I come to the store frequently and most of the staff is incredibly nice except for Sydney the cashier. Every time Ive ever had to go through her lane, she always has an attitude. One time said hello and didnt get a response just an eye roll. This latest time, the scale on the register wasnt working and after much chagrin, she rudely told us that we would need to check it out ourselves at the self-checkout. She has no business working with customers.
I love ordering online! it makes everything so easy, and the staff always calls to see if there is anything else I need. All around very helpful especially if I dont need to drag my kids into a store.
Its just an OK store. Prices seem high compared to H-T just down the road. Priced on some store brand items are competitive, but there are not many of these. Selection was limited for the things I was looking for. Bread, cheese, eggs. Its a good sized store. They must be selling a lot of stuff that Im not interested in buying. The staff people are very friendly and helpful.
Very nice, bright, clean and not crowded. The staff is very friendly and attentive; always a pleasure making my groceries there.
Only go during the day. The self check out is an impossible and demanding robot lol. But all of the cashiers are super nice and the store has the best produce.
Good store. Normally pretty calm and they have normal grocery store stuff. The entrance set up and where the carts are now is pretty dumb but still a good store.
Not very busy any time I go. Easy to get in and out
This is a wonderful place to shop. Great variety in brands, very reasonable prices. Knowledgeable staff. Birthday cakes are the best. Recommend 100%
Woman at self checkout not very nice.I hope she doesnt get mad when Mcdonalds starts charging her for complimentary dipping sauce that should come with her McNuggets
Very nice, clean, airy store. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Ill go back. 🙂
After renovation, its so much likable. More choices, clean store and very friendly & helpful workers. Especially, I love the in-store coffee shop!
I went specifically to get a plate lunch. The chicken is very good. I loved the spice apples. The other day they had some red potatoes with kale and herbs they were awesome and the only thing that I was disappointed in is they didnt have them today.
Let me start off by saying that I love Lowes foods in general but this particular Lowes foods has absolutely nothing that I like. They do not make macaroni salad in house which is an utter disappointment. And my favorite item which is the house smoked salmon is never available not to mention I can stand at The smokehouse counter for over 10 minutes without receiving service. If you want to go to a Lowes foods with none of the good items go ahead and go.If you want to go to a Lowes foods that actually cares about customers I am forced to drive all the way to Brier Creek in Raleigh which is ridiculous
Shop here if you dont like variety or decent prices OR finding quantity of fresh produce.Actually dont, theres a Harris Teeter a block away.
I shop here for a few items that only Lowes carries. First time shopping at the CH store
Great customer service and convenience! I drove all the way here from Durham in order to pick up a special ice cream flavor that was unavailable at other stores closer to me. After calling around to several places, this location informed me that they had my item and were happy to set it aside for pickup. After making my way to the store, checkout was easy and the ice cream was mine! Would definitely recommend their grocery pickup service to anyone, anytime.
Lowes food is always great, never a complaint no matter which one you go into. Super consistent with food quality and staff are always great.
Remodeled store! Very nice set up. The beer garden is a great addition. Workers are nice and helpful.
Lowers Food Charity Scam ....Tonight I Discovered that Lowes Foods is Scamming Customers that donate to the Cobra Food Bank ( Lowes Foods - 11312 US Hwy 15 501 N, Chapel Hill, NC 27517 )When ever I do my weekly shopping I try to give back to those in need. Tonight when I picked up 4 of their donate to charity bags at $5.00 each, It appears that Lowes is using the charity to sell products that are discontinued and damaged at full price because it is in a bag you typically do not open. When I opened the bags out of curiosity to see what I purchased for the charity ( At Full price ) I found damaged ( dented Cans, discounted items that did not add up to what I paid and overall items that were inappropriate for someone that needs our help.Does Lowes Food really think that someone in need ( Hungry ) needs Greek Salad Dressing, Barbecue Sauce, Steak Sauce, and Marshmallows ? ) I was assuming I was paying for healthy desired food such as Soup or chill and a good health vegetables. ( See Photo ).one of the bags ( which I was charged $5.00 ) was a clearance Item of Apple Cider Dressing and Noodles,Another one of the bags was two cans of Tomatoes and another jar of the discounted Apple Cider Dressing. ( I did not go back and check but there is no way 2 cans of tomatoes and the discounted dressing actually cost the $5.00 I was charged in the name of the Cobra food bank charity. ( See Attached Photos ).If you want to help out charities, DO NOT pick up one of the Charity Bags at Lowes, instead either donate Cash to the charity or pick up items off the shelf and donate them so you know that Lowes is not scamming you and the charity. When I talked to the night manager his response was that discounted items or damaged items are Better than nothing for those people in need. ( even though they were charging me full price. or possibly more that full retail price for the items in the bag ).Please forward to everyone you know who is trying to do what is right. Do not Trust Lowes Foods to put those in need over their corporate profits. At this point I am not even sure at the end of the day that some stores do not just put the items back on the shelf to sell again rather than actually deliver them to the food bank.Because they ring up the donations as Grocery ( see receipt ) I wonder if that is a way to keep from being caught if they are ever audited or questioned about their ethics.Scott MartinChapel Hill, NCImage may contain: food and indoorImage may contain: drink, indoor and foodImage may contain: shoes and indoorImage may contain: textLike
Has what you need for the most part. Only complaint is the high prices on some things.
