Just got another car last Friday. I hate that I had to look for a new mechanic cuz I had to let go my last. And researching for a decent place with trustworthy technicians/mechanics who are informative and knowledgeable, courtesy, detailed and not trying to bamboozle you as a female driver is hard to come by. But the search might be over at this location. 1st time customer, read some great reviews on Google so gave it a try. I didnt get his name but immediately greeted me and asked me what I needed and more. Performed requested service and checked other maintenance routines as needed without question.. Gave me a great deal first go around already reminded of what would need to be looked at next when it was time. I felt safe and secure in what he was saying. And thats what I appreciate. I want to feel confident that you care about my car as much as I do.

Owners of this place are courteous and trustworthy. My old car gave trouble with inspection and I got good help from them. Will continue to visit them for any car repairs and maintenance 👍

I came for a starter issue, they finally diagnosed just a dead battery. I was told by another garage my car has a has a coolant leak and they pressured the system and found nothing. My car is now perfectly working.The price was more than correct and the team is honest and professional.I will definitely come back there.

I’ve been having a hard time finding a mechanic for an AC issue due to my busy schedule. I looked online for local mechanics and called Freedman Auto today. Despite them closing in the hour, they told me to come by anyways.They took a look at it & within 20 mins my AC issue was resolved. I believe his name is Jake, but I forgot to confirm. He was very honest, professional, and treated me like family even though it was my first time coming there. Very hard to find people who actually care about their customers. Will be coming back for any future issues and will be recommending this shop to all my friends & family.

I am currently traveling home from Maryland to Massachusetts and blew out a tire on my trailer. I called three different places and they all refused. I finally stumbled upon Freedman Tire and spoke to the owner, Jake. He was more than happy to help me along with one of his employees. They were pleasant and did a great job! Without them I’d be stuck! He treated us like he’s known us for years, he’s highly recommended.

I left feeling that they wish to build a repertoire and relationship with their customers, so that we can trust that they are here to help consider options and not just apply the easy and expensive solution of overhauling parts. Jake and his crew are the best auto mechanics I’ve ever used. Period.I found them through online reviews and needed some wheel work done after an accident. The service was so good and Jake is such a genuinely good guy he could tell me it is raining unicorns and I’d believe every word he says.These guys see cars all day every day (it’s good to see a local business BUSY), but even still, the fact that the staff remember me, remember my car, remember the work they did on it (without looking in their records) and treat me like I’m the only customer they have speaks wonders. Normally I wouldn’t appreciate this as much as other customers would because I’m far more introverted than most people, but the fact these guys are so personal makes me trust them with my car completely without an ounce of doubt.Other cars I’ve owned through the years have been treated like garbage, even sabotaged via shady business practices by other shops (looking at you Mavis, Midas, Firestone, etc), but my car feels brand new and cared for in the hands of Jake and his team. I’m willing to pay more for this quality of service than go anywhere else. I respect and trust this shop that much. Jake has not once lowballed or oversold me on any parts and service he’s done and has always given me the best prices for even better service.I know this is babbling at this point, but to find a good auto mechanic shop is nearly impossible. If you live anywhere near Edison or Middlesex county look no further than these guys. As long as I live near here I will give Jake Freedman my business for any and all auto repairs/maintenance I’ll ever need.

I was in the area for the holidays when I noticed a noise from my back breaks. I took my car to Freedman Auto Service because of the good reviews I saw online, and I am happy to say the service was great. I dropped off my car and repairs were complete within hours, very reasonable considering the amount of work involved. I went to pick it up and noticed a burnt headlight still needed to be replaced. They did it right away for me, which was awesome especially considering it was about their closing time! Other repair shops would have just told me to come back the next day. The price was fair and costumer service was outstanding. I even got a phone call the next day to check if everything is according to what I expected as they knew I will be taking a road trip soon. Definitely the place I will go when I am in the Edison/New Brunswick area and need car work done!

Was referred to this amazing establishment from my in laws. Greeted as soon as I walked in and was taken care of right away. They squeezed me in close to closing time with no problem. Fixed up and patched my tire in no time. Explained what they found and how they fixed the problem. Staff were super friendly and fairly decent prices! Masks were worn but not required if you didn’t feel comfortable but place was clean! 10/10!

Freedman is great overall. Service is fast and consistent. Price is sometimes a little higher than what I would expect but I always drive away knowing the problem is fixed and that peace of mind is worth it. Would suggest and recommend.

I’ve been here for three years and it was a nice and reliable place.However, after a recent service, I found that they only put 4 out of 5 nuts on my wheels. This happens on all 4 wheels and they didn’t ever inform me or ask for my permission.I already drove my car for one week after the service, and will probably drive for another couple of months without these 4 nuts if I’m not lucky to notice this issue.I know it’s hard to keep your work done perfectly. But when one instance happens, I know this place is definitely not reliable any more.

