Recd an offer via email for my used car via Internet. Went in and had my car appraised. End offer was exactly same as the one emailed to me. Only thing is the whole process took about 3 hours on a Sat morning, there was a lot of us waiting on them during this process.

Very smooth process. We received a very fair quote for our 2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 from Carmaxs web site and brought the car to my local store (Potomac Mills) a few days later. Admittedly, our now former car was in great shape and will be an outstanding, reliable used vehicle for someone, but I was still pleased that after the inspection and test drive, Carmax honored the online quote - no questions asked. Thanks also to Tracy in the business office who demonstrated outstanding customer service and professionalism.

I’ve only ever bought my cars from Carmax.This was my first time buying a vehicle in VA. I bought two cars in one week. My first experience was with Carl— it was awful. He left my mom and I at his desk for long periods of time without giving updates. He took on other customers and just let us sit at his desk for over an hour. When he was with us, he was constantly on his phone. Even when we walked in, he was taking a personal call and didn’t end it until minutes after he had brought us to his desk. Overall horrible customer service. We had to ask other employees for updates because Carl was nowhere to be found. I also found out days later when I was back with my husband to get his car, Carl did not have me fill out the proper paperwork for my vehicle.My second experience was with Jorge. He was wonderful. He really worked with us and kept us updated throughout the entire process. Jorge is the only reason for the 4 stars.

I was interested in a car located 2 hours away and made a simple inquiry. Without obligation CarMax shipped the car to a dealer close by and set me up with a test drive. I already had financing when I went in so when I decided to purchase the car the entire process from arrival to driving away took less than 2.5 hours. Everyone, from salesman, to paperwork person, to random employees working the shop were friendly and easy to work with. This was my first experience with CarMax and I assure you on any future car purchases I will check CarMax first.

Im very happy with my car I purchased through CarMax--this was the first time I actually bought a car here. But I think its important that others understand that the CarMax business model is totally unlike any car dealership you have ever gone to before: the good news is you wont have to worry about haggling over a price, so there is absolutely no pressure on you as a buyer. Another positive feature is that you are not limited to just whats at your local CarMax lot--every CarMax dealership in the country is available for you to shop at through their website. However, it is very important that buyers understand that if you do find a car at another location and you choose to have that car transported to your local CarMax dealership, youre going to wait at least 2 weeks and maybe as much as 4 weeks for your car to arrive. Thats an important consideration if you dont have another car to drive while youre waiting; and if you are using a rental car, which was my situation, your insurance company may not cover you while youre waiting for your car to arrive.So your other option is to drive or fly to that other dealership and pick your car up and drive it home--thats what I did. Youll save the transport fee, but you need to decide if its worth the time and expense to travel perhaps hundreds of miles to another CarMax location and drive your car home.But again, overall Im very happy with my experience with CarMax.

This was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. I placed a vehicle on hold on Thursday, August 12, 2021 (They have a policy that a vehicle can be placed on hold for up to a week). I set an appointment to test drive the vehicle on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:30 am. I told the call center rep how far I would be traveling to see this vehicle and I wanted to make sure it would be available. I received a confirmation text on Friday regarding my appointment and I confirmed that I would be there. Fast forward to Saturday morning. I traveled 312 miles to test drive this vehicle. I get on the lot and the vehicle had been sold. The salesman tried to blame the call center and said that the vehicle had never been placed on hold. The salesman went and told the sales manager the problem and he just told the salesman to tell me too bad its been sold. I sat in the parking lot and called the call center. I asked to speak with a supervisor at the call center. I spoke with John and he assured me that the vehicle had been placed on hold and that the hold had been removed by the dealer. He said he was going to call the sales manager and speak with him. John said the manager needed to work with me to make it right. I later received a text that the sales manager would give me a call, but I never heard from him. The sales manager has no customer service skills. This dealer should not be under the CarMax umbrella, if they arent going to adhere to CarMax policies. Traffic was really hectic and this trips took 14 1/2 hours. It took us 5 1/2 hours to get there and it took us about 7 1/2 hours to return. We also spent about an 1 1/2 hour at the lot waiting for help. By the time this day was over my head was hurting and I was hurt by the callous treatment from the sales manager.

