The atmosphere is so welcoming! The employees are so helpful and know about every single product in their store. That’s pretty impressive. I always find what I need when I shop here.

Love this place. Natural medicine is always better! Check out the clothing section, too. Its kind of ducked off in the back, but Ive gotten a few really cool vintage pieces there!

I got followed/watched around the whole store. I basically felt pushed out because it seemed to me that they thought I was going to steal something. What was most irritating was that I was in a work uniform with a name tag. How far was I really going to get with my whole identity on display. The cashier was nice, just not a fan of being treated like I was doing something wrong.

A close friend recommended this place to buy some items for a project I’m working on. I received super rude service over the phone and was hung up on. I called back only to speak with the same snide woman who was again not helpful and condescending . The golden temple does not follow golden rule.. how disheartening. I won’t be spending my money. Service is just as important as the product.I’m looking online and thru other reviews I see that others have experienced similar treatment. Just sad.

All time favorite small business! We LOVE the vegan food (beans and rice is my favorite!), unique shopping experience, and friendly staff. Totally worth the longish drive for us, and we always look forward to going! :)

There is literally no words for the amount that I love and cherish the golden temple. Their food is so fresh and healthy, and literally the only vegan option in Birmingham. It is peaceful, and the staff is a huge reason I come back. I love you golden temple

Omg this place is freaking magical! They have everything from crystals to herbs, sage to essential oils, books to jewelry... Everything. The process are very reasonable and their staff is very knowledgeable in their inventory. Which is a plus;!

I have been going to this place since I was a kid and I absolutely love it! The staff members are amazing and the quality of product that they provide is top tier. I usually get my Shea butter and cocoa butter from there and also essential oils and teas. Their cafe is also great, especially their smoothies!

Im a nice person and dont really like to give bad reviews, but every time i go into this shop there is this one sales person who is NOT friendly towards me at all, i always catch him saying something about me to other people.. Mind you i always spend money or buy something when i go in this shop.. Like what is his/her problem?🤷...i tried to over look him, but at this point i will not be spending any more of by money at this location.. There are nice shops and better vibe of people, who are not RACIST! At shops in Atlanta that i have visited.. Yes i will go the extra mile for people who are not RACIST and who have good vibes!! ...never give your money to places that are not friendly toward BLACK PEOPLE, who treat you as if you are stealing, mind you i work in the medical field; and if a place leave you feeling at a lesser vibe then you were before you went in there, then thats a place you need NOT to return!!! ... Other then that my life is so good!!! LIFE is good! ☀😇😊😃

I love the products, teas, herbs gluten free foods and spiritual products. The restaurant has some pretty nice food, I love the smoothies ❤️.

I visited this store end of January. My primary reason for visiting Golden Temple was the vegan options at the restaurant . I will say the food was delicious but I cannot and will not give this more than one star, because of the sanitation and the staff appearance and lack there of. I believe they have potential but it’s hard to comfortable eat when you look around and see so much dirt that it’s obvious it’s left there day after day. Furthermore management should make their employees be more presentable. Many employees appeared to be high my apologies if they were not but they looked stone out of their minds. I suggest they hold a store meeting to discuss the importance of dusting, cleaning the table,chairs, walls it shouldn’t take long to fix this problem.

Great lunch spot!

I feel congested when I attempt to shop for clothes. I know the owners cant be rich because of how they crowd the store up with so many products. Clothing is dizzying. So much, so tight and who really wants to touch all those clothes to find their size?

What a hidden gem to pleasurably stumble upon 💎👏🏻 this place has everything I could want and more. Can we talk about the book section? Or how helpful the staff was. Not to mention the crystals & overall vibe. Thank u Golden Temple 🥰

Great lunch! I ate the lunch special of the day. Super flavorful and best part: Vegan and gluten-free. Awesome spot for people with allergies and vegan/vegetarian lifestyles. The store is small but a huge bulk slice selection.

Lunch served up quickly, and the food is legit. Usually, they have two different soup of the day specials to choose from each day, and they always go great along side a Vegan grill cheese sandwich. They have no problem customizing your order for you - Which is pretty key when looking for Vegan options.I believe they have a student discount if you show the cashier your Student ID but Im not 100% positive.

