Two car garage project was completed well, but slowly and it required frequent oversight from me. I found most of the subcontractors to be very good (especially the painters and framers), but it was surprising that the general contractor (Ken) never actually made a trip out to the job site over the course of the 6-month build. Also, I found it peculiar that Earl (the customer facing staffer who is tasked with estimating/selling the job) was not involved in the project going forward through construction. Earl made some representations that didnt quite come together in the final product (such as; project timeline, matching features to the existing house, and an insulated garage door). Whitney, the office manager, was always quick to respond to my queries, but was not empowered to do anything or provide any estimated timelines; everything had to go through Ken who was clearly overwhelmed. While I wouldnt necessarily recommend using Affordable, if you do, Id suggest revising their contract to include a cash penalty concept for missing key construction dates.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Ken and his team did such a fantastic job on our detached 2-car garage. They stay true to their name: the garage was within our budget and still beautifully built. Sometimes you get more than you pay for ;) Working from home, I was able to watch every step of the process and was amazed at how fast these guys got our garage up. The crew was efficient, polite and never left a mess. Ken gave me frequent updates and I never felt out of the loop. Everything is exactly as they said it would be and we are so happy with the final product. Thanks so much Ken!!!!!
Competitive price, delivered on schedule, Ken promptly answered my texts/calls along the way, and my general contractor agreed they built a solid garage. Will definitely use them again. Nice work!
Affordable Garages did a great job building a custom garage for us. Earl did a great job interpreting what we were looking for and making recommendations to achieve and keep costs down. Ken did an excellent job communicating throughout the entire process. He was always accessible to answer questions, keeping us informed on schedule steps and accommodating change requests at very reasonable prices. All of their work crews did quality work and were great to work with. Overall this was a great experience along with getting a beautiful garage at a reasonable price.
Earl is great at selling the project. But no one ever shows up to check the work of the sub contractors. We should have known right off the bat they changed the the plan. Concrete not laid expertly. Wrong garage door put on then change to correct door. Ended up painting 3 different times to make correct. Brick still looks terrible not plumb leaning and uneven not expertly put on. Would not recommend unless you have time to micro manage.
Started off great with a quick scheduling of an estimate. Then we never heard back. Not even to say the job was too small or whatever. Its like business ghosting. Left us dsappointed, because I had heard this company does a good job.
The folks at Affordable Garages are pros and the final product is solid. They listened and responded to my comments and questions. I appreciate the efficiency, quality and affordability of work. Any building project takes time and patience and they helped make it a very good experience. Thanks, Ken, and crew for a job well done!
They came out gave a quote and all in the same day. Trying to get a quote for my daughters he came out never heard back after several attempts. 2 jobs they lost unprofessional
I highly recommend Affordable Garages! Yes - the pricing is very competitive, but more important is how good is the team and work - Affordable Garages get high marks across the board. Earl, Ken, and the team are responsive, professional, and trustworthy. Additionally, their work is really good. I spoke with my neighbors throughout the process and only received compliments on the work and professionalism of the team. Also, I had to have a new sewer put in. Ken took the time to work with the sewer contractor and explain the new permitting process.
Ken and his team did a fantastic job building me a custom 3 car garage in the Highlands. They worked with me on keeping parts of the existing garage to keep costs down and its integration into the new part of the garage is seamless. They also replaced my sidewalk and patio. I would highly recommend them for any garage or concrete project you have.
Affordable Garages was referred to us by 2 separate friends and we can see why they are highly recommended. Ken took the time to come to the property and give us several options to select based on size and budget. They worked quickly and remained within the quoted price. Additional electrical work was needed because the home was older, which we knew about in advance, and they got us a few quotes to complete that work, too. Overall, the experience was exceptional and we would recommend Affordable Garages to all.
Affordable Garages just finished my garage this week (12/18/2018 )What an amazing group of guys, Earl, Ken and their team. From the prompt initial estimate to the completed and final inspection, it was a great experience. The structure was up in 3-4 days following the issuance of the permit and about another week to finish the job. Even with their busy schedule Earl and Ken were always available for any questions or concerns, this along with the unmatched price was a big part of choosing these guys. I tried three other companies for estimates, one company even told me they would schedule my estimate and the soonest would be a month and a half! Just for the estimate! Highly highly recommended!
Great service and price from Affordable Garages. Very easy to work with these guys. They will take care of everything from start to finish and give you a call to update you every step along the way. Highly recommended.