I needed to replace my vehicle after an accident, and Carmax Potomac Mills had the exact vehicle I was looking for. I set up an online appointment for a test drive. The morning of my appointment I was running late, but I called and it wasn’t an issue. Mike Deasis was my salesperson and he was super helpful, especially when we ran into a hiccup with the loan paperwork - he took care of everything and got me on the road. Rachel Moore in the business office was also very friendly, easy to work with, and her assistance was greatly appreciated. Finally, Donna in the business office was fantastic. After driving 2 hours home, I realized I had left my garage door opener in my rental car at the Carmax facility. I called and spoke to Donna, who was super friendly and promised to grab my garage door opener and overnight it to me! All in all, a wonderful experience!

Selling my car was as easy as that process could be and I got a great price for it. Buying a new car was also pretty easy. Michael was a huge help in the browsing process; very accommodating and patient. Since buying the car Ive been doing all the maintenance I can under the 90 day warranty, making sure its in great condition. Jessica in the service center has been unbelievably kind and helpful throughout that process, even going so far as to take at least 20 minutes of her time to sit in my car and figure out the Bluetooth system since even the manual couldnt help me figure it out. Couldnt sing her praises higher

Devon was great! - He explained to us some of the benefits of purchasing the Honda CR-V and even recommended some info to look into in order to get the best out of our car. We were also able to purchase an extended warranty at a decent price. I had purchased another vehicle recently through VROOM.COM and even though the price was great, Ive had nothing but headaches trying to get decent service to provide titling information, hence the decision to purchase the 2nd vehicle through CarMax. CarMax also gave me a decent price to buy my Colorado Truck which helped greatly in decision making of purchasing the CR-V. I also liked the fact you can test drive the car without a salesman present, it truly makes the experience much better. I will definitely keep them in mind for next time.

Overall very easy experience. I used the website for a quote, set an appointment and ended up being six minutes late thanks to traffic. No issues, they still saw me. The gentleman was friendly and had my vehicle inspected immediately. It took probably fifteen minutes and they came back confirming the full amount. I then went through with the sale. That took probably another 15 minutes of waiting while they coordinated with my lender but once that was done my part with paperwork only took about five minutes with a nice lady named Donna. I was out the door with a check for $3k over what KBB said my vehicle was worth. Great experience.

For as busy as CarMax is I would have expected a smoother execution. I wanted to title and register our car purchase myself and the employees still insisted I pay CarMax the state sales tax and title fees due only to DMV only to turn around and make us wait a week for a CarMax corporate check made out to DMV. It wasted our time and over complicated the sale. Buyers should also realize the hidden fees at CarMax are creeping up and up. Like federal or state taxes it would be easier for everyone if it were truly a flat price. The car we sold them they turned around and marked it up 30 percent and have already sold it. I am fine with that because I didn’t want to deal with buyers myself. And it was a flat price offer. I really wanted to turn around and sneak in some fees as that is what they do to buyers. In the end we got the car we wanted.

Great experience. Much thanks to Frankie and Evelyn for a very convenient, trust-worthy, smooth upfront experience. People warned me that CarMax sells some of its vehicles pricier than others, perhaps so, but for good reason: you are literally paying that little extra for the trust and convenience. No hidden fees, no doubling the price from the mark up, no fast depreciation after the car leaves the lot. Plus, they save you a couple trips to the DMV (That alone should be worth a lot). Keep in mind, this is a hard market today for used cars because of Covid and the chip shortage, so CarMax has even better value than this.I first came and bought a Nissan Altima, then after 2 weeks I felt this perhaps is not the car for me and I saw a better car. And, without any question, they accepted my return (return process finished within the hour) and gave me a different car after I test drove it where I only had to pay the difference. Simply amazing. Love the Love Your Car Guarantee. Seriously saved me. So in love with my Toyota Camry right now. Thank you CarMax for bringing some happiness into my life!

The initial part of the process doing the appraisal on the car and communicating what was happening was good. However once we moved back to the business office the process became longer and confusing. Initially the salesperson at the first desk said the whole process would only take 45 minutes to an hour but the process ended up taking over two almost to three hours. Not really sure why I had to drive the car in myself to the service dock and it seemed that this is where the process broke down. Otherwise fair pricing and nice customer service.

