I was completely floored by the top-shelf quality of every single loose leaf tea I purchased here. I have never had such flavorful and strong Earl Grey before. Did I mention it’s also incredibly affordable ???The Silver Needle tea is so high quality you can still feel the fuzz on the tea leaves. Absolutely incredible.+1 extra star for the incredibly nice staff. 6/5 stars.
Nice & quaint little shop that has a lot to offer. Went in to buy some coffee to send as TY gifts. I had not been there before, so was pleasantly surprised to walk in and see the coffee counter to purchase a drink!! Hope to return & be able to enjoy some time sitting in the outside patio area. TY!
Visited from Chicago and this was the best coffee shop we stopped in to in Austin. Their espresso and mocha frappes had so much flavor and strength we came back a 2nd time before heading home! Also took home some fresh beans and made a cup of french pressed coffee and wow, it was a good brew. Will definitely stop by again when in town, everyone was super nice as well.
I kinda stumbled into this place when leaving Austin today and was blown away by their selection of equipment and variety of coffee beans and products. And it smelled divine! Meg was amazing. I asked for advice as to what to order for a drink. She was kind enough to answer any questions I had too! Meg put me on the spiced brown sugar cold brew with oat milk and my gosh! So good! I will be back for more!
Came in to find some items for a tea gift basket, and the girls at the counter were so helpful and patient.
This coffee shop is truely amazing in every way. Not only do they serve the most amazing coffee in town, they take extreme measures to promote sustainability and eco friendly products. They alao support the local community in every way possible. Customer service is amazing as well. Please ditch Starbucks and shop here
Love the espresso! Fun unique Austin experience. The only thing is I arrived before 8am, the walkway gate was locked still but I saw some guys walk through the driveway. A first time girl in an unfamiliar neighborhood, I was a little scared to approach what looks like a warehouse. I followed through the driveway entrance and the barista guy was getting ready for his morning and so kindly helped me choose my morning brew. The atmosphere is out of the ordinary, walls and shelves lined with espresso machines and coffees from around the world. And they don’t charge an arm and a leg for a cup either 😋
Thier espresso and mocha frapped has so much flavor
Amazing coffee, service and even repairs! Top notch organic, fair trade, select beans and helpful friendly staff
Wide selection of fine coffee beans, in-store coffee bar, and coffee brewing suppliesfriendly and knowledgeable staff and an unpretentious atmosphere
This was my fourth trip to Texas Coffee Traders October and every time I make sure and go to Goose feathers. Stayed for three days this holiday weekend and ate breakfast here three times. Croissants are amazing, along with the grits, bread pudding and a new addition the JP Deluxe. Both my boyfriend and daughters boyfriend enjoyed this highly recommended breakfast. The staff is out of this world, friendly and makes you feel so welcome. Beth, the owner does an amazing job keeping everything moving along like a well oiled machine. The manager, John is outgoing and always takes a minute out of the hustle and bustle to chat and make you feel at home. I’ll be back to Savannah soon and most definitely to Goose feathers!
I have nothing but positive things to say about this company. Jen my sales rep bends over backwards for me. She is full of information, is prompt in responding to my questions and helps me pick out coffees that I need paired w customers specific tastes. She is truly amazing, and while I love working with TCT she is a big part of bringing us back. Thank you for great products and great staff.
Great coffee place and roastery. People who work there are really friendly, one took time to explain the coffees, show me the tester area, and then discuss a few options that would work well with V60s. Said tours were available if booked or if I came in at a less busy time. They made a great Flat White and I bought really tasty coffee.
RC and his team are amazing kind, helpful and friendly folks, I am from San Antonio and had a espresso in need of service. They were very informational on what was going on with my machine and to get it working again. I want to thank RC for your kindness and service! Great experience and great people you have on your team! I will definitely stop by again when we are in the Austin area for their delicious coffee as well!
OMG I love this place. We wanted to drink coffee and saw good review about this place. Am so greatfull that we decided this place. The staff Soo friendly and so knowledgeable. They helped us with coffee tasting from the tasting station and also explained the difference . They let us also bring in our presective of the coffee we tasted. We also got a hot coffee, a cold brew and a packet of their freshly ground coffee(Dark ). The cost was Soo reasonable .Must visit.
Love the price of freshly roasted beans and the quality is outstanding. The staff Ive interacted with knew off the top of their head which dark roast they had and how fresh they were (2 vs 4 days for example). I got the 4 day old roast as I was going to use right away for my espresso and 2 day was going to be too fresh. Glad I found out about this place
Worth a site visit for a cup of coffee or a couple of pounds of beans.
