This is, without a doubt, the WORST dermatology clinic. Id love to give zero stars, but sadly I cannot. SAVE YOUR MONEY! Everything from bedside manner to giving clients a diagnosis is incredibly unprofessional and heartless. Theyre all about making money and not caring about their clients emotions or needs. Denise Barnardt, in particular, is AWFUL at diagnosing patients. She doesnt even make eye contact; its like she talks to a wall the whole time. The way that she gives patients a diagnosis is so insensitive and careless. She likes to keep appointments under 10 minutes as well too, so make sure you ask whatever you need to during that timeframe. This is a doctor who is clearly in the business for money and zero for patient care.Save your money and go elsewhere where youll be better taken care of! Its worth waiting a few months to see a great doctor vs. rushing in to this clinic. The fact that shes literally always got openings in her calendar at the office should reflect how little she cares for her patients and how often they return for her services.
Ive been going to Advanced Dermatology & Cosmetic Institute for over 10 years. Ive had nothing but extraordinary care. Dr Biden does tend to run late. In my experience, this is because she takes time to care for her patients. I had several Mohs procedures to remove basal cell carcinoma on my nose. Rather than creating a big hole in my nose, she proceeded carefully each time until the biopsy had clear margins. Ive also seen Melissa Waterman for several years and she is fantastic - professional, kind, and caring. Recently Ive been getting hydrafacials with Shelly. I will get these facials over any spa facial as they have many more benefits! Highly recommended this clinic and the staff.
Love this dermatology clinic. You don’t have to wait terribly long for an appointment, everybody is very-very nice, Dr. Briden is very helpful and personable and willing to take her time to explain things and chat a bit. Just really look forward to seeing them with dermatology needs!!!
Horrible place of business. Very rude receptionists. I came with my girlfriend and was asked to go wait in my car (due to covid). Do they do the same thing to parents that come with their kids??? Edit 11/19/2020: there was not “limited seating” when I went there. There was enough seats and they were all very well socially distanced. I was still thrown out like a dog! Neither my girlfriend or I will ever go back there again. Everyone should beware of this unethical business. How can you seriously justify splitting apart family’s and loved ones, using covid as an excuse? No rational person will agree to that nonsense.
They treated my family member who had a condition with urgency and skill. Their prescribed treatment worked quickly. Melissa and the nurses were professional and respectful, and I would highly recommend her and this clinic if youre dealing with a dermatological concern.
My girls and I have been seeing Dr Briden, Denise Barnhardt and Mellissa Waterman for years. Every experience has been positive. Everyone from reception, nursing, doctor/PA professionals have been kind, knowledgeable, helpful and competent! We have always been treated with compassion and respect. If I ever do wait to see someone, I know they are taking the necessary time and care with other patients. I also work but schedule enough time for a thorough visit. I never feel rushed. I have received reminder calls and texts which is extremely helpful and also lets me know they are expecting me at my appt time. I love everyone at this office and would not go anywhere else unless I moved out of state.
At St Francis in Shakopee, the receptionist was helpful & kind. I was seen in a timely manner. Denise was wonderful, as well as her assistant. Thank you
I have had only positive experiences at Advanced Dermatology. Yes, the wait can be long (one star off), but Dr. Chapman is amazing. Super friendly, professional, and helpful.
I went to an appointment an hour early by mistake. They said they could see me shortly anyhow and it wouldnt be long. I was there until AFTER my appointment time before they were ready to see me. Then I had the worst experience of my life. To take care of a bump on my lip they decided they needed to cut it off and burn it shut. She injected anesthetic to deep into my lip in 3 different places and hen started cuttin before anything had set in!!!! I felt EVERYTHING!! And then while I was writhing in pain she proceeded to burn the bleeding huge area on my lip to seal it shut! It wasnt working so she kept burning & kept fearing my flesh and The anesthetics had still barely set in and now I was hearing and smelling my flesh being burnt from my skin and the whole while she is trying to burn it and burn it until t stopped bleeding. I was never more horrified in my life. And I have gotten 10 cavities filled without anesthetics. I felt like I was a victim in a Saw 4 movie. And guess what?!!!! The bump came right back!!!!!! And I had to PAY out of pocket to be tortured for no results!!! This place is horrific!!! If I could give it negative stars I would fill in 5 negative stars. This place created the most traumatic event of my life.
We had a great experience here. The receptionist was very friendly and attentive. The doctor we worked with explained things clearly and completely.
Expect to wait at least 45 minutes after your appointment time to be seen. I have had at least five appointments here and they have never even been close to on time. The receptionists are condescending and not friendly at all. The skincare specialists are great.
Avoid this clinic. The doctor is chronically late. Todays appointment was for 3:30 pm and at 4:35 pm she was just beginning to see the patient ahead of me. When I asked the front desk if being well over 1 hour late was unusual, they replied that it was completely normal. Sigh. Wish I had read the other bad reviews first.
Dr Barnhardt is great. Very helpful. I have never had to wait to get into my appointment.
Had to wait over 30 minutes. No reason why. At second appointment not told results of test and shown the results. Totally disfigured my face and did not send home care instructions. Avoid at all costs.
