I brought my Volvo in for regular service and oil change to Lower Merion Tire & Service. I used to go to my local Volvo dealer for service but after years of getting ripped off and forced into unnecessary repairs, I decided to go elsewhere and Im extremely happy I found Lower Merion Tire & Service. This place can be summed up in 3 words: Affordable, Honest, Quick. Hal and his team were able to get me in for an appointment right away. The drop -off was super easy and convenient. Within a few hours, the work was done and I could come get my car. I was very nervous to see the bill but to my surprise, the cost was a very reasonable affordable. No unnecessary or costly repairs - they fixed what they had to and nothing more. It was such a nice and refreshing experience to get my car serviced and not feel like Im being taken advantage. Our family will bring all our cars here for regular service and maintenance in the future.

Great experience with LMT&S. Hal is great - a nice guy and a straight shooter. Will fit you in on short notice, tell you exactly what you need and what you dont, and the crew does high quality work at very reasonable rates. Brought in my daughters 08 Infiniti for some exhaust leaks and a few other items, and LMT&S made expert repairs to the existing exhaust for a fraction of what the dealer would have charged for new components, refreshed a couple of suspension items and spotted a bubble in a tire, and now the car is back to running well again. Will definitely be coming back!

I have used their services many times. Went to a place near my home to get my car inspected and found that I need back brakes and rotors. They could not do the service I needed done and you know I was not going to the car dealership. I have a 2015 Volvo so I went back to them to fix it. Going to cost me $500, but you know it would be a hell of a lot more at the dealership. Their service has been top notch for my husband and I. Everything is told upfront and I am completely satisfied with their work. I have been coming to them for years. Some things you have to go to the dealership and some things no way.

The people were friendly and the initial evaluation was quick. I was told we would need over $1,600 worth of work, and was given the explanation that there were clunking and jarring issues when turning and stopping, things weve never experienced when driving this car. Im an engineer and my husband designs engines and has raced cars in the past, so we do have *somewhat* of an understanding how these car things work.None of this made sense to me, and because I was not fully trusting the evaluation they were giving me, I asked for an itemized list of what was included in the $1,600 quote. The only thing I was able to get was the estimated cost for a pair of tires, which was far more expensive for a lower quality tire than what I knew tires for this car cost. I had a cars suspension (low rider) changed back to normal. They did a great job in one day and explained fully what was needed what each piece replaced, explained the why what how and inspected for 2300.Very happy.

I highly recommend this place! On short notice, they were able to diagnose and repair several major problems with our Volvo. They are honest and straightforward, and they do excellent work. They are even open on Saturdays! They have free WiFi, and you can walk to nearby businesses for food. These guys do it right!

Update May 2019:Just had them do PA state inspection one year after they helped with my suspension project, and the car passed with flying colors. Hal remembered the project, and we had a good time catching up.Original review May 2018:They helped me out on very short notice with an unusual request: I was installing new springs myself, and I could not get the sway bar end links off.Even though they were busy, Steve, the owner, told me to come right in, and Hal even let me go watch.It was a harder job than they expected, but they had me in and out as fast as they could for a fair price, and I was able to continue my project.After lowering it, we discovered we really needed adjustable camber arms in the rear. I ordered them, and they installed them because it was not a job I could do.This was doing business with members of the community who offered assistance when it was needed most.Thanks, guys!!

First time going, had a brake issue. They looked at it for free, recommended I go to dealer as it might be covered under warranty and were friendly and polite. Love these guys. Will go there again.

Inquired about mounting and balancing a set of winter tires that I had already purchased online. Quote was about 40 bucks a tire, Wilkie Lexus did it for 22 bucks a tire. Shop around for tire mounting and balancing. I can not speak to their quality of work just the pricing above the Lexus dealership seemed odd. Also Mavis Tire only wanted 59 to mount and balance all four but could not do it until the following day so I went with Wilkie.

Woke up with a flat tire, that was luckily a slow leak I could fill up and drive to United. They were fast, up front and even synced up my tire sensors the dealership missed when I got new tires less than a year ago. They patched it and didnt add on any surprises and were good people. Oh and it wasnt expensive, in my opinion.

Place is really great. I called them last minute on a Saturday to do an inspection of a used car I was considering. They saved me from a potential mistake. They were quick and ultra courteous. Cant recommend more highly

I recently moved to PA and brought my car here for an inspection based on the high rating. Unfortunately, the service here turned out to be just short of extortion. The techs insisted that my car needed over $1500 of maintenance to pass the inspection, which was a surprise to me given the recent work done at my regular dealer. Being skeptical of their diagnosis I brought it to a dealer and none of what these techs insisted on was actually needed. Further, the cars expansion tank had a crack that the techs didnt notice, presumably because they were too busy dreaming up fake ailments. All in all, taking the car to a dealer saved me over $1300 versus listening to these crooks.

Never coming to this place again. Staff is unprofessional and rude. Used to bring my car here for years to have it worked on. Recently had a bad experience with them in which they wasted my time and were EXTREMELY rude when they they couldnt figure out how to install a basic steering wheel. The guy working Hal was being a unprofessional and literally kicked me out of the establishment telling me to go to Firestone instead. Really? Thats how you treat your customers who have literally spent thousands of dollars at your business? Yeah safe to say Ill be taking my business elsewhere.

Great prices on tires, great community service with the customers

TLDR: Theyll overcharge you, sneak charges, give you things you dont need, and argue with you about it. Get ready to get uncomfortable fighting.A few years ago my Mom brought her car -- a Jeep -- in for some new tires. Shes not the most consumer savvy individual. I went with ehr to pick-up the car. It needed a new tire, but they replaced all four. They did so with top of the line tires and, still, they were over-priced. I examined the receipt and saw that they charged her for the additional, unannounced service of washing her car -- a simple drive-thru carwash was $40.A regional rep form United Tire was there that day. With the bill in hand, I asked the local salesman (yes, salesman) to call three other United Tires at random to get the price -- on speakerphone.This dance continued for about half an hour. In all, my Moms credit card was refunded about $350 on around $900.But, hey, great tires!
