Just moved into the area, was excited that I would have a neighborhood bike shop that I (and my family) can rely on for the next 30 years of my mortgage. Requested to have the bike looked at just to see what work might need to be done.Whilst inspecting, the tech decided to screw in one of my front derailleur limit screws. Then advised that I would need a new chain.Cost would be:Chain: $35Labor: $15Labor on the front derailleur: $15Wait front derailleur - I havent agreed to any work to be done yet? Oh, I can screw it back to where it was.Left immediately and went to Cosmic Bikes Inc. (4641 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60630)Chain: $20Labor: $15They would take a look at the front derailleur for free.Would NOT recommend Edgebrook Cycle.HIGHLY RECOMMEND Cosmic Cycle - just 10 minutes away.

First time visiting the shop. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. They were even able to handle my small repair as I waited. I very much appreciated that. Unfortunately, outside of their control, many parts are scarce due to disruption in manufacturing because of covid. So as good as an experience I had, yours may vary depending on the parts you might need replacing.

These guys are amazing! Very helpful, took care of things we didnt think to check. We will definitely be going back for all of our biking needs.

The staff were really nice and called me to let me know my bikes were repaired they did a good job.

The owner was very helpful when I needed a tail light for my vintage Huffy cruiser. Was able to assemble it on quickly. But I was disappointed when asking him about the bike I am riding and if he sold modern beach cruisers with coaster brakes. He was very sarcastic and putting them down saying those bikes are problematic and he refuses to sell cruisers. My personal opinion is this if you are a bicycle shop owner you should sell all kinds of bicycles. Also I have owned mountain bikes in the past with handbrakes and gear shifters braking on me and cable snapping. Handbrakes are dangerous and do not have friction in inclimate weather. If anyone is looking for a beach cruiser forget coming here. Also any particular bike will be known to be problematic!

While I really liked how informative the staff was and how they were aware of how important it was to take covid seriously, they really failed me when I needed understanding. My partner took my wallet for groceries and I forgot to get it back from her. When I arrived to pick up my bike and realized I didnt have my wallet, I had my wife text an image of my credit card and ID per Edgebrooks instruction.Although it was obviously me on the ID image, and the service rep knew it was my bike (we had a long conversation when I dropped of my unique/rare bike), they would not charge my card. They asked if i could do apple pay, but i dont have that service.They would not take a Paypal payment either (just as secure/verifiable as apple pay). They said it was to protect me and them, so I had to go all the way back to lincoln square to get my wallet.But when I arrived with my card, that has no signature on the back, all they did was charge it. They didnt even look at my ID at all. Now, if having me drive all the way back home was to protect me and them, they wouldve at least taken time to verify it was my card. They did not.An image of my license with my face on it (I brought my face with me so it was obviously me), an image of my CC with my name and CC number, as well as me being able to verify my CC account by logging in to my account on my phone Is way more verification than what they ended up doing!Instead, I ended up being 40 minutes late to work -wages I will definitely be docked - for them to do way less verification to protect both of us!I was really looking forward to using their service in the future, but now I will have to find another shop. Its a shame.

Jimmy and his staff could not be more friendly and responsive. They adjusted the shifter on my mountain bike while I waited and had another wheel repaired (broken spoke) in less than an hour.

Fair, honest, efficient, friendly and now during COVID, theyve basically moved everything customer related outdoors, which is a very nice touch. This is a great shop thats been here under same management for decades. Prices are basically competitive with online, which is pretty shocking given the level of service.

I am months overdue on this but I want to give a big thanks to Chris for helping me with the purchase of my bike. Edgebrook was the second place I visited when I started looking for a bike and it was my last.Chris was kind, informative without being too technical, friendly and patient with me during the purchase process. I have not had a bike in over 10 years and he took the time to find out what I would do now and what I would want to do with a bike in the future. He found me a bike that was inside of my budget but that gave me room to grow.Weve ridden over 50 miles since weve purchased - in between the summer heat - and the ride has been comfortable and fun. About two weeks later I brought my fiance back and she bough a new bike as well.Thank you Chris!

Rude staff, over-priced inventory and they tell you one thing on the phone but another once you arrive in person. A waste of time and money. Avoid this place.

This is a great place to get service! (Even in the middle of Covid-19) I needed a new seat for an older Trek, and the technician came outside with multiple choices for me. He had the new seat installed on my seat post properly and back in my hands very quickly. They also have a charge card reader that they bring right out to you which made the process super simple! The whole process only took about 7 minutes! I highly recommend this shop.