The best experience I have had. First, 2 screens, one for them and one for you, so nothing is hidden. Second, they give you 30 min to try the car on your OWN!!! third, No pushy salesman trying to sell you everything and force your hand. They explain every thing clearly and slowly so you wont miss anything. Financing process is smooth and simple with them. What I did is I called the night before to apply for financing with a representative, went next day to test and finalize everything. That easy!!! They have good rates. This was one of the best car buying experiences Ive had. No pressure to buy. I have sold a vehicle to Carmax in the past and heard from friends positive things when buying. I went to trade in my old car and buy one that day. I did the initial online appraisal and once I took the car in for an on-site appraisal, it matched with no problem. I was allowed to roam free through the car lot and check out the cars. The car I wanted was not available on site but the team was ready to have one shipped from another site. However, I did not want to wait and was able to find another with similar style and capabilities to my satisfaction. In short, this was a positive experience and I highly recommend checking out this other than any other Carmax.

My whole experience was very good. Youssef Shalaby was very helpful and friendly, and did a great job at explaining the processes of selling and buying a vehicle - and, even though I did not purchase a vehicle in the end as CarMax did not have a small used car that I liked, Youssef showed me a good mid-sized option, and let me take a test drive. . He also got a written offer of purchase, which I accepted. I returned a couple of days later and sold my vehicle, and that process went very smoothly.My only complaint was that CarMax was not able to give me a ride to the Metro/Train Station after the transaction. That might be a good service to offer.

Listen to me. I absolutely HATE doing anything car related. It stresses me out. I bought this Subaru Forester for my wife almost 3 months ago. I’m driving us to her parents house three hours away and we hit a nail. Tire is done for. I call Carmax to see about replacing it, they say to bring it in and they will take care of it. Perfect. I bring it in that day. End up waiting half an hour. I go back to the service desk to find out they can’t replace it today because they need to order 4 tires because the nail has gone through the sidewall and the car is AWD so all the tires need to be replaced. The gentleman who spoke with me assured me it would be a quick turn around. That was Tuesday. I get a voicemail today (Thursday) from Jessica saying the tires came early and they can get it taken care of Monday. I call back and ask about just dropping the car off thinking that by some miracle they will get to it sooner than Monday. Jessica tells me to bring it in and she will see what she can do but makes no promises. That afternoon I get a call (Jessica again) they found time to get the tires on. I’m pumped. Jessica was a plug for sure. And she had my tank filled! Jessica is a real one. Service like hers made the car problem experience suck far less.

Just purchased my car on the 16th and had to come back on the 18th in order the purchase the car in full and change the paperwork in my name instead of my uncle’s. DO NOT BUY FROM CARMAX! SPECIFICALLY THIS ONE. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE BUSINESS OFFICE EVER.I bought a 2019 Lexus NX with all the specs that I had been searching for, for over a month. I was so excited that Id finally found it with everything that I wanted and I figured Carmax would be the the quickest, easiest & most honest....WRONG. The car had been in a wreck previously on the entire passenger side. They didnt even take the time to clearcoat the door handles after painting it. In my excitement and haste I hadnt really paid attention to the passenger side and when I finally went over ther after having the car for a few days, I realized what was going on. I then began to do a closer inspection and realized there was oversrpray on the black trim which was another sign that it had been painted. That took me back to when I went to get my windows tinted, the person who was tinting my windows showed me a deep gash in the window that he couldnt remove. He stated that the last time hed seen that, the person had to have the dealer replace the window. It all added up to the car being in a previous accident.I call the business office to discuss because I wouldve actually kept the car if theyd sold it to me for what it was actually worth as a crashed vehicle and they tell me no and to bring it back in and theyll just fix all of the issues. The first woman I spoke with wouldnt answer any questions and just kept telling me I needed to speak with my salesperson. I asked what could he do and she just kept saying to speak with him.I took the car back because obviously they dont want to own up to their shady business practices. They owed me my down payment and told me 7-14 days. I have yet to receive it and I call and they tell me 21 business days and theres nothing more they can do.BUYER BEWARE!