OMG. The coffee is only second to the employees. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. The coffee is worth my hour round trip drive. Could get it delivered but its too much fun to drop by. Thanks Texas coffee traders!
This place is great!people and prices
Always friendly, great products and good prices. Nice outdoor area for seating. Highly recommend a visit!
Super friendly and helpful staff members. Great and cheap coffee. Stop buying over-priced hipster beans. Get great beans for a great price here.
Love the lemonades and hot cocoa! Great staff, and amazing products.
My second time in Austin and I wanted to find a coffee shop near where I was staying. This place didnt disappoint! The staff is incredible! So helpful and SO nice. They gave me reccomendations and they encourage sampling which is awesome :) I got their raspberry lemonade and their blackberry white mocha and both are sooo delicious! Will definitely be a must visit for me every time I come down now!
Friendly and efficient. Good coffee. Reasonable prices for local coffee. Great team. My go to.
Went in today with a problem from a product I had received through their location. Spoke with the manager, (wish I had his name), but without question, he took care of resolving the issue! A true “Customer Focused” way of doing business. Well done.. and thank you ever so sincerely for your help. I’d also like to note that the problem I had with the product in question was no let the fault of theirs. But they stepped up and replaced the part I needed!! I appreciate that level of customer service. I live in Dallas but will order all my future tea’s through their location. I support local, I support small business, I support “Made in the USA!” And I appreciate hard working entrepreneurs! New lifetime customer!! Good job guys!!
Their whole bean Lone Star blend and flavored whole bean coffees are delicious -- what a way to start the day! Fast home shipping and great beans!
Great place to enjoy!
Their COVID-19 setup is very good. Order from a window, mandatory masks, all very low risk. Still got the best coffee in town and really knowledgeable baristas. Everything from single-origin espresso shots for coffee snobs, to sugary mocha shakes and mixed drinks. Plus a huge tea menu. Pastries from Upper Crust and a few tables in the shade. Plus dog treats. Love this place.
Delicious coffee, went back twice after trying out a few more spots in the area. The shakerato was great, also had the cortado and macchiato. Surprisingly wide tea selection if youre not in the mood for coffee. If you prefer very acidic coffee, then this may not be your favorite place.
Best coffee in town, made however you want. French pressed? Done. Texas pecan pour over iced? You got it. Hell, they even have a library of coffee that you can just pick up off the shelf and have them make a cup for you. Thats insane! Oh... dont forget to get a pound to take home before you leave.
Fast food service, very prompt & the food is very tasty! Can be a challenge getting in during peak hours, but the counter always seems to have space.
Very interesting coffee experience, but different from a typical third wave coffee shop/roaster in East Austin. What you will find here are exceptionally friendly people who will discuss coffee with you along with a variety of commercial coffee roasts. Located in a warehouse, they give you the opportunity to sample different coffee and offer a lot of brewing equipment. What you won’t find is indoor space to work or high quality espresso roasts, but they do have ample outdoor patio space.
TCT is an awesome local coffee roaster. I have been a customer for over 20 years. My favorites are the Ethiopian Sidamo, and the Honduran.
The staff was phenomenal and friendly. The service was quick and the coffee was the best I’ve ever had. There was also a great selection of self serve coffee to try coffee from all over the world. The staff went out of their way to give us a taste tour of the various coffees they offered.
Local and organic, super cool place and great coffee! I should also mention the great people inside. You should stop by for a good fresh brewed single origin coffees and fresh brewed tea.
Incredible coffee, better staff. My wife and I live a few blocks away and visit at least once a week to replenish our coffee supply and get a couple coffees. They have a small tasting area so you can sample the brew before you buy. They also have a wall of their roasted beans which all smell heavenly. Hands down best coffee in all of Austin for WAY cheaper than those hipster places all over. These folks rock.
Update: I love Texas Coffee Traders even more. I always place my orders for pick up and love to get 1/4 lbs to try new coffees. I temporarily moved out of Austin and their online portal is great and easy to order from, but doesnt offer smaller weights than 1 lb. I was able to place my order over the phone with the request for 1/4 lb coffee beans and get it delivered. Im very with happy with how accommodating they are.Previous: I love this place. The smell alone is worth a trip. They can make you fresh coffee drinks, you can buy coffee supplies and coffee in bulk here. You can do whole bean or they can grind it for you.The people working here are all amazing as well. The parking lot is small and it can be hard to find parking if its full. They also have a stand at the SFC farmers market at burger stadium and you can make a special order so they have it there for you BUT the stand only takes cash.My favorite beans are Krakatoa and the Decaf Wind River.