If I could give 0 stars I would! I brought my dahon folding bike to get the brake repaired. The guy who assisted me was so rude, unprofessional, and doesnt know anything about folding bikes. They only checked my bike in less than 3 mins at most. He said that the disc brake is already broken, and they cant get a replacement anymore. I get that since its old. So I asked him if theres a way to replaced it with a v brake (I know there is), he said theres no way they can do it. HE EVEN TOLD ME TO JUST THROW AWAY MY BIKE! I just left, and I went to another place. They were able to repair it. Its not even broken. It was just installed incorrectly.The other shop even confirmed that I can get it replaced with v brake if I want to.

Just stopped in to get a new water bottle cage and water bottle and the service was above and beyond. They pumped up my tires without even asking, were speedy, and had an excellent selection. Great local shop that everyone should try to support, especially during the pandemic!

They were able to change a tire and get my bike up and running in under 30 minutes, even though they were very busy on July 3rd! Great service and very nice people! Highly recommended!!

Brought mountain bike with rear flat tire. Gave me 4 options for tires took bike in side, put on new new tire and tube and brought bike back outside in 4 minutes. Unbelievably quick quality service.

I had an amazing bike buying experience at Edgebrook Cycle. I went in knowing only that I wanted a bike but nothing really beyond that and I left with one that I love. I was helped by Nate who was super knowledgeable and patient. He never rushed me and even encouraged me to try some different styles even after I thought I had narrowed my decision down. Overall excellent experience, staff was attentive to me without ignoring other customers, I will be back soon to buy my wife a bike.

Bike emergency on my sons bike. Popped in the store and repaired by the next day. the guy was very helpful (Dont remember his name) and we later returned to purchase bike for my daughter. Extremely family friendly - lady who rang us up was charming. FYI - they are not opened on Weds. (we went on Weds, originally) but are opened on the weekend.

Chris and co are doing great things here! They are all very knowledgeable and if they aren’t sure about something they ask fellow employees instead of making things up like other shops I have been too. They work hard to make sure that you are completely satisfied with your purchase. I am constantly coming back for anything I need. They’re my go to and it will stay that way for years to come.

While I was initially concerned with the price of the adult tricycle I purchased, I have been more than thrilled with the Miami Sun tricycle for adults. They delivered my bike at no cost to me. The shop folks are very amiable and helpful as I work to maintain the trike for quality riding. I feel free to stop in whenever I have the time to get help with handle bar grips or even a loose seat. They are nice as pie when you are buying something but then their attitude is horrible when you need any type of service. Twice I attempted service here and was met with rude and dismissive behavior. Will not attempt again.

I came in earlier this year to have the bike tuned and tires changed. Along the way, I purchased some safety and repair gear, The repair tech was very helpful, promised and delivered the tuned bike by the end of afternoon and even pointed out that he could replace my old yellow tires replaced with similar new ones. Rode the nearby bike paths for the remainder of Summer. Big thanks.

If your the type who pays more attention to your bicycle than your car, than you need to check this place out. I travel from Des Plaines to come here, and it is totally worth the trip. I run a custom setup, and I was given expert advice on how to repair it. These guys really know their stuff.

The mom and son were so friendly and helpful, I kind of want to hang out with them. Do you think small means limited? Not so. They have a wide variety of product at a wide variety of price points. My son and I were biking through the forest preserve one Sunday morning when I noticed that his gear shifter wasnt working. We biked over to Edgebrook Cycle & Sport and we picked out a gear shifter which they installed right then and there. We were out the door in less than 30 minutes! Great service!

These are some funny reviews ... some of you people are serious drama queens. Ive always had great service here. Im not expecting the employees to treat me like their best friend and Ive never tried to jack the store for some free service. I just expect good work done on my bike and thats what I always get.

We were very happy with the work they did on 2 bikes. We hadnt ridden them in 5+ years and werent sure how much it would cost to get them back in riding condition (or if it was worth it!). They evaluated them, did just what was needed, and the price was a lot less than I thought it would be. And the bikes were ready in a few days! Weve been riding ever since with no issues. I was really pleased with the service and price. Will definitely use you guys (already thinking about upgrading to a new bike for next summer) and have recommended you several times.

Edgebrook cycle has always been a great staple in the community. I would take my bicycle to them as a kid and now do the same with my childrens bikes. My last trip was great. Service was quick and reasonable priced.

