It has ice cream from the Penn State Creamery. Do I need to say more?Ok I will. Variety is excellent, and the portions are generous. Staff does a very good job keeping the line moving so customers can be served quickly.Only downside is a lack of indoor seating. But plenty of benches outside in the shopping plaza.
I took a visit here recently and i’m quite sure it was one of the most rudely encounters I’ve ever received from a human being. This person was most likely the owner as i have done some research. I don’t understand where this guy’s sour attitude came from, but it could probably be that hes balding and he was jealous of my luscious curly hair. In all seriousness, he was a jerkoff to me for no absolute reason to a loyal customer that he has now lost. Why, you ask? All because i arrived 25 minutes before closing time excitedly asking why I couldn’t get any ice cream when he told me that it was closing “early”. I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with this horrible customer service as it is evident that other people have been writing almost similar reviews. I feel sorry for this Jim guy, he could be going through a hard time, but there is no valid reason to receive the outright disgusting customer service I experienced.
Some wannabe Bruce Jenner was waiting outside in a black suv, yelling at us that they were closed when it says online that it closes at 9 pm, it wasnt even 8’ o clock yet. He suggested to us if we had to complain to go online and do it. Never going back there again, horrible customer service.
Showed up at 755pm for ice cream this evening. On the website it says it closes at 9pm. Im not the type person to wait til last minute to go as i am in the restaurant business as well. However, they have the times misadvertised and on top of that the owner Mr Jim Merell was sitting in front of the storefront at 755pm. We were walking in and he informed us that we couldnt. I said why, its open until 9pm and he said we close at 8. I said ok, well its 755 and he proceeds to tell me there is a place to complain online. Never have i experienced this rude tone and horrible customer service before. I know this family has multiple businesses and i will be sure to stay away from every one of them. On top of that, i will be opening a facebook page for anyone else that experiences what i went through tonight. Do NOT support this business!!!
The mint chip ice cream is the greatest mint chip I have ever had. They might not have had chocolate, my favorite but the ice cream was great. It was also a very cozy shop.
I was glad to see Penn State Creamery ice cream in the area and was very excited to check this place out. Prices are steep and not justified for the serving size given. The service was also underwhelming. Staff were not very friendly or helpful. I love PSU Creamery ice cream, but probably will not be going back to get it here. Very disappointing!!
Every time we go to Happy Valley, one of our favorite places to go is the creamery, and now they’re selling it right in Harrisburg! The ice cream was delicious, the staff were friendly, and the pricing was good too. This is one of my favorite ice cream shops in Harrisburg and I can’t wait to come back!
Amazing shop, tasty ice cream, and lovely workers!
Its a small space but the quick and friendly staff got us our order promptly. All were wearing masks and enforcing six customers in the store at a time. Got the Death By Chocolate and Peanut Butter Swirl, although Keeny Beany is a popular choice. The pints ($6.50) come in paper packaging. One nice thing they offer is curbside ordering through their web site, which also tells you what flavors are out of stock.
Cost says $3.49 for 1 scoop $3.99 for 2. I got 1 scoop of 2 different flavors they put in 2 different cups and was charged for $3.49 twice?? Why not $3.99? They needed to be more specific. Otherwise always good ice cream
A nice creamy ice cream
We LOVE penn state creamery ice cream and we are so happy to be able to get it locally. Yummy ice cream and great staff. We will be going here often!
Best icecream in Pa
Love the amazing flavors! We can wait To go back again
Fun flavors. Very friendly staff. Small place no indoor seating.
I’m not sure who Professor Keeney is, but I owe a million thanks to him and to those who created his namesake’s ice cream, “Keeney Beany”. In their words, “featuring Nittany Scoops’ signature chocolate ice cream, vanilla bean and chocolate chips”, it is by far the closest thing to heaven that I have had the luxury of experiencing. The best part is, the staff are friendly and efficient too! There’s no awkwardness as you stand in the store, wondering what flavor to get. If you’re afraid of the social anxiety of feeling rushed to make a decision, leave those doubts at home because the employees at Nittany Scoops will make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. And, if you’re undecided, please be at ease knowing that almost whatever your choice is, the ice cream you pick will be incredible. I plan to try every flavor eventually, but as of now I can honestly say that Bittersweet Mint, Cookies and Cream, Death by Chocolate and Monkey Business are THE BEES KNEES. And of course, my absolute favorite, Keeney Beany. Thank you Professor Keeney (and can’t forget to also thank the folks behind the ice cream itself) for inspiring such deliciousness!
Phenomenal ice cream! Coconut with almonds and chocolate in it was to die for!
Best ice cream shop in town and if you’re looking for real quality ice cream look no further. A++ product, service, and staff.