I love the coffee. Super friendly staff and a laid back atmosphere
Best coffee in town. Always friendly and helpful.
I have never been so excited to go to a coffee shop. From the second we walked in, the staff was welcoming and wanted to know what we were looking for. In 5 minutes, they taught me more about making and tasting coffee than I ever knew. Its not just a place to get some coffee, its a whole experience. My souvenir mug is now my favorite coffee cup! Highly recommend a visit.
This place is great! We buy our coffee here for our Bakery at The Sherwood Forest Faire, also I buy it for my coffee at home. The know their business and are always ready to talk about coffee and get you exactly what you need for your business or for home brewing. You can also buy cups of coffee and sample coffee brewed in different ways.
Visited for the first time today. Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There are plenty of samples of coffee and tasting is highly encouraged. We even sampled their homemade ice cream which was amazing. I absolutely recommend this place. I will for definitely be returning.
Fabulous local coffee shop, with daily brews from around the world! Very friendly place with fresh brews, fresh grinds, a large assortment of beans and teas, and everything you need for brewing. They have a daily sampler selection of at least four brews representing each coffee region on the globe that you can sample. The coffee is only $2! This is a must see stop in Austin!
I love this place! great coffee, great pastries, great environment, awesome people. I just think they should change the whole star thing because it would be better if after 10 cups of coffee you can at least get a free one instead of a percentage off of one people are dedicated and always spending money here that I think we deserve the one cup for free thats just mine and a bunch of my friends who go here opinion . U guys should definitely think about it. One cup after 10 cups a bunch of pastries really wouldnt kill ya .
Awesome hidden gem on the east side! They have a ton of coffee making supplies and bulk coffee at reasonable prices. Great spot for any holiday shopping or for any cofffee enthusiast. They also have self-serve and a regular cafe! There is inside and outdoor seating for you to enjoy your coffee if you want to hangout for awhile!
Would have rated more stars if more stars were available. Evan gave a nice thorough walk-through of the shop, explaining the layout and order of the huge variety of coffees offered, also pointed out the samples they rotate through weekly. They also a nice variety of teas. Evan was a pleasure to work with. I left with a pound of great coffee, and some tea for my wife....will need to frequent more often. Great service and variety of products!
Great vibe and personality! When visiting they time to explain the many many coffees. I bought some Timor coffee which is fantastic. Need Togo back for more. Love this place,
Excellent customer service! My friend asked the barista (a very tall guy) about the difference between a French press and an Aeropress, and he went through the whole process for us, showed us how to use it, and was clearly very passionate. It was also pretty cool to visit a place that did so much of the preparation on-site.
I recommend this place to anyone whos really into coffee. They love to talk coffee. You can smell and sample dozens of freshly roasted varieties of coffee. I like a good classic roast so my fave, right now, is the Peru Medium roast.
If you want the freshest and best flavored coffee you can buy then come here! It will make you love coffee even more
Bring a reusable cup!! You’ll get 50 cents off, and they only have single-use stuff otherwise.Great coffee and a great shaded outdoor area to kick back in.
Super cool local business. Friendly people, fantastic selection of coffee beans to bring home (my go to spot for perfect little gifts for coffee drinkers), as well as a store with all the accessories you could want. They’ll make you a good cup of coffee while you’re there too’
Really great customer service! Theyre coffee is delicious and they have lots of other coffee related stuff there. Recently, I called and the staff put together a little thank you gift bag for me, which was great considering the difficulties of putting something together while things are closed. It looked great and I really appreciated their help!
Was very impressed by the friendly and knowledgable staff. Great coffee, cool atmosphere. Even showed me around the roaster a bit. I definitely decided to buy more based on my experience. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!
What an awesome coffee shop! Staff are very knowledgeable on coffee and very helpful and personable. They have an app to record your purchase so we dont have to carry a paper card anymore. Its a bit far from our house but we go there for our coffee fix at least once every 2 weeks! Highly recommended!!
Texas Coffee Traders is the best o the best. Their coffee is delicious and their espresso is divine. All the staff are awesome and know a lot about coffee and about how the drink gets from bean to cup. This is a great spot.