Grateful and a great start to the experience, I told him that 3rd gear shift on the left handlebar doesnt work. He said it would be a $5 wire and $10 labor. I then told him about the second bike. Needed a lot of work. One rim was bent, breaks, wires. The bikes are both as good as new. Spent less than I thought i would have to. Great people with great service. everything on time and on budget.

I brought my old bike for a chain replacement and was impressed with how quickly Jim was able to look at the bike, educate me on the different options and repair my bike. I was so happy to finally find a friendly bike shop that while waiting for my road bike to be repaired I purchased a new mountain bike. I have been riding both bikes for a couple weeks now and I can say that Jim really did an amazing job getting all my cables, brakes, gears and chain just right. The owners here go out of their way to take care of their customers. Thank you!

I have always had a great experience and have always dealt with Mary (three kids so many bike issues). My husband has not had the same experience - he would give Edgebrook Cycle one star. He is an avid cyclist and went for a repair beyond his knowledge and found the gentleman (older man) to be rude. With the new bike trail opening we hope this local business reaps some of the bike traffic/business expected to flow into our Uptown community.

I bought a bike there this summer. The price was competitive, the sales experiences pleasant, and follow up service has been great. Lastly, as an Edgebrook resident, the convenience that comes with the location cannot be beat!

Misdiagnosed the issue. Repair didn’t solve the problem. Took my bike to another shop which correctly diagnosed the problem and repaired it for a much lower price. I contacted Edgebrook cycle twice by email to explain their misdiagnosis. Never responded. I will never use this shop again.

The staff and mechanics are extremely rude, especially if you decide to opt out from purchasing their services or products. I understand every business has to make a profit to sustain itself, but supporting your local bike shop at the cost of 45-50% margin is absurd. I wouldnt consider them an LBS given the attitude everyone has. Every single person that works there is relatively arrogant and rude. Read the Yelp reviews too, Im not the only one.

If I can put more than 5 starts I would! I came in with my fixed gear bike (fixie) with two flats and they gave me a pump and they let me pump my bike for free. They are very friendly people and very nice. They said whenever you need air in your tires just walk in and do it whenever. GREAT SERVICE A++

I recently moved back to the northside after being downtown for 7 years having an excellent relationship with my last bike shop. I had high expectations. I made a few calls to a few shops in my area, Edgebrook Cycle being the last one simply because of distance from my house. They were by far the nicest AND most helpful over the phone--so I decided it was worth the extra distance. I was right. They are a wonderful, family owned business who definitely put their customers first. They were overly accommodating, helpful and genuinely good folks from A to Z. They even went out of their way to order a part for me for a brand of bike they dont carry just so I could have it for my current bike. Then I had another issue with my other bike--brought it in on a whim with no appointment and they fixed it on the spot. These guys are my go-to shop from here on out, and if you live on the north/northwest side of the city--you should definitely bring your business to Edgebrook Cycle.

A fine and very professional, and nice, little bike store and re[pair shop, who seem to be able to handle it all. Just off the bike trail going north from Edgebrook, they are very convenient to travelers and the neighborhood.

On Sunday I found myself stranded with a flat tire and no extra tube near the entrance to the North Branch Trail. After an unsuccessfull attempt at patching the tire myself I called a friend for help to find out if there were any bike shops nearby. Turns out I was about four blocks away from Edgebrook Cycle and Sport, but they had closed ten minutes previously. My friend then called them to ask if they would stay open a bit late to help me out. They agreed. Not only did they sell me a new tube 20 minutes after closing time, but they put it on for me, tightened my headset, and sold me a couple of other things that I needed, all for a very reasonable price. I was not only rescued in an emergency, but saved the hassle of changing the tire myself- I was (and am) extremely grateful.

Great full-service bike shop!

Wish I could give negative stars for these scammers. Worst experience ever. If you dont buy your bike with them then they try telling you the bike has fake parts and to replace then with real parts and labor would be upwards of $200. The bike was professionally built in another store, zero issues with the bike and nothing loose. Went in to this store as it is closer to my house and I just bought a new seat with a backrest to be installed. Nope they wont touch anything on the bike unless you let them scam you into fixing it for $200. What a joke. Will never do business with these rude, obnoxious people. I cant think of any other business that denies helping you with one little thing because you wont fix every little thing on the bike when there are ZERO issues. They did indeed make up issues.
