Wonderfully tasting ice cream! Some interesting flavors besides your usual go-tos. They also sell their own dairy and juice products as well as pints of ice cream and ice cream cakes. Fantastic place. 🙂

Nice little Oberweis store tucked away from the hustle-bustle of Belmont. Great selection of flavors too - you probably wont find all of them in grocery stores.The ice cream is fairly sweet- we got one of the fruity flavors and ended up dumping it. The soft serve, on the other hand, was great.

Ordered an ice cream cake for my husband’s birthday 5 days in advance and showed up to pick it up and they didn’t have the cake. The store manager wasn’t apologetic and didn’t offer to fix the situation. No explanation other than “oh we don’t have it”. Very disappointed and would have appreciated an explanation or apology. What’s the point in ordering and paying days in advance if you don’t have the cake?

This store has some friendly employees! Karen is very perky and upbeat employee. The store manager, DeAngela, greets all the customers from what I observed while waiting in line to order my ice cream. They need a raise for all the work and dedication they put into this store to serve the customers!

There were plenty of options at this ice cream shop for everyone. The Turtle Sundae was scrumptious and a delectable way to end the day after having played beach volleyball for hours.

Workers are VERY nice! One worker wearing a black heart necklace was so incredibly sweet. This was my first time here and I’m definitely coming back.

They don’t treat their staff well. They use the customers tips to pay their employees minimum wage. If you go, dont put money in the tip jar. Hand tips to employees directly so you know they actually get to keep it.

The ice cream we got was excellent and delectable. Even wonderful was the chocolate. This is the best store in our neighborhood.

Great place to relax and enjoy some ice cream. Service could use some improvements, but the ice cream is great. The store was very clean, and the chocolate milk shakes are my absolute favorite. Extra cookies cost extra, but so worth it.

I was told Oberweis has amazing dairy products. After visiting I completely agree. I had the Peanut Butter Sundae which was delicious. I also enjoyed the chess boards on each table, super unique ambiance.

I LOVE, LOVE this Ice Cream!! They make their own. They carry many flavors 23 in quarts... In pints they carry 14 flavors... Im still in their birthday club and I got 1 FREE Scoop of ice cream. But I also bought 1 quart, of a flavor that I want to try. This time I tried their Black Cherry. 😲 OMG, this is a great, sweet and creamy many pieces of fresh dark cherries in every bite. This is what I choose as my Birthday treat. Last year I ended up getting Espresso Caramel Chip in a quart and a shake in the same flavor and 1 FREE Scoop of Cookies-n-Cream. I have been a fan of this company since they were in Aurora, IL. This is the best ice cream in my eyes. In the Chicagoland. Be sure to sign up for the Birthday Rewards. I have. This is a nice place to sit inside or outside enjoying ice cream. They have tables to play board games &The CHECKER BOARD is painted on the tables to play Checkers.

Ill return with my relatives. The bill was fair for the quality of food. They have a lot of great reviews for a reason.

One of my Top 3 ice cream spots to visit.

This is an edit to my previous review- I had some issues with not getting comped for my returned bottles but the manager of the store, Adam, got back to me immediately and helped resolve the problem and was very nice/helpful.As for the product, it is very good quality delicious milk and almost zero waste with the glass bottles. The main thing for our family was a need to cut back on plastic waste and Oberweis is the only company offering local milk in the old fashioned glass bottles. In addition, they have probably the best malts in the entire city. The chocolate malt especially is our favorite. My only advice is to make sure you directly talk to an employee and make sure you get your cash before setting you bottle-returns down by the door because otherwise theres a good chance whoever is working there wont go out of their way to give you your money back.

Terrible service at 6pm on 7/25/21. Eight people waiting for their ice cream. 6 staff and only one actually working on the orders, the rest were cleaning and stocking. 15 minutes to get two cones? Terrible!

