Lickety Split Frozen Custard has the best frozen treats in the area. The store also sells vintage candy and sodas. At this most recent visit, I had the crazy cake concrete mixer (custard blended with the cupcake of your choice topped with sprinkle). The mixer was amazingly delicious! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a treat. 🧁

Lickity Split has some awesome custard and an amazing selection of different candies, most of them being pretty retro. I very much enjoyed browsing and having some hard to find specifics.The custard is delicious and well made, although your selection is relatively limited with only a vanilla, chocolate, and then a rotating flavor of the day.Although, your choices within those flavors are varied. Shakes, Malts, sundaes, and all sorts of delicious things. And the prices are right about where youd expect. A great date spot.No burrito. It is what it is.

Cute place, was filling up fast on a Saturday night around 10pm. We had the pumpkin and vanilla custards. They had a very satisfying creamy consistency, but honestly the vanilla tasted very weak, was barely in there and it felt like I was just having something sugary. The pumpkin tasted flat, lacked any depth to it and also, all I tasted was the sugar and some pumpkin spice. They have a cute collection of mints though which Ive never seen elsewhere, might have been worth pushing out review to a 4* but we went there for the custards.

A hidden gem! I was in the city and in the mood for icecream. I didnt want to go to a typical chain restaurant so Im glad I found this more locally-owned place! The ambience is so nostalgic since it resembles a candy store from the 50s. I loved the vibe and the employees were all really nice. The custard is absolutely to die for! I loved my mixer which featured their famous peanut butter. I can see why they call it famous, it truly is one of the best peanut butter Ive ever tasted. The icecream had the perfect amount of thickness and flavor. The toppings were fresh and well distributed. I highly recommend coming here! Its a super sweet family place with something everyone will like.

You must be an absolutely terrible person to rate this place fewer than 5 stars. I love taking my friends and family here. Even if they dont eat ice cream, theres plenty of other desserts, both baked and packaged (candies, chocolates, etc.). Lickity Split has an old-fashioned candy store experience and has many hard-to-find and classic candies, even various flavors of Pocky. I do recommend grabbing extra napkins because the ice cream melts very, very fast during the summer.

The custard was ok, but not good enough to override the more negative aspects of my experience. From what I saw, the sanitary standards were very poor. Only one employee was using gloves. The employees act very immature/unprofessional.

Come here all the time. The place stays busy, so plan accordingly. They have a rotating flavor of the month and concrete of the month, so there are always new options. Tons of topping selections, so you can always try something new. They also have a lot of soda options and a wide variety of old school candy if youre looking for something different.

The custard is off the wall good. I haven’t had a chance to try much else but their craft soda collection is amazing and they’re super speedy, which is great because the line goes out the door at times. They’re just a great place to have in the neighborhood.

My granddaughter treated us to a treat here. We had a turtle and it was luscious. It had a generous amount of custard ice cream and plenty of Carmel and hot fudge. Plus the nuts they put on it topped it off with enough to have with all the other ingredients.

Lickity Split serves up an amazing chocolate malt. I personally recommend requesting one made with vanilla custard and chocolate syrup, rather than their default which is made from chocolate custard. Just a personal preference. Enjoy!

I will start out by stating that this is easily the best custard/ice cream in all of Chicago. Ive had so much ice cream in my life and nothing really comes close to the creamy, richness of their custard. The staff there is usually a younger crowd and theyre always politeful and talkative.They have excellent options to jazz up your ice cream. I usually go with adding the Reeces PB Cups to my vanilla custard. They have different flavors that change with the seasons.The aesthetic of this place is that of an old fashioned candy shop and for that they will not let you down. Multiple types of unique candies from all over the world and what seems to be an endless supply of fresh bakery items such as cupcakes, cookies, brownies, etc.I get giddy just thinking about dessert time knowing this place exists.

Positively delicious ice cream. The line was slow but we had our ice cream very quick. The prices were pretty good. They have an amazing selection of root beer, lots of classics. They had many old school candies too which was a blast from the past. Overall, excellent experience!

A bit pricey but very delicious custard with lovely and creative concretes and milkshakes. Every time I go, I see something I should have gotten. If you go, splurge for something fancy rather than trying to go cheap. The fancy things are very special and quite the treat. Of course, just the custard is delicious too!

Massive assortment of mid century candy, nice variety of baked goods as well, I almost always get a concrete or a shake but my little sister really loves the chocolate covered espresso beans. Good to see this place busy even after the pandemic, might not have much in the way of sit down service right now but their staff is on top of everything. Very tempted to buy one of the novelty sodas, although Buffalo chicken wing soda might put me in an early grave. Has become a neighborhood pastime and reminds me of the soda shops my dad used to talk about when I was a kid.

Lots of toppings and many ways to order your custard. They also sell tons of vintage candies and sodas! The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are very friendly.

It was good for soft serve. They also had a candies that are hard to find. The only seating was a wood bench along a wall.The toppings were excellent.

Been going to Lickety Split since they opened. A wonderful addition to Edgewater. Am fortunate to have seen the shop grow to what it is. I was w a friend from Hammond, IN, We both had Sundaes, both very good, after all, who doesnt like frozen custard. The menu selection extensive, and also the other sweets offered as well. Come Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, its my go to place for treats.

Smooth creamy custards, vintage candies and sodas, and a selection of single serving baked goods and treats. Most people come here for the custards, which is like a soft serve ice cream. It can be overwhelming to decide what you want when you first walk in the door and try reading all the options you have. Basically, they always have vanilla and chocolate custards available in scoops, cones, or shakes, as well as a third option which changes each month, such as peach or cake batter or mint or similar. To the three custard options you can add candies theoretically mixed in as concrete although most of the treat will remain in the bottom of your custard based on my experiences. They always have a special preparation based on the flavor of the month that includes a pre-set mixture of candies or fruit with whipped cream, too. This is not ultra-fine gourmet, but it is extremely enjoyable every time, fun and easy and quick to go to at after dinner. Helpful fun staff, and fun to look at vintage candies, too.

Sorry not sure what the rave is about. I ordered a custard concrete with a funfetti cupcake. Disappointed. I thought it would be better then Andy’s Custard or Culver’s but it was nothing that I was impressed with.

The custard is special, fresh, and natural. The retro candies remind me of my childhood. The owners are great neighbors and are generous to the community. Enchanting place for children and families and old timers like me.

I bought the peanut butter blowout in a large with chocolate custard. It was blended with Reeses peanut butter cups and butterfingers. It was pretty sweet and it tasted good