Ken and Earl came in with a competitive bid and delivered on budget and on schedule. They were easy to work with and delivered a high quality project that my family and I are thrilled with. They were able to permit and build a three stall garage in the winter in 2 months.
Great experience with Affordable Garages. These guys were very professional and far cheaper than other options I looked into. The garage looks great and is a huge asset in the winter time. If you are in the marker for a garage, I highly recommend Affordable Garages.
These guys rock. From the time the permit was issued to the final inspection of a great finished 24x20 garage, was a total of 9 days. They came in and did a great job. Left the place spotless. Very professional.
When it comes to residential construction nearly every contractor I have worked with has screwed me over. Either on money, lack of communication, or taking 20 times longer than originally said to finish the project. That being said, Ken and Earl were amazing. When things unexpectedly popped up (which, spoiler alert, ALWAYS happens in construction) they communicated immediately. They gave me the new schedule and stuck to it. Their final price was within 5% of their initial estimate even with a few unforeseeable things popping up that added to the cost. Once all the red tape was gone they were lightning fast getting a 24 x 24 garage built. I plan on buying another property in the next 3 years and will for sure be using them to build a garage should one be needed. Work with these guys. They are amazing.
Ken & Earl provided the best service and attention you could ask for in getting my garage built. The only thing we couldnt control was the weather, but they worked with that too in the best possible manner.I give Affordable Garages my top recommendation.
What can I say, other than Affordable Garages exceeded professionally the quality of workmanship of the garage they built for my wife and I. The concrete work, framing, roofing, garage door, window and door, painting the complete process on the garage installation was above and beyond the expectation for the reasonable amount I paid to have the garage built. It all was handled very professional from beginning to end, also the clean up afterwards was awesome. I would recommend this company for your installation of garage needs. Thank you Affordable Garage for the joy you have brought to my family with the garage and the money well spent to have you build it.
Ken, Earl, and the Affordable Garages team were AMAZING to work with! They delivered our garage two weeks early despite winter weather and a change I made to the windows(on the day they were installing them!). They even came back after they were done(and fully paid) to install our security camera like they said they would! I cant say enough good things about the work that Affordable Garages did and how great they were to work with. They always answered the phone or returned our calls in a timely manner. They kept us informed every step of the way. They also fixed things after they were complete at little to no charge to us and quickly! They built us a custom swinging fence door that looks great and works beautifully! If you are looking to build a garage, I HIGHLY recommend Affordable Garages!
These guys have built several garages for me over the years. Theyve been great, and at a great price! You should understand that Denver contractors are all busy, but trust me when I say, theyll be able to do it faster and more inexpensively than anyone out there.
I tried to call FIVE times and their voice mail cut me off. Then sent an email letting them know, and I need six garages built. Whomever in their company wrote back with a one sentence, poorly punctuated response and said they werent interested in my business because of my email. These are unprofessional people. After reading the other poor reviews, I get it. Bummer, you really should find a company with some measure of professionalism. When the next recession hits, this is the kind of company that will be begging for business before they fold. Pick one that will be around. Good grief.
I want to start by saying that if you are looking for a contractor who will build you a well built garage, not skimp on materials, and who is knowledgeable about city code and works hard to ensure they meet those specifications this will be a great contractor for you to hire and you need not read my review further. However, if you care about working with a contractor who will deliver exactly what you ask for, respond to questions/concerns in a timely manner, or who will take full responsibility for failures to meet contractual agreements, you should consider looking elsewhere. We had our old 1800s garage structure (which was crumbling) torn down and hired Affordable Garages to replace it. The owner, Earl, came out to meet with us, take measurements, and talk about the project. He followed up promptly with a quote well below two others we had already received and that included certain city code updates and a wealth of other details about city requirements that none of the other contractors brought up. We were impressed and excited to work with Earl. However, Earl was not who we actually worked with. Enter Ken. At first, Ken was perfectly likable. He was great with our two dogs when he came over to meet with us, appeared to care about doing a good job for us with this project (which, by the way, cost us a PRETTY penny), and was generally very responsive. Our ask: a 21x26 two car garage, a 3x51 ft walkway with ally access, and a new (smaller) concrete porch. They got right to work tearing down our garage and removing a giant concrete slab covering the entirety of our back yard so we could replace it with a real yard. They then put out wooden posts to outline where they would pour the concrete for our new garage. When my