I have been coming here for a few years and am always happy w/ the service. My car is running well. The prices are reasonable. I saw them work out a service/payment schedule w/ a customer. I really appreciate that they treated her as a human instead of dismissing her business bc she was on a budget.

Looks like they are taking more than they can handle resulting in delays and poor finishes.

The service at this shop is exemplar. The guys provide a detailed explanation of everything that needs to be done. This shop is on a first come first serve basis so I suggest not to come on a busy day. I have been coming to this shop for years. They have worked on my Murano, Rav, Jeep and now Elantra. Their work is honest and won’t make you spend money on fixing unnecessary things. I have been to other shops where they take advantage of women that aren’t knowledgeable in cars and they do not do that here. You can trust them. There is free WiFi available while you wait, coffee, tv, a cell phone charging station, book and magazines to help you kill time.

This is a great auto service shop. However, be warned that none of the front desk staff (except the owner and one other when he is talking to customers) wear a mask consistently during a pandemic. If the workers aren’t so worried about getting it that’s fine. It’s on them. But the space is so small that it’s a danger if you’re waiting inside for your car. I also saw a customer allowed in without a mask. Fantastic mechanic, but if they can’t even wear a mask at the front desk or tell customers to wear one they aren’t taking this at all seriously. Warning for the coming fall and winter months.

These guys are honest, polite, and truly just want to help you out. I bought a car recently and 50 miles later my low tire pressure light came on. Instead of just plugging the tire they inspected it and showed me the inner side had been run down to the chords! They hooked me up with a used tire that matched my treads for an amazing price. Was recommended by a friend, definitely only going to these guys now going forward.

Wow, I don’t know where to begin. I’ve been going to Jake’s shop for over 14 years. So many different cars. All types of work. I do love how quick they can get you in and out. Whether it’s a tire change, oil or a new muffler. I know it sounds like I’m advertising but they literally just did my Audi TTRS exhaust, and I wanted them to put on the intake I had. Well I call to see if car is ready and the guy that answered said it didn’t fit and he wanted to call the company in the morning and see no what parts are missing. All star people over there

I think they trained their employees on my car as every time I brought it in it would come out in a worse state than it came in. Every time I requested them to fix the issues that theyve caused, they tried to charge me some obnoxious sums on top of what theyve charged me previously. They also performed repairs for $400 that they did not call to warn me about (even though they did call in to ask if they could test drive the car within a 5 mile radius).

Throughout the whole process; from checking in to checking out was a good experience although I did not get a repair done... I am happy with their service and their honesty that goes a long way in business. If I ever need something repaired(hopefully not) I will be going here.

My 2000 dodge 1500 van steering was bad...I couldnt turn right...Power steering pump went coming home from work at the hospital...fluid all over the driveway. Next morning I struggled to Freedman make it there with my roommate following me...in case I wouldnt make it...but I made it...the steering rotted out from the frame after Freedman checked it out..van is done....Jake...the nicest guy in the world..So I had to rent a car for three weeks to get to work at the hospital..I have to be there...I had purchase another van..I found one.....he let me keep my old van onsite till I can transfer from one van to the other...the best during these tough times...

I went in for an oil change, and that’s all I asked them for. My tire pressure was low and I was going to fill it myself later on, and I had this rattling noise from a piece of metal that protects the gas tank from heat that was loose, that I planned to fix on my own later. Never told them about this. They charged me the regular oil change price and I get my car and see they put air in my tires and fixed/secured the rattling metal piece for me!!! They went above and beyond and I really appreciate it. Definitely will return for any of my auto needs. Very friendly and great customer service.

Wow - Freedman has great customer service. I needed new tires so I was looking online for the best rated and local dealers. I found Freedman and called to see if they had what I was looking for in stock. The owner, Jake Freedman, answered the phone and politely asked if he could call me back because he was with a customer. Wow! I appreciate that he gave preference to the in-person customer over a random caller, me, because this is what I like when Im in a retail shop. He called me back quickly and gave me information on the three tires he would recommend and the pros and cons of each. Wow again. Based on this one call, I decided to give him my business.When I went into the shop the next day, his guys took my information and started work quickly. Jake let me know what other services might be needed on my car and provided me with his recommendation on when to get these. It was not a hard sell at all -in fact, there was not one thing on the this will need to be done soon list that he said needed to be done today.Based on this experience, I believe Freedman to be an honest auto shop. Ill be back.

These guys promptly checked out my car to generate a repair strategy and quote for an exhaust leak, and came up with a very workable plan - quickly - that aligned with what Id been told by a dealership service department (but for a fraction of the cost). Super personable, too.

Jake (owner) has been a pleasure to go to for the past 8 years. Prices are fair, quick service and most importantly hes fair and knowledgeable. He wont try and get you to pay for service that isnt required.

I went there the fix Death Wobble on my Jeep Wrangler. Not many people know about jeeps other than experienced people like them. I got a quick call assuring it is a minor issue and it only needs some tweaking.They took the effort to drop me back and fixed the problem in about 4-5 hours. Great on pricing. Highly recommended!

