Pretender! A cup of black coffee is the best test have a coffee shop in this place fail miserably. You might as well drink Starbucks. Bitter, sitting in a pump thermos
They suggested this coffee shop to my dad. Its a great place to drink the best coffee in the region, which complements its impressive meals well! The environment is pleasant, and there are a number of courses and drinks on the menu. A must-visit coffee shop indeed! We will certainly come back and recommend to my friends this spot.
The hot chocolate was okay, they dont carry whip cream so youre not getting any for your hot chocolate or anything else.
My wife and I went to this coffee shop today because we had a voucher. Nothing was too much hassle for the staff, who were extremely polite and supportive. The sandwiches, scones, macarons, and brownies were all delicious, and the coffee was strong and hot, just the way we like it. We had the chocolate gateaux packed because we were finished, and the waitress offered to pack up any leftovers. A lovely cafe with lovely staff.
Stopped here on my way to the conference center because it was freezing out and the idea of hot tea was very appealing... I ordered a Calm and Collected, a lavender and green tea latte, listed on their Specialties board. Giving this place 5 stars for its cool hipster low key ambience, thats perfect for laptop-work, studying, or a first coffee date... and 3 stars for specialty tea thats too sweet, made from powders in a jar, and costs $6 before tip and tax... If I ever return for the cool hipster ambiance, Ill try their regular coffee or tea, or a wine (+;
The service was superb! I really felt the warm welcome from the security guard through the whole crews. Amazing ambiance, amazing food, and amazing staff. The food also tastes good and well prepared. Not a crowded place, unlike others. Must visit and recommended. I will surely come back here soon. Keep up the good work always.
I left there about twenty minutes ago. (In the 10 o’clock hour) The man that was working was very polite and nice. I wish I’d gotten his name. He made me a delicious hot chocolate that was the perfect drinking temperature. The place was clean and, had I not been on my way to the train, it was the type of place I could see myself relaxing in for many hours. (Permitting of course) I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others.
The atmosphere and staff are nice but I didnt like much the pastries and felt slightly disappointed. Im expecting a lot since Ive heard it from some of my friends. But coffee is pretty good.
Amazing. The house made pastries are also great. I LOVE this place. Cant wait to come back soon.
Extremely disappointed with the quality of the coffees we ordered here. Just a total letdown all around, from the quality of the espresso to the overall flavor for all of the drinks we ordered.
In the busy city, it was a pleasure to get an excellent sandwich and great coffee. The atmosphere of the café is relaxing and pleasant.
I love this place! Really cozy with great service.
I recommend go to Intelligentsia if you want to have a good coffee in Chicago. If you want to drink delicious coffee with cozy atmosphereI recommend this place. But, this is a story of the past. The employee did not listen to my order till the end, did not ask about the receipt, and eventually gave me the wrong coffee. Of course I kept waiting to get the coffee I ordered at first. My heart was uncomfortable, but the coffee was delicious. I hope this is the only time this is happening. The good cafe is to maintain a steady state and condition. I gave five stars in Yelp, but it is no longer so...
Wow! This is the only expression that I uttered when I went to your coffee shop last night. I like the taste of your mochaccino because it really matched my taste. The ambiance was so nice and relaxing, and it impressed me much. I will surely visit your shop again and again. Cheers for more customers!
Not only are their coffee, teas, and food incredible, but there are also numerous independent artists who come to present their work! The first time I popped in, I fell in love with this adorable café and its employees.
I love this coffee bar! It’s super cute and always gives me a quality latte. Pre-covid it was a nice place to relax and read or study.
I only ever come for coffee and pastries so I cant comment on the wine options. I will say that the staff has always been extraordinarily pleasant and intuitive, and the coffee is good. Perhaps the most attractive feature of Two Zero Three is the unique selection of specialty beverages. Lots of different unique flavor combinations that span beyond the traditional coffee beverages! Also, the environment is fun, music from a collection of records and comfortable seating. This cafe is a nice little gem in downtown Chicago.
Best coffee in the city served here!
By far my favorite locals hangout. Great happy hour, great service, solid selection of wines. The cheese plate is also really good. Romantic yet fun ambiance with good music. The best!
A great finding in the heart of the Loop! This little cafe offers a great selection of coffees and teas in a very cozy environment. You cannot go wrong with their homemade creations. The white chocolate matcha latte with soy milk was the perfect choice to warm me up in a rainy Saturday afternoon!
Coffee was really good, however it is no longer a wine bar; they only sell single serving bottles of wine due to a bar opening upstairs. Not their fault but it was a little disappointing. Cool place overall.
