Great place. Dr. Canting is not pushy about you getting new glasses each year just because your insurance covers it. He is always friendly and upbeat. I purchased a pair of glasses and the price seems reasonable to me.**COVID note: They follow the protocols. Each machine they confirm that it has has been cleaned so you can feel comfortable. Saw one staff member without a mask, but she was way behind the desk so it didnt bother me.

Big mistake going to this place. This business recommended progressive glasses for me which they were eager to charge for from my insurance & copays from me. But since discovering these new glasses were causing double vision while driving at night I contacted the office about it. They insisted on another exam for a fee of $64, of course, which I refused. I already had the annual eye exam with them & paid for the more expensive progressive lenses glasses recommended by them which are causing the double vision. I dont have any vision problems with my old glasses. This place did not fix the problem, will not give any refunds nor accept any responsibility! The office manager said they will not do any refunds. So I am out of money on glasses I paid for that dont work. Except for the 2 people that sit at the front desk who are always nice, rest of this office are just greedy & rude! Taking my business elsewhere.UPDATED: This place is also dishonest, besides just being greedy & rude!! It’s unbelievable!! Answer to their shameless lying response:1. I notified them of the vision issues within 3 months of picking up the glasses, (NOT 8 months!!). And the lab offered a 6 month warranty.2. The manager came up with some weird lie about how how they don’t have my copay & the insurance billed amount. According to her: all that money approximately $1400+ was collected by them & sent to the insurance company and I needed to contact the insurance company for any refunds. They said I would not be able to remake the glasses after 30 days of picking them up even though I was told by them that I needed to give it more time to get used to wearing the new progressive lenses.3. I was told to bring in the glasses but they insisted on an eye exam for a fee. I declined an additional exam explaining I was not having vision problems with the old glasses only with the new glasses. Then I was told to come back again with both old & new glasses to figure out the problem. I asked the manager to call the lab to get them remade or fixed. She said there’s little to no chance the lab would do that since it’s over a month. I said after waiting to get used to them, after about 3 months I realized it was also causing double vision when driving at night which I rarely do and I notified them as soon as I found that out. But upon calling the lab at my insistence, sure enough, the lab had no problem agreeing to remake the glasses because there was a 6 month warranty. It was just the office/owners that were not eager to start the process. Then the manager says the lab will make it for single vision so I asked her about a refund on the extra money charged for the progressive lenses that don’t work. Then she lies/says that you will need to ask your insurance company for that. They sent all the money they collected from me to the insurance company. This made no sense.4. Lastly, when I was waiting to be helped, another customer there asked what was going on. So I simply told her my glasses are causing double vision and I am having a hard time getting the problem resolved. Me talking to another customer according to the manager/owner’s wife is me causing a disturbance & now says that I’m talking trash about their business and I’m not welcome there! If the other customer reads this review, I hope she will comment and validate what happened. We were having a conversation and the lying manager used it as an excuse to not do anything about the glasses! If the prescription is bad, they should not charge for a second exam, if the glasses are made badly, they should replace it. If you are now wanting to make only single vision lenses, then refund the difference you charged me.I will make it a point to call them out on their lies.I was a customer for 3 years & treated with their fake niceness until I wanted a refund for the difference or them to fix their mistake!!4. My insurance confirmed that they had no problem crediting me for glasses/exam that was bad and to collect the copay refund from your office. But you’ll make any excuse to avoid a refund.

I have been seeing Dr Canting for about 5 years. His staff is so friendly and I love Dt Canting’s boisterous personality. His selection of glasses are great and I feel like I’m getting a thorough exam. Never rushed. Highly recommend this optometrist!

I just wanted to take the time to say how wonderful everyone is at this office. Every time I go there, the staff makes me feel so incredibly comfortable. Dr.Canting literally is saving my eyesight. He is the only Optometrist that noticed I have narrow angle glaucoma. Today I was in for new contact lenses, and he wouldn’t let my leave without the staff making an appointment for me (tomorrow) to get the help I needed for my condition. I cannot say enough about the care and empathy I have been shown at this office. And I adore that Dr.Canting’s wife works there also!! She is so sweet & taught me in 2 minutes how to put my contacts in & take them out-after my own million failed attempts.God definitely put these wonderful people in me life....thanks to them, I am on a happy road to seeing life a little more clearer.🙏😊
What a terrible customer experience from unfriendly and unpleasant staff. Ive never had an eyeglass place charge me for a screw, particularly in such a hostile way. Its pretty simple to say there is a charge upfront, or just tell me you you dont do that for non-patients. Dont put in the screw then announce its $5.00. Sorry I pulled you away from your important conversations with each other as no one else was in the building.
This was my first time at Canting Optometry and I am very impressed. The staff from front desk, to preliminary exam and exam by Dr Canting was quick, thorough and very professional. Dr Canting is awesome and so funny! Heidi helped me pick out the perfect frames and I was out in an hour. I highly recommend!

