Traditional Taiwanese dessert chain, more less the same goodness except for the price. In Taiwan you can get 3 orders with that price but hey we are in the land of feel free to charge whatever, so it is all good. The famous item is definitely the taro, anything taro. You come here for the taro, period. If you order anything else and complain about the quality and/or taste, you are right, and that is because you ordered the wrong thing. If you have never had this before, don’t compare with some other mediocre place you have been. If you complain about the service, you got it, it is China town, not River North, not Gold Coast, bad service and attitude is expected especially when you feel entitled and ask with the wrong attitude, and don’t expect people to care about your reviews when you have less than 100 postings here.
Didn’t like my experience there today. I ordered boba milk tea but boba were all clumped together. I couldn’t even drink the boba through my straw. I told them about it. They said even if they made me a new one, the boba would be the same, and I was like is this how you guys serve the boba usually? Cause it shouldn’t be like this. No apology from them. They made a new milk tea without boba. Also both restroom were out of order…
The cashier charged for add-on items which then refused to refund when they running out these addon, asked us to pick different items instead. Then give us something else totally different! That $12 of everything so wrong taste horrible. It was not their first time of putting wrong expensive add-on items but this time lost a few of their frequent customer
Really like Meet Fresh! Some of my favorites are pineapple black tea, herbal tea, winter melon tea with small taro bubbles, taro balls shaved ice (plenty combinations with red beans, green beans, smashed taro, etc.) Most milk tea/fruit tea options are pretty sweet, so I usually go with no sugar or 25% sugar, but for winter melon tea and pineapple black tea, reducing sugar means reducing flavors, so it’s always a trade-off. Recommend to people who like Taiwanese desserts!
The mochi shaved ice is served at ice cube. Taste very bad.I’m here at April 27th. The only employee at front which is a lady with earbuds in here ear and playing her phone. When I ask her the code for restroom she answered me with very bad attitude and without even looking at me. Very rude and suck employee
The food is good but the service can be improved. I ordered online for curbside pickup but I dont think they really provide curbside service. The small parking lot nearby was full and even the curbside was also full of cars. I tried to call for 3 times to figure out a way for pickup, but it always transferred to voicemail. It seems there is no way to contact them except getting into the restaurant physically. Finally manage to got a spot in the parking lot and got my food.
My boyfriend and I tried and loved this dessert chain when we were traveling in China. We were so excited to learn that they finally opened one in Chicago. We love the Taro Balls and Herbal Jelly. My boyfriends favorite is the Meet Fresh Signature and he orders it every time we go. Although we have not tried every item on the menu, so far the desserts we had were good and unique. I would recommend this to my friends.
The food was really good and tasty. However, the service we received in its entirety was very poor. The bathroom code on the receipt was wrong, the bathrooms were not well taken care of, I had to explain my order (a single boba tea) three times before they got it right, and even then the order was put in wrong and they wanted me to pay to fix their mistake. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
When I miss my hometown, I came here for traditional desserts. Meet Fresh is very delicious, I love their sweet potatoes and taros. Oh that taros ice cream, it’s so rich and delicious. Only thing I concerned is that their service is getting worse and worse. I don’t feel like it’s worthy to spend this amount of the price with the service they offered. I might still give it a try when I’m in town but they should know that more and more similar places coming up in town, they should be aware that they might lose their business if the service is not on point.
Amazing Chinese desserts. Not too sweet and all the wonderful ingredients that you cant find in western desserts (taro balls, grass jelly, mochi, etc.) Presentation is beautiful too.
Yummilicious Taiwanese desserts! The mochi, sweet tofu and shaved ice are specialties here and they bring me back to Taiwan! These are the things that is eaten on the streets of Taiwan and they come in all sorts of flavors. Its especially fantastic in Summer where these sweeties cool you down immediately! Although we are in an never ending winter here in Chicago, these stuff warm me up... actually it is literally warmer than the air outside @_@With all that said, the price is a bit steep though. But beggars cant be choosers!Coming back next time to try the sweet tofu dessert. Hopefully with a warmer temperature!
