Made a booking for 10 bikes 1 month in advance, had the booking reconfirmed 3 days prior the date by the person in charge, then when we show up on the day, the booth is close and no one is there to help.Try to call them countless time but they never picked up the phone.Very unprofessional !

Broke a chain and needed them to replace it. Very rude, it took them 45 minutes and the new chain installed broke a mile up the path. No idea what they are doing. Would not recommend

I looked at the hours before leaving my apt. Got there after 10am. I waited til 10:30. No sign that anyone was coming . Other came and left. May be you need yo take the hours off if its going to be random.

Supreme service!! Dropped my bike off on a Friday at 4p for some major work (crank, belt, gears, brakes, tune up and more) and they had it all complete, next day, by 1p. Very friendly staff and located perfectly on the bike path. Definitely my new go to spot. Dont waste your time anywhere else!

They did a great job and the communication was amazing. They came and picked up and returned my bike at my home. Because I told them I was hoping to ride it later in the day, they were able to turn it around quickly to get my tune up finished. I needed a few things replaced too as my bike has sat out in the rain a number of times, but it was all a great price and I was incredibly please with how smooth my bike rode after the repairs and tune up. I was even able to ride fast in a lower gear than I normally do. It was amazing and they were super friendly. Would recommend!!

I went to Lakeshore Bike Saturday September 6th 2020. The staff was pleasant and friendly and I was able to get turn around service the day of. I had my bottom bracket replaced. They hooked it up! Convenient location if you are riding on the trail and need some work done.

Whenever I go there I am treated exceptionally well. They always take care of you quickly and charge a fair price.Ive been to other bike shops for repairs and never found them to be as great as Lakeshore Bike.I cant think of a more exceptional small business to do business with.

Great experience overall. Called ahead of time & got a tune up in the same day (Its already 3 pm). When I got there it was already busy but G, the mechanic took care of all the customers quickly and it seemed like everyone had a great experience (made me more confident about the shop). G was great, we talked the whole time he tuned my bike up and answered the onslaught of questions I had for him with enthusiasm. G made the whole experience fun and the tune up I got made my bike ride like butter. I recommend this place 5/5.

These folks are great! Really helped me in a pinch when I had an issue with my bike. Lakeshore Bike came through and fixed it to make sure I wouldnt lose a wonderful bike day.

I chose the mobile tune up and couldnt be happier with the results. Demian was communicative throughout and got my bike back to me the next day. They brought some new life into my old Schwinn. I definitely recommend LSB.

Demian drew me in with his knowledge and customer service. He was very fair with his pricing and beat out every store in the city. He even picked up the bike from my home, tuned it up, added new tires, a waterbottle holder and lock and had it delivered back to my home in 6 hours

If you dont know how to true a wheel with aero spokes, then dont. All I wanted was a new spoke so I can replace the broken one myself. But they started to replace it themselves without asking. Which I was okay with at first because I thought they were gonna do correctly. When I got my wheel back so many of the spokes were twisted because they clearly have never worked with aero spokes before. I had to undo all the damage they did and properly true it myself.

4 for tune up, 0 for customer service. Rude and unprofessional.Went in to get my bike tuned up for a race. I asked the lady if there were any problems with the bike, to which replied no.Right before I left the shop, I wanted the handle raised, so I asked the lady to lift it up for me. When she was tightening it, she and I both realized that one of the screws was not tightening.The bearded man with a hat came over to inspect the bike and said that the stem was damaged and that I would have to replace it unless I wanted to visit the dentist from the handle giving out. I asked why this was not addressed both during the tune up or when I asked if there were any problems. He raised his voice and exclaimed that there was no problems with the tune up because “he” did it. I explained that there was a problem with the tune up because it failed to recognize a faulty part during his safety inspection. Which makes me question if they checked the nuts and bolts during the safety inspection because neither the seat nor the handle bar looked adjusted before I was about to leave.The man continues to taunt me and denying any fault by saying things like, “So what do you really want? Do you want a free stem?”, “This is a cheap bike, it’s the bike’s problem.” Until that point I would’ve just left with a quick fix, but now I was upset at this man’s rude behavior. I asked for a refund because the tune up overlooked a potential safety hazard and because they did not aware me of it. The man scoffed then spoke some words to the lady. She issued me the refund.Upon arriving home, I inspected the bike myself to realize that it wasn’t the stem that was faulty, it was just the metal layer that connected the stem to the handle bar that was faulty. Not only did he misidentify the problem twice, but I would’ve had had to pay even more to buy a new stem from them.I do not recommend this place for a tune up if safety and customer service are your priorities.