I want to add to this post: Adam below said to reach out so he could hear more and help-- I have now emailed him 3 times and he has yet to respond.I went to Oberweis this weekend. I went into the store and a family of 6 was in front of me. The lines were a little confusing because on the right- it made it seem like the line was for the freezer section. There were also circles on the floor throughout. It was only the family of 6 and then myself in the store. The family ahead of me was taking a lot of room (which is totally fine), so I stood on a circle to the left and back of them while they ordered and got their food which took about 5-7 minutes. During this time, another larger family (4 people with kids), walked in and saw me. I guess they went to the left dots (near the freezer), I thought it was because the other family was in the middle and I was to the right- this made sense given the time of social distancing. Anyways... the family in front of me finishes, and I walk up to the register. The women at the register SCREAMS (not talks, not polite) at me that I was not in line and it is not my turn. The family of 4 who came in after me did not have an issue with this, as they saw I was there first and did no oppose. There are no dots that say- Wait here, next in line, etc. I chose a spot that was socially distant from kids running around, that was also as close as possible to the front of the line- as any normal, sane, person has. I should also mention I hadnt been to this store during covid times, so I was not aware of the process because to be honest, the dots on the floor and the order/organization isnt super obvious (which is fine if the staff are normal and accommodating). I turn to the family behind me to make sure it is okay I order, they say- yes, please order. I order my food. The rude cashier than yells at me 2 more times to tell me how I did not wait in the right place and it was not acceptable. Okay- GREAT, I get it. If there was a next time (which there will certainly not be) I know where to wait. I then pay, get my ice cream AND AGAIN, she made a rude comment in an unacceptable tone, telling me how I need to learn where to stand in the future. I could not believe that after the first conversation, which I was polite, and said, oh thank you for letting me know- i appreciate it and was trying to social distance, that she continued to bring this up and yell at me. I have never been treated this way, especially given the world we live in, it is unacceptable. I will not be returning to Oberweis and I suggest that management looks into the staff they hire.

Friendly and they have a book that specifies which ice cream is not made with gluten. I dont know if the factory has separate areas to make gluten free ice cream. So cross contamination may be a possibility.

The milkshake was second to none

This was a good stop for us to cool our tongues after having hot wings for lunch. The addition of chess boards at some of the tables made it a fun, as well as tasty stop.

The ice cream was great tasted very good I have never tasted a ice cream this good I even bought a milk to go with me.

Apparently management does not know how to run this place. Simple order took over ten mins while being skipped by other orders. I was second costumer in line while the first was already waiting over 10 plus mins for his order. After asking the gentleman behind the counter who lacks serious costumer services if “he was skipping me?” After the fact that over 5 people have received their order he disrespectfully yelled at me and continued to be rude in front of other costumers who were just as shock. Three employees in the ice cream shop. One lady in the register who apparently, I learned later was the manager. (Which by the way didn’t step in or did anything to handle the situation) A young lady who actually stepped in to make sure I had my order and tried to stop the rude male employee from continuing his rudely comments. I was super appalled by the experience. Customer service and time production is very important and unfortunately this employee lacks on it tremendously. It shouldn’t take 3 employees over 10 plus mins to scoop one scoop of ice cream on a waffle bowl.

Ice cream quality is good this guys managed to position on a high standard for ice cream, we know the product is good. What is left is how you get it, how is the service.In terms of customer service and satisfaction these guys need training ASAP! The waiting time for you to get an order is about 20-25 min, for an ice cream not joking.We order one ice cream regular on a scone and one milkshake, no adds on or anything straight from the menu and we have to wait about half an hour on a regular day ( not the busiest time) and when we got out order they had make a mistake on the scone (different flavor) after waiting so much time we didnt want to have to wait more so we took it. Completely disaster the scone was melting before we could get to the door. If I had to choose between get ice cream here or at the 7 eleven down the block Id rather go to the 7 eleven.

I love this! The milk is fantastic and I love that it’s in glass bottles so no plastic waste! We do the weekly and it’s perfect and so easy to customize.

We ordered individual ice cream scoops from here for our wedding, and it was one of the best parts of the wedding day! Oberweis made this so easy and fun for our guests. The package came with tons of toppings, unlimited ice cream flavors and way more spoons and napkins than we needed. Would recommend for another event!

Do I even need to review this place? The ice cream here is fantastic. The staff is excellent at this location. I’m sure they deal with a ton of BS.I often find myself here after 10pm, because nothing else is open! My favorite flavor is cookie dough, but honestly most are excellent.Pro-tip: I recommend the kids scoop because they give you sooo much!Come here!!

