Good coffee...but the bathroom needs help..soap dispenser doesnt work and toilet seat wont stay up...And the internet is almost unusable on a consistent basis....itll work for a few minutes and then cuts out and disconnects frequently.
Honestly, the coffee here is not so good. And the snacks are pretty overpriced. For good coffee I usually go to Black Rock.
I meet with clients here all the time. Great coffee and views!
Best Americano w/extra shot of expresso of course☕
Slow regarding number of patrons. Wonderful view outside although some tables stayed for over 2 hrs.
Dirty bathroom, always. Drinks are too sugary and the coffee is weak. I’m comparing this place to Starbucks, and Starbucks is cheaper and better.
My high-schoolers have met friends at Ava Roasteria to get food and drinks. And then to stroll around Progress Ridge. It’s super easy to get to and is a really easy drive from Tigard. There is a lake directly next to Ava’s which is great if you have small children. There is a nice common space near it with views of the lake.I’ve had house iced-coffees which are excellent: great coffee flavor. And I highly recommend the Salted Caramel Chocolate Cupcake. That is amazing! The rest of the menu looks really good too.And the service is very fast and friendly.
I hope I don’t wear out my welcome here because I really like this place! Good coffee and they let me hangout, use the WiFi and get work done. I’ll be coming here many afternoons.
This place has really gone downhill in the past year. The manager is very unpleasant, and not friendly to customers. Baristas at nearby places like Insomnia, Lionheart and Starbucks are *way* nicer. The coffee is ok. The food is ok. Nothing special.
I was stopped in for coffee after a late lunch. I ordered three drinks, and none of them were finished. Its a nice looking place and clean. The staff was nice younger guys, but the coffee wasnt that good and two drinks were made wrong out of the three.
I have been coming here for years to meet up one of my closest friends. Now, my family and I have relocated nearby. The view is always amazing on a hot day. I imagine my daughter playing in the fountain.
Okay coffee but very overpriced. Aesthetic is dated, needs renovating, and not very warm for long hang out sessions either.
I go here often to study and the environment is very accommodating! They have free wifi and plenty of tables. But I recommend calling ahead to ask if they have open tables because they fill up quickly! The only reason Im taking off a couple of stars is because every time after the streudel, the pastries have been SUPER stale 😞
Our classic cake order was so perfect. Light and fluffy with just enough strawberry. Everything looks so good.
Used to like stopping in, but the expanded food menu has resulted in some truly ridiculous wait times for a coffee. Done with this place.
Sad how poorly this coffee shop is ran who counts their till after they rang people up and then make them wait for their coffees....
Tasty coffee and housemade baked goods and sandwiches. Beautiful deck overlooking a lake.
Seriously the slowest service I have experienced and this is not COVID related ! Several people working and watching them work at a snail pace - I had to leave the line and make an alternate coffee choice nearby.
Good coffee and very nice view, but the service was lacking. We came in today at around 4pm and the employee was sitting down when we arrived then got up and rubbed her face and just said hi when we came up to the counter. We asked How are you? And she said Uhhh... Perhaps she was just having an off day, but it definitely wasnt a warm greeting. She seemed bothered by any question or request we had.
A great place to meet for coffee, food and a pleasant atmosphere.
Id love to give this location 5 stars. The coffee is very good, the staff friendly, and there are lots of tables in a clean environment right next to the lake. But the internet connection - prominently advertised on Avas website - is spotty at best when I come here. 0.07 Mbps download is near useless.
Great place to drink coffee and pastries
Always a wonderful coffee shop! Plus the area is very nice and the view is wonderful. Staff has always been nice and friendly.
You’ll end up waiting twenty minutes for a mediocre microwaved sandwich and the coffee is nothing to write home about.
The last two times I have stopped by for homework, the WiFi has been completely out. Also, they frequently do not sanitize tables even when it’s less busy. I sat and watched three different groups of people sit at a table that wasn’t properly sanitized.I’m refraining from giving it one star because before Covid, the place was great and accommodating. Maybe it’s just under really bad management at the moment?
Great service and a beautiful location.
