A must go to place if youre in ILM. Their coffee and food are delicious (especially the empanadas), but its the service and people that really make this place. Tammy is one of the most welcoming people I know, my family always feel at home here. Also, their outdoor space is excellent!

Folks is a hidden gem and the only cafe we visit regularly in Wilmington. Juan and Tammy are beautiful people and make you feel like family, warmly greeting everyone that walks through their door. The amount of food you receive for the price will leave you wondering how they make any profit, and the myriad of coffee creations are unique and delightful. Don’t think, just go - you’ll be happy you did!

Good coffee (strong!) and the pastry was quality homemade yummy flavor. The empanadas are not authentic Argentina empanadas. The place needs updating and cleaning. This is a good spot to get strong good coffee & pastry TO-GO.

Walked there for the first time. They were so friendly and personable. Juan drew a train for my daughter to color and she loved it. She wants to make money so she put it up for sale by the door. Will definitely come back! Food was amazing!! Muchas Gracias!

Friendly staff. Really good empanadas(you can tell by the fluffy and flakey crust) with diverse flavors such as bean and kale, corn and cheese, ham corn and cheese.The mocha latte hit the spot with some kick(spice) that for me made it really enjoyable.

I’ve never met a business owner that I enjoyed more than the gentleman that owns this adorable shop. He’s authentic, kind, charismatic and was hospitable til the moment we walked out the door. Juan even showed us how he makes his bulk coffee. The new outside space is great. So glad we visited this gem on our trip.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. This is one of the true small business gems where a person can come by and experience some of the true culture of Wilmington. Folks Cafe is not just a place for coffee or lunch. Folks Cafe is an experience. Upon entry, the entire little nook of an indoor eating area equates to a funky kind of art gallery. Original art lines the walls and if you look closely, youll find homey elements of the owners such as family pictures and origin tributes. The owners themselves are truly remarkable people. Everyone who enters is greeted as if they just came home after a long day with a genuine, Hey! How are you? Conversation flows easily and meeting new people is this kind of environment is effortless. Most recently, the yard has been transformed into an outdoor eating and relaxation area and the vibe found on the inside transitions well under the sun. The coffee here is some of the only true coffee you will find in Wilmington. They are one of the only places who buys directly from where the coffee comes from and then roasts it themselves in house. The kind of coffee changes with the season and thats how you know that its fresh. The same idea goes for the food. The menu will change every day - thats how you mark its quality. Rather than be restrained by a corporate restaurant and stagnant menu, they create the menu based on what is in season and what gives them creative passion that day. Some of my favorite items over time have been the Wild Java Coffee, the Peach and Mango Muffins, the Fig Latte, Italian Soda, the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich, the Empanadas, the Veggie Quesadilla, and much much more that I cant remember right now having eaten it so quickly. Look, if you want a taste of Wilmington, true, not watered down, or catered to tourists Wilmington, that blends food with experience, go to Folks Cafe.

An incredible place in Wilmington! The owner was unbelievably kind. I had an iced mocha and it was delicious and different than any other one I’ve ever had. Definitely check Folks Cafe out if you get the chance!

I walked in and felt at ease and at peace. The food was delicious, the coffee hit the spot (and I dont normally drink coffee!), and the owners were lovely to chat with. We plan to go back at least once every time were in town.

This is by far the best coffee shop in Wilmington. Locally owned, coffee is organic and fair trade. You can tell that the owner really has a passion for coffee and taking care of the customers. The muffins are baked fresh daily and the empanadas are a must have. Has many flavors, beef chicken, corn, potato, etc... He roasts the coffee right across the street in small batches and you can really taste the difference in quality. I Highly recommend!

Feels like you are having coffee at your grandmothers house. The reverence for the coffee bean is definitely felt here. When you go into Folks, you feel as though you would be content never leaving. Excellent breakfast tacos and lots of love!

A delightful and unique cafe. Coffee is great, food was tasty, empanada was spectacular. Staff was incredibly friendly, outgoing, attentive and helpful.Im an it of town visitor not clearly this place has a loyal clientele. About half the people in the case were obviously known to the woman working there counter and almost all of them some like old friends. Really fun atmosphere, and great to see in a small independent business.

We dropped by to pickup some coffee and decided to stay for lunch. It is a cute little cafe. I had an empanada which was delicious. My husband had a bagel with cream cheese and bacon. This is one of those unique places that make up the fabric of Wilmington.

We went to Folks for the first time today. What a great place to hang out. Their baked treats are incredible (didnt get an empanada today, but will next time) and their coffee is great aaaannnnd it is roasted in house. We liked it so much we decided to get some beans to take home with us. We started talking with Tammy about what kind we should get and that turned into her mixing us a special espresso blend to take home. We also bonded a little with her about having moved to Wilmington from Southern California. When you meet owners who are this welcoming and wonderful it really makes you want to go back as often as you can and when their products are as good as Folks are it makes you want to go back that much more. Looking forward to our future visits and excited to try our espresso blend tomorrow morning!

I started going to this lovely coffee shop years ago when I taught school at nearby New Hanover High School. Juan and Tammy Pacini welcomed me and my students every time, with smiles, fresh coffee, and treats that fortified us through poetry readings and sing-alongs.Since retiring, I come to this coffee shop five mornings a week. The coffee beans are organic, Fair Traded, and roasted in small batches of one pound or less everyday. The excellent iced coffee is made with coffee ice cubes, a rarity! The standard sandwich menu is excellent, and the specials, usually was soup, change daily. Everything is made from scratch right there on the spot.The owners are from Argentina and Ecuador, and many of the special sandwiches have an Argentinian or Ecuadorian flare. These folks are great contributors to the community, and their shop is an anchor, a beacon, and home to many locals. Having said that, they welcome outsiders with open arms! You will walk away feeling as if you are special.

From the amazing coffee to the friendly owners...cant think of a better way to wake up. I didnt get a coffee card. The owner came outside and said she remembered me and my husband from the day before and stamped our card to include our past purchases. Very nice people. Warm and kind to their customers of all ages. Coffee is so good that sugar is unnecessary.