Good supermarket. Had everything we needed.
The food is very good me and Don Russell Jones stop and get some thing to eat.on our way home from chapel hill.
I love the prices and is very friendly in there nice cozy grocery store really cool
Always a pleasant shopping experience. Friendly, clean, some things I can’t find elsewhere. Good deals on short-date products.
Its amazing to say that Harris Teeter is cheaper but it is. Ok in a pinch of u live close by.
Lowes Foods in Chapel Hill has been one of my main grocery stops for a few years now. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The selection of organics / responsibly produced food has grown over time, and they will accept requests for new products as well. Today I was helped by Chris (I think he is one of the day managers) to find what I needed. Chris - I appreciate the chat and the help!
I am a delivery driver and I got a delivery for this store. I found the staff was very prompt, pleasent, professional. Additional I shopped in the store and it was very well layed out with good prices and great products.
Very nice store ...very clean and stocked. Employee are very friendly and always willing to help!
Helpful, friendly people...non-dairy products (thanks)
The store is clean and has a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Loved this place. We were up there visiting family at this store was right down the street. I think they were remodeling while we were up there. Great Craft beer selection.
Remodeling is done. Looks great. Love that they accept Apple Pay. So convenient to not have to dig in my purse for my wallet.
Prices are probably slightly higher than Harris Teeter, but the shopping experience is so much more pleasant. I rarely have to wait to check out.
I love that I can enjoy a beer while I grocery shop. My wife asks me if I mind going to the grocery store....my answer is not at all honey 😁
Never heard of this store. First time experience was pretty cool. There was some construction going on. It was in the middle of COVID-19. A diverse selection of items. Higher in prices than big-box, but it was nice to experience.
Roblox is a fun game
This is the best grocery store. Its got the nice brands like a Harris Teeter with lower prices. Its also a local grocery with more local produce than a big chain like Harris Teeter. The low aisles feel way less claustrophobic. Their fried chicken is the best fried chicken you can buy. I have had more luck finding uncommon items at Lowes Foods over other grocery stores in the area. I also think the employees are more friendly. We moved 15 minutes further away from this store but I drive past three other grocery stores to shop at Lowes Foods.
I like Lowes for the combination of higher quality items and reasonable prices. This particular location has a wine (and beer ?) bar that is quite popular for a social hangout, though I did not try it. I believe they have specials certain days of the week.On this particular visit they were in the process of rearranging the store which made finding items difficult. The checkout is speedy and usually not crowded. One item I purchased had a coupon and they doubled it. I dont know if this is typical or not but was a pleasant surprise.
Just finished remodeling. Very nice store and more roomy/less crowded than nearby competitors. ABC and mailing stores in same center.
I previously gave this place a bad rating due to a pretty terrible encounter I had with their produce department, but Im happy to say that I had to run in here out of necessity a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. Ive been back since and can say that things have improved A LOT lately. This store is trending up - love shopping here these days - keep it up Lowes Foods!
Love the new look! Also, the wonderful smells throughout the store. Nice upgrade!
Great store. Good product selection. Extremely helpful staff.
Excellent service and super easy to order groceries online!!
I posted a previous review which somehow did not make it in with the rest of the reviews on google. So I will try again. I ordered delivery and paid $9.99 for order delivery from Chapel Hill store. Multiple items they brought were near expired (milk expired within 3 days) and near inedible. I ordered cheese cubes that were soured and dried out and had to throw them away. I understand pickings may be slim during a pandemic, but please dont purposely pick all the oldest foods in your store for your delivery customers just to clear your shelves. Highly disappointed, and Ill be stopping by a different grocery store from now on. Hopefully you post this review.