This is a pretty decent coffee shop located in the Virgin hotel. They have a good array of coffee choices and some decent pastries for breakfast or a decent morning snack. The area is pretty comfortable and a good place to hang out or knock out some work. I also noticed they serve wine later in the day, although I did not get to experience that.
The lounge is really chill. Love the music here, the atmosphere is great. A bit loud cause its pretty crowded. But the location is pretty convenient. The service is great. Mocha is a bit too bitter, croissant was a bit too oily for me. Overall, a good workplace Id say.
Its been a few years since i came here. but it was just like it was my last visit. The bar staff consistently great! the wine menu continues to wow! and the they serve foie gras again! love love love. If you want a busy bar with a great atmosphere with a team that knows their wine come here - it wont be disappointing.
This is a great little spot tucked away in the Virgin Hotel. The atmosphere is okay, nothing horribly special, but the day I visited, I sat by the bar seats up front & the AC was blasting waay too strong. I had to put on a sweater (in July). The staff is nice, service quick. They also use paper straws, which is so cute!
Terrible. Not at all up to the Virgin standard of being modern and trendy. The music is depressing, the service is substandard, but.. actually the coffee is pretty good.
This is a great spot for coffee 9-5pm. Never tried their happy hour fare but it has a great vibe for both work and after work.
Says its open, but doors were locked and not a person in sight. Maybe update your hours?
Really cute place!! Hot cocoa was amazing and Im picky about my cocoa so that says a lot! The bar strolls are a bit uncomfortable and like to lean forward but the couches and regular chairs are comfortable Great Service
Very unique coffee shop. Classic options plus modern twists. Nice ambiance. Great option for coffee downtown. Music was a bit loud for my taste.
Nice place to study and spend time in between classes or meeting. But the coffee taste burned and employees dont really care either
I work very close to Two Zero Three, and I stop in to treat myself now and again. I have had a variety of their drinks, and all of them have been stellar. The price point is probably higher than a lot of chain coffee places, but with very good reason. The atmosphere is laid-back, but definitely nice enough to take casual business meetings here.
I am not a coffee aficionado. However, I know a lot about good service and conscientious people. I stopped in this coffee shop for my hit of caffeine, and the people were perfectly nice. Yet, what struck me about these workers was when an older gentleman, speaking hardly any English, was disturbed about something and abruptly walked away. The young woman barista, searched him out in the crowded space, to help him with his problem. That goes beyond “Midwest Nice,” and showed me something real good about this younger generation. Bravo!
This coffee shop is connected to a hotel and is correspondingly upscale. Nice sofas, fast wifi, and a convenient location. It is also quiet, but the coffee was a little more expensive than expected. In the future I would want to try more of their specialty drinks as they look interesting.
Louder and more difficult seating than other nearby options. The bars around the windows are nice solo workstations. Would go elsewhere for a meeting though.
Really cute place!! Hot cocoa was amazing and Im picky about my cocoa so that says a lot! The bar strolls are a bit uncomfortable and like to lean forward but the couches and regular chairs are comfortable.
Terrific morning stop, lots of options. Service very good
Stopped in here because I pass by here everyday for work. It looks really nice. I ordered a hot chocolate and it was pretty good. Could not believe they serve alcohol here too. I can not wait to try their specialty drinks.
Delicious fancy coffee! great indie alternative to chain coffee shops. Complete with somewhat rude staff...hence 4 stars not 5.
Do you want coffee or do you want wine? The best of both worlds! Great chill space
Very tasty coffee (Bowtruss) and friendly service. The pastries are just OK, but everything else is excellent. This is also one of the generally quiet, hidden spots in downtown. Great people watching from the stools along those large windows.
Loved this place. It was very cozy and chic spot to mingle, get work done over coffee or alcoholic drinks while listening to a dj spinning some tunes. It has a very New York like feel to it.
Nice day to night hang with fun coffee and boozy coffee options / nice place to meet or work away from work as long as you can get a seat - definitely a bit snug!
Loved the atmosphere. Coffee was better than youll get most places downtown, but pricey.
Nice quiet spot to prep for a meeting or have an after work cocktail with a friend.
One of my favorite spots. Wish the music was a bit more ..varied but, honest, the place is great: ambiance, comfortable chairs (so rare these days), personable staff, and, only necessairly, the coffee. It packs a serious jolt even for the more caffeine resilient.
Cozy setting for a quick cup of tea. Can also move upstairs to the hotel bar for more seating area. (Unofficially)
Always a cute little corner place to enjoy a warm beverage in a historical building.
Free wifi and plugs near every seat. The coffee is also really good and the vibe is great. Really nice bathrooms. One of my favorite cafes!
The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Coffee and food is always top notch.