Worse boba place in Chicago! They do not know what they doing. Ask for a simple order and keep saying that they out of a lot stuff. Dont even put them in the menu if you cant even know how to make it. Such a waste of money. Many places down the road of China Town even more better.
Order Fluffy Winter Melon Tea With Mini Taro Balls you wont regret it. Very clean place and nice staff.
Ordered purple rice porridge & fresh milk. Little purple rice, no porridge at all, just a bottle of milk… for almost $8…
I love Meet Fresh! The tea tastes so fresh and the atmosphere is beautiful. I love all the decorations and I never feel like I’m waiting a long time for my order despite the usual long line whenever we come in. I usually only get a brown sugar milk tea, but next time I’ll try some dessert.
So bad service omg... the new casher have been charged me extra price twice so far and never refunded me. Meet Fresh please send some people who is familiar with your own business and have some nice quality like friendly and respectful? Why would people go there and buy their dessert or drinking anymore? There are so much better and regulated milk tea and dessert places. Please, strengthen the stuff’s training? The workers there are really making my friends and I upset and it’s not about the taste of the product anymore. They basically ask nothing give nothing polite but only that confusing temper to customers...? It was good place I used to like but recent experiences made me don’t want to visit Meet Fresh anymore ewwwww so disappointing 🤢
Uber Eats cancelled my order after the restaurant “prepared” it for an hour and said it was closed. At least have the curtesy to pick up my phone. They need to retrain the branch entirely.
Decent Taiwanese dessert place. This place is a chain from Taiwan. It is new and the decor is modern. It was filled with mostly a younger crowd. We went on a Friday night so it was somewhat busy.We ordered the red bean shaved ice, iced signature herbal jelly, and my friends ordered milk teas. The servings are decently sized. The shaved ice was quite large. I liked the herbal jelly but the shaved ice was lacking in flavor. I dont usually eat super sweet desserts but I thought the shaved ice couldve used some more condensed milk.Overall, I would go again for the herbal jelly and to try the tofu pudding.
A go to place if you are craving Chinese dessert! The grass jelly is the best, flavorful and smooth, the different balls (yam, taro, and others) are ok, can be overcooked. The portion sizes huge, quick service, can order hot or cold.Free parking lot, credit accepted, wait on weekends, season specials.
The food here was good. Unfortunately, the staffs were very rude, especially the manager. She seems annoyed when we tried to order food. She did not even care to announce our order when it was ready. By the way, only female restroom was available at this location. Do not even bother asking for it, they would treat you like you did something wrong. If you want a good experience, try your best to minimize your contacts with the staffs. I will come back again when the roster is updated.
Update: Just went to Meet Fresh this weekend. I think they added some new drinks to the menu. Initially we only ordered our regular signature meet fresh grass jelly, then we found out they have brown sugar milk tea (some stores call this drink “dirty tea”; it has brown sugar along the wall of the cup, boba and milk tea). At Meet Fresh, they have two versions: brown sugar milk tea and brown sugar tea. My verdict is this new drink is delicious. However, I have to say the price is quite high. For this drink, we paid almost $8 including tax.=========My husband’s favorite place to get a dessert whenever we visit Chinatown. The service was used to be very slow when they just opened, but now they are good.... It’s a taiwanese dessert place. They offer hot and cold desserts, plus milk teas & other drinks. Our favorite one is meetfresh signature.Price: $-$$Service: 3starsOverall: Recommended!!
