Wacky outrageous decor, funky music on the radio and staff members that love putting joy in people’s hearts! It’s the kind of place you would have seen on PBS’ Wild Chicago back in day. How’s the ice cream? Well Ice Cream Shoppe is renowned for quality in the Midwest and these guys have by far the largest selection. Over 40 flavors to choose from at any one time. Importantly they carry a lot of DAIRY ALTERNATIVE options. I love the soy vanilla chocolate chip. They also make some of the most decadent brownies I’ve ever had. Nobody is left out of the fun! Also amazeballs is that they hand out ice water to customers to go with their deserts. Get over here, escape from it all and SMILE!

Some very interesting artwork. Very Orwellian. Then theres mannequins in the window dressed as politicians dancing in a flurry of money. And the ice cream is good too!

Loved it! I got “Caramel Chaos” which is caramel ice cream with chocolate caramel cups throughout. I also got “Zoreo”, which is an oreo ice cream with zanzibar chocolate and marshmallow swirls. The ice cream was a little expensive, but it also was super high quality and decadent! They also offer amazing cones and other sweets like brownies, cakes and cookies! The theme of this place always changes and I’m always exited to come back and see what’s new!

The best about this place is the staff, every time I go over there they guy that works there offer us free samples of chocolate or brownies, when we are eating our ice cream he just get to our table without asking and bring us some water and ask in a really kind way hows everything! The ice cream is so excellent and they always put a really nice decoration

Perfect find. We were driving until we came upon an open ice cream shop (that was actually the plan), and so glad we found this one. Great selection of flavors, the variety of coated waffle cones was amazing. And the service was above and beyond! The decor was fun too!

I have always loved this place! It feels like an old time, small town ice cream store, but still in the Chicago city limits. So many flavors, all so tasty. Incredibly friendly staff. Innovative and fun decorations. Keep in mind it is cash only.

Love this ice cream shop! Clearly it’s been awhile since we were there as I forgot they cash only! Good news...don’t fret if you show up empty handed like I did, they have an ATM right by front door! Their decor inside can’t be beat and ice cream was delicious! They have a huge selection of hand dipped cones as well. And if Fido is with you, he will love their vanilla soft serve! And finally, it wouldn’t be five stars without the amazing staff!! So friendly and so nice, was a great trip today!

If you want a unique ice cream experience THIS is the place to go to! The service is amazing - they let you try every flavor you want, they offer you baked goodies when you walk in and then to top it off they bring you a fresh cup of ice water to enjoy after your ice cream! Amazing! The ice cream flavors and names are super fun and unique, and the ice cream tastes awesome. I could go on and on... definitely going back.

This is the best ice cream I have ever had. So fresh and flavorful. There are plenty of choices for ice cream flavors. There is definitely  something for everyone. My daughter has an extream dairy allergy is able to enjoy the dairy free ice cream and this was the reason we picked  this shop. Plus there are just so many different types of ice cream cones. Its perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth. They are so friendly and accommodating. While in line we were greeted and they brought  out samples and water. One of the best little nooks in the city.

Ice cream is so-so… not what it was cracked up to be… price was higher than other good chains like Oberweis… atmosphere was interesting! But sitting on nice lounge chairs on the sidewalk was a decent experience… can’t give them all five stars, sorry!

Im in love!!! Its so difficult to find vegan ice cream in an ice cream parlor and this place truly delivers. Fantastic choices and yes, I said choices!! At least 4-5 different flavors which are soy based. Very flavorful and delicious. Cash only store!! Might want to change that though. Seriously, who on earth has cash on hand anymore?? This ice cream shop is super creepy in a good way and the ice cream was creamy and delicious. The dude running the place was very cool and gave us brownies to taste while we waited. It was a great surprise to find after taking in the Sauganash Christmas lights. Dont miss it!

Stopped by for ice cream with family. Employees are friendly and helpful as my son wanted to try a couple of flavors. Ice cream and cones are amazing, and they have a large variety. Love the vibe at this place. They currently have like a haloween covid theme which is cool and my son loved it.

I used to bring my son here when he was in preschool. Hes 18 now and we live in Texas. Had to come by. OMG they have chocolate covered cookie bowls and amazing brownies. The ice cream is amazing. I liked the Exhausted Parent and the Raspberry chocolate, I dont remember the name but it was delicious🍦🍨🍧🍪🍰

They go all out in the decore and always have exceptional service.Tyson was awesome and runs the place amazingly well! Great service! They were friendly and gave us several ice cream samples. The Rocky Road was excellent, but the decorations in the store (left over from Halloween) were even better--really inventive and well done. This is one of the best ice cream shops in Chicago, they do it right.

