I was very pleased with the kindness and professionalism of all the staff that helped my husband and I with our eye care. Even though I only remember Pam, Brandon, and Dr Macali, everyone was exceptional. We definitely plan to return for future visits. -Niva Spada, Realtor
Honestly, I dont have any other eye clinic to compare my experience with, but in the realm of customer service, follow through and individual attention I am extremely satisfied. . Its obvious that they communicate well with eachother, and take great notes because I never have to explain anything to the next person who serves me. They are friendly and personable and take the time to talk to you. I dont often take the time to review businesses, but in this case I was so surprised at how they handled my situation that I felt like I had to acknowledge them. I paid for my glasses and exam with my credit card, and then realized the next day that I could have used a health savings card I have instead. Even though it was processed, it was no big deal for them to cut me a check and then let me come in and repay with the other card. They even said they would call me when it was ready so I didnt have to wait for it. That sounds so simple (as it should be) but in todays business world, we hear all too many times, things like Im sorry, its processed already so there is nothing we can do...
The staff is amazing, well-trained, and friendly. All of the doctors I have worked with are professional and knowledgeable. It worth the drive!
When doctor Macali opened the office several years ago, the place was nice and I liked the doctor, now.... not anymore!Last time I tried to go see doc Macali for a checkup eye visit, that french guy manager wanted me to sign a paper stating I refused to do an optional service that I did not requested or wanted. I never have done that before there or anywhere else, I told them I did not need to sign anything but insisted I had to do it, or no visit. To bad...the doctor was good....
I had an eye emergency on a Saturday and they were able to accommodate me quickly. The staff is nice and efficient and both times with two different doctors have been great! Thank you for helping with my pain and getting my eye right!
My son had an eye emergency, and they made it possible to get an appointment at last minute. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Sure, Ill recommend them to friends and family.
New to the area. My wife and I both had appointments. Very pleased with level of service.
By far the best experience I ever had at an eye doctor! Everybody was so nice, very knowledgeable and willing to help in any way they could to make my experience better. I was here on business and needed contacts because I ran out. I had an I exam 3 weeks prior out of state that I thought was thorough. Come to find out it was very poor and my prescription was incorrect. My contacts prescribed to me were incorrect as well. After my eye exam was done, they fit me in to the correct contacts and made sure everything was perfect before I left. I will be going there for my eyes from now on! Thank you!
Excellent service! Hands down to the staff of an amazing office. Amazing glasses frame selection, and again service is top notch!
I have to give the biggest rave to Maray who went above and beyond in her job for me. The kindness and professionalism that I was shown goes beyond any words. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you…👏❤️
I had an appointment together with my 5 year old daughter - they were very thorough and patient.
This is the best eye doctor ever! All of the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. I love this eye doctor!!
Even know we only get to Macali Eye Clinic once a year for check ups, the entire team treats us like family. From the pre-visit email to the check on process and the actual eye exam. Every meme we of the team is extremely friendly and work as a great team. The optics department is just as well put together as they work with you to find the right pair of glasses as they truly know what’s trending. Thank you Macali team for another great experience.
Terrible experience at this office. I’d had some sort of eye infection for a few days and, after reading several positive reviews about this office, I called them and explained I needed a medical appointment, and fortunately was able to scheduled for the same day. When I got there, after giving my health insurance card I was informed by the front office that I had had my vision checked less than a year ago and therefore I couldnt do another vision exam. Showing my infected eye to the staff, I explained I was there because I needed medical care and not to have my vision checked, and that I had explained this when I called to make an appointment. The staff said she understood. After a few minutes, a young man led me into a room and started taking vision tests. Once again I explained that I was not there to have my vision checked, but for medical reasons and again showed my infected eye. He replied that he understood but that it was part of the routine. I thought it was strange but I let it go.After having done all the vision tests, I was finally examined by an ophthalmologist who prescribed an oral antibiotic, some eye drops and told me to stay where I was . Less than 5 minutes later a girl came to drop something in my eyes that would dilate my pupils to proceed with the vision exam. For the third time, (extremely irritated at this point) I explained why I was at the clinic and that with my left eye itching, and swollen, it was absurd to want to put something in that would cause me even more discomfort. She simply said that I would have to sign a form refusing to dilate the pupils. After that I expected to be taken to check out but unbelievably I was taken to the store where you choose your glasses and told to wait there..Once again, on the verge of exploding, I explained to another person that came to ask what kind of glasses I was looking for that I was not there for glasses at all ...After all this (2 HOURS), I was finally taken to the front desk where several women worked and once again I explained everything that had happened. Because it hadn’t yet been a year yet since my last vision exam the insurance wouldn’t cover it, so I was charged an astronomical price for something I repeatedly said I wasn’t there to do (and I didn’t even get a proper vision exam because my eye was all irritated). In no way was any of the staff helpful in undoing this misunderstanding, or at minimum apologizing or anything. I am simply astonished to read all the good reviews of this office because my experience there was disastrous and I never plan to go back.
