Waste of space. Worst music venue In chapel hill. They don’t pay musicians, cancel gigs last min, not to mention the food is horrible. Don’t waste your time here. They don’t even have good beer. Don’t come to this spot. Don’t forget about the roaches on the bar.
Picked this place for a girls night spot on a Saturday night and I was a fan before I even walked in the door based on the interaction I had with the owner making a reservation. ❤️ The service when we showed up was warm and welcoming and they did a great job filling our bellies and making us feel so welcome! This last year has been so stressful and hard on small business, but the crew at this place did not let any of that show. Love the vibes and the food and will definitely be coming back to try more food! Thanks for a fun evening Imbibe! 👏🏼👏🏼😍😍
The best cupcakes Ive ever had, and this girl has had some some cupcakes! Thank you Cindy!
Get the crawfish cheese curds, probably one of the yummiest things Ive ever had. The muffaleta was tasty too and try abunch of their homemade sauces!! Loved this taste of Nola in NC ❤
Dirty fries were pretty good, I forget what the fried balls are, and ghost pepper pork rinds. The pork rinds are made in house so they are fresh. Dont order the ghost pepper ones unless you are hard core. BF and I had them and spent the next two days running to the bathroom. Yes they really are that hot. Totally worth it though... We ate every last one.
Imbibe, from what I can assess, is a Creole-styled bar with an excellent set of cooks who are passionate about their work. Every week they receive a new shipment of ingredients, seemingly straight from New Orleans, and produce an expert menu filled with delectable entrees. Every single meal sparks elation in me. Forget Time-Out; THIS is the place where you should be headed in Chapel Hill. Its a must-try restaurant.
I wanted to check this place out but it has a very unwelcoming vibe. All of the doors and windows are boarded up and you have to order through a plexiglass wall similar to a drive-thru bank teller. It is a time capsule for the peak of the pandemic. The precautions here are not conducive to an enjoyable experience not are they in line with scientific guidance for medical professionals and the CDC. They do have a sign outside that says they believe in science I wish they would follow the latest and most up-to-date science.
We got takeout last week! We got the crawfish cheese curd, crab bisque fries, and the fried catfish.Overall, we enjoyed the food and are looking forward to returning here when dine-in is open so that we can have everything fresh. I am giving it 4-stars because it is a bit more expensive and I dont think the price is completely justified. However, I would still highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in trying the food. They have a unique taste with dishes I dont commonly see elsewhere, and is worth a try!
Had it twice, both times was really great. The po boys may be the move here - blackened catfish was better than Cajun chicken fingers (where was the spice)? Dont advise getting on BBQs biscuit; theyre bomb but not structurally sound enough for the sammy. The fresh pork rinds were fun, but I dont need to try them again. If they had a bit more fat on them, itd be another story.
Imbibe is fantastic! The food is really amazing and flavorful, and I wish I could try everything on the menu. I recently treated myself to the fried shrimp po boy and the crawfish soup, and it was superb. Although Imbibe is not currently doing dine-in, when I went to see live music here last year, it was a fun, vivacious atmosphere where everyone was having a good time. The owner is also incredibly friendly and interacts a lot with the local community.
Amazing place with amazing staff and owner. Good for food and good for drinks
Imbibe is always incredibly delicious and there are plenty of vegetarian options! The rotating specials are to die for and the desserts are exemplary. 100% recommend to all.
Somehow I only discovered Imbibe during COVID, so I have only had their takeout. But their food is great! Love their Louisiana cuisine. Its always fresh. And real poboy bread! Their king cake is the best Ive found in the triangle.
Avoid the popcorn shrimp poboy thats an abomination. But the oyster poboy and crawfish bread are divine@@
One of the best spots for local flavor, both in terms of food and character. Im a fan of the blackened catfish poboy and the owner isnt afraid to make things spicy, which I appreciate.
We have ordered from Imbibe twice now, and have been really impressed with the quality of food, commitment to service, and personal attention. In our most recent order (yesterday), I had a few unusual requests (ex: not to bake a turnover because I wanted to bake it the next day; not to include cutlery etc; and to use eco friendly packaging if available). Not only were our requests accommodated, the owner/ chef personally texted my husband directions on how to prepare the turnover, which turned out perfectly. We are big fans of Imbibe, and will be ordering again soon :)
Probably the best food Chapel Hill has to offer. And this is coming from a vegetarian!
Great place to support when the man who also works the door at Zogs isn’t working. Out of every interaction I have had with him over the past 3 years he is consistently rude and abrasive. My recommendation would be to take a 30 second walk to the far superior Lindas, a restaurant that is more deserving of local support during the pandemic.
