Brought my Daughter here for her first Range experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The showroom is big roomy and clean with a lot of displays. We paid our range fee, and we went into the range the were not crowded so we had some room. They have 10 lanes and we spent a good hour there. When we were leaving we did look at some of the guns on display for sale. Prices seemed a little on the high side. But we had fun and will come back for sure!

I stopped shopping here after experiencing what others have posted…..”horrible attitude by employees”.One example……I asked the employee what kind of Marlin Model 60’s they had available. Without bothering to look….he said “none”. Yet behind the employee and within arms reach there was a stainless steel model 60. After I pointed it out….he looked for a second and said…”yea, that one”. He didn’t even ask if I wanted to see it.Well, I tried again to see if they have changed…….looks like they have. Young lady was able to answer all the questions I had and I made a purchase once again at this store.Oh….the prices have finally improved as well.

Really enjoyed my time and experience here. I bought my first firearm here, and the staff was super duper friendly and helpful. Willing to answer questions and just generally nice to work with. Prices are about on par with everywhere else you can buy a firearm, same with ammo. No complaints on the range either, very simple and nothing very fancy or extravagant, but gets the job done and works well and I enjoyed shooting there. Its nice to support a smaller, family owned business, and it definitely has that vibe to it which I love. Will definitely be purchasing more firearms from, and frequenting the range here.

Definitely will never give this place anymore of my time and thank god I did not give them any of my money. Called to find out if there was any ammunition available, I was told yes. Got there in 15 minutes and the older lady was extremely rude and not interested in helping me. She dedicated to assist another man whom had just walked out of the range area while I had been standing there for 20 minutes. She showed him a shot gun. Then she decides to yell down the counter to me what do you need, I tell her and then she says, we’re all sold out I tried to explain that I just called and got confirmation that you did. Of course she gets louder. I promise these types of businesses don’t need to be in business. I’ll take my money elsewhere where it will be more appreciated and I’m given more respect. Definitely did not deserve the 1 star!!!

I see many negative reviews here. Im surprised, since my experience was good. The employee assisting me was helpful, pleasant, and knowledgeable. I wasnt planning the buy anything. However, they actually had a nice selection despite the shortages. They will sell you their ammo without using the range. I ended up buying a Glock 19. Update: it seems some of the staff are on different pages and live up to the poor Google review ratings. I left out the negatives because the girl helping me was so nice. Heres the other side of the coin: I paid $60 more at JR than I would have at Law Weapons and Supply for my Glock. They have better prices. Anyways.. I go to try it at their range the day after leaving them a great review with five stars and had problems with the clip dropping our targets. Some kid that works there comes out and says what did you guys do? I guess thats what happens when you shoot the metal. Our target had tight clusters and we were nowhere near the clip.

Overpriced, and this shop seems to lean towards older guns, I do not want to say vintage because I do not know much about them to speak accurately. A better shop just a mile or two down the street is Shoot Point Blank, they have a bigger selection of firearms, a much nicer facility and range. Instead of having 2 or 3 people maximum at JR shooting they usually have at least 5 or 6 people working. You will always be helped very quickly.

This is a good example of gun stores that give gun stores a bad name. Prices are inflated as compared to other area stores. I watched a salesman try and talk a new gun owner into a used gun that was priced well above a reasonable retail price. The customer didn’t know any better and I saw the stores true colors. Previously I asked the owner about getting a particular item that he didn’t have in stock. He was perusing some sort of publication on the counter and didn’t even have the courtesy to look up from what he was doing before he dismissed me.If you are a new gun owner, they will see you coming a mile away. If you are experienced, you will recognize the problems with the culture of the store when you walk in. The tone is set from management and the owner. Unfortunately, his bedside manner has been poor since his shop first opened in Chicago Avenue.

J.R. Shooting Sports failed to inform my friend that his gun (a 9mm Walther pistol) was not available for pickup ON the day they said it would be because of IL state backups, despite them knowing the day-of. A simple phone call stating this before the scheduled outing was underway (at beginning of their business hours or earliest known hour) would have sufficed, but they failed in this simple measure. This has resulted in the loss of business from my friend and I.Simply put: every encounter Ive had with them has been lackluster, if not dismal, and the above incident was one annoyance too many.Shop for your firearms elsewhere.

After waiting for about an hour (which is normal for the weekend) my wife and I were charged 20$ per person for only an hour then when you put up your target the head of the target is approx an inch from the plastic holder, if you shoot it on accident (which is very easy to do if your just learning or even a marksman) you have to pay 7$ for it. The firing range is also nice as they allow shotguns which is uncommon at a lot of firing ranges in Naperville and Aurora area and their prices on rentals are good Incase you don’t have your own firearm. If you go I definitely recommend you speak to McKenzie because she is super helpful and cares for the customer she will go beyond her job role to make sure the customer is happy and comfortable and explains everything very well i have been looking into buying a shotgun and she has taken a lot of time to do research and explain different shotguns for me and see what I would like within my price range. The first time I went to the range the staff was somewhat rude and not especially welcoming. However, after consistently going to the range a couple time a month the staff really warmed up and even asked me how I was shooting, made some jokes and left me with a smile. The prices are about average, maybe 5% more expensive on certain items. However, I know they are willing to negoiate on some some guns. At other ranges I cant see anything the people next to me are doing and thats kinda scary. They also have a wide variety of guns. Yes, they are overpriced compared to buying online, but so is every other gun store Ive ever been to. He took advantage of the situation that me and my wife were there trying to have fun. this a$$ hole told me to just insert my card without even telling me total or even ask how I was paying. Review №100

Im surprised to see any of these bad reviews. Ive been in the shop 10-15 times over the years and Ive never had a bad experience. The longest Ive waited for the range was 30 minutes, I bought a px4 at a fair price, and the staff is very helpful even if your a newbie about guns with a dumb question.I had one less then 5 star experience with a sales guy one time.... I asked about keeping less then lethal ammo for the first two rounds in two different home defense guns. He had a very strong opinion against that idea. Id still give that visit a 4.5, everyones entitled to their own opinion. They did loose a sale that day for sure, he didnt even give me the option to order the ammo I wanted to buy. It wasnt a problem though, mega sports had it in stock the following weekend.