These guys were so nice!! I stopped in for just a flat tire and was informed my handle bars were upside down and my front tire was about to fall off... obviously my fault for putting it together wrong! He fixed those things for me for free so I didn’t end up breaking my teeth in traffic when the tire eventually fell off. I will go here for all future tune ups / bike purchases for sure!

The owner, Damien, is a great guy. Ive been going there for many years. The shop is so convenient, and they always take care of me right on the spot with super fast service. Their pricing for products and services is cheaper than any other bike stores Ive been to. They should charge more for the convenience and fast service they provide. Great job!!!!

Bike mechanic and assistant were very helpful and friendly! The mechanic helped my friend fix my bike tire tube and gave us more tips to keep my bike working more efficiently. During my visit, my friend and I also witnessed two other customers doubting their work. It’s absurd because a lady came into complain that her tire that they fixed TWO YEARS ago was flat and if she could get compensated for it and the other customer complained that he got overcharged for them fixing his tires. It’s just crazy how people want to question great quality work because they have to pay for their mistakes. Anyways, Lakeshore Bike made my bike ride on the lakeshore trail an amazing experience!

We rented road bikes here for two days during a recent visit. The bikes were great, staff was very helpful, and the price was very reasonable. Great place to rent and ride along the lake.

I had a flat tire and they fixed it up right away in approximately 10 minutes. Yes some of them did not have the best attitude, but I chalked that up to people being from Chicago. Im from Chicago and even I can have a bad attitude sometimes.

I really dont understand some of these reviews, when they talked about bad customer service. I got good service for my bike, my bike feels like new and they gave me good tips and advice of possibly purchasing a bike that meets my riding style, if Im in the area Im definitely coming here again and again.

The service here is amazing. Normal bike shops tend to charge around 50 or more for a simple tune up and sometimes involves leaving the bike. However, this place is tiny so its often easy to miss. But, the owner is really good and knows his stuff. After renting a bike from them to try out, i decided to buy a road bike here, and they threw in free tune ups for the life of the bike. Everytime I need a tune up or if i have any questions, I just bring the bike over and they take a look at it and fix it up no questions asked, often within a few minutes.

One of the worst customer service experiences in my life. The website said open at 10 on Saturday. Arriving at 10:30, the guy running the place was just opening the place. The only acknowledgement he gave us, carrying bike helmets and wearing bike clothes, was asking us to get out of his way. After watching him unload a couple dozen bikes, which did not compare well to the inventory he lists on his website, I said “Your website says you open at 10.” Now after 11, and still not open, he said “The website’s fine.” And he unapologetically continued to ignore us. Thankfully we found a well run competitor that was friendly, has better bikes for lower fees and more locations. They even include helmets and locks for free. And they are polite and friendly (and live up to what their website says they offer). I strongly recommend avoiding Lakeshore Bike.

Never had my bike fixed here, but every time I’ve talked to anyone at this place, they’re rude. I come out to the lake here and have never had a positive interaction with anyone who works here.Prices are expensive, but if you get a flat near Addison on the lake shore bike path, what can you do? If you need any kind of bike repair, head inland and avoid this place. Be kind to everyone!See extremely rude response from owner since I posted the above rating. Case in point.All of my experiences in bike shops have been with extremely positive and friendly people, except with this one. They’re the absolute worst.

Awful customer service. Dishonest advertising. Aggressive unpleasant owner.Myself and three other family members tried to rent bikes here. The website advertised a 10 am opening time. We arrived at ten thirty, and were immedately asked to step off the public sidewalk because the owner had just arrived to open the shop and said it was going to be a while. We sat and watched the owner pull out every bike in his shop onto the public sidewalk and the grassy area we were standing on while waiting for the shop to open. Around 10:55 we asked how long it was going to be and pointed out his website said the shop opened at 10am, we were told the website is fine and when questioned further the owner snarled let me tell you about my business. This guy would rather be rude to his custemers and let four four-hour rentals walk away than make a small effort to satisfy waiting customers. I also noticed that the bikes the owner was pulling out of his shack were not the bikes he has advertised on his website.

I needed a gear adjustment and wanted to install thinner commuter tires on my 11 year old TREK 820 mountain bike. Went to two other bike shops in the area who quoted me much higher prices and needed me to leave the bike for a few days. Lakeshore bike owner, did the gear adjustment on the spot for a nominal amount. Gave me a couple of options for the tires and replaced them while I waited without charging me tire installation fee. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. Very pleasant staff, great service and fair prices. Ill be coming back here for tune ups and other bike needs. Thank you!