I overlooked this place as a lunch option for so long admittedly because I was afraid what “health food” might entail. Boy, was I missing out! I go about once a week now. One plate is usually $15 after tip, but it’s more than enough food to feed two people or expect an enormous amount of leftovers. The quesadilla is so good - packed with veggies and slathered with salsa and sour cream, but I also love their daily specials. I’ve gotten every daily special and I love them all. I have moved away since I wrote this review, but I still think about Golden Temple’s food all the time. 😋

Awesome place! Love the restaurant and the store. Lovely employees with tons of positive energy! Fair-trade retail. Organic, vegetarian (and sometimes, vegan) dining options. Wednesdays Mac and Cheese will leave you with a new-found love for the day before Thursday. If youve never experienced The Golden Temple, youre missing out. Also, stay away from the sofa in the restaurant if you dont want to fall asleep...it has that effect. Tranquil, yet full of life. Take a thought-provoking, nearly mesmerizing walk through the retail aisles... you wont regret the journey.

Visited the store today to purchase some items and look at crystals .The staff made me feel so uncomfortable. I was asked at least 6 times back to back if I needed help with anything. They followed me around the store and the entire staff seem to have anxiety. This has worsen over the years (I am a regular customer ). The staff does not give you time or space to browse the crystals nor jewelry. I felt so uncomfortable that I purchased what I had and left. They think certain people are stealing and I know this for sure because I heard a conversation between the staff during one of my visits to the store. I will be finding a new health food store to shop and I will spread the word to everyone else that I know. Management and staff at this store needs to know that everyone that looks a certain way or color does not steal. They are having problems with people stealing because theyre watching the wrong person. ... Ive spent too much money in this store to be followed around like a criminal. I will spend my money elsewhere !!!!!

I would give this place 100 stars if I could!!! The menu looks amazing & even though we showed up after the cafe had closed (be mindful of their hours), the staff had left behind containers of free savory potato/tofu mix, brown rice, black beans, and red bean chili. And we probably spent an hour or so looking at the amazing, eclectic variety of tchotchkes, clothes, and nutritious foods from around the world. Can’t wait to come back!

Golden Temple is a staple of vegetarian cuisine in Birmingham. Having been open for almost 50 years, its a great spot for lunch any day but Sunday (the cafe is closed), and theyve got an eclectic store, as well. Every menu item is either vegan or can be made vegan, and they have a different special every day. I just wish they were open for brunch and/or dinner!

Out of all the golden temples, this one wins. For all you meat loving meat eaters out there, dont be afraid to try a vegan restaurant. You might learn something about yourself! Golden Temple Birmingham, AL combines vegetables in ways meat eaters could not create.

One of the employees accused my son of breaking a bongo drumstick. He did not break and she did not even find the stick. He found the Ball of the end of one of the drumsticks in the floor and was playing with it.I am a regular customer and one of the ladies that worked there was so rude. She kept asking every five seconds if I needed help. I will never shop there again. I will be speaking with management.

I have been a customer for over 30 years. They are the best in customer service and support. If you dont see something on the shelf, just ask. They will immediately check their inventory.

I cant believe you actually charge people $10.95 for what is expected to be a nice healthy salad but is actually an old wilted brown lettuce salad. Shame on you for advertising your food as healthy. No one wants to eat that and if I had seen it before I left, I wouldve asked for my money back.

Super friendly staff! I needed a place to set up and work on my laptop remotely from my office while visiting Birmingham. They were more than happy to give me the free wifi password. Internet speed was very adequate for free = 13 Mbps Down / 1 Mbps UP .. Plenty of seating so you dont feel intrusive to those who are eating.

As an African American vegetarian for over 20 years, to me this establishment is no different at treating AA than the Jim Crow south. You would think that the Buddhist nature wouldnt warrant following a black medical professional thru the store to see if he is stealing (yep twiice while i was in scrubs) or blatant preferential treatment to whites. This is the south, I get it and unfortunately I have accepted the cultural racial sickness that exist. However, seeing it in an environment that I usually would call a safe haven from such ills, is disgusting and a betrayal of the community that they cater to. If youre a minority go the extra mile to WF or TJ and save yourself the time travel to the Jim Crow era.

Like the atmosphere but some items are a bit overpriced and they sell secondhand clothes for more than theyre worth.