Whoa, that was delishhhious. Catfish poboy, blackened jumbo shrimp, fries- shoot even their ranch was the best I’ve had. We also got an indulgent pimento lobster pastry- like damn, stop with the flavors-but don’t stop... Happy I made the trip out. Owner and staff, stay strong and thank you for a delicious meal. Everyone else, please throw your money to this business. You can’t get food in the triangle like this!!!!
I ordered the to-go gumbo. It took 20 minutes to get to me, and it was a small portion considering the price.
Loved it!!.. gotta try the crab bisque, although might be spicy for some!!.. make sure you ask for the toast bred 😉
I dream of the delicious food creations from the genius mind of the chef/owner of Imbibe. The food hits a certain craving spot, the customer service is top notch while being down to earth and personalized, and during the time of Covid I have felt entirely cared for and safe with all their precautions. When it is safe to dine inside again I plan on camping out in a booth and treating myself to alllllllllll the food and drink yums. Also, get the pickles. Always get the pickles.
I ordered takeout. The crunch and texture to the okra was good, however there was way too much salt. The catfish wasn’t super flavorful and on the dry side. I had the crawfish fries and the topping was good, however the fries were too crunchy to go well with the sauce. Oysters were decent. Overall, the food was very heavy, which is perfect if I was drunk or hungover but would not recommend sober. For the quality, I would expect the food to be half of what it cost.
Amazing! Easy to order, quick to pick up and the food was fantastic. My kids loved it too. We will definitely order again!
We got carryout for Thanksgiving. The food was fantastic, online ordering was easy, and curbside pick-up was easy. I look forward to trying food off the regular menu.
Great Cajun food and wonderful place to hang out in normal times.
The Sea BLT is the best salad around! Blackened catfish is my favorite, but I should try the shrimp, oysters, or fried catfish one day. When this keg of Mystery Totoro Lychee & Jasmine Sour is gone, therell be no more. 😕 Love all of those elements, and together? 💫 Happily, my favorite the very dry Gurutzeta Basque Cider is back to stay.Imbibe is a family experience. Owner Mandey Brown is in the kitchen. Her mother Cindy made the dessert Lemon Berry Cake w A Peep On There. And her brother James is behind the bar at Zogs, the outrageous dive bar upstairs. 💙
This place was a good find. The cut out walkup window for carry out is very clever. Very nice staff, wearing masks. Their fried catfish is the best Ive ever had. It came with fresh steak fries with perfect amount of salt and pepper. Didnt see a tip jar.. When this microscopic little Covid f**ker passes Ill be a regular inside.
Always a pleasure at this place! I’ve gotten takeout food and drink multiple times since quarantine. Can not wait for you to open up for dine in - missing your jazz nights!
An absolutely amazing restaurant! Delicious Cajun food, great beer selection, wonderful live local music and a very friendly atmosphere! The menu is unique and fun, with vegetarian options. Not only that, there’s a cool artsy dive bar just above the restaurant. Words can’t adequately describe it, a must place to visit after a delicious meal downstairs.
Literally some of the best fried okra Ive ever had (and Ive had a LOT). Always great food, great drinks, and even better service.
Ive stopped off by this place numerous times now and I can say this is one of my favorite evening spots to go to in downtown. The drink list (both beer and wine) is creative and very reasonable. The drink specials are some of the best in the area. The food is just excellent - the owner makes sure that everything is as authentic and fresh as the area allows. She imports the bread for her poboys, the oysters are always shipped fresh, and all the dishes Ive tried are just fantastic. Lots of great specials here as well! The staff is great too - really personable and fun to talk to. All in all, Im really glad I found this place and I will continue to frequent this place!
We just got a shaved ice for my daughter. They were very nice..
Wow, wow, wow just amazing food! We had a group of about 10 place an order for delivery and everyone ordered something different off of the menu and everyone was OBSESSED with what they ordered! Cant wait to work my way through the menu - I had the Catfish bites, the oysters, and a bite of the crawfish fries and was totally blown away.
Amazing place! Great food and service with yummy vegetarian options. And the fries are crisp to perfection! The ambiance is unique and inviting. Thanks, Mandy! We will definitely be back!
Love this bar. The crab...bisque? Something crab. Goes fantastic with the curly fries is what I remember. Also, live jazz music on Mondays. If youre a swing dancer (I am) youll love some of the tunes they play.
Delicious food, a wonderful wine and beer list, great people. I’ve eaten here many times, always tried new dishes and every time the food is on point! Even during lock down, 10/10 🔥🔥🔥
We had the blackened pork belly poboy and the crawfish curds. He poboy was good but the craw curds was crazy oily. There’s a soupy oil layer at the bottom and oil just oozes out when you bite into the fried curds.