Not sure why but this lowes foods seems to carry a few items that none of the other stores in the durham/chapel hill area carry. However, old el paso taco sauce has been off the shelfs for quite some time.
When I first moved here this was my favorite store for food shopping. Now, the only reason I go there is to buy one particular item. I dont like being in this store because it always smells like rancid Seafood. I have written to corporate about it and nothing has been done. It has smelled like this for years! I try to avoid going inside when possible because it makes me feel nauseous to have to smell that odor.
The stores redesign, and their concerted effort into new products, has made a major difference!
Great hometown grocery store. Prices are average and the produce and meat departments are stocked well. They have an incredible salad bar and hot bar. Im not a fan of the lowes foods brand frozen vegetables but others may disagree.
Horrible customer service, the young lady actually started yelling in the phone at me trying to tell me nothing was her fault and it was all issues with their delivery provider Shipt. (They dont actually deliver your groceries, Shipt does, and apparently they cant give you any information related to why Shipt drivers are no-shows.) But my inquiry was for a refund and completely unrelated. She then hung up on me over and over and then lied saying we were disconnected. Wouldnt transfer me to any manager and wasnt refunding my money. Terrible service. Go to Whole Foods instead. Groceries are fresher and delivery is free with a Prime account.
Good store with a lot of product choices that are not available everywhere.
The Lowes To Go shopping experience was seamless and enjoyable. I definitely recommend purchasing groceries from Lowes To Go.
Great hot lunch deli.Large lunch counter. Hot paninis,The wine section in the 90s was pretty good. Superior to most supermarket wine sections.
Very friendly and helpful. Great store
I went there because the website says that all employees are wearing face masks while in the store. If wearing a mask means (to about half the employees) wearing it around their necks, masks under their nose, or no mask when the managers back is turned, then hmm, they are doing that.
Its a good store. Ive tried a few others in the area, and found no reason to switch, so this is where I shop most of the time. They have everything I normally need, and I spot new and interesting things now and then.
Lovely produce, friendly staff. Look forward to seeing the remodel completed.
Convenient, good selection, and pours craft beer from tap. You can fill your growlers here! Not a big selection (of beer on tap), but usually something good available.
Good location and product but they arent overly knowledgeable on if they are getting new items in or when. Understandable though as I know how they ship product to grocery stores and never tell you what you get until the day of. The only flaw I have here is the front of the location isnt really making sense. The stuff to buy is near the exit so if you see it when you leave you have to get it and go back through the store to buy it making me not want to waste the time. But that is a minor issue as this store works hard to make their location look good and stay well stocked!
Fantastic personal shopping experience. Dont like to see a retail merchant with workers overtaxed, harried, and barely able to keep up with the work load .Do like to see supportive management, intelligent observant staff seeking customers out to assist them without hovering .A difficult balance to acheive. The Manager and team have achieved what I thought was impossible. Kudos, congrats, and dont change a thing!Im handicapped so use a cart. All product easily accessible. Many stores keep temperature in the achingly chilly range. Lowes is comfortable. Bad with remembering names. Find most of not all your staff friendly and fun!Super kudos to Tina and Dylan. Dylan even troubleshot my self checkout problem and discovered my cart was touching scale. Tina is on the spot all the time and manages to Manage well.Thats rare in a retail setting! The Store Manager is fantastic without drawing attention to self. Look forward to many more pleasant encounters. Thanks
Wondery place to sbop
Open but under construction that is coming along nicely. Peaches today no good.
The best fried chicken- ever!. The store has been updated and it is very inviting to shop here. You can see all the way across the store, the aisles are below average height but it gives the store a welcoming feel. I love the customer service and the store is very clean, great produce and they have the express shopping.
A different kind of grocery store. Lower shelving for easier access. Has a beer den where you can fill your growler with craft brews. Has a lot of local items. Great homemade sausages too.
Lowes Foods never has everything on my shopping list and their prices are routinely the highest of the 3 stores in Chapel Hill Chatham area (Walmart & Teeter). The staff are nice enough but Harris Teeter wins every time with variety, pricing, and shopping experience. Ive lived in this area for 20 years and for the longest time Lowes was the only grocery store but they havent been able to compete well along side the other options or really expand their offerings. I will say they have some good vegan options that neither Teeter nor Walmart have.