Macali Eye Clinic, doctors, clinic staff and services are top notch. As a previous employee for over 4 Years, I continue as a patient for both myself and spouse. When you are there you know you will the get the best in eye care. The team is efficient and work to ensure you receive the best medical service, value and use of your vision insurance coverage.
It was an AMAZING experience! The staff was very nice and friendly. We never felt pressured in any way.
This is not an eye doctor- its a company! I felt like the whole visit was a sales pitch to get me to buy glasses. Oh, not 1 pair but they told me to get 2 pairs. 1 for day and 1 for night time. This is after the doctor told me it was not necessary at this time yet the sales person said/implied I really should do this today! Do yourself a favor and goto a real eye doctor. This place only wants to sell you glasses at a high price. Im sure the really nice owner will reply to this and I hope so. If you read his other responses he is a total jerk when he gets a bad review. Youll also notice they will get a ton of 5 star reviews after this post to push my bad review to the bottom.
They are close to where I live so it is very convenient. Pleasant, experienced staff, otherwise known as a well oiled machine.
Wonderful experience at Macali! From the front desk, technicians, doctor then frame salesman, everyone was terrific. Very thorough exam and explanation.Office very clean and safety protocols in place. Thank you so much
Wonderful group of people working here.Everyone I came in contact with was helpful, pleasant and explained everything clearly for me to understand. Thank you to you all for your professionalism and personal help.
What a gem sitting quietly in the corner!!I absolutely loved my first visit yesterday. Its clean. Theyre thorough and polite. They answered my questions and made sure that I understood the reason for every test. They have a great selection of frames to choose from too!. I would highly recommend Macali Eye Clinic to anyone looking for eyecare
The Team at Macali Eye Clinic are always amazing. Our family have been going to this practice for as long as I can remember. We have had nothing but wonderful experiences with Dr Macali and his Team. Going out during the pandemic is nerve raking, but when I had to go the other day with my son for an eye exam they had taken every precaution to put mine and my sons minds at ease. They kept the office very clean and continued to clean throughout our appointment. Keep up the great work.
First time Amazing service very professional
Very disappointed. After three tries, the glasses they prescribed were wrong, as well as the contacts.
This was my first visit to Dr. Macali. I was experiencing some floaters and flashes. It started with getting me in the same day as I called since they had a cancellation. The staff was thorough and kind as they explained all the different tests. Dr. Macali put my mind at ease, took his time with me and explained everything so well. I cant say enough good things about Macali Eye Clinic. I was so impressed and highly recommend them! Their prices were very fair too! It was pouring down rain as I finished, and they even offered to walk me to my car with an umbrella. Thats great service!
Excellent. They went above and beyond and their service for my eyes. Educated things that I had no idea about. This is a great optometrist oh, I highly recommend it to anyone. They are thorough, professional, and highly knowledgeable. Thank you again everyone over there.
Great experience, clean office, doctors very knowledgeable and nice. Frame selection was great. Everyone was very friendly. I highly recommend them
Visiting the area from out of state - Josie and Carlos were very kind and knowledgeable and solved my eyeglass emergency very quickly.
Amazing and welcoming staff! Will only continue to go here as long as Im here in Orlando.
Everyone was nice and Dr. Borgeson was knowledgeable and thorough.
What a great place!! Was the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. All the staff was top notch. From the staff greeting us, to the assistant that started several of the preliminary exams to the Dr herself. A quick call out. Josue is someone you have to see when choosing frames. This guy is exceptional. He will help you find the exact pair of frames that you want, that looks the best for your face shape, and all the other boxes that need to be checked before purchase. Very patient, knowledgeable and excels in great customer service. It was a great experience. Dont hesitate on scheduling an appointment here.