All I can say is you do not get the best car experience they are very unorganized and they lie about you will be in and out. Drove 4hr to come get a car that was supposed to be reserved. Could not get in touch with anyone to say that I was running late. Get to the store and someone else was test driving the car. Then I have to pay $15 for a copy of a original document that I already had. Now after all of that you still have to wait for signing documents

Waited and hour for them to call me back to sell my vehicle. Was told it would be another 15 minutes before I would head to the back to sign docs and get my plates. Ended up waiting another hour because they didn’t get my plates from my vehicle. I am currently still waiting to sign documents to getMy car sold.I don’t mind waiting but when I’m told 15 minutes I expect that no more than 30 but so far it’s been 2 hours. This process should not take this long.

This has been a mixed experience at best. I found a vehicle located in New York and worked with someone in the call center to get it transferred to the local store. Dan Woda was the representative and did an excellent job of communicating and keeping me updated. I felt very comfortable working with him. Once the vehicle reached the store...well, thats where things begin to go sideways. I test drove the car and recognized that two of the advertised features didnt seem to be working. After looking at the vehicle the local salesperson told me that previous owners often turn these types of features off and I would have to look through the system/owners manual and figure out how to turn them back on. I understood, its CarMax and I didnt expect the salespeople to be experts in every make and model of car. Once home I figured I would break out the owners manual and figure it out myself.While filling out the loan application I asked the same salesperson to double-check and make sure that the new tires, which CARMAX installed, were run-flats (as advertised). This was important because I noticed while inspecting the vehicle that it did not come with a spare or a temporary kit to repair flats. After going to the back where they were doing a final inspection and cleanup on the car he returned and assured me that they were indeed run-flats. (It should be noted that the vehicle comes with run-flats from the factory.)After a few days of looking through the owners manual and utilizing Google I determined that those two features, blindspot detection, and lane departure, didnt actually exist on my particular vehicle. I then became skeptical about the tires and decided to check out the manufacturers website and stop by my local tire shop. Surprise! They are not run-flats.I contacted Dan about the situation and he immediately apologized and said that he would make leadership aware of the situation and find a way to resolve the issues. It took a week before I was actually able to speak with anyone about the three missing items.Obviously, these are three items that impact pricing. Surely CARMAX would do the right thing. The GM that I spoke with was willing to have his team look at the car and determine if the vehicle was indeed not as advertised, but I was told that none of those things actually impact their pricing. In fact, he put me on hold and said he was speaking to his buyer. He told me those items do not have ANY impact on the price they set for a vehicle. Really, features dont impact pricing! Thats funny because I found two identical vehicles, the same make, and model as my own, one with the features and one without. Yes, they are the same year, make, model, and with odometers that are within 2000 miles of each other. Guess what? They are not priced the same despite the fact that the GM insisted that they would be. I also called two other stores and asked to speak with their buyers. I simply asked that if they had two vehicles that were the same, one with my missing features and one without, would they price them the same. Both of them said, No. In fact, one went on to say that those are features people often ask about.Normally I purchase my vehicle CPO from the actual dealer. This time was different because of the shortage of vehicles. I decided to try out one of the online and easy to buy from folks.Its a mistake that I will not make again.

I got a car from car max over a year ago, sales guy was great. Process is convenient.However, I wasted money on the extended warranty. If your car has issues they will procrastinate you and give you an appointment at least a week later, and even if you come on time, they will be ridiculous and tell you wait a couple of hours, no loaner, and no rental till they decide to diagnose the car hours later, and keep it for two or three days.And the worst thing is that they will tell you the car might take a week, but if they finished the car, they will ask you to go to enterprise location and drop the car their, and if you don’t do it on the same day you will be charged for it.The most terrible experience ever. I will report them for unethical practices, and I don’t recommend anyone to buy their extended warranty.

The whole process was very simple and easy, though it took a little longer than anticipated. I initially requested an on-line quote and took that into the local retail store thinking they would nickel and dime me about things I didnt mention in the online process, but to my surprise they honored the online quote and told me I could walk over to the Business Office and complete the transaction in less than 30minutes. I didnt expect to actually sell the car that day so I returned 2 days later with all the necessary documentation. They were very busy so I had to wait for almost 2 hours (in my car) to see the purchasing rep. The actual process of selling the car did indeed take much less than 30 minutes, and I walked out a happy man with a big fat check in my pocket :) Overall an excellent experience Ive already recommended Carmax to several friends who have a car to sell.

