Found out Theobroma Chocolate has new ownership and was very happy with my purchase! I was greeted upon walking in, I asked for recommendations and was given many choices and told about the different chocolates. It was very nice, clean and smelled wonderful inside! Everything was packaged so nicely too! 10/10 recommend!
Love the new owner and management! Very cute place and amazing service! If you have not tried it yet go you will love it! Love that place 💓
5 stars for the chocolate from a Belgian...But!Please check the low rated reviews below and do something about it!I have been served twice now by the slim, tall, young lady and she has given me both times the idea that I am a nuisance to her.Unfriendly, snappy responses and definitely not a smile, that seems to hurt.I guess she wanted to get back to her book asap...
Tall slender young lady was very nice the first timeni went in and I was looking around and got a sample, came back on my pay day and a ruder older lady was there, she seemed annoyed I was there and wasnt helpful with anything. The chocolate was super amazing though, and Im about to go pick some up, i hope I dont deal with the same lady or imay come have to update to a 3 star, Im a very lenient person and its bad service but the quality is great. And not all the staff is rude. Just that one lady.
I was a regular customer up until a few daysago. The chocolate is tasty and I had been telling my mom how delicious it was for almost a year and finally she decided to come with me after she got vaccinated to check the place out. They were SO rude to us. The older lady at the check out didnt smile, say thank you, or remotely seem interested in helping us. My mom was so disappointed as I had been talking up this place for a long time. Now she will never go back and either will I. We were treated horribly for no reason. I never write reviews and it was important they know how we were treated. So sad their terrible service outweighed their chocolate.
First I spoke with Chuck over the phone, and he was super nice and attentive. Finally last weekend I called again and spoke with a lady who was very courteous and helpful. That day I went to Theobroma and was attended by another lady (a very welcoming and polite redhead) who gave me two boxes of truffles. My friends absolutely loved them!
Called to inquire about strawberries only to be sent to reach their voicemail. They are supposed to be open on Sundays at 12 but I had called at 12:40 assuming they were busy, I took a trip to the store and they were locked up with no signage stating why they were closed. Tried to call again an hour later and still no answer.I was in the neighborhood and checked to see if they were open again and there were two young girls sunbathing (?) outside. No wonder they didnt hear my second call! They made me so uncomfortable trying to get by their chairs, I know its hot outside but I didnt know the employee attire was swimsuits.
Phoned in a large order of chocolates to give as holiday gifts. Theobroma’s service was spot on and I felt comfortable despite the pandemic throughout the quick transaction. The gift packaging is perfect and the small assortment I bought for our own enjoyment was composed of the best chocolates we’ve ever had! Highly recommended! We can’t wait to hear the thanks we get from family across the country!
I went here for the first time today and was greeted by a very rude older woman. She was not wearing a name tag so I could not get her name. She acted like it was such a bother for her to help me. Any question I asked she answered with snippy, short responses. I wont be returning. I almost walked out and I definitely would have bought more if it werent for the terrible service.
The two stars are for the chocolate. The woman that helped us was quite rude. Like she was annoyed. Chocolate was great. But we wont be going back. No truffle is worth bad service.
I am highly disappointed with the service I received shortly after Christmas. While your products are amazing your staff needs some fine tuning as well as customer service training. My business spends many $1,000s of dollars at your store and this was the first time the service was way less than par. I needed 1 item as I wanted to buy 10 items and you had 9 on hand. The girl told me that there would be NO WAY I could get one more and would have to wait until Monday! This day was Saturday December 26th. I mean I guess I have to deal with that but the part that REALLY got me is that she was dressed in a bare midriff top and old gray sweat pants. I mean really, who goes to work dressed like that? I am disappointed at the service as well as the appearance of the employees.
Stopped in to try them out delicious red chili chocolate also got valentines chocolates but wish it was more flavor variety, got orange chocolate as well and that was divine ☆
My wife loves their truffles. I bought a box for our anniversary. The truffles were great per usual!
Wanted to get chocolate straweberries Saturday for Valentines Day. ( we are the saturday ) For the price I paid I was very disappointed. The strawberries them self were horrible. Not really ripe and I dont know how to explain it but the watery. May they had been in a really cold refrigerator for to many days.
I really liked this place. We were trying to support a local business instead of a big company. We went Friday and it was great! We tried various different items and liked them all! We especially loved the dark chocolate peanut butter cups. They are creamy and not bitter or overly sweet. We also loved the Cortez bar. It was knock your socks off good. So we went back yesterday. We bought more peanut butter cups as well as 2 boxed sets of Cortez bars and a few other things. Over a two day span we spent over $107 there. We tried the Cortez bars today. They are nothing like the smaller version we bought the day before. These are almost exclusively like chewy caramels. It’s a mouth full of sweet mush. The other bars were a thick layer of dark chocolate with crunchy bits with a very very thin layer of carmel then a pretty thick layer of creamy milk chocolate. I actually had to get a knife and cut out all the extra caramel because it was overwhelming. I called the store to just talk to someone about how disappointing that is because seriously that’s a lot of money to spend for candy that bad. It reminded me of Russell Stover. The lady who answered the phone was very rude. She responded by telling me there was nothing she could do and had a bad attitude I could call back on Tuesday to speak to the owner. I certainly will. Just wow.*Update*I called and spoke to the owner and he was a condescending jerk. I was very kind and respectful to him but he basically said my opinion doesn’t matter and I don’t know what I’m talking about. He said he didn’t want to offer me my money back just because I didn’t like something. I told him that wasn’t what I wanted I had originally called just to talk to someone about how disappointed we were but I’d called back today because the lady I originally spoke to was so rude. Well he is rude to. It was like trying to have an adult conversation with a pouting 6 year old. He talked over me and cut me off and implied I’m just too stupid to know good chocolate. The chocolate here really is exquisite but as another bad review said I don’t like giving my money to rude people.