They were SO great with my son! They were very kind and helpful. They answered all of my questions and explained everything thoroughly. They had nicer glasses that were less expensive than where I went for my eye appointment. Next time I need my own exam I’m switching to Macali. Very impressed!
Dr. Macali is awesome! His staff is very efficient, kind, and thorough. Very reasonably priced.
All 5 in our family need glasses/contacts. We have also lived a military lifestyle for a long time, moving and living in different places often. This is by far THE BEST eye care and clinic. We are all impressed by the balance of professionalism and friendliness. You will not have ANY problem getting an appointment in the near future - not having to wait a month or two to be seen. The selection of frames is impressive with the quality you hope for. Two of us have trusted the individuals assisting in frame selection, and we both receive compliments on our glasses, on a daily basis. Our 19 year old daughter said this was the first time an optometrist has explained every test and every step of the examination. They do not rush or make you feel like they must move on to the next appointment. We cannot say enough about this clinic.
They take the majority of insurance plans and take the time to do a good eye exam. Lots of beautiful frames to select. Professional and well organized.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Carlos helped me all the way thru the process of tests and selecting glasses for me. Dr Burns explained all the results of my tests and gave me good advice. I am looking forward to my new glasses and will return next year! Very pleased with the great customer service.
They’re very good in the way that care for their patients. I love that. I’m used to going to America’s Best but the saying is true “you get what you pay for” and I paid good money for the level of service that I expect when it comes to my eye health. Thanks Macali.
This is always a professional location for the best eye service in Winter Garden. You won’t be disappointed.
Very professional. Beautiful Blackfin frames.
So professional. I did not expect to have such a good experience. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and in return made me more knowledgeable. This eye clinic will allow you your full benefits. Something a chain I store cannot.
Dr. Macalis practice is filled with wonderful people who are always helpful and kind. My family and I have been going there for over 20 years and would never think to go anywhere else. Everyone is professional, kind and has the patients best interest in mind.
Go somewhere else. Hidden fees everywhere. I went to update my prescription for contacts. I was charge an additional $99 fee for a contact lens fitting. I already wear contacts I know how to wear them. FYI the contact lens fitting consisted of them just watching me put my contacts on all of literally two minutes. Plus the first few times that I got contacts I had already had the fitting so I felt like this was unnecessary. Plus I was NEVER told up front about this fee. It was just tacked on my bill casually as I was checking out. That’s just one of the hidden fees. Constantly a bait and switch with fees. Contacts that I’ve been ordering now they want to charge me an additional $90 and can’t explain why it’s now costing $90 more. This was my last visit at this place. All in all I ended up spending close to $700. And most of it was hidden fees. I do not recommend this clinic. They are not upfront with their fees and prices.
Dr. Macali and his staff exceeded my expectations. They were friendly and thorough and took me in right away! They had the latest equipment available. After the exam an eyeglass specialist spent all the time it took to help me find the perfect glasses. It is an important purchase as eye glasses are something you wear every day. They were helpful and knowledgeable with a huge selection to choose from and pleasantly, there was no pressure to purchase. They fixed my old pair of glasses at no charge to hold me over. I’ve been coming here for years and even though I’ve moved to Philadelphia I still make time to get my exams done by Dr Macali. The whole office staff is always so sweet and accommodating. 10/10 experience
Winnie is the best.
Probably the best experience I’ve ever had at an eye doctor, or really, any doctor. The staff was professional, extremely competent, and friendly. They made sure I understood everything they were doing at all times.Dr. Macali was fantastic, informative, reassuring, and had a very strong Peter Tork (from the Monkees) vibe about him, which made the exam even more enjoyable. While the facility doesn’t have much curb appeal (although it’s not horrible), once inside you are in an oasis: beautifully decorated, state of the art equipment, clean, bright, and very upscale in every way.Even when I called back the next day with questions about the bill I had paid, they were very understanding, and took the time to make sure that all was correct and that I was satisfied. You will not regret making Dr. Macali your new eye doctor.
Friendly staff, great collection of glasses and overall a decent business. My only suggestion for improvement is communication. My glasses were slow from the lab and it took a full two weeks. Not a big deal but an update would have been nice. When returned from the lab, frames were missing a piece and again, Im not getting any updates regarding timeline for them to be fixed.Ill stick with Macali and give them the opportunity to earn my business but if I experience the same in the future, I may look for a new office.
