I was making my own version of a Gourmet Cheese, Fruit, and Wine Basket for my Mom on Mothers Day 2019.After surfing the web of many gourmet cheese shops in the area, I chose going to the Cheese Chalet. I was originally taken by the online photos of their store, products, and its location.... but once I got there it was actually very small and I had no idea what to do or what to get. The young lady behind the counter was wonderful, Im sorry I dont remember her name. She knew her cheeses and was able to describe each and every one of them to me. She really eased my mind, so much so, that I bought a little bit of almost everything that was available, to make it more like a cheese sampling package, to see what my Mom would like best.Sorry about the loss of one star, I will visit again and recommend Cheese Chalet to everyone. I just wish you had more of a cheese selection.
I work for a large company. One day we had a last minute lunch for 26 people and they managed to pull it off for us at the very last minute and it got here on time. They are so professional and accommodating not to mention the food is great. Lemon chicken is a HUGE hit around here. Its wonderful to know that they will help out in a pinch. I cant say enough good about them. If you have a lunch or a catered event definitely give Cheese Chalet your business.
The Canadian sharp cheddar was awesome. I also had a Spanish cheese but I cant remember what kind, mild and good. Best part is this place is only a 5 minute walk from my house. Unlike a different review my cheese lasted in the fridge for two weeks, it could have been longer but I ate it, but I keep my fridge very cold. People pay good money for cheese with mold😃
Cheese Chalet is my go-to for excellent homemade lunches/dinners. There are some standards that we always count on, and some new creations that are delightful. DO NOT miss out on some of the best, most consistently prepared food in the Wilmington area. There is a daily menu of offerings - I cant see any reason to cook anymore! The cheeses are selected to appeal to a novice palate all the way through to delighting a cheese aficionado. The owners will recommend some wonderful cheeses and are willing to help you stretch your cheese-tasting experience.
Stocked up on cheese for Thanksgiving apps. The owner was very helpful and gave us generous tastes. We got the Manchego (Spanish cheese), the Stilton, the Canadian Cheddar, and the Morbier (French). All are excellent! We will definitely return to the Cheese Chalet. A friend told us that their prepared food, including daily specials, is outstanding. We will try that, too!
Nice little shop. Not an extensive selection but reasonably priced.
Great selection of hard and soft cheeses, lots of flavors. Friendly service.
Was in the cheese mood! Several different cheeses, crostini, nice bottle wine and accompaniments, which I already had - lavender honey, fig jam and truffle honey! Yay! Now to find the cheese! I Googled cheesemongers in my area and found Cheese Chalet. They had some very decent cheeses - a bit on the the high $ide, but that was not unexpected. What was unexpected was the fairly unfriendly / indifferent attitude of the person behind the counter (no - she wasnt busy - i was the only one in the place and happy / excited to be there) AND arriving home with 6 little packages of cheese, nearly all of which were new to me, NOT A SINGLE ONE WITH A LABEL! Are you flipping kidding me? Completely ignorant. Wont be back if they cant figure out labels are a must! Smh. Sad about that because it was conveniently located.
I stopped in to check this plate out and while I have only had one experience, I ordered macaroni and cheese and my co-worker observed the older gentleman with no gloves picking up my food. I had to throw it out, so not a great experience.
Good home cooking!
Expensive but quality is excellent and food tastes great.
I got cheese there but it was moldy and tasted of soot.
