The store has an awesome selection of jewelry, gifts and clothing. The staff are helpful and I always find something new when I shop here! They also have a really awesome selection of socks, so if youre looking for a cheap but fun gift this is really the coolest place to visit.

Store refused to let me and my friends into the store without some adults to make sure they could have as many eyes on us as possible. When we asked why we couldn’t come in, they said that they didn’t want people in there. So a RETAIL STORE didn’t want CUSTOMERS in there? Why did they put the store on the busiest street in town? The world may never know. Just remember kids, if they are willing to do it to us, they are willing to do it to you.

Incredibly disrespectful service. I walked into this store the other day with my family, and we were all very shocked to be treated the way that we were treated. after being followed around by the staff for a full 5 minutes, we were asked to leave. I would understand being asked to leave if we had been disrespectful or loud, but as I was raised in the south, I was taught better. the youngest of my family is a freshman in high school, and she was more well behaved than the staff of the store. when we asked why were being asked to leave, the employees stated that they didn’t want to have customers in the store. might I add, this was in the middle of the day.. well within the hours of the store. I would think that a store in a small, conservative town would like to keep the tradition of welcoming people into their store. Colonial Williamsburg is an important historical site of America, and one of the most amazing parts about America is that everyone is welcome, no matter what ethnicity, age, or anything that may make them different. I’m sure that the politicians that built this country from the ground up would be disappointed in the people running this store.

Store is open for online orders during this health crisis and was able to find what I need and arrived quickly. Cant wait til it is open again and we can all shop our local stores.

The owners of the store did not allow us to touch merchandise and asked us to leave shortly after arriving. In Williamsburg, a place for tourists, I would expect better service and allow people to look around. I expected better.

Everyone must know this!My son loves collecting souvenirs! We were in Williamsburg recently. While I was using the bathroom, he liked something in this store and wanted to buy it. His father sat outside with my younger one and watched him the whole time he was in this store. He was shooed away (by the very rude staff) despite the fact that he had the money to pay for it!He tried to tell the staff that his father was outside watching him, but was asked to leave.I needed a new handbag and would’ve loved to give them business. After my son told me how they had treated him, I made a choice of not giving them any business.Needless to say, they have too much money and business so they can ask people to leave the store. My family is never going back there!

I walked in the other day and noticed that some employees were following a young African American woman around and they were looking at her as if she was trying to steal and watching her every move. I also saw them refuse 4 teenage girls to enter their store not even a few steps from walking into the plaza, and for no reason whatsoever. Disrespectful service.

I was extremely disappointed in this store’s customer service. Several of my friends were refused service here throughout my stay in Williamsburg for no reason. There were no instances of stealing, noise disturbances, nor disrespect towards any the employees. It truly put a damper on my stay here in Virginia.

I went to this store in Williamsburg on a trip with my high school, and every student/ parent/chaperone who entered the building was treated with major disrespect. The students were asked to leave and not come back unless they were with a chaperone, while many of the students were legal adults already. I’m not sure if they thought we would shoplift or cause chaos, or what they’re used to students doing there, but we showed no sign of having any bad intentions. When the chaperones did come, they were also treated very rudely and negatively.

I have always had a great experience at the J Fenton Gallery. The staff is always very kind and knowledgeable. I have been to both the store in Charlottesville and Williamsburg. They both have an excellent selection of products and the staff has been very kind and helpful. I will certainly be coming back.

Store has some nice items. The one sales person was pushy and over bearing. She was a real negative and I made my purchase and high tailed it out of there without looking at any more merchandise. I am sure she is a nice lady but there is an art to sales and she does not have it.

Being a first time visitor to Williamsburg, this specific store ruined my experience of seeing the Colonial District. Not only was I asked to leave the store while looking at the overpriced products, the store cashier followed me and my friends around the store to make sure nothing was stolen due to our ethnic backgrounds. We were very embarrassed because we didn’t want to look like thieves because of our color and age. Maybe I should expect that from a southern state, but traveling from South Carolina I was raised different.

Absolutely terrible service. I was followed around the whole store due to suspicion of me and my friends stealing. Owners are very stereotypical and assume all of customers would steal their $10 shot glasses. Everything is very overpriced. I will never return here again.

This is a great store with great service and merchandise - all the bad reviews seem to be from one group of some 40 students which was more people than a store like this can handle.

When I entered the store along with three of my friends, I was expecting a welcoming environment. Instead, the shop owners were hostile, I felt very uncomfortable. They would glare at and follow us while we walked around, and they demanded that we leave because we didnt have a chaperone (we are 18 year old girls). We hadnt been making excessive noise or even touching any of the merchandise, only looking. They complained about us being in their store and how we were ruining their sales. This store and the shop workers do not represent the spirit of Williamsburg, and I strongly recommend supporting other stores in the area instead of J. Fenton Gallery.

I would give zero stars but I am unable to. The employees were rude and followed individuals in my group including myself as if we were trying to steal from their store. They overall ruined the experience of this historic place and give a bad name to the state of Virginia.

Horrible service. While visiting with friends in Williamsburg, we decided to go into this shop and were treated very rudely. We were asked to leave if there were no chaparones accomoanying us. The kicker is all but one of us were over 18. Also, asked another group to leave if they didnt plan on buying anything. Would give a lower rating but I cannot.

Very disappointed by the service and sales people. Employees were rude, overbearing, and disrespectful. Don’t waste your time or money in this store.

People need to know this. I went in a few months back to burn time while my wife shopped. I picked up a childrens book and flipped through it for content and reading level. I was told by an employee this is not a library. She also said to buy it or put it back. Horrible way to treat a local! BAD service.