All of the reviews are true - Advanced Dermatology is not professional NOR “advanced” in any way. Their clinic is highly outdated and Dr. Briden is someone I would not trust for any medical needs. She is not focused on patient care but rather patient money.
I had a rescheduled appointment at their Shakopee site today. They called me the day before the appointment and said there was a conflict in her schedule and rescheduled me for 8:30 this morning. I waited for an hour and the doctor still had not arrived at the facility. I mention how unprofessional that was to the staff. They were very sympathetic and kind so 5 stars to them. Denise Barnhardt PA heard what was going on and fit me in her schedule immediately. I would give her 5 stars. I guess Id say the only downfall is Doctor Briden does not put her patients first or so it seems
On my first (and only) visit to Advanced Dermatology the doctor I saw performed a treatment on me that she did not ask or tell me she was going to do. As she was looking at a bump above my lip, she put a needle in the bump without asking me if she could do any treatment or warning me. It was extremely painful and shocking. She then went to use different tools in the bump, again without explaining anything. I dont doubt the doctor was very competent (clearly with the speed of which she performed the treatment) but she had a really bad bedside manner and her tech who was in the room the whole time added nothing.I wish I wouldve read the reviews before I went but I will not be going back to this dermatologist. On a side note, I also told the facility about my negative experience and the nurse supervisor gave me a call back. She was very nice but she understood the issue I had with someone not telling me that they were doing a painful procedure to my face or explaining it at all beforehand. She was receptive to my feedback that doctors should explain procedures to patients before doing them so hopefully other patients wont experience similar situations.
I have had good experiences everytime I went and I didnt wait long at all!
I have been going to this clinic for 15 years or more and over that time have seen their service, competency and courtesy diminish. Ive been yelled at by the receptionist to get off my phone in the lobby, um what? Everyone is on their cell phones and as a working mom, I need to stay connected to whats happening. Ive been treated like an inconvenience when I schedule an appt. My daughter traveled an hour one way in rush hour traffic for an appointment only to be told, we dont have you down for an appointment, we cancelled it. They indeed cancelled her appointment, but failed to call her (the patient) to inform her of the cancellation. The receptionist and front desk staff over the years have been so rude and condescending it reminds me of an episode of Housewives. Its time to find a new derm clinic.
Ive been going to this clinic for over 15 years and have had pretty good experiences. They are expensive, but know what they are doing. Ive had many moles removed and the scars are minimal (compared to some ive seen are awful!) they also cured my acne that i had struggled for YEARS with. Ive never had nice skin until the last few years. Its life changing. I also have high anxiety during doctor visits and they are very patient and understanding. Overall - i recommend this place.
Horrible survive. The ladies at the front desk are rude. The doctor is always behind at minimum 45 minutes. Today its going on an hour and still several of us in the lobby waiting. Obviously they need to change their allotted times for Appointments since its the same issue every time you come here!
I have been a patient at this clinic for over 10 years, and I have seen the level of service slowly declining within the last three years to the point where I am going to have to be inclined to look for another dermatologist. I go there once a year for a follow up visit for my enczema. Well, the last three annual visits were horrible to say the least. First of all, my appointment was at 1:30pm. I waited all three times for over an hour before they finally got to me. When I complained, the receiptionist was both condecesding and very rude and acted like I was out of place for complaining. Then, when I mentioned a similar comment to the nurse. She was like: so what do you want me to do about it?I think the folks working at this clinic are there purely for the money with no regard to their patients.Shame on them.
I normally dont write reviews, but I read them frequently when finding a quality place/service. After my experience at Advanced Dermatology I felt compelled to write one.In all my years of making appts and getting care Ive seen the good and the bad. However, this place tops the chart for worst experience with the staff and patient care Ive had.I went in to get treated for blemishes while pregnant and the doctor couldnt get me out of that room quick enough. Im talking 2 minutes and she stood up to leave. No asking questions about my past, no examining my skin type. Acne? Heres a prescription. She was so anxious to write me prescription that I kept having to say Wait, I have a few more questions. I was concerned about taking anything while carrying a baby. She didnt have my best interest in mind with the prescription. It had obviously been a push from a pharmaceutical company where she was rewarded financially for writing it. Brand new on the market, no generic equivalent. $$$Fast forward one year, and I recently tried to make an appt. Not sure why I decided to give it another try, but it seemed easy to just go back. But when I called to make an appt the receptionist was so rude I was just left speechless as to how they stay in business with that sort of care. Needless to say I decided to scrap it.Ive gone to Dermatology Specialists for my son (3316 West 66th Street), literally a block away from Advanced Dermatology, and they had great staff and care. I would recommend anyone researching to find a new dermatologist to try there before ever experiencing the poor quality of service at Advanced Dermatology.Hope you find this review helpful.
Receptionists were inattentive and condescending. Doctor was late. Was charged a copay for a follow-up visit for suture removals, and they didnt even remove all of the stitches.
Mostly good. Had to wait a couple times, but not too long.
Dont go there. My appointment was at 9:15 am.At 9:43 I went to ask how much longer? The staff informed me that the doctor Elizabeth Briden was even not in the office yet and that there was 4 patients to be seen before me!!!I got my co-pay back and left. Not worth my time!