Great personalized service! I have an unusual eye disease that requires very specialized contact lenses. I have never had better contact lenses than the ones made by these doctors. In addition, the staff is great, especially Josue; he was very patient and friendly with me. Overall they made a couple of adjustments after I got the first contact lenses which showed that they were caring enough to give me the best product.
Great bunch of people. Super polite. They know their stuff.
The staff are always very friendly and they have a great selection of glasses. I’m excited to get my Oakley Frames!
The staff are very friendly and efficient. They have cut the amount of paperwork, which I like, from a green standpoint. Dr. Macali is patient and willing to explain whats going on. And the rest of the staff are very knowledgeable about the insurance plans and are willing to work with you to make sure that you get the most from your plan.
The efficiency of all the staff was exemplary, from front office to technician to doctor. Even more, the focus on explanation of tests and test results and the feeling of thoroughness was very reassuring and gave me the feeling of partnering in my own healthcare. I had just moved over from another practice that had given excellent care in the past and was delighted to feel the same way again. I genuinely enjoyed meeting with and chatting with the staff.
Staff is excellent and the basic exam is very thorough. Getting prescription glasses there has been well out of my price range though, even with insurance. The glasses ARE good (I didnt pay for them the last time I got glasses there, but I knew they were around $300 with insurance) but theres cheaper options.
Decent place and staff. Dr. B was very knowledgeable
From the time I checked in with Joycelyn, who was very welcoming, to having the preliminary exams by Neil, who was the most professional tech I’ve ever experienced in any optomotrist office, to Daniel who aided in my eyeglass selection with such patience, to the office manager who ensured everything was operational and prompt, to Dr. Macali, who was extremely thorough and explained every test that was completed; everyone made my first experience a five star. Highly recommend Dr Macali and his staff.
Through the years the care and service at Macali remains thorough and excellent. Eyes are critical and you only get one set. I’ll continue to trust mine to Macali.
Staff and doctors are friendly. Rachel Sánchez was very thorough in explaining each procedure to me before beginning. The staff here is not pushy and make recommendations because they care. The office is clean and well organized.
Set appt today.I was very impressed with Anna.I am excited about a new vision doc for a long lasting relationship. If my new sunglasses and new night time glasses procurement action is half as easy as working with her, then I will be back.Great job doc for putting such a wonderful human being for us to talk to.See you all soon.
There is not a single person that I have encountered there that didn’t make me feel welcome. I love how friendly everyone is. I am also extremely thankful for my personal stylist, Josue (sorry if I spelled his name wrong). I appreciate the entire staff and highly recommend this office.
Amazing Doctors and Staff. Knowledgeable Employees. Clean Organized Facility. Lot of choices of frames. Great Welcoming Atmosphere.
I had an emergency situation needing to see an Opthalmologist. I was not a current patient but the office staff was extremely helpful and considerate, they made an appointment for me on the same day. The doctor was very professional as was all of the staff. Highly recommend and very satisfied.
First eye doctor’s office I’ve been to living in Florida and I believe it will be my go to place for my eyewear from now on. The staff was was very pleasant and professional. Overall I’m very pleased with the service that was provided to me. Thank you 😊
Love Macali, no secret, been going for years. However the new Varilux® X Series™ Lens are freaking amazing (got the name off my receipt) Have worn glasses my whole life, I’ve had a lot of lenses!! With this pair my prescription did not change, so I know the improvement really was the lenses. These are amazing. I was told the perifial would be better, and it is, but seriously everything is better. Thanks Macali eye clinic for helping me see so much better!
Have seen Dr. Macali for several years. I have always been pleased with him and his staff! Would definitely recommend him to anyone! Glasses Selection is always top shelf! Very thorough eye exams, Dr. Macali will always explain the results and answer any questions.
Very attentive staff who explains the process and what your insurance includes (they show you the retail and then show you what your insurance covers). If you have a question or a challenge please ask them - they do a thorough job of explaining a challenge or question. They are also very observant as they noticed my previous eyewear choices and pulled frames that may fit my face rather than combing through them all myself. The appointment visit still is a little longer than I would like it to be but they try to make it a thorough experience.