Had the best Asian dessert in town: brought back memories of night markets and the sweet summer nights in Taiwan. The place has become very popular so on a Sunday afternoon it took us about 15 min from waiting in line to tasting the order. The crew was efficient, and, given the wonderful options, the time waiting in line just flew by. The decor was tastefully modern with abundant lighting. The playlist was full of classic Taiwan and Hongkong pop music, which can elicit a sweet sense of nostalgia from those in their 20s and 30s. You can hear people humming along with Jay Chou next to your table.Me and my friends were pleasantly surprised by the quality and authenticity of the food. I ordered 仙草四號 with additional 芝麻湯圓: it came in gratifying serving and the luscious taste was accentuated by the contrasting texture of the beans, jelly, and taro. Unlike the overwhelming sweet taste so common in nowadays desserts, the flavor was moderate, scrumptious, and felt natural to the tongue.
This is probably one of the best dessert shop, and I really recommend you guys to try their herbal jelly number 2 or you can try signature. They are pretty much the same; those two are iced-jelly-milk mix desserts but slightly different toppings. I came here in late night and they can provide you with service until late night still, although I don’t ask you guys to hangout late. Their store decoration is pretty good, and I would like to spend all day here.
I love their almond and tofu puddings. if youre ever with friends and/or family, make sure to get their shaved ice! you get such a big dish for $19
Amazing taste. Good service
-1 Star for bad cashier staff. 4 star for my food.
Definitely having best Asian sweet treats in town, Meet Fresh showed me how the simple yet delectable ingredients could become so much yummy and unique. We had to keep coming back here to discover all of the desserts the restaurant is serving. Since the day we found out about this place, like eight days ago, we were here five times as it was almost irresistible. All of the items that we have tried, from the Herbal Fresh Milk Tea with bubble, or with herbal jelly, fruity QQ Winter Melon Tea, to Taro Ball, Ice Herbal Jelly, and the superb Shaved Ice, which I would doubt if there is a place in the entire Chicago area serving the better one. As advertised by Chinese people, the herbal jelly was created from some types of herbaceous plant, which were very good for health, so that I have had no second thought on whether should I keep visiting here repeatedly. All of the sweetness in their treats came from nature. For example, they are creatively innovating many variants of taro or sweet potato or even barley like dulcified taro ball only to adapt the sweetness of every single ingredient to the dessert as a whole. The shaved ice was flavorful with lots of components such as mochi rice cakes, herbal jelly, boba, a scoop of ice cream and finished with condensed milk or so making it so rich and unstoppable eating. However, the shaved ice was so big as it is impossibly finishable in one sitting by a person alone. What I could genuinely enjoy here was the sweetness of all the desserts, succulent but not overly sweet. Worth 5 stars.
I dunno, my friends said this was the best place for Asian dessert. And the reviews are just white people rating it poorly. So I paid 15$ for a chunk of shaved ice with sugar around it and some milk. I dont know how I feel about that. The ice was a great big chunk in the middle coated with some decent syrup with a scoop of ice cream. I think this justified more than just 1 scoop. Flan, jelly noodles and bean bobas and these little jelly sticks. I dunno. I might not be into this dessert styles when I can be just as happy with some shaved ice and ice cream. The menu is confusing. But that is part for course in Chinatown.
I ordered online so that I wouldnt have to wait. I still had to wait for over 30min, it was to expensive, and they didnt even have boba. Their tea is okay, but I dont plan on returning.
There are various options to choose from.Recommend looking at the menu before visiting to see what you might want to try. The mango shaved ice is popular and with good reason; it is amazing. The clerk medicinal herb shaved ice was popular but didnt try it.Definitely going to be coming here more often.
I usually dont write reviews for restaurants however Meet Fresh is Offering a Promotional Free Black Oolong Tea If You Post A Review On Yelp or Google. Well lets start with the review ! All i can say is that meet fresh has definitely improved from where it was when it first started! and i would have went from a 2.5 star to now posting 4 stars.... but however as you can see i posted 3 stars and that is because they charge .50cents for a small package of Coffee Mate which is ridiculous~ ! definitely recommend to try ! but definitely need some more improving!