This place is a great place to get your bike taken care of. Check early in the year for the groupon to get a bike tune up for $35. Theyve always been really great about service (though theyll probably be watching some loud obnoxious comedy video while youre waiting to be serviced), and they seem like they rush their tune ups. Make sure you ask questions and check your bike before you go.On the upside, they do guarantee their work for the summer, and I had to go back once and they were super nice about checking the bike out again with not too many questions asked.

I purchased a bike from this shop today. Demian (the owner) and his staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable. They offer great prices on their gear and are not pushy when it comes to sales. It was my second time visiting the shop and each time there were many bikers stopping off the trail to either say hello or to service their bike they had purchased there. The staff was always more than happy to help. I will be returning here for all my bike needs and would recommend it to anyone else looking for a bike or service in Chicago.

Fool with an accent working there was in a hurry. No customer service. Needed assistance with a quick crank nut tightening adjustment but wouldnt help. Closed quickly even though its still daylight on a Saturday. Must be in a hurry heading to a gay bar or something. Also he tried to rip me off with a quote for $500 Sram spindle and bracket.

Great service and flexibility on a bike rental. They provided us with a couple of great road bikes, as well as excellent recommendations for some long rides.

I bought some crappy bike off craigslist with broken gear shifters, rode by this place on my way home and decided to ask about it. They replaced the shifters, rear brakes, handlebar grips, and cables for under $40 and in about 15 minutes.Very upfront about prices and selection, no up-selling BS. Very friendly service and both guys working seemed to be very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Gave three stars not two because maybe I rented on an off day for them. I probably have written two other bad reviews in my life, but for stuff like this, I really rely on reviews when making my choice. First, I said I was going on the trail and they failed to tell me it was closed. OK that’s not reason enough for a bad review, but would have been friendly customer service. But they didn’t give me a bike lock. What the heck? And then when I explained that I was 20 min late because the trail was closed and I got lost, they just laughed and still charged me the extra hour. Also, no bells on the bike, which is an important safety feature if you’re going to bike on the lakefront trail. In conclusion, Bobby’s Bike Rental is much better, better service, better bikes.

I just got my back brakes replaced. came here last season for a quote but was too lazy to get it fixed. i went back yesterday and was quoted about the same price (i had more damage this time around). i feel like i got a great price. the guy fixed it on the spot. also its nice that the lady on the phone made me aware of mobile payments so i didnt bother bringing my wallet. very convenient right along the trail. he fixed it for cheap i almost felt like he was just helping me out vs charging me for a service and parts.

Bought some new pedals online but old ones were stuck and I didn’t have the pedal wrench. Put them on in 2 minutes while I was on the trail for a ride - no wait. I’ll be back!

If you are visiting from somewhere else and are trying to get information on bike paths in the area, dont call them! The first time I called they hung up on me. I called back and they were irritated and directed me to a website that has nothing to do with what I asked for. I sincerely hope they were just having a bad day.

Id give zero stars if it were possible. I rented two bikes for my daughter (with Type 1 diabetes) and myself for the Chicagoland Tour de Cure. When the event was cancelled due to weather, I asked for a refund. I was, of course, denied as I hadnt cancelled within 48 hours. The Tour de Cure was cancelled at 6:00 am the day of the event so it wouldve been very difficult to give 48 hours notice. DO NOT do business here. Im certain there are reputable bike shops in the Chicago area.

I heard these guys had the best service in Chicago, and its true! It was also the best deal I could find after calling around the area. Damian and Chuck took great care of my bike and they definitely know what theyre doing. The bike is better than new.Probably the best service Ive had at any bike shop in the country. I needed work done right away and they were able to set up an appointment the next day. I was able to wait for the bike which was ready in just a few hours. The shops location is the best part, you can hang out at the beach and grab something to eat at the restaurants nearby while you wait for your bike.When living in the suburbs in the past I was hesitant to go here because I thought it would be difficult to park, turns out theyre right next to the parking lot for the golf course. If youre coming from a different area, dont hesitate, its definitely worth the drive.For those new to cycling, these guys were really friendly, as well. I did not feel discriminated against at all just because I didnt show up in that really tight spandex covered in those nascar-like corporate logos that the lance armstrong wannabes usually wear.They also warranty their work for the rest of the season, something that wasnt necessarily available at other shops I called. Great guys, best warranty, best service, best price, probably the best experience you can have at a bike shop!

In preparation for a trip to florida, I brought my bike in for a tune up a couple of months ago. When I got down to florida, I was sadly disappointed to find several problems with my bike. Not only were the brakes not adjusted, but now they squeak loudly, the kickstand was not tightened, and air was not even put in the tires! Was anything done at all?????