Although I agree that you do move from room to room to get the complete exam, you are given the opportunity to say No to the extra tests offered. I agree they are a little more than others but they are very thorough and use the latest technology. In addition, I have watched Neil Macali examine homeless people and provide free eye care and glasses on several occasions. Must count for something? Ill be back
I have used them for years, absolutely fantastic care from the Drs and staff. They truly take whatever time is needed to get your vision to the best it can be!
Used car salesmen. At the beginning of every checkup they push a list of optional scans and tests on you for you to consent to. They dont try to bill any of them to insurance (despite some of them being covered in other eye clinics regular checkups) so you have to pay them all up front and out of pocket, and they try to scare you into paying by requiring that you sign a form saying I declined these tests against medical advice. They do this before any doctor sees you, because it is their medical advice that every patient pay them $75-$100 dollars extra every visit. They also refuse to give you your pupillary distance when asked. This is questionably legal (Florida law is vague on whether this is a required part of your prescription) but decent eye clinics give you this information even when not compelled to by law. You need this measurement in order to get lenses and frames from anywhere else, which is why they dont want to give you the information. If you had your PD you wouldnt have to buy their lenses at ludicrously inflated prices, and they care too much about your money to let you spend it anywhere else like that.I came here a couple times because the location is convenient and the staff are friendly. But smiles and a short drive dont make up for predatory business practices and hiding your medical information from you.Dont come here if you want doctors who see you as more than a walking ATM.
Everyone is kind and friendly and theyre clean as well. Great service and they listen to you. They actually spend time and help you pick the right pair of frames best suited for you instead of letting you drown in their abundance of choices.
Great staff! Everyone help! Professional! Joyce, Josue and his teamates are just the best! Thank you so much!
From start to finish, everyone that works here is so nice and knowledgeable. Great first impression on my first visit.
I highly recommend Macali Eye Clinic for Dr Vincent Piccione and his office staff for their friendliness and efficiency. Joycelyn double checked my insurance after they initially told her I wasnt covered. She called me back immediately to say she got it approved and I could schedule. She even accommodated my date and time easily. Rachel at the front desk was very helpful and kind. Nyasia takes the cake though! She calmed my nerves and made me feel comfortable with her reassuring comments throughout the exam. She is the primary reason why I will be returning for future check ups at Macali Eye Clinic.ABeth
Love Macali and find them to be competent for what I need. The staff are all friendly and professional. My only annoyance is going from room to room for different components of their exam. Its not just one or two its often picking all of your things up (purse, keys) and moving multiple times in one visit. I understand they are moving and seeing a lot of patients and Im an able bodied person but it gets a bit cumbersome after the 3rd or 4th room change. My last visit I actually moved about 5 to 6 rooms back and forth because the contacts I put on were not a good fit. I hate to harp on this but it really takes away from the experience when you are moving so often. I would suggest scheduling less appointments per slot or organizing the equipment/stacking things to do in fewer rooms.Great selection of glasses and a great one on one for contact fitting. They explain your insurance and make sure you understand your cost. Would recommend, but take heed to the movement and busy-ness.
Friendly staff but appointments seem to take twice as long as they should...One of the doctors was rude and seemed very annoyed that I asked her a simple question to clarify my daughter was getting the correct prescription. I don’t know if she’s still there but the dr we have now is great.
I love this place. We moved from Winter Garden and I miss it. They are very clear about all options and prices. You get to choose what items you want or not.
Thorough and professional eye exams. They went out of their way to fit Google Glass with prescription lenses and I have a new go to place.I am happier with these glasses than the pair I walked in with.
Not a place for Seniors! You need to move from room to room to perform a vision screening that should be in one place. This triples the time at the office. They will try to give you additional tests NOT covered by Medicare or insurance. Buyer Beware!!
Just a short note to say that we used Macali Eye Clinic and although we had some difficulty in getting the correct glasses made originally, the staff made every effort to correct a difficult situation all the way to the point of giving us back a substantial refund, as well as remaking the glasses. This is superior customer service!I like it when a company tries very hard to make up for any issue that might have occurred during a visit.
