I have been doing business with cash america pawn in chicago for several years now. Originally at the broadway and sheridan location and most recently at the store on lawrence near kimball. Both stores are highly professional, well staffed, and well run. They carry a wide range of merchandise at fair and accurate market value prices and the stores are clean and well organised. As far as things Ive pawned with them, i can honestly say that Ive never been low balled or hustled, bottom line they dont see you coming and try to fleece you, which is something i cant say for other pawn shops that i have dealt with in the past. In particular, id like to give a shout out to Ed and his crew at the lawrence location, i had just moved to albany park when the pandemic hit and found myself, like a lot of folks, economically impacted and strapped for cash. Ive had to pawn various things from a low end pair of head phones to a 4k tv and I have always been greeted with a smile, a kind word, a fair shake and respect out the door. In these surreal and very stressful times that goes a long way. Thanks guys.

Been here many times and they are usually nice. I have been burned 3 times among many great deals. Once got a guitar that had paper shimmed in the neck pocket because it was so warped that was the only way to make it playable. Got an amp with a bad power supply so they stuffed an oversized fuse to let it play a little longer until it blew transistors. Got a wii u that only needed a charging cable but it didnt turn on at all. Today was the icing on the cake. I seek cockroaches coming out of a rack of audio gear and I tried to discreetly mouth to the lady and she said one second then she kept talking about whatever and ignored it so I told her that there were cockroaches and she gives me a what do you want me to do look and blows it off. Disgusting. Will never bring items from this roach motel to my home again.

I wish I can give them zero stars ... They disappointed me, as a loyal customer. I have gotten loans as well as purchased . All I wanted in return is to be treated like a valued customer (no red carpet) just a little respect. The location near LawRENCE and SPAULdIng Is in apoverty stricken area that I live in I already feel humiliated by having to pawn my valuables to make ends meet and the staff their makes people feel like CRAP when they know they have you hooked the respect And basic customer service goes out the window . You would think they would have a more diplomatic approach on how they speak/treat their customers. They need customers to run a business but their culture is that we as a people need them so There is a one sided relationship according to them customer service isnt of value . Basic customer service skills will go far in that place. One time I tried to negotiate on an item and the guy told me no negotiations ever and I try to bargain with him he told me take my money somewhere else . One time they ruined a necklace of mine that I got a loan on . So be WEARY of what you leave sometimes it better to just bite the bullet keep ur valuables and get the money another way especially if an item is of significant meaning. I gave multiple chances as I like to buy things ... BUT this time was unforgivable .... I complained to the district manager CHRiS about one of his employees ADAM behavior and the guy said I filled his ears with a lot of noise and he his not going to do anything about Adams lack of respect for. me as a customer well the DM eventually hung up on me.. immediately I went to the store I had a loan item with them and an item I placed on lawaway .... I decided to just pick up my items and be done with them.... (plus I got a new job extra money and decided I am done being treated like poor scum by the staff there) after I paid for my loan item I was told the DM CHRIS banned me from the store . What???? Never was I rude or disrespectful I simply made a valid complaint now Im banned ?????? So I paid for my item in loan ... and I went to pay for a diamond necklace that I wanted so bad $500.00 I was gonna fork up like a dummy until I got a REVELATION and decided I am a value person and what the heck was I thinking still willing to pay $500 after I was talked to like straight crap and banned??? If you are old school like me and value self respect and customer service stay away!!! If you have an item that is of significant meaning dont leave it with them because like my item it will be RUINED ..oh and no NEGITIATIONs what pawn shop does that??? ... if u are a shopper like me stay AWAY!!!!

Staff is friendly, store is clean and has a wide selection. Went in for a Nikon DSLR and came out with an Apple Pencil and electric wine opener. Ed took care of me and I will be going back on the regular.