This is a great place to stop by for dinner and drinks. They have an extensive beer selection and great food. Also, the art displayed is unique and shows great range.Update: Blackened catfish Po Boy. Go get one!!!
Loved it, love it, and will continue to love it. The owners knocked it out of the park with this one! Ive only been here for the (free!!) Monday night jazz sessions, but Ive had the chance to try several of their beers and the Stupid Fries while enjoying the sweet tunes. Great atmosphere, inviting staff, and an overall quality product. Looking forward to many more visits!
Live jazz duo drew me in, with Cajun sign out front. Excellent blackened catfish (!) and a glass of red at the bar, with music, made for perfect serendipity dinner. Very good service and atmosphere.
The selection of beers is always interesting and well curated. I also love the various food specials that are put on. Personally Im a fan of the delish and chips. I also like that their are often events with local breweries and wine tastings. Plus the owner seems like a genuinely great person who cares a lot about giving back to the community, happy to support that whenever I can!
Decent Cajun/Creole food. Added advantages of being relatively inexpensive and open late. Yummy red beans and rice and fried fish sandwiches.
Woah! Those soft shell crab po’boys were good, but the fried oysters were stellar!!!
Owner is awesome. She helped me find a cider that I enjoyed.
The muffaletta sandwich is awesome!
I love this place because of Tuesdays. Because Tuesday’s special is $1 beer! Even though the beer taste like iron sometimes, it is $1 beer and generally okay. They also have live music on Tuesdays but I am not a fan of those :) This place made us change our regular meeting day :)
Try the creole crab soup. Abita on tap! Great live jazz! Best bar in the area!
I love Imbibe. The beer selection is unique and even their hot coffee is delicious. It is a great space to catch up with friends but not ideal for doing work because it is dimly lit. Would highly recommend though!
Great falafel
Love!! Imbibe has become a regular spot. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and can craft a mean cocktail. They also have plenty of drafts, and they’re all a little different that the typical Red Oak and Hoppyum picks. But it’s the crab dots and curly fries that I come for. And the gumbo? It’ll make you slap your mama.
Really great food live music!!! And a pool table up top this pleace is the best. Get the food u will be back for sure! Good. Job M
Great atmosphere, great food! Good location.
Great food, especially the fried fish/oysters! Perfectly crispy and perfectly seasoned. They also do awesome blackened catfish. Very happy to have found a place that does fried/blackened fish well around Chapel Hill/Carrboro. They also have a variety of other Cajun inspired dishes. I love the intimate vibe and they have a great beer selection (also bubbles, if like me that’s your thing). There are also very talented resident musicians that play jazz weekly in the evenings. If you’re looking for pool or cocktails you can head upstairs to Zogs, which has a super fun New Orleans dive bar vibe. The staff and management are friendly and helpful if you have any questions or are looking for anything specific either they’ll make it happen or have a good suggestion. It’s a breath of fresh air compared to some of the restaurants that consistently turn over and seem to lack in quality around the Franklin St. area.
Great cajun food & family owned (from Lousisana). Live music and record collection to keep it going on breaks.
They have a varied selection of beer and cider, every time I come here theres something new to try. The kitchen serves up some tasty Cajun influenced bar bites. Theres also live entertainment of various sorts most days of the week
Excellent food amazing drink selection and frequently wonderful entertainment
Had an awesome time . The band was GREAT and the good and atmosphere was fantastic
The absolute best bar food in the triangle. A lot of neat events as well.
Delicious cajun foods!
Eclectic beer and wine list, amazing bar menu featuring authentic muffuletta sandwiches and other New Orleans inspired fare. Free admission for Jazz on Monday/Tuesday evenings
Great food and live music...highly recommend the mango habanero cider ..!!!
Small and a little dark, with great food and really friendly, knowledgeable staff. Very good beer selection.
Great food. Awesome wine and beer selection. Plus everyone know me there.
I love everything Mandy does! Food and vibes are top notch!
Excellent New Orleans food, good beverage selection, lots of arts related activities
Cool atmosphere and $1 beers on Tuesday. What else can I say?
Crab bisque is a delight. Make sure you get some before its gone on Saturday .
Yummy unique bar food, fun events and music.
Good quality food and service !
Excellent gumbo! And jazz music too 😃
Small but some interesting beers
Good beer selection!
Wonderful Cajun offerings ... Yum!!!
Great specials and live jazz on Thursdays! Food a very good, but a little overpriced.
Great food atmosphere
Great Food and loved the Jazz music!!
I liked it a lot.
Absolutely wonderful.
They are the best