Dr, Macali is the best professional in the world and the staff couldnt have been more courteous. A+++ Jerome is just amazing! Makes you feel like your family and not at a doctors office
Being a patient at Macali Eye Clinic is always a pleasure, from Joycelyn the receptionist, to the techs who manage your exam, to the optical specialists, and the very doctors themselves. They are all knowledgeable, kind, thorough, and time efficient. Everything is very sanitary, they wipe everything down in front of you so you feel sure about the cleanliness of the exam room. The office also provides tests for glaucoma, and macular degeneration for an incredible discount price that is unavailable in most other doctors’ offices. Glasses and contact options are much more proficient and personalised to your specific needs than other providers.I am more than satisfied with this office; my entire family goes here for their vision needs and I recommend them to all my friends and co-workers.Thank you, Macali Eye Clinic!
Great staff and friendly environment. Professionalism level is excellent and thoroughness in exam is superb. The doctor took his time with me and the front desk helped me tremendously with filing my insurance claim.
Overly love them all..Kaleb thank you.
Its the details!! they really make you feel welcomed and always friendly, kind and inviting. you can tell the staff and doctors work hand and hand to give you an excellent overall experience. and the eyeglasses are always trendy. They hav all the brand names frames you kno and love.theyre always innovative and hav the latest equipment and medicine!..
Very pleased with my first time visit. They were all very kind and helpful.Update: So my first visit was in February and I had a great experience. Although my second visit which was in December was not great at all. To say the least I was not pleased with the care I received from Dr. Anh Do. I do not recommend her at all. She didn’t diagnose me correctly and idk if it was her or the lab, but they messed up the prescription of my lenses not once but twice! I could not see correctly out of one of the lenses and I told the lady that was helping me (Linda) but she just insisted on me looking outside and letting my eyes adjust to the new lens. Mind you I’ve been wearing glasses since 4th grade I’m pretty sure if I can’t see correctly there’s a reason why. So whatever I took them home to try and get used to the lenses as I was told from Linda and I just could not see at all. So I had my husband ask to speak with the office manager to get a refund because I was not going to let them try and fix my glasses for a third time. Long story short. The office manager chuckled over the phone when my husband was talking to him about how unhappy he was and that really ticked off my husband where my husband naturally cursed him out after that. You are an office manager. You are supposed to be respectful and professional. Do not laugh when my husband is speaking with you about how he’s not happy with the service his wife received. I thought I had found my new eye dr but I guess not. I do want to say Daniel and the other front office ladies were always very nice and helpful.
Great staff great service. Would definitely recommend!
I just got 2 glasses ... one sunglasses & one regular pair.An aside here: I liked my previous glasses, in that there was clarity & sharp focus from one side to the other. I had gone to LensCrafters for those; I was told then that those lenses were Varilux. I once tried polycarbonate lenses; though they were light & thin, there was only focused vision directly in front. Rolling my eyes left or right produced only a blurry view ... and I was told that Id have to become accustomed to pointing my nose at whatever I wanted to look at, rather than using peripheral vision.I emphasized there at Macali that I wanted the same clarity & sharp focus in the new glasses. I was very clear about what my previous glasses did ... & Id still be wearing them if my vision prescription hasnt changed. Well, I didnt get that. Instead, I got clear vision as I look straight ahead ... some blurred vision as I roll to the left or right ... and a more blurry view & increasing distortion (where objects are compacted) as I use my peripheral vision. But hey!! Its clear straight ahead & as long as I point my nose straight at whatever I wish to focus on. The sunglasses came back in a week; the regular glasses needed to be redone & that took an additional five days.I told the staff there briefly that Im not happy with these. Its my one day off from work & I had other appointments to go to, so I didnt sit & talk more. Since both glasses have the the same blurred views & distortions, I can see that this is inherent in the materials that were used, though I tried to specify otherwise. Ill live with these glasses until I can go to a LensCrafters; not going back to Macali.NOTE HERE:Not long after I posted this, the people at Macali reached out to me and asked me to visit and help them understand why I was not happy. The visit was very cordial, with another eye exam & new lenses ordered. Once the lenses had arrived and were seated in the new frames, another optician fitted them to my face and explained in detail why I should wear the lenses as close to my eyes as possible & within my personal comfort range, a very very very important point. With that new point in mind and the glasses readjusted up on my nose and closer to my eyes (certainly closer than how I wore my previous glasses), I can see just fine, straight ahead and to the side. Ive been happy with both sets of glasses since. Nice job, Macali!!
Hi, I really love the service. The faculty was very nice and I would strongly recommend everyone to go there.