First time there, went for a gift, very pricey, but some customers claim the candy is the best
Went to this chocolatier today wanting to buy some truffles. The woman employee was very rude and acted as if someone asking her about the different flavors of the truffles was an annoyance not a customer. . Needless to say, I refuse to give my money to rude people, so I walked out. I dont know how people that act like this stay in business. Go to Kakawa in Santa Fe ot Chocolate Cartel they both have great truffles and their customer service is excellent.
Drove 40 miles and spent a significant amount of money. Had pre-ordered. We felt very rushed by woman who assisted us. It was our first time in the store. I saw other reviews where they were offered a sample. We were never offered, rather encouraged to check out and leave. I was not impressed with customer service.
Excellent quality chocolate, helpfull staff.
Staff was attentive...chocolate appropriately priced for artisan chocolate
So many to pick from, but I think they maybe a little over price.
Theobroma is hands down the best chocolatier in Albuquerque. Their chocolate turtles are amazing. If you factor in reasonable prices and I think that they are the best chocolatier that I have ever had. The staff is always friendly and the store is always clean and organized.
I drove from Santa Fe to Xmas shop. Stopped in for stocking stuffers and left with $$$$ worth. The best chocolate ever. Dark truffles are the best. . Returned for Valentine’s Day candy. Now, approaching Easter and I need to stay home😷.withdrawal.........
Super affordable yummy chocolates! We got the chocolate covered raspberries, a chocolate covered strawberry, and a chocolate covered Oreo. All of that for less than $7. And theyre delicious. The milk chocolate is creamy, and the fruit tasted fresh and juicy. Loved it!
This is my favorite chocolate shop. The people are the best! Lots of cute gift things filled with chocolate besides all the terrific chocolate assortments. I love this shop!
The lady who took my order was very attentive and helpful. Had some of their chocolates as a Christmas gift once, and Im so glad I finally stumbled across their store. I could get in a lot of trouble here...the chocolates are that good! If youre a coffee lover, I highly recommend the chocolate covered espresso beans.
Got some dark chocolate for the long drive home. My only real complaint is that they dont have enough dark chocolate covered fruits. What I did order was very good, though.
They are the nicest people, and their chocolates are to die for.
I have never in my life had chocolate covered strawberries as perfect and soft as they have them at Theobrama. They actually wont even sell any if they arent up to their standards, unlike Godiva and Rocky Mountain, who dont care if they are perfect or not. This is by far the best in town!
Truly lives up to its name!Lovely family business-kind, helpful, and accommodating. Great gifts, including chocolate covered fruit- strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries. In closing: Salted. Caramels.
We moved to Pa. after Christmas and have been missing the fantastic chocolates. We have been patrons for many yrs. In the process of putting together our holidays shopping list. CANT WAIT...
Ive only had a few amazing pieces of chocolate from here and even though it is quite close, Im afraid to go there for fear I could never leave. Then they would be forced to call the police, I would be arrested and then have a permanent record......stay safe, do NOT go here! Their goods are absolutely addictive - so much so they may drive you mad with delight. Youve been warned
It was okay but not the best chocolate Ive had I found the texture tended to be over hard and did not melt-in-your-mouth but actually needed to be crunched. The flavors were also not as rich as expected
Best local chocolatier ;tasty variety of white, milk and darks chocolates, dipped strawberries, chili chocolates, ice cream...so much more. You just have to visit!
Worst customer service! When my wife and I walked into the store, (on Valentine’s Day) we were not acknowledged like the other customers. Instead the owner, Chuck ignored us and tried to help a different customer whom had come in after us. After a moment we were asked what we wanted with with a bothered tone of voice(like it was a bother to receive our order and $$)! Will not be returning to this place because of their classist and disrespectful attitudes and I recommend for same for everyone else!
The owner was so nice. The chocolate is delicious. Great local shop.
The only place, local or otherwise, that has dark chocolate mint truffles, which are a necessity for my aunts Christmas present. Thank you.
Do not ask for white chocolate, instead of a polite no, you will get schooled by the chocolatier since it is not technically a coco bean product(yes, I knew that). (I also saw no fudge, my focus( but they may have other fine products)).
Chuck makes some of the best chocolates on the planet!
Amazing chocolate, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Come here is always delicious and special and we highly recommend this chocolatier.
Good chocolate. Kinda pricey, but a fun treat
Very disappointed in my toffee purchase. Toffee not rich cream taste and almonds on outside seemed stale. No return visit for me
Friendly staff, great chocolate, this was our second time in and wont be our last. Tell all your friends about them.
This place have shaped chocolates I have never ever seen before and they are awesome. Their chocolates tastes really good.
They are very nice and have delicious chocolates!
Excellent service remarkable chocolate excellent prices if I want good chocolate Theres only one place to go! Theobroma!!!
We had a very bad experience. The customer service was terrible and they were beyond rude. Will not be returning.
Locally owned, EXCELLENT selection, and staff is phenomenal. You have to go at least once because I guarantee youll be back.
This is my go to place for the best chocolate in town.