I LOVE this location. If I move I will drive out of my way to go here. Eric and Ethan are absolutely amazing and my drink is perfect every time. Im sure Eric is tired of me bugging him every morning but he never shows it 🤣 I recommend this place to everyone I know. 10/10 coffee beans.
Stopped in for a latte and a few pastries. The latte wasn’t bad, but the pastries left much to be desired. The croissant, for example, was soft and stale. I was expecting it to have the signature buttery crunch of a fresh croissant.
Great coffee shop! So accommodating. WiFi and seating with coffee and food.
While the food and drink at Ava Roasteria are worth returning for, we are unlikely to return for a weekend late lunch. We arrived with my elderly mother-in-law who loves an occasional slice of chocolate cake (excellent, btw) and coffee on a chilly afternoon. We found a cafe full of laptops with very few laptop owners actually dining. Many tables for four held only one or two customers. While we understand that cafes are a great place to study and to set up for the afternoon, we think that Ava Roasteria needs to find a balance between being a study hall and being a cafe, particularly on inclement weather days.
Great place to hang out and get coffee. There were women knitting at a nearby table. I ate the turkey sandwich. It was good. The prices are a little high for everything but you get a view of the lake.
Very nice coffee and pleasant location
Coffee roasters are like breweries in the Portland metro area. There are so many that its easy to think most of them are the same. However, Ava Roasteria separates themselves with the quality and consistency. The drinks are always balanced with their sweetness and boldness. Never feels too sugary or syrupy. Deep tastes that feel quality driven from the freshness of the beans. Excellent. And the food? Honestly, this is where they shine just as bright. The quality of the sandwiches are amazing. The portions to the ingredients, it all just works. Soups and desserts are great too.The entire place just feels high quality. The staff are great too. Very friendly. Its clean and this location has the added benefit of the views of the Progress Ridge lake.
I got a breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee. The sandwich was good. The coffee tasted like they had added a packet of Lipton black tea to the cup. Not for me. Maybe an espresso drink would have been better. I was the only person to order a cup of coffee in the time. I was there but I saw many people with espresso.Just disappointing for a cup of coffee.
Friendly staff, beautiful location near the waterfront, open and airy interior. Best place to get coffee in Beaverton!
I have had several great past experiences for excellent espresso and good food. Recent visits have been less favorable. It took over 20 minutes to get my latte order and I was unable to get a breakfast sandwich as the wait for that would have been even longer. Normally there are plenty of staff to handle a Saturday morning flow (which at 8:30 this particular morning wasn’t too busy) but the reduced staffing has led to long wait times and clearly over extended employees.
Very incompetent employees. Have placed several Doordash orders and there were missing items. Called the business and employees were really clueless.9/11/20: Management responded to my review. Sad theyre blaming the quality of the food / food that wasnt included on Coronavirus when it has nothing to do with that.
One of my favorite coffee places. You can sit and study have coffee or tea. Or even sit out side and it has a beautiful lake and mini waterfall. Its a great place to meet up with friends to talk. Or bring your kids to view the lake with the ducks. In the summer it has shooting water out the floor. Its a great place. Please go experience for your self.
Ava Roasteria is conveniently located in the Progress Ridge shopping center near the fountain and has a view of the small lake. Quite a bit of seating available both indoor and out. They have free wifi available. The coffee drinks are of average quality and can vary depending on who is running the machine. They offer a pretty good selection of high-end pastries as well as some sandwiches and salads. The place can get busy and loud especially when the weather is beautiful.
GLUTEN-FREE bread! I feel like that’s super important to advertise, grateful I can grab coffee and a breakfast sandwich and still adhere to my allergies. lots of seating, always packed, but manages to not be noisy. recommend for gf people and those who need a place to study!
Avas is great for a cup of coffee, late or iced drink. Tea is over priced. Deserts and savory items are all good. Not enough plugs for charging devices but the view is beautiful.
Love this place to meet up with girlfriends. I got their iced hot cocoa, very nice on a hot day! I bring my little one and sit outside. Wonderful view of the lake and okay if kids are a little noisy when we are outside.
So I really really like the place honestly! It’s very cute, the service is wonderful but I will say the coffee base beverages are sometimes not my favorite. In their defense I am kind of a Starbucks drinker and probably use to stronger coffee.
