I went in today and the place was packed. As a stroke victim I get confused in high volume places. The owner spent a total of about 3 minutes with me and handed me six bucks. I realized about 10 minutes later that he had overlooked a valuable coin. Slow on everything I wasnt able to point out the coin. When I called to buy them back he said he had already sold my coins to some guy. Ive never even had my worst dr. appt so fast. Because I wasnt buying anything, I got the bums rush. Never again...

Brought in a bag full of miscellaneous old coins to potentially sell (even Mexican Pesos). Pete was great, ----so patient yet quick going through them all. Really easy transaction. Had read other reviews about the store and Petes professionalism. All the positive comments matched up with my experience. Would definitely recommend Pete and Albuquerque Coins!

I visited Albuquerque Coins to find a Christmas gift for my son. The owner, Peter, was really helpful and offered me several options that were within my price range. After the purchase transaction was complete I noticed some discoloration on my coin and he offered to switch it out with another one in the same price range. He was super friendly and very knowledgeable. For me, the peace of mind that came with shopping in person, and doing business with a trustworthy local resident, far outweighed taking my chances shopping online, not really knowing what I was going to get. Being in the gold and silver business sometimes exposes the owner to questionable sellers and merchandise. These situations require honest and ethical decisions. I have watched Peter do what is right for years and would trust him in transactions of any size.

I have visited a few times, and the first time I went in there I wasnt sure if it was me or the guy (owner) helping me but I felt he was very awkward and ended up just leaving... then I had spoken to a mentor of mine and said the owner is very unique and his personality and can come across as not so friendly. So second visit, went to sell some coins and this guy was very up front, provided me knowledge and was very fair... went in a third visit with a friend that was selling coins and the owner basically told my friend to go spend his coins. I laughed because If you dont know this guy you would think he is absolutely absurd but he is not, he is a busy individual who tells it like it is, no BS. I had to explain to my buddy like my mentor did with me... LOL JUST THE WAY THE OWNER TOLD MY BUDDY WAS ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS, because the whole time on the way to the coin store my buddy wouldnt shut up on how much he knew about coins and how he wouldnt take anything less... (very quite trip back home)Nevertheless, I will continue to do business with this shop as they are honest and knowledgeable and will not blow smoke up your you know what.Awesome place!! P.S., dont forget what I said, this guy knows his business and if he comes across as not customer friendly, dont be surprised... crack a joke with him and see how quick he is to come back with one at you... he really is friendly!! trust me!!

Ive been buying from Peter for years and have always found him to be honest and professional and his prices are excellent. Ive bought from other places in other cities that dont have half the business sense that Peter does. One warning; dont go in with junk cause he will definitely call you out!

I have been shopping at Albuquerque Coins since the early 1990s. It is a great place to shop whether you are just starting out with a few dollars all the way up to some impressive selections on the higher end. I highly recommend this shop. Peter is an awesome person and knowledgeable and is friendly even to difficult customers I think that many others would toss out of the store. I think the few negative reviews are just people who dont like to hear the word no or Ill pass. Fair warning, it CAN get busy sometimes, so be patient!

Review is long past due. I was in there in 2012-2013 when silver was selling between $25-$42 I believe. It was a good three or four months for silver in the market. Owner bought at market and I could not have been happier. Went to several other locations and was low balled really badly. Have recommended to friends ever since.

It seems like there are more seller recommendations, than buyers, so I wanted to share my experience looking as one who bought;)I was able to stop in to look for the prooflike morgans I mentioned in the question section, and ended up staying around for at least an hour and choosing a couple of raw coins for my US 7070 type set. Being in a coin store is already dangerous, but buying coins that are out of ones wheelhouse is usually a losing proposition.Knowing this full well, I got a very nice 1838 capped bust quarter and an 1875-S seated 20 cent piece with its unique reverse.When I got home I was hugely relieved to find that Peter, in addition to being an extremely busy and patient dude, is extremely fair in his pricing! Not only that, I got to look through a selection of really beautiful graded coins, most that I couldnt afford, including some nifty errors and classic rare coins such as a few graded 1916 D Mercs and at least one 1909 S VDB Lincoln, a couple of coins I hadnt seen in person. I can see making a monthly trip down, for sure. And I also see why Im lucky I dont live nearby. Goodbye pocketbook;)

Rip off. Took a Morgan silver dollar in and received only spot. It was an 1884-O and worth at least a little more than spot silver price. Will take coins elsewhere in the future. Takes advantage of people. :(
