I found it to be very similar blend of Sprouts and Trader Joes. It has a sense haute gourmand cult feeling to it. It may be a bit expensive on the side but it has good choices of gluten free products and vegan products as well.

Great local grocery store with a big focus on organic and vegan options. All the staff are so nice and always have some co-op deals for you to save some $$. Also great sandwiches at the deli, must try!!

Wheatsville is my go-to place for beer, coffee, tea, kombucha, fresh fruit and veggies, bread, stuff like that.Not a crazy overwhelming selection, especially lacking in the coffee beans variety, but everything is high quality, easy to find, and reasonably priced.Their kombucha selection is actually quite good, they even have hard kombucha.

I love this store. All the employees are always so nice, and helpful. I especially love the deli/bakery area. My girl Vera makes some DANK sandwiches. 100% get a sandwich.

Wheatsville is a working model if how a community oriented grocery store should run. It funnels money into the nonprifits of the community, provides affordable meals on Thursdays. Gives back to its members, and does not penalize those who cannot ir will not join. Its sandwich shop is terrific. It has the best variety of natural and organic meats in town. It consistently maintains pandemic health standards. I have been a member for years now, and I continue due to thank Wheatsville for being a heart of Austin!

Had to take some stars away. Sorry Wheatsville but these items have been broken for at least a year now. As an owner its a little embarrassing and a little worrisome that things like broken doors and cupboards dont bother you. Maybe its the hippie mentality or maybe its all the cash theyve been pumping into the north store for the remodel (which is beautiful) but this store deserves more respect than you give it. Show the south location some love and maybe youll get your stars back. On a more positive note they do lots of good in the community and they support local which is what keeps me shopping here.

You can either grab it from the refrigerated section, the hot bar or in sandwhich form.I warn you though, its addictive. Wheatsville also makes a fantastic donut and their $5 dinner specials on Thursdays (for carnivores and vegetarians) are a steal!

As a native Austinite who used to shop at the original Guadalupe Street location of wheatsville, I must say that I am rather disappointed in the lukewarm offerings of the south location. I havent shopped here at all during 20HS, but even with the pandemic supply chain limitations, the selection available is very limited compared to the original location. Unfortunately the same is true for another great south location of a Central austin higher end heal health food store, Central market.

Love this grocery store, its just a big enough to have everything we need and small enough not to overwhelm. Theyre prepared foods are really delicious as well.

Be sure to go on Thursday for their weekly $5 dinner. My family has been members of the Wheatsville Food Co-op for over 10 years now. They carry the local farmers market meats and cheeses, have a full selection of quality produce, and their prepared foods are delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the whole store is well organized and clean. Its the best place to shop for groceries in South Austin.

Everything is so clean and organized! The 9-10 am hour is the best as very few people are there.

I never thought Id have a favorite grocery store but I honestly love this place. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Their bulk section is great; the apple cider vinegar cashews and the fig bars are BOMB. Their bulk herb/spice section is amazing too. They do a $5 dinner every Thursday with vegan and non-vegan options, everytime Ive gone the meals were delicious. They donate to charities and give you the option to round up your change at checkout for said charities. The deli makes AMAZING food as does their sushi chef. I cant rave about Wheatsville enough, its definitely what I miss most about living in Austin.

Really appreciate their support for their members and the locall community that depends on them. High marks for vegan food options. Their online ordering just does not work well. at least 50% of the time I have tried it it fails. Especially problematic in covid recovery period.

Wheatsville is an excellant alternativefor those of us that enjoys a farmers market type environment. lt has mosteverything you will need and of course lots of things you can find a need for.lf your like me there are so many items ld use and cook with if only l knew where to get them. The pricing l found was in line with other similiar natural markets. lt takes a couple of visits to get use to their stocking methods. Give it a try and remember this South location is one of the only spots in Austin where you have two naturel markets across from each other. Dont worry there is plenty of parking and for those evening customers the parking lot is open and well lite.