Got what I came for and was out.
Employee service was pretty much no where around the day I visited....Only bad visit I have had out of around five times...
Everyone that works there is so nice and helpful
Somehow Lowes has found a way to be a better grocery store than the ubiquitous chain stores without being pretentious or becoming too specialized. Theyve got very good in-store products from their bakery and deli, and theyve got all the brand-name goods too. Recently I visited and underestimated the volume of groceries I found myself needing. One of their floor staff noticed my arms overflowing and brought me a basket. Later, when the basket was overflowing they brought me cart with a big smile on their face.
A NC owned grocery, people are friendly, store is clean and offers a wide variety of foods. Deli features Boars Head meats and cheeses predominantly. Has hot and cold food to go. Their fried chicken is better than any of the chicken places around.
I only buy non food items here. Its expensive and pretty unspectacular...the meat dept is gross and its the worst produce dept in the area...even Food Lion is better for produce if you can beleive that. The beer den is fun...the crowd diverse and interesting to watch...I do like the half price Thursdays and will go there sometimes for that because its close to home.Kudos to Rob in the beer den.
The guy that was working in the deli was AWESOME. They were about to close and he made a special occasion for me, well really for my sick dog!!! He went out of his way and I greatly appreciate it. It was like 9:20 on Thursday night. They care!!!
Really upscaled their selections
Always friendly and have what you need. And fresh food cooked in deli
Always friendly and welcoming service. Clean, neat and organized store
Small produce section but everything is fresh, unlike other nearby grocery stores. A fairly small butchery but also very fresh meat. Beer and wine selection is exceptional and staff is friendly.
Very nice little grocery store. Never crowded, and Lowes is trying to go a little higher end with their deli, meats, and beer selections. They have those race car shopping carts, if your kids need something like that to keep them contented while you shop.
Great selections, good service, top notch!
Clean efficient super well stockef
Im new to the UNC-CH area, but its always interesting to see how supermarkets choose to differ. With a HT right up the block, this Lowes isnt open all night, has a generally higher pricing structure, and much of the layout isnt intuitive. Its a little more like an extravagant CVS, without the pharmacy part. They have some interesting brands and products that I would guess werent found elsewhere and, as always, the milk is the farthest thing from the door.
Love this place. It is an amazing family friendly store! Love the employees.always welling to help out in anything and everything you need .
Such a lovely store. The lay out is vast and with out lots of clutter.
Very nice grocery. Lots of special items, in a very clean environment. Seems to have a fairly good wine selection, and lots of fresh baked bread.
This place is interesting. They have a beer garden where you can buy growlers to take home / rotating tap. The store seems very clean and well put together. Prices seem fair, but more bogo and sales would be nice.
Helpful staff. The Pick and Prep section offers a tasty variety of ready to use produce. The microwavable meals in a bag are good.
This place has the best staff! Always friendly and welcoming. You can buy draft beer by the glass or growler at the Beer Den, and their bottled beer selection is the best of any grocery store in the triangle. They also have excellent personal pizzas, in-house made sausages, deli items and bread.I cant believe theyre not packed. If you want to get mediocre food and wait twenty minutes to pay for it, Walmart is right down the road.
All was great except some of the construction obstacles, but thats temporary.
Helpful friendly staff.
Some decent produce and varieties of food. But the prices are too high unless you really scout a good deal (dont fall for the BOGO before double checking the original price for 1)
First time here, clean and well organized
A great small town grocery store. Easy to find everything
Great meat and produce. Super friendly staff. Half price glasses of beer on Thursday.
I go to this lowes quite often mostly for a single item purchase, beer run etc. The older cashiers are very pleasant to deal with while most of the younger ones are truly horrible and forgettable. I am not quite sure about the management but they seems stuck on when we were the only game in town mode. I am not selective, Ill go to Walmart, Harris Teeter, Publix or Lowes depending on where I get a deal. At any given time Harris Teeters parking lot is full while the one at Lowes food is empty. Ive rarely seen people shopping with carts in this store, just baskets which most likely means that going to Lowes for most people like me is just like making a last-minute milk stop at a gas station.
Love the barnstormer deals. Meat prices are great. Produce is a little high. But I enjoy shopping here.
What amazing customer service here. I was shopping for some IPAs and the lady (Trish) in the beer and wine area was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She took time to give us samples and make recommendations. Im excited for my next visit to Lowes!
A little high on there prices but a very good grocery store
Clean store
