Amazing hospitality. Needed an early inspection since leaving town for awhile. These guys obviously had a crowded house of vehicles on a Friday. With their amazing, customer service, they gladly took it in and helped me so I could head out of town.

Stopped in just before 5 with a tire pressure indicator light on, Plugged it, aired it up and i was out the door in 20 minutes, no charge. 15 years ago i dropped by for a flat; plugged, aired up, and out in 20 minutes, no charge. Same guy- Gary behind the counter and the same guy fixed the tire as did before. I see them for inspection and other services as well, but today saved today and tomorrow. It would have been flat by morning. Thanks Gary and staff

I left my car from eight until 4:30 to have tire pressure checked and an oil change. I was told that the oil change couldn’t be done that day but that oil would be added. When I picked my car up I was told that the tires only needed air and there would be no charge. I asked much oil was needed. Was told: ‘not much’ but my model car is terrible and has all kinds of trouble- watch out. This morning, the oil alert light was still on. I bought oil and funnel at WalMart where great guys added > 4 quarts. I saw the dipstick show levels before and after. I am 1000 miles from home with 3 kids under 7. How disappointing to have this kind of neglect.

Its not often you come across an automotive repair shop that really goes above and beyond the way these guys did. I came in for an a/c diagnostic. And despite how busy and booked up they were, when they learned I was traveling out of town they took the time to help me out by pulling it in and taking a look. I would absolutely recommend going here.

Class act! My daughter came home for Fathers Day day and her tire went flat on Sunday. Had a visible screw in it. She needed to be back Mon AM. Took it to Walmart Sun and they wouldnt touch it. Took it to these guys Mon @ 8AM. They fixed within 15 mins and did not charge a dime. Old school customer service! Thanks PN Tire and Auto!

Love this place!! They plugged a tire for me and didnt charge me. After that my daughter decided to take her van there for tires, brakes, and an oil leak. Her van is driving wonderfully now! She expected a larger bill. It was very reasonable. The owners are so kind to my baby girl and grandkids. That puts them high on my list of favorites!!

Ive been using Porters Neck Tire & Auto since 2003; 17 years. I trust them w/my cars. If they say it needs to be replaced, it *needs* to be replaced. I know a little about cars & I know when an auto dealer is trying to pump up the bill. Ive never had that @ P.N. Tire & Auto. I believe all their mechanics are A.S.E. certified; many have been @ P.N. Tire & Auto f/many years. They are busy all the time because they are that good & trustworthy.

Quickest, most honest, most affordable mechanic Ive found in Wilmington. I bring them all of my cars - domestic, imported, new, and classic. Had a very slow leak in a tire on my Lexus last week and it took them two days to finally find it because it was so small, and even after having to remount and reseal my tire to fix the issue, they didnt charge me a penny. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

I had been told by several people how great the service was and how helpful they were so i took my car in bc it had a brake alert up he scheduled me for 2 days later which i understand hes busy but brake problems are serious so i asked if hed just walk outside for a second and at least look at the warning so that i knew if I had anything to worry about that was serious and if I could still drive the car and he wouldnt even come outside a few feet away to look at the alert they did more than that at autozone they wouldnt diagnose the issue but at least gave me ideas of what it could be so I decided not to bring my car in and go to the dealership (which i was trying to avoid doing) to get it fixed i heard that Gary the owner is a very helpful and good person and that wasnt him i spoke w but I think they need someone different to run the counter

So I had some issues with what I assumed was my battery. After a jump, I drove my Jeep there and told them thats whats I thought I needed. No appointment or anything, I was in and out in less than an hour with a good quality battery with a warranty. The price was way less than I anticipated. Im a travel nurse from Pennsylvania and these wonderful people just gave me one more dose of that southern hospitality

AS THE OWNER I DONT REPLY AS ALL MY CUSTOMERS KNOW ME BUT IN MR MURRYS CASE I FEEL THE NEED TIMELINE 6/2011 WE REPAIRED BRAKES AND ON 3/2014 2.5 YRS LATER HE HAD A COOLANT LEAK FROM RADIATOR DRAIN VALVE INSTEAD OF RADIATOR WE WERE ABLE TO REPLACE DRAIN. 9/2014 CAME IN WITH BUSTED UPPER RADIATOR HOSE DEALER ONLY PART TOOK 2 DAYS TO GET ALL OK. MR MURRY CAME IN THIS MORNING WITH ANOTHER LEAK INFORMED HIM HE WOULD HAVE TO DROP -MR MURRY THINKS THAT ISSUES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING TO A 2000 MODEL YEAR ONE TIME FIXES ALL AS MY CUSTOMERS KNOW IF IT IS OUR PROBLEM WE WILL ALWAYS COVER IT .I AM SORRY THAT I CANT MAKE THE PARTS AND FORESEE INTO THE FUTURE BUT I DO KNOW WE REPAIR THE PROBLEM AT HAND AND WE STAND BEHIND OUR WORK.