6 years ago I met a man at your cafe. One year ago he brought me back. He proposed to me outside at the docks but you were totally a part of it. Avas thank you for being there for that event and all the little ones that led to our engagement.
The location is great, the service is generally good, but their coffee just isnt very good. I would say its personal preference, but my wife agrees. Pastries are so-so. The nice thing is you can wander down to petite Provence and get both coffee and pastries much better.
I work next door so I go there often...i love the outdoor seating with its view of the lake and waterfountain...unique coffe and tea flavors as well as sweets..verry little in way of lunch but do carry a few sandwiches.a little expensive
Very impressed with the quality of this coffee branchThe cashier was very kind, attentive & helpfulI ordered an Iced white chocolate mochaWhich was delicious.. fine, rich with almost a little bit of smokey butterscotch taste to it which was unexpected and amazingWaiting at the bar I could see the barista finishing off my drink with care and precisenessI could tell so much is put into making the drinks special which is truely appreciatedSuch a nice difference compared to other coffee chains Ive been toI will definitely be returning ☕
Good coffee. Their tables and chairs always look a little worn out. But the two stars is because the baristas are so rude. Customer service is terrible. I feel like I am inconveniencing them by ordering. You guys could be so much better.
I liked coming here to do homework but they changed their hours because they were slow between 1am and 4am. What do you expect people have to sleep and I wish that they could advertise better to college students but its a couple of miles away from the main highway that you dont even know that its there unless you have been to Progress Ridge Mall other times.
Very friendly service and they are open 24/7. They were more than happy to customize the order around our food requirements allergies. Excellent atmosphere as well.
Great place! When the weather is nice, they have outside seating. They are next to the lake so the view is nice. Their coffee and tea are very good as well as their sandwiches.
My favorite place to go for coffee with my gf. She gets coffee and I get white hot chocolate. Guys coffee spot for sure
I think the location makes this place a 5 star for me. A lovely view of the progress ridge pond on one side and a nice family friendly outdoor fountain on another. Nice industrial chic glass garage door feel that allows for a nice openness and airflow. Barista service is friendly, with a nice variety of flavors in coffee and tea.
Five stars if the wifi would be decent. Other than that its a great place and very peaceful
I love this place. I live 5 minutes from it and go very often. It has great atmosphere, friendly baristas and good drinks and food.Today I was having a bad day after getting charged $400 when my car got towed, and the friendly barista asked me how my day had been, so I told her and she gave me my drink for free to make my day a little better. Now that is good service, five stars!
Great food variety...and tasty. Many options in drinks for dairy-free, including chocolate! Friendly service. Love the atmosphere....just a welcoming place.
Comfortable atmosphere and beautiful view of the small lake behind it, with a large covered patio for when the weather allows or for visiting with a dog. Excellent coff, and the pastries Ive tasted were great. I do wish they had a few more non-sugary food options but thats a minor quibble.
A tad overpriced for a mediocre beverage. The interior aesthetic is cute but theres usually not enough seating during peak traffic times. Pretty in the summer though
Great food, great service. The place is fantastic.
Decorum is nice, but the coffee could be a little cheaper. Go to Starbucks if you want a quick cup, but come here to experience fine interior decorating
Coffee today was ordered with no foam,a vanilla almond milk latte 20 oz. Recieved drink it was 3/4 of an inch down from top of cup. I went up to barista with lid off and asked if she could add to it because it was supposed to be a 20 ounce. She took the drink and filled it from pump pot of house coffee. The Hall St Roasteria is always spot on. When you pay premium price for a drink wouldnt you expect it to be right? If Iwanted a cup of black coffee I would have ordered one.
This is my favorite place to go think, do homework, visit with friends or just stare out at the Lake. Love the way they light the place up, the waterfalls on the warmer seasons, how they open up the glass walls that are actually doors. Good find.
Progress Ridge is a gem overall, but this coffee shop next to the fountain seals it. The heated patio has a lovely few of the pond and water feature. Spanish Cream latte is consistently good and the pricing fits the upscale neighborhood.
Good coffee and friendly staff. Pleasant atmosphere for conversation. It would be great if added vegan options in the sandwiches menu.
