Thank goodness for local small businesses! I had a great experience here purchasing a new lawn mower and other yard tools from the salespeople, and Bobby. They were very knowledgeable and friendly. I had a lot of questions, and they guided me to the best options. Too often we take local businesses for granted--Im glad this one has survived the pandemic and is here with service and quality!

All around bad experience. The man who answers the phone is so off-putting that I dread calling. When I called to set up service he made mean comments about my non local number. Dont be nasty to someone who is trying to use your services.Gave a service estimate, exceeded estimate. Gave drop off window, I waited at home all morning to make sure not to miss them and they didnt drop off during said time. I called to ask about my lawn tractor and the older man answered the phone just to say they were closed.Very overpriced and they seem dishonest.One upside is the service man (Jeremy?) seems nice and helpful.Will be going anywhere else next time I need service.

Brought in a trimmer that lost compression. Warranty had expired but trimmer was barely used. They talked with Stihl and I got a new trimmer under warranty. Wasnt expecting that but the effort was very much appreciated.

I dont typically write reviews, but this business earned 5 stars by providing top notch service. They go above and beyond by discussing product options, giving honest expertise and providing after sales support. They even filled up my new Stihl chainsaw with gas and oil, made sure it started and provided a 2 year warranty. You just cant get that at a big box store.So buy local and feel confident that if you need help after you take your product home that the guys at Southern York Turf and Tractor will take care of you.GREAT PRICES - GREAT SERVICE - GREAT PRODUCTS

Received AWESOME service from Bobby today! called looking for a STIHL chainsaw, got pricing and confirmed stock of the product. very knowledgeable and assisted me with choosing a case for the chainsaw. even went the extra mile to share doubling the warranty at no extra charge with purchase of the oil i would need in the future. Yay! my husband will LOVE his birthday present i give him tomorrow! Thanks Bobby for all your help!

Nothing runs like a deer in headlights either. 8.5 hours threw 2 belts. Bought a new tractor cause I dont have time to mess with the old tractor I had. now I have 2 tractors sitting that are doing nothing Thanks John deer for showing me the lightEdit: I told you I have an extended warranty. I work 2 jobs and you close at 5 I dont get home till 5 from my first job. You didnt do anything but tell me you couldnt help cause I cant bring it to you period

Went down to get a radiator cap last week, they said they would order and took my number. Never called back! Called back today and was told they have it. I had to confirm it is a 620D for a thermostat. I called back and was told no radiator cap and no gasket for a thermostat. Why doesnt JD put the gasket in the thermostat box? Who puts in a new thermostat without a new gasket? Anyway, I thought the staff was not very helpful or friendly so Im going to Carlisle!

The dealer wouldnt even budge. Was unprofessional didnt care if you were there or not. Wouldnt even talk to you or try to offer anything in my price range. Just stood outside in his crocks and didnt even care.

Great service I purchased a riding and mower and requested a different deck for it. after getting it home I decided the mower would not meet my expectations and request to have a different model fitted with the same deck. This caused them extra work to make me happy but had no problem helping me.they are easy to work with and understand your needs.the service department tuned up my snow blower and it now works as good as new and it is about 15 years old.Dont go to big box stores for your mowing needs the small business people are the only true professionals, knowing all that is needed to get you the correct machine for your needs.the sales people in big box stores may work in lawn and garden today and tomorrow the might be in paint or kitchens, not knowing what they are selling.thanks Southern York Turf & Tractor

I must say the experience that I had was extremely pleasant. These people were way more upfront then what Im used to! When I called to get my mower serviced, they figured out who I was and what I had, because Id been there before, then the guy put me on hold. when he came back, he gave me a total, saying it included the service, parts, and transportation charge. I was skeptical, honestly, but I need to mow grass soon. He told me that amount was for the basic parts and service, and if it needed other work he would let me know, after they picked it up, and they wouldnt do any more work without my approval. Honestly my stomach was in knots, but the mower didnt need any more work, and the total that he gave me was like $12 or something less than what I actually paid!!!! I admire Southern York Turf for being so upfront with me, and getting my mower back to me so quickly!!!

If you’ve been doing this more than a week, you should be able to accurately quote a price for a service and not come in almost double what you initially quoted. Smarmy service guy behind the desk acts like he’s doing me a favor instead of a service I’m actually paying for. Can’t tell you how happy I am I did not purchase my John Deere tractor there. You got my $141.00 and that is all you will get. Would not recommend.

I recently had a small guard on my mower deck work loose. I took the part into the store and Bobby immediately printed out the schematics for the X300 tractor. Bobby thoroughly explained and demonstrated how to attach the part on another tractor.Customer service at Southern York Tractor is outstanding!

They even went out of their way to repair my equipment that isnt a Deere brand and did an excellent job. Again the gentleman at the front desk are awesome. I visited York Turf and Tractor to purchase a proper weed wacker for side jobs and a budding landscaping business. Mark walked me through the Stihl product line and I ended up going with a 111r with a few attachments. I had a very enjoyable experience and encourage those new to the industry to check out their store. They know their stuff!If you’re looking for a more personal customer service experience, skip the big retailers like Lowe’s/Home Depot and hit Turf and Tractor. Just my 2 cents...!