Excellent variety and service! The staff made an excellent recommendation (Timor variety) based on the qualities I was looking for in a coffee. The store is in a seedy-looking part of town, but dont let it deter you from going. Im from Canada and will definitely be ordering more through the mail if Im not in Austin to pick some up.
Wonderful hidden gem of a coffee shop tucked away on 4th in an unassuming building. Shaded patio is dog friendly (theyre not allowed inside) and they have fans. They usually have 3 - 4 coffees brewed from different regions daily. One of the coffees is brewed 3 different ways so you can taste the difference in flavors/styles of brewing (drip, coffee sock, French press, etc.) Great neighborhood spot and destination walk for coffee!
This is a great hidden gem in Austin. No frills serious coffee shop. The staff is super knowledgeable about coffee and always willing to help. If you are interested in learning about coffee, stepping up your home brewing, or just want a good cup, this is your place. No wifi, limited seating, closes at 3 but all worth it if you enjoy quality coffee.
Love the service and the freshness of their beans! Cant beat it if you want to make your own espressos or cappuccinos. They will also grind the beans for you (to freeze for freshness) if you dont have a grinder
Super kind people and such an array of coffees and teas. Got to try a bunch of coffees before purchasing. Ill definitely be coming back.
FANTASTIC local coffee roaster that services local restaurants but is also available to the public. They have bulk coffee and tea and an espresso bar with limited but tasty eats. They have an app-based loyalty program. There is a small outside seating area but its pretty utilitarian. They also repair espresso machines.
This is the best place Ive ever been to buy coffee. When I walked in, someone immediately offered me samples and gave me an informative tour of the shop, complete with recommendations based on my input. They have a great variety if beans for sale from South American to African to Indonesian, and have a house band that comes from a farm run by the shop owner. They also have flavored coffee and top shelf limited beans available. Prices range from about $13-20/lb. They also stock whatever you need to get started making great coffee like French presses, scales, pour over drip systems, etc.Outstanding staff, great variety & reasonable prices
Every time we go to see RC and his crew, its a great experience. Employees are all very friendly, excited to be at work, super knowledgeable about all the great selections of coffee and tea they have. RC is doing everything right. Stop in and become educated on the finer points of coffee. Puts other places, especially the chains, to shame
This is by far my favorite place to get coffee. If you have any questions about roasting methods, brewing methods, flavor profiles, (anything coffee related) they are sure to have the answers. Now that I live out of state I make it a point to stop by whenever Im in the area.
I love coffee, and this place showed me a whole new world. I didnt know how good coffee could be before coming here. Excellent service and excellent coffee. Its not the cute coffee house where you can browse the internet or read a book, but they do have a small area outdoors to sit and enjoy your coffee. Ask about their coffee 101 class.
A true Austin Treasure. Customer service is awesome, coffee is delicious, and the staff is encyclopedic yet approachable and friendly. I now consider it part of my Austin civic duty to ensure that Texas Coffee Traders is existent for future generations of Austinites and visitors. Did I mention that the coffee is delicious?
They are great at what they do. Very friendly
Just came here for the first time today, not expecting much, and I was a bit blown away. They have tons of coffee variety and quality, but it wasnt just that!First off, the staff is super helpful AND knowledgeable AND patient. They arent aggressively trying to sell anything, they are just super into their craft and love sharing their knowledge.Secondly, they have a great selection, not just of coffee beans, but also of equipment. Everything from french press to aeropress to espresso makers.Third, they have free tasting samples for hot coffee, cold brew coffee, tea, and lemonade. The nicest thing about this is that they have different brew styles of the same bean, so you can really compare and see the difference. Finally, they have an awesome outdoor chill area and coffee shop with chairs and tables! This was great since today happened to be a beautiful day. Dog-friendly too!
Great place to get freshly roasted coffee. I always stop in when Im in town and get some to take back with me. Staff are always friendly and willing to answer any questions.
Overwhelming in a good way. They have a lot of choices and unique choices in coffee. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful they make the shopping experience very easy once you tell them what youre looking for.
We love this place. We found them while bike riding in downtown Austin several years ago. The friendly service, awesome coffee and teas, and amazing selection are the reason we have them ship to us for our B&B in Dahlonega, GA. So many of our guests have asked for their info and have also become customers of Texas Coffee Traders too! We even purchased a refurbished 1950-1960s store model coffee grinder from them to use to grind our beans. They ship expediently but if you are in Austin area and want to visit, make sure you do!!!
