Brian and Liz do amazing work, and are very knowledgeable- they’ve been our go to for my family for the last few years (everything from tuneups, why is my bike making this weird noise, kids bike repairs, etc.), and recently built two beautiful bikes for us - which were just in time for bike the drive!

I went into Cog Cycles for help to fix a broken air tube in my back tire. They were fantastic! They fixed it for me on the spot and the customer service was terrific. Very nice owners that will take care of you!

I’m pretty new to buying bikes but Brian was incredibly helpful and really knew his stuff. I love that he puts new builds onto older frames, I love a good circular recycling system. I really love the bike he recommended for me. He took his time to get to know exactly what I wanted out of the bike. And it’s perfect!!!!! Brian has been building bikes in Chicago long before I moved here in 2012 out of his garage. I am stoked to see he and his partner Liz finally opened Cog Cycles last year. Excellent experience at Cog Cycles. Bicycle problem was fixed quickly and a new chain was installed. I learned a bunch of new things about bikes from Brian and Liz. Brian is like, the master mechanic. This team is nice to deal with and expert at fixing bike problems. Were lucky to have such skill and dedication in our neighborhood. I left a good tip.

Brian and Liz are awesome! Brought my bike in last week for a tuneup and ended up walking out 2 days later with a tuneup, new handlebars, brakes and a saddle for a very reasonable price. My old bike rides like a dream now. Highly recommend!

Great people. Great work. I was a casual rider seeking some bike guidance. On a recommendation from a friend, I dove into a custom rebuild with Brian. He talked me through everything, made the process fun and simple, and I was still delighted by a couple surprise design touches at delivery. Wonderful experience I needed help with a bike inter-tube and while chatting with the owner about how cool the shop was and his passion for bikes he had fixed my inter tube and didn’t even charge me! Cog Cycles is phenominal! I know nothing about bikes, my bike was worthless and un-rideable BUT Brian and Liz did their magic and they fixed my bike & NOW Ill be riding my bike this Chicago summer 24/7!

I have stopped in to Cog Cycles twice now and am not only pleased, but enthusiastically impressed. I needed a full tune up on my bike with new handlebar tape, new chain and new saddle. He did it in one day and gave me a great price. The second time, I was trying to fix the handlebars on one of my bikes and I lost a piece in the bike. I called and asked if he could help me out and he said yes, so I swung over there and he helped be get the piece out of the bike and helped me adjust the handlebars. Great place, highly recommend!

HUGE THANKS to this lovely little bike shop! I stopped in here on my way out for a long ride today and couldn’t be more impressed or pleased with the service! I am very much a novice when it comes to all things bikes and I am constantly worried I have done something wrong with or to my bike. I heard some funny noises when switching gears and stopped in to get a quick check. The guy there was super friendly, understanding and best of all very nice— I didn’t feel intimidated (usually I do in most bike shops) and he assured me nothing was wrong. I will definitely be coming here again for bike servicing.

I live nowhere near a bike shop and when I found out they opened I was thrilled! I needed a quick fix and some new parts and I was so worried it would take more than a day. They fixed everything and in a very short amount of time. The man working was on expert on bikes and the problems were solved. I thought that it would have taken a few days to fix but it just lasted a couple of minutes. I had an excellent experience with Cog Cycles .

Went there for a wheel trueing, this guys are amazing very knowledge and professional. Got the job done on the spot, prices are better the any of those bike shops around Chicago. Highly recommend.

Stoped by with a kinked chain on an old hand me down sterling and Brian was able to throw another chain on, true the back wheel, install a few new spokes, tighten the breaks and install a used rear derailleur. Awesome shop, cool to see an owner & operator who is so genuinely stoked about older bikes instead of just the newest thing out the gate. Extremely knowledgeable & efficient.

I am proud to say I bought a restored bike from him when he was operating out of a garage in Wicker Park (it is a stellar build and is still running well), I recently went to get some aid on my track bike, Brian is the best with bicycles, and this is my new go-to for any cycling needs. I had been riding a much smaller, falling-apart vintage department store bike for a few years and I was ready for an upgrade. I met up with Brian, told him what I was looking for and he built me a custom, beautiful bike from a deadstock frame. The bike has had no issues so far and I’ve ridden it to Indiana and northern Illinois! Plus, every day around the city.Brian is super helpful and definitely my go-to guy for bike questions and help.
