Dr. McDowell wass excellent, and this review is not a reflection of him but of his staff. Unfortunately I had the worst experience with his staff as I feel that they have really dropped the ball.I called on 11/13/2020 to place an order for contacts. My rx was expiring on 11/19/2020 (in 6 days), and I wanted to place a last minute contact order since I was almost out. I called and placed my order, and the girl on the phone told me they would call me in about 2 weeks when my contacts were ready for pick up. Okay, great! Then fast forward to today (12/14/2020, one month after placing my order). I had not heard from the Vision Center, so I decided to give them a call. I asked the receptionist when my contacts would be available for pick up, as I havent received a call yet, and I was just making sure the order was okay. She responded saying shell look into it and call me back. A couple hours later, I receive a phone call from the Vision Center saying that my contact order was cancelled because apparently the order wasnt processed until 11/20/2020 and my prescription at that time was 1-day expired, and now I would not be able to reorder contacts without coming in for an exam. This is extremely frustrating because 1) I placed my contact order almost a week prior to the rx expiring. How it wasnt processed until the 20th and was somehow cancelled in the system is disappointing because the expiration date says 11/19/20 and there was ample time to place an order. And 2) had I not called the Vision Center myself to follow up on this, I would not have found out what happened to my order and would still be waiting for contacts. I requested to speak with the manager and was informed that there currently isnt one at this time. The technician called me (she was pretty rude by the way), I explained the situation to her, and after asking for a solution to the problem she said that she could give me 1 trial pair if I book an appointment for an eye exam. I understand there are policies put in place about expired prescriptions, I am a medical provider myself (PA). I am super understanding, and I am never one to complain because I know what it is like to deal with patients. But I was extremely disappointed as the ball was dropped TWICE by the staff at the Vision Center. My order should have been processed when I ordered it, and if there was a problem with my order, someone should have called.
The eye doctor here told me I HAD to have glasses in order to drive- under law regulation. Apparently he determined my vision was terrible (or worse than the law allows)- however I know this is not true as I never struggle to read or see, nor do I ever squint. I felt Uncomfortable and like the information I was given was incorrect. I took my business elsewhere to a different eye doctor who of course concluded I do NOT need any sort of prescription in order to drive- he also told me that what this Wal-Mart doctor told me was nonsense. The doctor at the Walmart vision center is in fact a liar.
Love Dr McDowell! Dr West fills in and is excellent as well. Ive been seeing them for years. Monica was also lovely and helpful, but Im not sure if shes there anymore. Had to have my sons glasses repaired with the warranty, and it was no problem.
Excellent service from both the receptionist and doctor. I walked in with no appointment and did not wait long. The doctor took his time and was thorough.
I hope no else comes here I’ve gone to different locations in the past with no issues, but this store is by far the absolute worst will never come back. It first took them 30 minutes to finally transfer to the right department, then I get there and they tell me they can’t do anything unless the doctor gives them my prescription when I’ve been an already established patient and have been in less then a year ago. I finally decide to have them just transfer my records give them all the info and go to the other optical location and they have none of my records after I gave them the fax number. So I go into the walmart optical store because I got tired of doing the never ending phone tag and once I get there they tell me they don’t have my prescription at all on file, then the girl realizes who I am and says, “oh hold on yes we do I just have to tell all customers this.” So after the absolute cluster I went through I am now never going to a walmart optical center specially 6 mile cypress and colonial location.
Great experience here from start to finish. Dr. McDowell and the staff were professional and friendly. My family and I plan to continue coming here for my eye exams.
Will never use this Dr. again. Use an in network doctor and still get billed $75 out of pocket, Insurance said it was $26. They over charge for exams and then they dont bill the insurance for the right exam price. Then they give every excuse in the book on the charges. The whole staff is deceitful!!!! Stay away from this place.
Friendly staff, Dr. McDowell very pleasant, needed new prescription/replacement for my 6+ old RGP contact lenses.. After the second set of new lenses, I cannot observe any difference in my vision.I have not returned for a third sessionDr A Henschel
Can not speak on the doctor because I left early due to the staff.Waste of time. Staff seems either under-trained or just clueless. Poor experience. It is Walmart, I wasnt expecting much but still managed to leave disappointed.
Dont even bother, inadequate customer service skills. Throw the whole staff away.
Although Ive never seen their doctor, I always bring my prescriptions to this vision center. I find the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable, especially Jay. Jay is exceedingly professional, experienced & courteous, also abundantly patient with kids.
The spanish women at the desk should be fired!! Has a nasty attitude.
Very friendly staff and dr. Mcdowell is wonderful.
The service was ok. As soon as I got there I waited for someone to at least acknowledge me since the 2 employees were busy but no one said a word so my in laws sat in some chairs & I followed along... 5 minutes later a Spanish women finally acknowledged me & gave me some paper work to sign, after a while she received it & then proceeded to viewing my eyes (with an attitude) Im not sure what was wrong with her but I believe that you shouldnt take your frustration out at work, she shouldve just stayed home if you ask me. Be more professional! Other than that the eye doctor introduced himself to me, he was a very nice guy & asked me if I had any concerns/questions & told me exactly what was wrong with my eyes... Afterwards there was a nicer lady who asked if Id picked out my frames yet & I said no so after a few minutes I finally picked one & she helped me order my prescription. Other than the rude employee with an attitude my experience was great! Ive read reviews where customers were not satisfied with there glasses because their lenses were either scratched or were prescribed the wrong prescription so Im crossing my fingers that it wont happen to me because I did spend more then I intended to spend.
Excellent. Jay and Dr McDowell are amazing.
Very friendly staff and physician