Friendly knowledgeable parts department that wont lie to you to make a sale. That says a lot in my book. Only downside I saw was it can be a little difficult to get out of the lot if you want to go west.

Wanted parts for a Deere tractor. Gave a serial number. Drove down for the parts and returned home. Tried to assemble and found that everything was wrong. Had to make another trip to return the parts. I ended up getting the parts elsewhere providing the same information and the other dealer got them right.Unfortunately what I have found with most dealers anymore there is a lot of turnover and no one learns the machines well.Also when I initially called to order the parts the counter person asked if I had part numbers. Please be aware if I had taken the time to look up numbers myself I would have shopped for the best price.

Good service at the York store, they had the parts I needed and when I needed a repair job, they picked up and dropped off the JD tractor, albeit for a fee. The mower deck was repaired, cleaned and blades sharpened (complimentary), within a reasonable time. They are the only JD service center in the area, so you cant expect the turn-around to be quick, but they did complete my repair quicker than they estimated, and the total came out less then estimated. Tractor was at their facility for about 10 days. Would go back again, since I got the feeling they provide the JD service you would expect... not the cheap 20-minute oil change type of service.

Horrible customer service. I was there to spend money on a chain saw bar and chain but the attitude the grumpy service guy had changed my mind on that. He was miserable to deal with.I decided to give them another chance with my John Deere riding mower. It wouldn’t start and that’s all I had ask them to look at and fix. 2 weeks later, still no call from them. I called and they said they were going to call me. They had a long list of things: needed belts, pulleys, guide wheels and bushings, tires, hood, etc. it nothing to do with the mower not starting. The bill to do what they wanted was over $900 and that wasn’t even getting the mower started. I picked the mower up and I’m don’t with them.Bunch of grumpy employees. Horrible service.2 days after posting the above review, the assistant manager did reach out to me via a phone call and apologized. We had a very good conversation about the 2 transactions. After speaking with her, I am willing to give them another chance when the need arises.

THE PEOPLE THERE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING THE PARTS GUYS HAS PLENTY OF TIME WORKING ON JOHN DEERE EQUIPMENT AND IS VERY SMART. ONE GUY SAID The parts guy is pretty condescending and Im not sure why because he is a moron. I shut him down and made him look like an ass...The mower I bought is pretty much a turd and when I went to get parts ( because they wore out in less than two years) they charged me for them, even though it was under warranty, just because they said they HAD to install them...Like Im gonna load up my mower and drive 45 minutes, back and forth, for them to take 3 days to do a job that I can easily do in 15 minutes. Yeah, im pretty ticked and plan on informing corporate of my experience. I HATE TO SAY BUT THIS GUY THAT SAID THIS IS PERTTY DUMB! YOU CAN BE SURE THAT THE PARTS MAN KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING.

SYTT once again came through with their Customer Service practices. As I prepared my John Deere 318 for the initial 2018 mowing, I discovered that something had happened to my PTO. The deck blades would not engage. I called and talked with Service Personnel who gave me several suggestions of quick things to check. If that failed to resolve the problem, they asked me to bring it in and offered to conduct a quick check to see if it was a simple, easy issue to fix. As it turns out, I loaded up the tractor and took it in. Within a few minutes the experienced Technician found a hidden, partially disengaged, connector and had the blades turning and looking to make some clippings! He sent me on my way and thanked me for being a valued customer.

My wife and I were told once from a friend who was told how terrible a restaurant was that we were going to go to. The food was horrible and overpriced. The service was terrible and unfriendly. We decided to see for ourselves. Everything was the complete opposite. The food was great. The service was fantastic and staff was extremely friendly. So glad we did not take someone elses opinion and not go. We have been dining there now for years. A few years ago, I purchased a LA 1500 John deere riding mower. It has been a great riding machine. On Wednesday of this week a hinge holding up one of the sides of the deck snapped ( I have been abusing it of late). It would need welded. I called and was told they could fix but it would take about 1.5 weeks to get to because of their workload. I brought it in at 10:30 A.M. The sales manager told me that they would try and get to it in between large jobs (mine would take about an hour). At 2:30 that afternoon Bobby( service mgr) called to tell me it was done. I picked it up and brought it home and hooked it back up. By 3:30 the same afternoon, I was cutting my grass before the rains came down. For years now, I have been buying all parts /oil etc... from here. Very professional staff. Very courteous. Like our restaurant, I am glad I do not take someone elses negatives opinions. I see for myself. Hats off to Bobby and Southern York Tractor and the entire team. You have my business.P.S. Bobby called me the next day to see if I was able to hook it up and was it performing ok. I was very impressed with that .

The single worst experience ever at any dealership. I would drive 100 miles to shop elsewhere. The staff is rude, the process is confusing, and the prices are unreasonable. The staff seems to expect the customer to you already know everything before they get to the store so that the staff does not have to work at all. There is very little more that I can think of that could be more wrong with a single locatiom. TRUST ME OR TRY THEM - YOU WILL SEE