Came in late at night and McKenzie was incredibly helpful! She had amazing customer service; definitely will be coming back!
Im happy they are open early on Sunday. The staff is helpful and friendly. I recommend a dirty chai latte.
Adorable little cafe filled with tons of homemade goodies. My kiddo loves the chocolate chip cookies 😁
Great lil place to sit, work, take in the view of the pond or kiddos playing in the fountain in Summer. Open virtually all night. Gotta love that.
They always have good customer service. Even the one time I got home and realized my drink wasnt made correctly, I called the store and they made it right. Worth a visit!
Popular place for students to study. I like Thai ice tea. High quality for sure.
The cashier didnt greet me at all, didnt smile at any time throughout our transaction and didnt say thank you or goodbye at the end of it, and I left with the vague feeling that I had done something wrong and regretting the tip Id left her for very little work. I had walked in sort of remembering that my previous experience had been similar, but I wanted to get a gift card for someone to a nice local coffee place. My memory of my last visit had been verified though. The cashier is a bummer.
Hawaiian coffee is one of a kind. They also have a good selection of pastries.
My husband and I live close by and today is our second time coming to the Progress Ridge location. The person at the counter did not greet us and almost seemed like it was an inconvenience to take our order. The gentleman that was also working while he was filling the napkins almost ran into my husband. Both of these employees clearly do not belong in customer service. Point is like most things such as food and coffee in the Portland area there are too many great places to go to put up with poor coffee, food or service.
Great coffee spot with nice staff and some good food. Outdoor seating is covered, very nice!
Great Ambience. Great coffee. Great food. This place has it all!
I used to love and go to this coffee shop daily, because when done right its the most delicious mocha Ive had. However they began to constantly run out of milk chocolate chips on a regular basis. They would mix the dark chocolate and white chocolate without telling you then when you asked why it tasted funny they would mention they had mixed them. They ran out of cups several times and would have to give you the size up and not fill it full sometimes it affected the taste. They had problems with there machine and mochas tasted watery or burnt the flavor wasnt consistent and so it was a disappointment. One time they had ran out of espresso beans and never mentioned prior to me ordering . When I got my drink it was gross and asked what the deal was they ran out and used the regular ground coffee used for drip coffee. They charged about .85 for one small scoop of extra chocolate chips so you felt like you should get more to get your moneys worth. Overall flavor was inconsistent and management needs to get it together and not consistently run out of things.
Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I am not one to complain about customer service nor am I one to return a food/drink item even when my order is wrong. The past three times I have been to this Ava, my drink has either tasted poor, taken forever to be made, or never was made until I asked where it was. The customer service has been lacking significantly more times than not as the staff has not been welcoming and they rarely smile. I feel more like I am an inconvenience to them then a customer. I have not complained about these experiences as I keep hoping things will improve but today I have decided to share my experience as it was horrific. I hope that this review can encourage the owner to make positive changes to promote a welcoming/friendly environment where there is communication when things don’t go smoothly. Honestly, with this experience, I would love it if an Insomnia replaced this location as that is a welcoming environment😊I usually go to Ava when I am looking to walk around the shopping area/pond with my toddler as it is not my favorite coffee place and based upon past experiences.. Upon ordering, the female (who I later found out was named Sydney who said she was the manager?) who took our order advised us that the sandwich would take 20 minutes to make since there were 4 sandwiches in ahead of us. I told her that was fine and I very much appreciated the forewarning. Well 20 minutes pass and I go to the sandwich maker (who I found out was Collin as I appreciated his service) and asked about it and he said he didn’t have my order and asked who took my order. I pointed to the female who took my order. He said he would look into it. A few minutes later, there was a sandwich on the bar and I asked Sydney if that was the sandwich I ordered. She said it was a sandwich with turkey and not bacon (which I ordered). She did not exactly answer my question so I wasn’t sure what to do. At that time, another customer asked Sydney if it was her sandwich on the bar and Sydney said “no., it’s with turkey and not bacon.” Again, that was not an answer to the question so this customer, seemingly looking for some sort of additional information said, “okay….I guess I will just wait.” Still no communication from anyone about our order’s status