I highly recommend Island Import Garage. My car broke down coming into Anacortes for a week long trip. Despite a full schedule they fit me in and Maggie recommended some good places to take my 7 year old. We were able to have a good camping trip and Harold and his crew had the car running by the time we were scheduled to leave and for a very reasonable price! I brought in an older vehicle. Was told in a less than professional way that it is morally reprehensible to drive a vehicle with such an oil leak. The owner himself compared my vehicle to the Exxon Valdez in quite a snide manner. When asked about the other known issues that I brought the vehicle in for it was abundantly clear that they had no interest in working on my vehicle. And after being quoted ridiculously high price for a complete overhaul and a higher than necessary price just to get the vehicle road worthy again I decided to take my business elsewhere. This is where the real customer service kicked in. Frustrated at this point we returned to claim our vehicle, and was told that the paperwork had not been drawn up yet and that we couldnt take our vehicle back. When asked how long it would take to draw up the paperwork to make a payment and get our keys back we were instructed totake a drive around the block. After some exciting back and forth over the phone and in person we were ultimately told to f*** off by the office manager. Who then vebally harassed a random bystander walking by. 10 minutes later we received notification that the paperwork was ready and that we could come pick up our vehicle. Highly entitled atmosphere.

Took my BMW i3 to Island Garage for some basic computer maintenance & oil change. Even though the car is electric it’s got an extender gas engine and needs to have an oil change every once in a while. They completed all the maintenance, reset the computer system and cleaned the car out completely. The communication and experience was excellent. I would definitely consider taking other imports there first rather than dealer.

Not a really good experience. I brought my car in to have a sheared off Bolt replaced and they refused to help me because my car was modified. I think they should have been upfront with me and told me that they dont work on modified cars at all. That would have saved me a lot of time and hassle with the whole experience.

Was told my transmission needed rebuilding to the tune of 6,000.00. Took my car to a different mechanic who said the only thing wrong was the car was 3 quarts low in transmission fluid!! And now it’s running great b

I have to say a big thank you to the mechanic for answering all my questions and reassuring me that my car was in good hands. I drive an 1986 VW GOLF GTI so finding someone who is trustworthy and knows older Volkswagens can be hard. Island Import def. knows what hes doing and i suggest anyone bringing their vehicle there to have work. He has done work for my oil leak issue and also my breaks .will be going back in the future for work.

Excellent mechanic, super conscious and very reasonable for work performed. Not the lowest initial quote, but the least expensive true repair in the long run. Want it done right? This is the place!