Coffee & Atmosphere are great. However service and staffing is lacking. When I visited on 3/17 early morning they were understaffed and barista seemed very frustrated, not complaining just providing a tip :)
What a find! You can almost miss it, walking by. Comfy furniture. Cozy. Friendly. And a great brew!
Great coffee and excellent spot to sit back and get some work done.
Awesome plush hangout with a punch card on Bowtruss brew coffee! (Which is pretty rare here). Comfortable spot that turns into a wine bar at night.
Staff was very friendly. They have a keto coffee that I really enjoyed
I want to like this shop, and I visit it somewhat regularly, but its always cramped and uncomfortable. The espresso drinks are good and the baristas are courteous, if impersonal. There is very little floor space to walk around the furniture and it feels like Im constantly trying to get out of others way. A wide variety of seating is available, and many customers choose to work on laptops during the day or meet a friend here.
Music was loud for reading/writing. The ambiance was cool and my lavender green tea iced latte was doooope!
Decent coffee and comfortable seating. A little small if you want to hang out and do some work. Could be a bit troublesome at peak hours.
Great space, perfect for getting in the zone and cranking out some excellent work. Coffees pretty fantastic, too. 😉
Cool place, limited seating capacity, but they have a good food/coffee selection
I met with a colleague here and had a pot of Jasmine tea. It was nice. There are about 5 or 6 tables and a bar along the external wall.
Great drinks and cozy furniture but a bit small and cramped.
Overall a good cafe with good coffee, wifi, power outlets and ambient music. But I really dislike the bathroom signage that says blokes & birds, its very offensive to the lovely male birds. Seriously, I really hope they change the signage and put more inclusive signage that does not reek of gender stereotypes.
Get a wonderful mocha everytime Im Chicago and i pick up a few bags of beans as well. Nice place for laptop work
Nice place for a cup of tea. Good service, comfortable seating, horrible music over the speaker system.
Only Dark Matter Coffee in Loop! Chicagos rockstar coffee beans with Artist collab. 🤘Only Free Computer Station. ✊ Free Very Fast WiFi. 👏 Counter Charging Stations galore! 🔌As-is Retail products (same price as Dark Matter online & shops). 👍👍How do you like the micro foam? Impressive even in CHI-DER (noun, they say).Superbly clean and organized. When cafe closes, you are directed to Virgin Hotels 2nd Flr Lounge till midnight.❣️ Classy. No abandonment here. 😘😘
Possibly the best tasting espresso one can get in these few blocks. The pull was just so tasty.
Really good coffee! And the service is exceptional: I screwed up the other day and Nino took care of things in my favor, even though it was my fault. Getting our coffee here from now on!
I would not come here. I pay for items and then they just give me what ever they think I got.3 times and I just dont want to correct them. Also why would you give paper cups to people that sit in?
Great coffee, vintage vinyl, and cool vibe. Unfortunately, closes at like 7, but theyll give you a refill to take to the Virgin hotel lobby (which is alright).
Want to get out of the heat/cold? This is a pleasant stop for 20 minutes to have a nice coffee/tea/beer or wine. Tables are communal and not very intimate.
Nice place to grab some coffee and work. Perfect combination of coffee shop and bar.
We stayed studying at the hotel lobby upstairs. Best study/work spot in town.
Coffee is fine (I’ve had worse). Pastries were terrible and overpriced - $4 for a croissant with texture that seemed stale, and odd, sour-ish flavour. Unpleasant. Won’t go again, don’t recommend.
Been here twice and both times the barista was rude and did a terrible job on our coffees. Wanted to like this place but there are too many other great coffee shops in Chicago. Not coming back.
It was very loud. Coffee and food were good.
My favorite place downtown. Its such a beautiful change from the dusty business of the grey streets of the loop! There is Wi-Fi, lots of sunlight, therere outlets everywhere, lots of different options of seating (cool couches and nice chairs both available!), free coffee refills... What else can I ask for?
Love this place. Great view little pricey but friendly staff and more seats in different upstairs section were restrooms are.
This place was my go-to coffee spot summers of 2016-2017, and one of the first cafes to offer nitro coffee. However, its changed a bit since.Ove one year ago (3 stars) ::Now their non-trivial sized nitro coffee almost costs $10 (!!)-- almost twice what it once costs (as well as what remains the going rate). Also the recent furniture change-up made the space less cozy and, consequently, the cafe itself just less noteable.Update (4 stars) ::Staff is friendly, and the prices have become more reasonable. To add, the baked goods are pretty good, and the drip coffee is always on point (Dark Matter beans). The space itself has a great vibe but its still a little more tight than it should be for the modest amount of seats they have.