so I wasn’t sure if I was expected to just take the sandwich I didn’t order so I asked her if I should just take the sandwich on the bar. She said “No. Just give me a second.” As she was making beverages, I heard her very annoyingly say (through her mask mind you), “I wish I could kick that baby out!” This was clearly my child as he was squealing by this point. I was not sure what to do so I walked away.I am not one to allow my child to scream without taking him outside as I find it embarrassing myself so my husband took my toddler outside. Once my husband and toddler were walking out of the door, I went to the Sydney who was now taking orders and asked her if I could just get my money back since it is clear she wants us to leave based on the comment she made about wanting to “kick my baby out.” Her response was “I was trying to get the order right.” There was no apology whatsoever and only justification. I asked her for her name, which she gave me and I asked who her manager was. She said that she was the manager. I told her that it is really unfortunate that she is the manager and making comments about wanting to kick babies out. I told her that we would already be out of here had our order been made correctly in the first place. Poor Collin gave me the correct sandwich and I told him I appreciate how nice he has been and made sure to get his name. I fully believe in reporting any positive with the negative and I think Collin did an excellent job while likely being embarrassed by his manager’s behavior himself. Sydney refunded the money and I said thank you and walked out. Her actions and statements were the worst customer service I have ever experienced by ANY person, let alone a manager.
Great atmosphere, food, drinks, and top of the line staff... but the wifi here is pretty trash, and it doesnt even matter how many people are in the shop using the network. I cant even load a simple google search without waiting for sometimes a couple minutes at a time, and it took me 5 minutes to get to this review page. Not a good place for doing any sort of work online.
Good coffee. However, I feel like customer service is little bit slow. Also, always having issue with internet. But the best part is you can have great coffee at the middle of the night!!
Great coffee and seating options indoors and outdoors, not a whole lot of breakfast pastry type items, but some cute desserts!
People dont come here for the coffee, which is okay. They come here for the wifi and the late hours, and the food here is pretty damn good, especially the sandwiches. This is also a beautiful location to walk around outside.
I have been coming to this location for several years now to study and meet up with friends. The coffee is not great and the live music is horrible. That being said I come because the location and hours of operation are convenient. The service is generally good. Tonight however I was trying to finish some homework I took a break and walked over to New-seasons to purchase some cold medicine when I came back with a brown paper bag which I placed on the table and proceeded to do my HW an employee came over and told me outside food was not allowed although I was NOT eating anything, all I had was my latte which I purchased from Ava. I found this extremely rude as to I was not eating any outside food. If he saw me eating something I did not purchase there then he would of had every right to ask me to put it away.
This place has a great atmosphere and great food. The service there is good and it depends on how crowded the place is. I have tried their hot caramel macchiato and I loved it.
Decent Wi-Fi is the most basic thing a coffee shop should be able to provide. Ava used to be great, but feels like it’s getting run into the ground. Wi-to rarely works anymore; the outlets on the walls are getting worn out and won’t even hold the computer plugs. Good coffee and nice atmosphere, but if you have any work you have to do on a computer, I would highly recommend somewhere else. Would be glad to rate higher once management shows they can keep up with the high amount of traffic they have come through
Good coffee and yummy treats. The staff are generally friendly and pleasant. Great outdoor seating.
Update:coffee is better now, wifi also has been substantially improved except when the place is totally full. Lack of outlets still a pain. Nicer to come here now.
Cute place! Nice for studying, not too loud
Great coffee. Not over-roasted (burnt) like the big, national chain. Delicious baked goods, too, especially the apple streudle.
Almost every night I go there its really great place and a wonderful people who sits and works there. Also that place or that coffee shop has a unique view where it located at the lake where sometimes you can see people fishing there 💕
Easy going place. You can work here on your laptop (free WiFi and electricity) while enjoying a coffee with a friend. They often have people sing, Fridays I believe.
I love this place. My boyfriend and I enjoy coming here for lunch dates. The staff is friendly and the patio our back is beautiful.
WiFi needs major improvement. Would hang out and spend more but WiFi is terrible. Will lose business if not improved.
Great place on a Summers day. Beautiful pond and also a fountain for the kids to play in as you sip top notch caffeine.
