I was beyond pleased with the overall experience I had with Hardwire Tattoo today, plus it had been over 6 years since I last received some artwork. My artist / tattooer was Matt Fischer. Matt is very authentic, eclectic and has an amazing personality. Throughout the 45 minute session, Matt and I conversed multiple times, mostly about our passion for all things Horror. This is where my tattoo came in to play. I presented Matt with one dozen Horror-themed ideas approx. 2 months ago and I went with the one he was most passionate about...Ghost Face from the Scream series. This was perfect!! Our youngest sons favorite villain is Ghost Face, plus...Scream 5 just finished filming right here in Wilmington in 2020. Matt nailed this tattoo...I mean, he absolutely crushed it and I could not be any more pleased with the end result. All of Matts lines are super clean, proportioned perfectly and it looked like a sticker afterward. My skin did not endure much, if any, trauma and bleeding was kept to a minimum. This was a flawless tattoo session and experience all around!!!! The shop was very clean, all employees were masked properly and everyone was down to Earth and friendly. Matt.......the rest of this leg is now saved for your future Horror work. THANK YOU for an amazing job!!! 5 STARS!!!

Went to the hardwire in independence mall! We had Lou who did an awesome job on my husband and I! We come from South Carolina for him, he is patient and works with you! We are always super impressed. All of the other artist do amazing work as well! 10/10 recommend!! Also the first time we came we were worked in for two pretty decent size pieces in a short amount of time! So thankful for these guys!

Went to Derrick Fowler at independence mall for my first tattoo. I have gotten so many compliments on it already. He did such an excellent job, he has an incredible eye for detail and coloring. His art style is gorgeous and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for micro, photo-realistic, Japanese style, comics or anime styled tattoos. Very pleasant experience and Im already planning to get more tattoos done with him.

Never thought I would get a tattoo in a mall, after stopping in to Hardwire that changed quickly. Went in to look around and was greeted by Derrick, his friendly and personable manner was a change of pace from some of the other tattoo shops I have visited in the Wilmington area. Showed him the Native American “Man in the Maze” (Google to find meaning) necklace I wanted replicated in a tattoo and he listened to my wants and immediately had suggestions for placement, size, color and shading. I made an appointment and had it done today and am extremely pleased with the personality, talent and work that went into this tattoo. Would not hesitate to return and will return to have more work done by this very competent and talented artist. I am planning on him covering up a tattoo done by someone not nearly as talented as Derrick Fowler.Very clean, shop fair prices and excellent service. Pic attached was taken moments after tat was finished.

I went to Hardwire in the mall yesterday and had the best experience ever. Matt did my tattoo everyone in there was awesome. I have already put my deposit down for a tattoo for my daughter. I have some other tattoos that need to be touched and this the place and Matt is the guy. They were real sweet to my grandaughter the gentlemen at the front gave her a fake tattoo to put on her leg. Great atmosphere Matt is gentle. Hardwire is the best.

I was on vacation at Topsail Beach and my Mom got sick and had to have emergency surgery and the hospital was in Wilmington and my brother and I had been talking about getting a tattoo but we didn’t know where to go. We researched shops and Hardwire sounded like a great place to go and it was more than great it was awesome. I showed Mike the design I wanted and he did a amazing job and he is not only a cool artist but is a great person and I recommend he and his fellow artists for your next tattoo. If I am ever in Wilmington I will definitely be visiting them again and getting another tattoo.

Had an excellent experience with Matt. I came in with an idea for a custom tattoo based on an ink and watercolor design. Matt captured the lines and color of the original perfectly, plus he suggested a couple of adjustments that were definitely the right call. Matts friendly and super talented. It was my first tattoo, and he talked me through everything.

I went in looking for an artist to help me turn a family crest into a tattoo. Derek worked with me and came out with an awesome design! The experience was smooth, fast, and very comfortable. Most importantly the tattoo came out fantastic and was not too pricey.

Jason Moore is fantastic. Im a wimp when it comes to pain but Jasons professional touch it felt like a little tingle, in fact I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep. He also out color back into an old tattoo and made it look even better. The cost of his artistry was very reasonable. Great place.

About a year ago I had one done by someone at a different tattoo artist at a shop I wasnt familiar with, and they messed it up. I was so sad and went to Mike to fix it. I love my new skull tattoo, now that its healed it looks so awesome. People ask me all of the time where I had it done. And I tell them Hardwire in the mall, they know what theyre doing.

3 of us went in as walk-ins, Jason took us right back. Staff is super friendly, prices are great, and the artist was phenominal! We live 1.5 hours away, and when im ready for tattoo # 11, ill definitely be back! It was an over all fantastic experience!

So nice!! Everyone is so nice and actually knows what they are doing. I can remember his name but the man that does piercings did my first piercing a few years ago. I come to nc every summer to see my parents and will only get piercings from him. They give you cleaning spray with any piercing. Its an amazing place. The man who does tattoos is also good. He gave me his number after i got my first tattoo (because im a cry baby and had so many questions) and i would always update him on it and ask him about it. 10/10 such an amazing place

I have not been tattooed by the other two artists there on Sundays, but I have seen their work while I was there and it is gorgeous. Called hardwire tattoo to set up an appointment with an artist, the front desk lady was utterly rude and annoyed.

The front desk receptionist was by far extremely rude. I went in for some questions about appointment scheduling for when I turn 18 and she acted as if I had interrupted her entire day of doing nothing.