Been here many times and they never fail to impress with the drinks and ice cream! The games and chess tables are extremely nifty and cute! Lovely ambiance! My only criticism of this place is that the smell is terrible, and there is mold underneath the chess pieces. Very unappetizing and unappealing.

Oberweis Ice Cream has always been a favorite of my familys. But all of their dairy products are amazing. And their recycling program is fantastic. Also, as someone with a nut allergy, Im always wary about ice cream shops. But they will clean the blender, scoop and more for you if you request it. Even open a new container for you. I appreciate someplace that will go above and beyond for their customers.

Great quality ice cream!We had stopped by the day after thanksgiving as the family was all craving ice cream. I did a single mint chip on a cone. While I loved the creamy, milky consistency throughout Ill say it wasnt as minty as a Baskin Robbins mint chip that I do love. My wife tried a traditional sundae which she enjoyed. You cant but help taste the difference in the quality of ingredients used. We ended up taking home some quarts to go, and since it was black friday we scored them for 2 for 1 deal.Overall, Id say it definitely feels like a good old fashioned ice cream shop and great to bring the kids along. Im sure this place is crowded in the summer time.Til next time!

Not probably customer service and very rude to the customer specially the guys who is in charge

I got birthday cake ice cream and it was fairly average. The atmosphere of this location is very cute, though. You can play chess on the tables and the ice cream is served in cute parfait glasses.The management, however, was rude. They were understaffed, which is fine. I understand it happens, and it seems all the other customers were patient and waiting. The manager came out and was very sassy in telling the customers to not yell at her employees. Nobody was yelling or upset so I found her behavior off-putting.Regardless, the experience is still pleasant, but there are likely better places to get ice cream.

Best straight forward ice cream there is. The shake is the best, period. Maybe Chicago Diner competes. The milk is to moo for.

Great service and product, good service

I dont always eat ice cream, but when I do; I eat Oberweis. Seriously though, this is the best ice cream in the city.

They make and serve very good ice cream - you will not be disappointed in that aspect. But the place itself looked tired and not well cared for. The tables were sticky and needed to be wiped. The chairs look worn. The floor could have used a sweep and a mop. Maybe we caught them at a bad time after a huge rush, but 2 stars for the sitting area.

I loved the attitude of the lady that was working as a cashier, I can’t remember her name, but she had a tattoo, made my experience in there good.

This is the real deal in Chicago as far as ice cream goes. Creamy, rich and flavorful. Why are they always busy..excellent value and price, $6 for a small shake, which in reality is humongous. They dont compromise on taste. Its caloric but worth it on special occasions.

What should have been a quick stop into Oberweis turned into a frustrating experience. We ordered two small milkshakes. Ten minutes go by, and we are still waiting. We have seen numerous people who came in after us receive their order. There is not one, not two, not three, but four workers besides the cashier making the ice cream. How hard is it for one person to throw ice cream into a blender?We have now been waiting fifteen minutes, and we still haven’t received our shakes. I inform the cashier, who then after checking, returns and informs us that they lost our ticket, that they will start making our shakes now, and that it should be about five more minutes. So I’m expected to wait another five minutes, for a total of twenty, and pay full price? I don’t think so.The cashier says we can either have our milkshakes made or we can receive a refund, but not both. What a joke. I ask for the refund. While refunding me, I inform her that another couple has been waiting even longer than we have and they might want to check on them. The cashier responds by telling me I’m being rude with her. What?! Meanwhile, the manager is right beside her, witnessing and hearing everything and does NOTHING!That is not how you run a business or retain customers—I will never return.

Excellent service and delicious ice cream. Staff made suggestions and asked questions to find the perfect thing on the menu for you -- and if not, offered customizations. The store was clean and well maintained.

The ice cream is fantastic, as with any Oberweis, however we waited over 30 minutes for one ice cream. It was not overly full, there were quite a few people inside waiting though. I have waited much less in much more crowded ice cream shoppes. If you dont mind waiting definitely go.

Who runs out of bananas to make a banana split? Literally the worlds smallest Scoops at this facility. Might as well be using baby spoons to measure out the scoops. Many ice cream places in Chicago will not be revisiting this location anytime soon. #stingy