First time visiting here for my yearly eye exam friendly staff with great professionalism Dr.Huynh was very professional and polite and take care of me for my eyecare needs I highly recommend this eye clinic to anymore Im very happy and pleased with my todays visit Ill will be a returning eyecare patient Thank you so much !!!
Brought our 3 year old here for his first exam. The staff and doc were very professional and fun even though our son was being your typical 3 year old :) I look forward to bringing the rest of my family here!
Very helpful doctor and staff. My glasses have had to be remade 4 times because i cannot adjust to progressives. They havent given me any problems, they are always so willing to help
Wouldnt recommend to anyone. Hidden fees for their machine that sees ailments in your eye, fittings, and whatever else they feel like charging. Stay away. Went there a few years ago and it was the worst experience ever. Ended up wasting my free visit and not using my money for contacts. Youve been warned on their incompetence.UPDATED: As I am just now seeing their response the fees were not told to you until AFTER the eye exam was completed. The time of the review isnt relevant as the information is correct which is corroborated by other reviews below. But after I went to a new eye facility which didnt charge any contact fitting fee or eye machine fee that this place was charging. They even said it was a cash grab.By free visit I mean my yearly checkup through my insurance at the time which is one visit per year. My current eye exam facility charges no such contact fitting fees, eye machine fees, or anything else post exam just to make extra money. That is what I mean by incompetent, be up front with the customer before the exam starts. All of this would have been avoided if I wasnt yelled at by the front desk agent. Sad the customer is always wrong from your reply.
I could not recommend the macali eye clinic (and Dr.. Huynhin particular) enough. If you have any issues with your eyes, this is the place to go. If you have any type of eye phobia, where you dont want things going into your eyes (like I do) then this is the place to go. If you want a kind courteous staff, clean offices, advanced Equipment, and knowledgeable doctors, then this is the place to go. In short, just go.I havent gone to an eye doctor in years because the last time I went to a different eye clinic they said that the condition that I had would require a corneal surgery. After a big Nope from me I just managed with my limited eyesight for years. But now that Im older, my vision was to a point where I had to start to do something as it was impacting my driving. Enter Dr. Huynh. It turns out that he had special knowledge of the condition that I had and then all I needed were some unique hybrid-type contacts. His kind of demeanor and his knowledge gave me confidence that I was going to have a good eyesight for the first time in years. He and his staff had to jump through so many hoops and barriers in order to get these contacts for me.there were issues with the insurance providers, to my phobia of having things going into my eyes, Etc. And they helped me through them all. They managed to go through all the insurance paperwork which turned out to be an unusual amount due to the unique condition that I had. They took that administrative brunt off of me and did all of the work internally in the office. His staff helped me through my phobia of having things going to my eyes by kindly walking me through the entire process and educating me. And in the end, I got the insurance to cover my contacts and his staff showed me what to do (and what not to do) while shoving a foreign object into my eyes. And more importantly, I can see again. If you need an eye doctor in our shopping for a good one look no further. I am so happy that I found this clinic and Dr Huynh. If you go here you wont be disappointed.**Update** 11/28/2020I felt the need to write up an update as Ive been with Macali Eye Clinic for some time now. And suffice to say, Im still very pleased with the services that Im getting at here. Turns out that the type of eye issue that I have isnt very common (not necessarily rare but definitely a challenge to get correct). The front office staff is some of the nicest and most competent medical front office staff that Ive dealt with. Youve heard horror stories about things being messed up, appointments missed, lack of communication . . . none of these happen with this front office. Additionally, Im impressed with the way that Ive seen them keep the area clean during the COVID pandemic. In the waiting room, Ive seen them clean the chairs after people get up and leave. In the examination room, I they clean the equipment before you ever go near it. A family member of mine is high risk and Im especially conscious of where I go and what I do so as not to risk them. I truly appreciate the way that the clinic keeps their business clean and secure. And I wanted to give a special shout out to Dr. Borgeson. My previous doctor had left the clinic which can be a little nerve racking when you feel that you have found a good doctor (i.e. you never know who you are going to get next). Well, Dr. Borgeson was even better than my last doctor. She is patient, explains things to me very clearly and shows a genuine interest in trying to make sure that my concerns are listened to and address (you dont feel like just another patient/number). She has diligently worked in trying to make sure that my eyesight is cared for and worked on. I try to make sure that I book my appointments specifically with her now since she has a clear understanding of my uncommon condition. Ill say what I said a while back, if you need an eye doctor/clinic, this is the best place that ive been to.