Needs some work for the cleanliness of the establishment especially the restroom
Love this authentic Taiwanese dessert shop! Although they ran out of strawberries and mango, we ended up with another awesome dessert...the pudding and mochi milk shaved ice!The free parking lot is a plus. It also might be why this place is always packed, especially after dinner time (even in the winter)!
The only place to get authentic Taiwanese dessert. You can use the Five Stars app to get rewards and occasional promotions like “BOGO 50% off.” However, the employees are never knowledgeable about what promotions are going on. Tables are scarce due to popular demand so service tends to be slow. Would still highly recommend a visit if you love delicious desserts! They are all shareable and I’ve never had one I didn’t like.
Yummy late night stop for desserts. Egg waffles and tofu soup are my go-to. So savory and not overly sweet. The black sesame mochi was quite strange and had a gummy texture like boba.
Poor customer service, waited for 30 minutes and new summer boba shaved ice cream was trash. Never got that order!
Absolutely rude and slow server
This is a sanitary place to eat mochi pudding and drink milk tea. I got their mochi and almond pudding. The best time to visit is between 3 and 4pm. Their mochi and almond pudding with fresh boba is delicious. The place accepts cash and card. Friendly and helpful employees. Definitely reccomend this place for mochi pudding.
The Chinese woman working here must be slow or something. I come here and ask for a mango shaved ice. She says theres no shaved ice today. I go back to look at the menu options and then ended up asking for a mango slush. She says theres no mango today. Then I ask for a melon slush. She says theres no slush today. She could have at least told us that by the way, we dont have the following options today and told us what she DOES have instead of just saying we dont have that today to everything we wanted and not waste our time constantly going back to look at the menu. They also put Apple Pay stickers on their door but dont even accept it so false advertising.
Bad service. Not professional at all
Good drink tasty
The food quality is not as good as the one in Atlanta and the restroom looks like a war zone which makes me question the sanitation of the food there. I’m disappointed.
Yummy yummy yummy, love those taro balls
Asked them to fix the wifi and was ignored. Very unprofessional!!
A mean if youre looking for sweets, its ok, was not impress. Although I was under the impression that I was buying food. Again if youre looking for sweets and other ways to eat dango its fine.
Worst experience ever! ( and this is not the first time!) placed a pick up order have been waiting for 30 mins so went into store to check. Realized they didn’t even make my order yet and it does not look busy at all. Then they just asked me to wait 5 mins to let them finished other customers order then went it to ask for someone else to help which they could have done that when I got there. I was patiently waiting then the person just told me “five mins” not even feel sorry of their mistake! The attitude sucks and so inefficient!
The shaved ice wasnt actually that shaved, it was chunky and pretty much still frozen.
I was never asked for an order. I stood there for 10 minutes while they asked everyone else that got there after me for their orders and then i spoke up. Then, it took 45 minutes for me to sit there before I got asked to wait another 5 minutes because they ran out of condensed milk. Ended up being another 15. I should’ve just walked out, but I really wanted to try. & my shaved ice was melted when I received it. Don’t go.
Typically, the service is great and the drinks always come out refreshing. I have been a frequent customer of the store since its grand opening. We always get fresh herbal tea with herbal jelly as one of our toppings and it would cost us ~$4. This past Saturday night, we came by to order our usual. When we received our order, they were two fresh herbal teas with milk, essentially a different order. We asked them to redo our drinks, but the manager said that what we ordered was not on the menu...but we have been getting it here for a while... and when we left, we checked the menu online and it is CLEARLY on the menu. I just didnt like the fact that the manager was rude and didnt have the appropriate customer service skills for patrons that pay for their drinks/food. We werent begging for a free drink.
We placed several orders here. The services here are really bad, all the customer services provided here are indifferent. One of them placed an wrong order for me and insisted that i was wrong. Although he finally refunded me, he was really rude at me. Really awful services here!!!!!!!