Gary the owner probably provides the best service to me out of any servicer or business I have ever been affiliated or dealt with in my life. I only hope I can provide my own customers half the satisfaction and service that Gary provides to me on my truck. Fast and friendly service with a smile. A very popular, and reputable mechanic. Their calendar is generally quite full, so call in advance to get an appointment. With that said, they are really good about time management and getting your service done within the quoted amount of time.

Moved down here early June from Vermont, my F250 had a problem in the front end. They diagnosed, fixed and was below the quoted price. Went back for another repair on a another vehicle. Fixed right away, done sooner than they said it was going to be and didnt charge me a bit. (Small repair) but they still had to pay the mechanic for his time. I recommended them to a friend of mine down here and they were just as happy as I have been. Currently shopping for new tires now and they will be my only call. My wife and I were traveling North to visit our son in Washington, DC and while detouring in Wilmington, NC to visit friends, we ran over some nails which caused our tire to deflate. Garys team patched our tire quickly, but we were concerned about the potential for further leaks while on our trip and we decided to replace the rear tires on our Hyundai Equus. Within a few hours they received the new tires and replaced them at a very FAIR price. They treated us honestly and fairly and went out of their way to get our issues resolved quickly. We would recommend them to all!!!

Gary seems like a competent easy person to work with. However, recent experiences are not so good. The lady there is short with you and not very friendly. The work is so so and price quotes are not communicated well enough.

Had a friend recently drop his car off at this shop while borrowing my car for the duration. The first visit was a week with their shop which in that time they were able to replace 1 part needed. Took the same car back 1 week later for ongoing issues mentioned during the first visit. After a few days we call and was told all they have done was test drive the vehicle. There is no followup with this company in the 2 week time frame that they had this car out of 3 total weeks we received no call from them with an update at all. On the 7th day we call during the last visit and hear your car is ready to be picked up. Well why didnt you call and tell me that yourself for all we know it could have been ready days prior.... when we get there we find out it took them a week to test drive the vehicle and that was essentially it as they found no issues. 2 days later we take to the dealership they diagnose a couple factory recalls and fix the issue that they could not in 2 weeks they had the vehicle.

Called less than an hour to close with a nail in my tire on my way out of town to evacuate for Florence. Noone was open, even Walmart had closed early. The lady said I would have to wait maybe up to 30 mins, but they could squeeze me in. Drove in and they patched up the tire in less than 10 minutes. Everyone was incredibly nice and it was a wonderful experience!

Im from out of town,staying in the area for the month,called up yesterday about getting tires rotated, the nice lady said to come in at 3pm, i did and was very pleasantly surprised when i asked if i could wait for the vehicle, she said yes,took my keys and i was done in 30 minutes,spoke to the owner gary and his wife,both very nice accomodating people, i plan to return next year to stay for march and will use them again definitely for any repairs,i have multiple vehicles and am used to indifferent,sloppy service from smaller shops back home in canada,these folks are a breath of fresh air, i can see why their shop is busy, this is a no-fuss,no-BS shop run by straight-up folks, thankyou for your prompt and courteous service.

I had a very unfortunate experience this morning. I was driving home from work at 7 am after working 12 hours, and 15 minutes into my drive my vehicle started shaking to the point where I thought I may have had a flat tire or an issue with an axle. When I didnt see anything wrong with my tires, I called to have it towed because I didnt want to risk causing more damage. Luckily I broke down near Porters Neck Tire and Auto. I had it towed to them because I had a similar experience with my husbands engine in his car practically exploding several months ago while he was deployed, and they not only did their best to attempt to have Honda cover the expense under warranty, but they also didnt have his car towed off the lot when I was unable to pick it up. In fact, it sat there for months before my husband got back and was able to pick it up. At any rate, today they were able to figure out that it was a simple fix with lug nuts being pretty loose. They refused to charge me anything to diagnose the vehicle or any labor, like some shops would have. When they couldve easily taken advantage of me because I literally had no idea what the problem was and didnt bother to self-diagnose the issue because I just wanted to go home and sleep, they were completely honest and extremely trustworthy. I highly recommend them, and have absolutely nothing bad to say about them.

Porters Neck Tire & Auto is the only auto service provider that I will use for my VW and Jeep. The quality of service is always excellent; the honest, informal and personal explanations of what is or is not needed for service is nothing like I have ever experienced in 50 years of driving cars and trucks; and the cost of service is always less than the franchise dealers would charge.