Very nice visit, all the staff was friendly and considerate.
MUST AVOID VISITING THIS CLINIC. Dr. does not explain the necessity of test. they do not perform all the test and does not explain why? still they are charging $. I found very hasty service. Beware, the Dr is not MD. I recommend to not to visit this clinic, if you love your eyes.
Have been going to Macali Eye for years but no more. The staff is almost all Spanish and seem to look down on us as though they are better then the rest of us. They forget that our hard earned dollars pay their salary. One staff engaged in a stupid argument but finally conceded the patient was right. There were 4 people at the desk when I picked up my RX and not one of them said Thank You Is everything all right Is there anything else we can help you with ? Nothing. No ackowledgement - just handed the bag. So I did not say thank you either - why bother - they wouldnt no the difference between their uppity attitude and their rudeness. For no personal service you might as well go to the big box store and save money.
They are always friendly with me. Very flexible and were careful with my budget.
I just wanted to send you a good bye note and give you some advice for the future. I gave you 3 stars only because Ive been with you for 16 yrs and have found the staff friendly and do like Dr Macauli a lot for the way he has worked with my with my Glaucoma. That said, the other dayI was angry to find out that I couldnt have my peripheral visual field test because last year due to your new policy, I had it split from my annual test which was in January but the visual was in June. Last year they said why dont you come back when I get my pressure check to do it so I didnt think anything of the time that it was scheduled - otherwise I would have scheduled it sooner. But the fact I had to come back to have it done irked me. I use to have it all done at once. So,last year i was surprised in January that it wasnt until my exam was over that I wasnt getting visual fieid test and had to make an appointment to get it another time basically the reason was because it stretches the appointment time ie; it keeps the customer there longer and they may get tired but Ive been doing it for 14 yrs prior to that. The other day I was told now that I couldnt have it again on the exam date and my insurance wont cover a visual till June because its once every 12 months. The excuse given why they split it last year and are continuing to do this is new tests added to that which now the visual isnt accurate (after 14 years) and these new tests have more time restraints which I said I didnt have a problem is doing it all at once.So now Ive decided to go to Dr Benake who is an Opthamologist and found out with my insurance I can have 2 visual test (1 every 6 months) with an Opthamologist and only one with an Optometrist that is if the doctor deems it necessary..So I guess you did me a favor.Keep this in mind, after I had my cataract surgery with Dr. Benake in 2013 (whom by the way Dr. Macauli recommended), I could have continued with Dr. Benake as he was only 15 minutes away instead of continuing with Dr. Macauli who is 30-40 minutes away.however I chose Dr Macauli due to our history and I like Dr. Macauli. So this is mainly for the staff to look at the patients insurance and understand that when a person like myself who has moderate Glaucoma waits another 6 months to have that visual test, it could be a problem for that patient. And I only picked June last year because it was suggested to have it with my next pressure check. It would have been sooner if I knew this. You (the staff) might not realize this with me but it was a few years ago, that Dr Macauli saw I wasnt given a visual for 1 1/2 yrs. And that was your responsibility as I came in either 4-5 months at a time for pressure checks. He was surprised I wasnt given that back then. And it was during that time I lost about 1/3rd of my vision in my right eye.ok..one for my husband who called yesterday for a transfer form of medical records for himself (ive called Dr. Benakes office who put one in the mail for me). Someone told him you dont have one these forms. Really? What if a new patient came to you and wanted their records transferred? So there you have it. Because of more new types of tests which for all I know is overkill ..expensive Im sure for the Dr but I have no idea how many new tests are necessary and combining the fact you have to come back a different time for the annual test that Im leaving after 16 yrs. And I hear you took on a new doctor. I sure hope you dont grow too big and lose that special customer service that kept me there for 16 yrs.
They advertise open until 7pm on certain days, however, when trying to schedule an appointment they said those are only office hours and does not apply to appointments. So why advertise it.... thats my gripe with them.Edit: After calling back the following day and speaking to a different associate they apologized and we both agreed it was a misunderstanding and they were able to change my appointment.
Best eye clinic i have ever been to.