After non-stop turnover of doctors at my previous provider (one of the big national chain types), switched over here after seeing the new office which is close to my work. So happy I did. Its clear Dr. Canting loves what he does and cares for his patients. Rather than just trying to get you in and out as fast as possible, he spends time with his patients, and his energetic personality is contagious. The staff is great too. Switching my daughter over too even though its a bit of a drive from home...but so worth it. Highly recommend!
Excellent is the perfect word for Dr. Canting and his team! They are excellent care providers with excellent customer service and a pleasant office atmosphere. I have been going here for a decade (even when I have lived out of state) because I wouldnt have it any other way. Honestly, I rarely, if ever write reviews, but I rely heavily upon them when in need of a new provider, service, trip, etc. Therefore, I thought Id chime in case this helps anyone else. I always felt I received top flight care from Dr. Canting. He took a real interest in my eye health. Once, I had some flashing in my eye, and he met quickly after hours to see if I had a loose retina, which thankfully I did not. I have used him for about 15 years. I have recently had cataract surgery, do am unlikely to see him any more.
After several years of poor experience (no continuity with the doctors and opticians, hurried eye exams, incorrect prescriptions requiring multiple trips to correct, etc.) at a large eye care chain, we decided to try Dr. Canting based on the excellent reviews for his office. Our experience was also 5 star - personal treatment by Dr. Canting and his staff, a very thorough exam including time to discuss several issues and a very honest recommendation that new glasses were not needed. Dr. Canting will be our new eye doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Canting for nearly 20 years. I wouldnt go to any other eye doctor, and I wish that every one of my others doctors were exactly like him. He is one of the two most competent doctors Ive ever seen; a very keen diagnostician and always has the perfect solutions to any issue. He is very caring toward all his patients. He makes himself available when I have concerns, always fitting me into his extremely packed schedule. Hes also very friendly and kind. Everyone in his office is equally attentive, caring, and treats you like family.

My entire family has been going to his practice for many years and I cant say enough positive things about them. Dr. Canting has always been upbeat and positive. Holly is the pro at making sure your insurance claim is taken care of correctly and is super to work with. A great team!
The Doc saved my sight in my left eye. I had a torn retina and didnt know it. I hate getting my eyes dilated and I am VERY stubborn - but thank God The Doc won that argument, I consented to the dilation...he saw the quite large tear, immediately set up a visit with a specialist for the next day, called me at home after the procedure and all is well. One thing I would advise patients is, LISTEN to the Doc, get the COMPLETE eye exam, be prepared for some zingers, because The Doc is REALLY funny and has a great personality! Dr. Canting LOVES what he does and it shows!!!

I was having trouble resolving an issue with my contacts with my previous eye doctor so I decided to switch and luckily stumbled upon Dr. Cantings practice. He knew exactly what was wrong and resolved my issue pretty quickly. He is really friendly and funny with his patients. Once during a yearly check up, at the last minute it was decided I really needed my eyes dilated and even though that takes time and I hadnt scheduled for that, there was no hesitation getting it done. Hes very patient when I ask him to keep switching between lenses because I analyze so much deciding whether A or B is the better one! His office is not exactly close to my work or home, but its worth the drive. I have been going to his practice for years now and I highly recommend him.

My experiences with Preston Plaza Optometry (formerly Eyecare Center) have always been outstanding. Dr. Canting and his staff are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable.On a personal note, Dr. Canting is responsible for essentially saving my fathers life. My father went in for a regular checkup and alerted Dr. Canting to a gray film that was sporadically floating across his eye. Dr. Canting ran some tests and immediately became concerned and sent him to a neurological ophthalmologist. The ophthalmologist determined my father previously had several TIAs (mini strokes). My father was then referred to a neurologist to determine the cause. He found out that he had a blocked carotid artery in his neck and was at high risk for a massive stroke at any given time. Surgery followed shortly thereafter, the artery was cleared, and my father is doing great. None of that would have been possible and my father may not be here today if it were not for Dr. Cantings expertise and thoroughness.I have heard several other examples where Dr. Canting examined a patient, during business hours or after, that led to emergency and/or life-saving care. Dr. Canting is an outstanding doctor and even better person. He puts his patients and their health above all else. My family will never go anywhere else and I would recommend him to anyone. I strongly encourage anyone looking for eye care to call Preston Plaza Optometry, set up a visit, and see for yourself.

Dr. Canting is AWESOME!!! My daughter had something in her eye that we couldnt get out on a Sunday morning and she was in a lot of pain. I called Dr. Cantings after hours phone # to ask for an urgent care recommendation that could deal with eye issues but he insisted on seeing her himself! 20 minutes later he had the object out. What Dr. opens his office on a Sunday to help a patient these days?I had already been thrilled with Dr. Canting when I was trying to find bi-focal contacts that would work for me. Most people have to deal with a lense for distance and one for up close, but that didnt work for me when working on a computer (middle distance). Dr. Canting saw me at least 6 times to make sure I found the perfect pair even though I was willing (only because I didnt want to bother him) to settle on something less than perfect. He was so happy to help and really wanted to make sure I had the perfect set. Ask any eye Dr. - finding the right prescription for bi-focal contacts can be like finding a needle in the haystack so most drs. arent willing to suggest it as an alternative for their patients because they dont want to do what Dr. Canting did - take the time to see me several times to find that perfect prescription. Thank you Dr. Canting - you are AWESOME!!!
