If you live in Central California and you are into vinyl records you need to get out to Underground Records, great selection and great prices. I have picked quite a few gems at about 30-40% below Discogs or eBay pricing. They go out of their way to make sure the records are in decent shape and not warped which is very important to collectors

I’ve never been to that store before but I’m thoroughly satisfied with my experience. I was gifted some records for my birthday and I noticed the price tag had “Going Underground” on it. So I looked them up, saw how close it was to my house and went. I’m definitely going back. I think that’s going to be a once a month type of treat for myself. Anyone who loves LP’s has to check them out. Great prices, great service, and loyalty based. Two thumbs up for me.

Owner will say mask policy will offend you, even though ever other store in country requires it. walked in the store with my 1 year old daughter then the owner required i put a mask on her. (CDC says any children under 2yrs wearing a mask is dangerous due to it blocking the airway) when i asked even for children under 2, instead of having great customer service and replying to my question, instead of answering me he replies with its not an argument, its the policy in a rude tone. 5 star customer service i never been in an out of a store so fast in my life! owner seriously needs to learn some communication skills.

Earlier today, Me, my boyfriend and my 5 month old were entering this store downtown called “going underground records” we put our mask on and entered the store to a guy telling us we need to put a mask on, I look at my boyfriend and said “we do have our mask on”, he then said “no the baby doesn’t”. Forget me if I’m wrong but the law is for 2 years old and older, my son is 5 months, he can’t even walk yet let alone wear a mask( he will suffocate). The guy was very rude, we’ve gone here before and the workers are always rude. Just want to let you moms know what kind of business this is. Will not be returning, and idc if it’s a policy a 5 month old doesn’t have fully developed lungs.

Owner is very cool!! been going there multiple times since high school and I have talked to them on the phone and they were super nice to me. Please I recommend you check them out Don’t Go anywhere else They will appreciate your business!

Me my wife and our two kids ages 8 and 2. Went in me, my wife and our 8 year old had masks on. They would not let us in because our two year did not have a mask. Hes 2 ...horrible experience will never go here again.

Going Underground in Bakersfield never ceases to amaze me with their diverse catalog of new and used vinyl. Every genre is represented prominently, making for a great experience had for fans of any type of music. To say the experience is eclectic and that the staff is knowledgeable is an understatement. Also, must say, hands down best prices around. If your ears desire love and attention, visit this shop.

A big selection of records from all different types. Big selection of popular records. Not just a bunch of junkies stuff like you see at thrift stores. They also have some used stereo equipment and turntables. Friendly staff.

I started buying my records here recently. They have a vast selection of genres and artists. The records Ive gotten so far have all been in good condition. They have older stuff (think Beatles and earlier) as well as newer artists (Tame Impala etc). They sell both LPs and 45s (I have no idea if they sell 78 RPM records). They also have some turntables available for purchase. I was impressed with their collection of movie soundtrack LPs and hope to see more of it in the future. Overall, unless youre looking for something incredibly specific (like a copy of Abbey Road with a label misprint) I recommend this place 100%.

Best record store in town

In a city with not much to boast about this store turns that around. All types of music. New & used vinyl always coming in. Time after time I find old favorites and new artist to appreciate. Going Underground keeps me and my turntable happy.

The only downside to this place is that youll probably end up blowing all of your money on records because there are so many great choices. And the owner knows his stuff, he always has a suggestion if you need help. No snobs here.

The only place in town to find real gems you wouldnt even think of coming across regardless of genre. You will find good music albums that can appeal to anyone. The shopkeep was also an interesting fellow who knew his records. He has a great patch and shirt selection as well! If youre into music, records, or even stereo equipment and happen to be passing through Bakersfield, Id suggest you stop and check it out, definitely worth it.

Best customer service ever - both Aj and Ronald like to take a personal feel and guide you on a personal tour do the world of music. They love lots of questions and talking about music especially Latin jazz and new world beat. But mostly this is the punk rock stop for all things rare and awesome.

Best record store in town! Massive selection and great staff!

Easily one of the best local record stores I have been to, especially for the area. If you like punk and hard to find rock albums, this is your go to destination. If you prefer other genres the selection may sometimes be a tiny bit smaller, but if you spend sometime looking I guarantee you will find something you need. The owner is very helpful and I have never had a negative experience with the staff, no matter what some other reviewers say. I mainly collect Hip Hop and I have found most other local stores and shops in other towns dont carry anywhere near the selection they have here. They also buy records and always quote a fair price. If you think World Records is lacking in selection and Amoeba is too picked over, you have found your new shop.

I took my wife in because we collect vinyl. The guy working there was an elitist snob who was obviously only interested in helping people with his favorite genré. I recommend World Records, Bruce is fantastic. For collecting hard to find used vinyl we just go to Amoeba records or Record Surplus in L.A.