Great experience! Friendly helpful staff- pretty quick assist with selling my car - for.a fair price. However, discovered the next morning that business office person kept my drivers license . Returned to the office- and they could not find it. Luckily, I saw my car loaded on the truck about to be hauled away to auction. Rachel in the office - who was helpful but likely thought that I’d misplaced it myself- was kind enough to ask the driver for his documentation packet. Once she found the folder with my car’s info, she opened it up and promptly found my license. Very grateful for the assistance, but would not have liked to have that experience in the first place…. Nonetheless, I will continue to consider CarMax when wanting to sell a car in the future.

I went to CarMax checked out a few vehicles....🚘a car sales person approached me but I wasnt ready..... Once I was ready NOOO other salesperson would help me because they seen me talking to the 1st salesperson..... So after waiting 15 min we just left....I cant understand why 5 or 6 salespersons doing nothing couldnt assist me 🤔🥺👎🏾

I have had nothing but issues since I got my car. 2 days after purchasing the car I go to wash it and find a crack in the windshield hidden under the hood and windshield wiper. $900 later that’s finally fixed with no help from Carmax. Wouldn’t have fixed it had it not spread all the way from the bottom to the top. I bought my car on 6-10 and as of today (7-26) I still have no title or paperwork requested by dmv to register my car. Countless times calling the business office and sending them what DMV needs and now 3 waisted trips to DMV because of incompetence of the staff at Carmax. Not to mention the almost 5 hours waiting the day to pick up the car after a 4 hour one way drive because of miss communication and incompetence of sales staff that’s been there 6 years. Everything was supposed to be completely done before arriving. I was supposed to sign and head out but no, of course that didn’t happen. Can’t wait for this to be over. I just want it registered and in my name so I can get plates. So tired of dealing with these people. Will never buy from them again. I’m ready to just take the car back to them and say it’s your problem since it’s still registered and titled to you all.

Easiest and quickest car purchase Ive made. I was allowed to test drive the vehicle on my own for as long as I needed. Then, without any pressures, the salesman provided me my financing options. I went home to think over the option while he puts the vehicle on holds for up to 72 hrs. When I came back to make the purchase, the transaction took less than 25 minutes from start to end.

This was my first carmax experience. It was excellent! Jorge is truly amazing we scheduled a test drive at 10:00 AM. Spent 45 mins test driving and we were out in under 2 hours having traded in our old car and financed a like new 2019 Hyundai Ionic. Jorge was up front, very detailed oriented, answered all our questions thoroughly, and even suggest a great place we can go to get our celebratory lunch right after. All in all this was a very good Saturday, made me feel like we were back in prior to this plague.

I heard a lot of great things about CarMax but this past weekend i live the experience by taking my Subaru to sell and find another Subaru or of its equivalent model year 2020!The entire process was very methodical and accurate. It took me 30 minutes from the time i arrived to the my 2014 Subaru Forester was appraised with an official offer!Appraisal was fair and i got a check cut out by CarMax in my name. The experience is unbelievably great in my opinion!👍I wish i were able to find a new or relatively new vehicle to purchase. I did succeed that i called a friend of mine to come and pick up then go to buy a cat!Great job CarMax Team👌

Taken in for two issues. Check engine light same on and problem was resolved, as well as a trim piece they broke.Second problem was after purchasing the vehicle I found rust in a rear door jam and on the edge of the fender well. Door jam was sloppy cleaned and painted. The fender well wasnt touched. When I pointed out the rust, split metal and flex, the service manger said Its supposed to flex. Funny, the one on the other side doesnt flex. Who knew Ford made flexible and inflexible rear fender wells on the same car? Amazing.- Responded to the email address provided, no further response from CarMax.

It was a Saturday morning, it was already pretty busy but I was taken care of like I was the only one there. Tony, Walter, and Rachel took great care of me and most of all- I forgot his name,(big red beard, has 2 dogs, listens to audiobooks).
