60 meal thatβs five times better. But Le Cochon came darn close! The food was truly unique, extraordinarily tasty, and in sufficient portions that we all left full. Since I have occasion to treat my SO to such a place a couple times a year, this will from now on be my go to romantic dinner spot.
The absolute best restaurant in Williamsburg. Never disappoints and always delicious with great presentation.
Flawless meal. The waiter, Seth, was very attentive and friendly. He called us by our names after he learned them and we felt welcome. The food was excellent and cooked perfectly. I couldnt find a single issue with the food. Expensive as to be expected, and would recommend.
Casual, upscale dining. Get the sticky ribs. Just know its not inexpensive. Great for special occasions. Main dining room can get loud, but the room with the fireplace is quiet and cozy. Everything we had was delicious and perfectly prepared.
Melissa went above and beyond to help me with a last minute gift certificate. She took time to help me outside of her hours to ensure that I had the perfect gift, a delicious meal at Cochon on 2nd! This is definitely a local business you should support!!!
Very good food,. service, and atmosphere.
Very good food and service. I would return if in the area
Great atmosphere! Crab cakes sandwich was delicious. Will definitely partake again!
Excellent atmosphere and food. We are in from Baltimore and are very happy to have found such a nice place. Neil, the owner, is very nice and has done a fantastic job with decor and has hired a very friendly staff. We had the sticky ribs and firecracker shrimp appetizers and the we delicious. Great touch to received hot towels to clean up after. We recommend this place to both locals and visitors.
Great service. Great locally sourced food. Salmon and steak were both tasty. Bread terrific. Excellent wine list. Cocktails original and tasty. Chef checked on table. Just the right level of service - attentive but not intrusive. Ambiance very nice. Three of four $$$. Entrees $24-$35.
Fantastic food.
Grade 5/5 Experience. I have been hearing my friends and clients rave about this place! Decided to give it a shot well! Let me tell you.... I ordered a Wagu burger PERFECT temperature and the taste was marvelous. The head chef noticed us and came over to introduce himself and check on us during our meal. Great environment, fantastic food and spectacular customer service. This is just what this side of town needs! WILL RETURN for sure
We had rehearsal dinner her for my son & his bride. The food was outstanding. I had a steak that was tender & melted in my mouth. All the food was superb. The wait staff was excellent and attentive in every way. The manager was as accomadting as she could be. My guests thanked me for a nice evening. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Our go-to restaurant when we want a great evening out. Great atmosphere, wonderful food, outstanding service. Yes, maybe its a tad more expensive than other restaurants, but well worth it. I always leave Cochon with a smile on my face.
Great place, fantastic location. Jessica served our table for a friends birthday and she was fantastic and the best service ive gotten from a waitress to date that i can recall. Great atmosphere. Only thing i can complain for is menu variety, beef, shrimp, and bacon oriented menu. I would like some chicken on the menu but the quality and the service made up for it. Jessica is highly recommended if you go here.
I am giving it a neutral review since we did not stay to eat here. Google is incorrect in calling this a diner. It is very much fine dining. We were on vacation and it was extremely awkward to walk in t shirts and blue jeans to such a nice place. I am sure they are great if you are looking for a nice fancy date. But definitely not where you want to go for a quick cheap meal.
It is wonderful.. I highly recommend going.
Great chef. Excellent food, French martini, and desert. Nice atmosphere. This place is a winner!
Great, food, service and atmosphere
Great food amazing service
The food is very pricey, but it is very worth it. The kitchen runs along the side of the dining room, so you can see the chefs preparing your food which is awesome. We went here for our anniversary dinner and couldnt have been happier. If youre planning on going, plan on spending a decent chunk of change, but as Ive already said, it is worth it. Exquisite.
Delicious food! Friendly waitstaff! Great atmosphere! Loved it. Well definitely go back.
Great drinks, wonderful food and very friendly staff. I recommend dinner, the lunch menu is not very extensive, however, the fresh grilled salmon sandwich was amazing.
Wonderful meal, good drinks, impeccable service. Our first visit, will not be our last. We met Niel, he made us feel like old friends!