Great experience! Two friends and I stopped by for a late night indulgence. We were met with amazing customer service, spectacular decor, and delicious ice cream. Their waffle bowls are legendary, and the samples flow freely.Tyson was the counter staff, and he was perfect. Great customer service, incredibly dedicated to helping us find the flavor we want. Must have eaten 9 or 10 samples without barely asking! I would mention to my friend wow ____ sounds amazing! And before I could even ask for a sample, he would hand me a sample of the flavor I was curious of.Prices were more than your local dairy Queen, but the quality and selection of product more than justifies the price difference. Forget dairy Queen, this place is the cats pajamas.Highly recommend to anyone in the area, local, or visiting from out of town like myself. Winter or summer check it out.

Its hit or miss for me. Ice cream options sound good, until you taste it. Lemon Italian ice consistency was TER-RI-BLE. Almost like it got over whipped and became a slimy gooey corn syrupy something. Threw the whole scoop away. Pomegranate ice cream....was okay. I didnt taste any pomegranate and I also thought it was a sorbet, but realized after tasting that it was ice cream. Probably wouldve tasted better if it was a sorbet. Pricey too.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!!! Not only is their ice cream DELICIOUS, the service is amazing! I’ve never been to an ice cream shop thinking I would be blown away by how nice the staff is! Charlotte was the only one working, and upon arriving, she offered my husband and I a sample of a cone. It was really good! (Orange and vanilla soft serve) I didn’t realize the place was cash only and after ordering, I was 11 cents short. Charlotte said this gives you a reason to come back again and you can pay the rest next time! My husband and I were so happy and grateful. We sat outside to enjoy the weather and eat ice cream. While we sat outside, Charlotte came out and said ice cream makes you thirsty and handed us 2 glasses of water! I was just amazed. One thing after another, the atmosphere the service, the ice cream- everything was so good. This is my new go to place!!! Do yourself a favor, and check this place out!!!! There’s so many varieties (dairy free/ etc) of ice cream and flavors. They do have an ATM if you don’t have cash, but definitely worth going to! Support a local business!

The ambience is great, but the ice cream is exactly what I like. This place is cash only (but has an atm). It is busy on warm days (go figure) so just know that the wait is worth it.

AMAZING on soooo many levels! Not only is the ice cream absolutely delicious (I think I sampled 5 different flavors), but the employees are complete sweet hearts. My husband and I biked here and while we were eating our ice cream cones outside, one of the employees brought us glasses of water without us even asking. Super friendly, great music playing, delicious ice cream, and cool colorful shop! Would recommend to all of my family & friends.

This place was trippy, in an awesome way! All decked out for Halloween (including staff), when we started looking at ice cream flavors, the young man begins the counter just silently started handing us ice cream taster after taster. It was all delicious. Unique flavours, fun toppings and coated cones, old school ice cream parlor overlaid with modern surrealism. Generous helpings too!

The decor is fun and unique! The ice cream is scrumptious! We were greeted immediately and presented with a variety of little samples. They even asked about allergies to make sure that was covered! This place is so trippie cool. I compared it to a basking robins on mushrooms. Its a must try!Yesterday we were on our way to another ice cream shop when we saw this corner. When we made it to the place we were going, we actually turned back to go in here.The decorations are super different unlike any other icecream spot I have visited.The girl server on the pm shift that evening, offered us samples and a mini cupcake. She let us sample the ice creams without asking that was a nice touch.Once we had our desserts and ate them, she came around with waters and I was simply amazed by this place. Will be back!

Best Sundea Ive ever had on a Saturday evening.

They have absolutely the best burgers in the industry in my opinion, nothing beats ever fresh never frozen beef.

This place is always so yummy! Ice cream flavors are unique, creamy, and full of flavor! The inside is always decorated so cute and with a cool theme! The colors are always awesome and its so fun to go in here and see what the new theme is and how the shop is decorated. I came here tonight with my sister and we got the Fat Elvis flavor and Peanut Butter Hearts Chocolate flavor ice cream and it did not disappoint. The employees were super friendly to us and handed out plenty of samples for customers to try - samples are always a plus! An employee came around too with cups of ice water for all of the customers. Staff is great here and treats their customers great! Overall we love this place; it is definitely a very unique and tasty ice cream shop that is different than your standard, cookie cutter place. I highly recommend this place to everyone for a tasty treat!

There are so many different flavor varieties, even a lot of soy options. The inside is a cool fun club like atmosphere. My kids loved it, great spot. The staff was also incredibly friendly and hospitable. Ice cream is on the pricier side but totally worth it, it’s really delicious. Would definitely come back again.