A cashier forgot to give me my change and thought I was lying that she had never given me my change. I had to wait 15 minutes in front of the checkout for the her supervisor to watch the video surveillance to Believe that I was right. He came 15 minutes after being notified that i was waiting and told her what I said to give me my change. It is not respectful to make someone to wait like that especially if he is right and have things to do. They need to have someone to do a better job.

And if those dont strike your fancy- they have an amazing selection of in house made soups or salad or hot barr; unless you just want groceries. 70$ gets you a membership to be a co owner, where you get different perks, sometimes free stuff, mostly just discounted rates. Love the no nonsense staff and management team. Everyone here rocks. Reminds me of a dream Whole Foods tried to carry. So that being said; I WAY prefer it to WF, as this place is far more authentic, traditional, and wholesome.

Im starting a project to review restaurants not based on the quality of the food, but on the amount of unnecessary waste produced from a meal there.All food items were packaged in compostable containers/wrappers. And composting bins were available on site. So it is possible!

Been a member as long as Ive been in Austin. The bulk section really helps me in my zero-waste goal. Ethical eating is much easier when I know the co-op is very careful about the items they stock. The deli is fantastic! I love the vegetarian Frito pie and the burritos at the south location. And they have the only ready-made vegan sushi without cucumbers that I know of in town.

Ive been shopping at Wheatsville since 2010. They have the nicest and friendliest staff you can hope to find. Their breakfast tacos are incredible with reasonable prices and quality ingredients. They will always be my favorite grocery stop in Austin.

I really love all the great food options especially in the deli. Today I saw a sign that said the sandwiches now come with a free pickle spear, which is great, though I forgot this and put my sandwich in the fridge for later. When I just opened it, the pickle was wrapped up in a very thin paper with my sandwich and had made the bread terribly soggy. Maybe find a way to separate the pickle better from the sandwich. Thank you!Edit: I appreciate that a lot, now that I know it gets wrapped up with the sand which I will ask for it on the side. Thank you.

I bike here every week and not only is it easy to get to from the back roads, but it is easy to park your bicycle up in the front near the patio. Wheatsville offers the best in grocer options that include vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, and best of all it is mostly local grocers and companies that sell their products here. The salad and hot bar are probably the best things about this location! You can order your food and sit right outside to enjoy your popcorn tofu poboy (trust me, its SO delicious!).

Fantastic variety for all assortment of foods, hygiene, and supplements on the healthy side. Its true that the produce prices are more than on some other places, but thats what you can expect when its locally sourced and organic. But often Ive found they have better prices on many items I use regularly like the Dr Bronners soaps and bulk dog food. Also, their soups at the hot bar are fantastic every time. Lots of veg, vegan, organic, gluten free options with clear labeling.

So many choices! I really do like Wheatsville. Even tough the store is on the smaller side, they have a big selection of great produce and healthy food options. The reason for the four stars is the pricing. I know they carry a lot of organic items, and thats fine. but there are a few items that are exact same (yes even organic from the same farms) item but cheaper (between $0.50 and $1 difference) elsewhere (like HEB or Sprouts). I noticed it with at least the organic kale and celery. Ill still definitely shop here as they do have other items that are better priced and I do want to support Wheatsville and the idea of it. But usually i just have to keep in mind what is better priced at one place vs another.

I love, love, love me some Wheatsville Co-op! I now do grocery SHOPPING rather than grocery store HOPPING. They have everything I need and I can special order things things that they dont. The staff is awesome friendly and helpful. There is no place in Austin like Wheatsville.

Come here all the time for the coffee, it’s cheap and delicious with a small variety including decaf. They also have agua fresca.

Usually love this place and I’ve been a customer for years but in recent months there has been issues with items getting restocked and feedback hasn’t helped.

Would give it 0 if I could. Some of staff and management very rude. The staff handle food with no gloves. Some of the staff talk disrespectfully and still want respect when talking to them 0 for customer service 0 for inconsistencies in quality of products.