husband and I examined the post placements we saw that they were only about 18 inches from the fence where we were supposed have a 3 ft wide walkway. My husband immediately called Ken to alert him of this, as this is NOT what we asked for. We would have gladly taken a smaller garage if it meant we got our walkway and ally access. Ken did not answer, so we left him a voicemail. A day went by and Ken still had not called us back. We came home from work the next day to find that they had poured concrete without moving the posts and without consulting with us first, or alerting us to the fact that they would not be able to fulfill that particular portion of our contract. So we called Ken again and he made an appointment to meet with us the next morning and take a look. He showed up, acted like it was no big deal, shrugged off our concerns and said they measured to the Pin Survey and that we should take it up with our neighbor, as they are encroaching on our land.Heres the problem: Even IF we took it up with our neighbor.....these guys cant measure to save their life. We would STILL not end up with the 3ft wide walkway we were promised. Best case scenario would could realistically recover like 10 inches, not including the 4 inches we would lose when we moved the fence. There could never have been a 3 ft. wide walkway and when we brought this all up with Ken he called it a MUTUAL MISTAKE. His big concession to make up for his negligence was to not charge us the concrete he could now not pour. In my view, we took the responsibility to notice something was wrong, call them about it when a change could still be made, and then called them AGAIN when our concerns went unaddressed. This is, by definition, a mistake which is NOT mutual. We tried on our end to rectify it. Ken dropped the ball.We now have a really nice two car garage with NO ally access, interior dry wall with a giant boot print on the north wall, a $500 credit...not for his negligence but because (and I quote) I played the kid card by mentioning my pregnancy, and a further $672 discount which is basically for the materials he didnt use in the process of not living up to our contract. A whole 2.84% discount on a $41k unfulfilled project.Neat.
Earl and Ken were very professional and once the work started were very efficient, and left the job site clean and picked up. I love my garage!
After having an employee visit to see about construction of a new garage, we never heard back with quotes or any follow-up (which he said would happen a few days after the visit.) We even called a couple weeks later to follow-up, spoke with someone who said he would email information and quotes that day - never did. Made our decision easy to avoid this company — they can’t even follow-through on bids. I can’t imagine what their actual service is like.
Great to work with, the project was completed in the exact time window and the work is outstanding.
I have visited Italy and few times and I am amazed when I see the Roman Coliseum which was built around A.D. 70-72. The ancient Romans were masters with concrete and architecture. Well if you have Affordable Garages and Concrete do your concrete project be prepared for the concrete to last about a year.I had professionals come look at their work and they explained the excessive cracking was due to poor preparation and poor quality workmanship.
Price was affordable but what should have taken one month has now gone into two months and still waiting. They have left my garage Un finished and have not even called to tell us when they are coming back. Last two weeks we have seen no one! still waiting for them to come back and finish job. When we call we get sent to voicemail to leave another message.
Couldnt be happier. Best price in town and the construction was top knotch. Ken and Earl are both easy to deal with. Fair payment schedule and excellent timelines.
From beginning to end, the customer service and the workers were all very professional! We had to battle between rain and snow and we were always given notice to when someone was going to be at our home. We couldn’t be happier with the end result, our new garage is beautiful!
Was late showing up to bid project. Said we would have a quote in a week. Waited 2 weeks, called and left messages, but never heard back.
Should probably change the name and get rid of the “Affordable” with a $3,500 minimum project.
Company was great too work with very friendly and professional I want to thank Ken who is the owner for taking care of the problem we had with the city of edgewater and the plans he took over to build our garage it was a disaster and before I got the facts I over reacted and blamed affordable garage for the mistake of previous company who drew the original plans to build our garage and I opoglize because the truth is Ken went out of his way to correct the damage he had no fault of and met us in the middle of the cost so anyone looking for a great company and great garage look no further our garage is beautiful and Ken will be a great friend for life and please disregard the review of Rey Macias that is my son and that review ties into this one sincerely Mrs DeLeon God bless you Ken and thank you
I sent a email and received a call from Earl Ti set up a day for an estimate. Day of the estimate Earl called and was sick...we rescheduled... He cane out did the estimate said he would get back to me in a week with estimate.... Its been three weeks no call. I called and spoke with Earl he said he would call back with estimate....never heard back....at this point no reason to use this company....horrible service!!!
Good price with good work. Will Romero
Terrible communication and talking on the phone very rude and inconsiderate
DO NOT USE THEM WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THEM TO COURT AND SUING THEM FOR BUILDING OUR GARAGE NOT UP TO CITY CODE!!!