Ive been to this shop several times and everytime Ive gone the guys there have all been very helpful and friendly. The very first time I went I was inquiring about new wheels because my metal wheels have a slow leak where it meets the tires. Other places told me I would need to get a new set of wheels but Freedman told me that I just needed to have them sealed around which worked out great and saved me money. Ive also purchased new tires and had my air filter changed there and they always provide great service. I would highly recommend them.

Went to get my tires rotated and balanced. I was told that the loud vibrating issue from the front right wheel at high speeds wasnt a tire problem but a bad wheel bearing. Well, I went to a second mechanic and they replaced the entire wheel hub (including bearing) that I bought, and the problem persisted. I went to a Mavis to see if balancing and rotating fixed it. Sure enough that did. I guess the point is Freedman claimed to have balanced and rotated when in fact they did not (or did improperly).

Best place to bring your vehicle by far. Honest, caring guys who will never steer you wrong.

This was my third visit. very experienced staff. I went to get my exhaust pipe leak to get fixed, they inspected and popped it back in place and fixed the problem, did not charge a single penny. I actually dont post any review. This is probably my second one. I had my Honda Odyssey 2004 checked with Jake. Such a nice person he is. Customer service is top notch. Although my vehicle had mutiple issues, Jake was so realistic and asked not to waste money which is not worth of. No wonder why I see so many 5 stars. They deserve it!

Friendly, reliable and trustworthy. They are not the cheapest mechanics but I know they will fix what is broken and offer superior service. The only mechanic Ive ever used who actually called me a couple days later to make sure my car was fixed to my satisfaction. The only mechanic Ill use after having several local franchises say they fixed something when they didnt it didnt do it properly.

Ive been going here for years for tire replacements. Ive brought luxury cars here, but they work on all makes and models. Honest employees, fair labor rates, and great service. 1st come 1st serve but Ive never waited longer than 45minutes for tire replacements or oil changes. Owner has been operating this shop for 35+ years and theyre as professional as can be.

Brought my car in because my car is pulling to the left, and the grinding brake noise in wet weather. After spending 500 dollar here for the alignment and brake pads, they told me it was fixed, and they did test drive to make sure.However, after I pick up my car, nothing was fixed! my car is still pulling to the left and brakes still making the same noise. This shop is not reliable at all and they will lie to their customer. Will not recommend this shop.

Never wrote a ticket for front end alignment was told vehicle would be done in an hour, hour and fifteen minutes. Three hours later, work never got done and asked for the keys and took it to another repretable place. Would not suggest automotive work being done here if you are promised a specific time and they cant follow simple protocol regarding their own standards and procedures.

Had a bad tire patch on an expensive Pirelli tire on my 2016 Volvo SUV. Another tire place recommended Freedman as the best place to get an honest set of options, great service, and a fair price. They were right!!! Freedman has great people who know their jobs well and also know how to deal with customers. Five Stars. Many thanks and good wishes to all.

I needed an immediate fix for my sedan (i.e. broken brake line), but Jake provided sound advice for my transportation needs that did not work in his favor financially. He is a knowledgeable, honest worker who takes the time to do what is in best interest of the customer. To me that is above and beyond service.

Went here to get a patch up for one of my tires which had a fast leak. Came here on a Saturday at 8:15, and I was already on a long queue of customers waiting for service. This is to be expected since they do say that this is their most busiest day. The job took about 2 hours, which isnt bad, but my only complaint is that the guys working on my car dirtied my rims.

These guys are simply one of the best group of mechanics you are going to find anywhere. Extremely competent folks. Friendly. Will give you a straight and fair deal.

My first stop here. They had 3 used tires for my car -- I called through central NJ and couldnt find one. Jake (Owner) explained everything well, helped me understand what was priority and what was not worth doing (burning my money on). Appreciated the customer service and quick work. Regarding that review from 5 years ago, Ill update if the user tires fail prematurely.

Had my serpentine belt replaced about a year ago by these guys. Excellent service. Tony was my my rep getting me all set up. He was great calling me later and explaining everything that was going to take place. I just dropped of my 2009 Mazda CX9 this morning for an alternator and rear rotors/pads. Again, great communication explaining the job to me. Will go back again for tires soon.

What a great experience at Freedman! I am so happy a friend at work recommended I go there for replacement tires.I called hoping to get an estimate and figured it would only be a ballpark estimate. The quote was right on and no hidden fees as promised.Carl was so helpful that he went out of his way to make sure he had the tires I needed for my vehicle in stock. And since I didnt even know what size my tires are he was able to instruct me how to find the information on my tire to give him over the phone and did so without making me feel dumb for not knowing which I really appreciated.I only had time on my lunch break to get my tires replaced so when I popped in, even though it was clear they were busy, Carl assured me they had time for me and they were even done with my car faster than the estimated time.Great customer service. Okay, I guess my original review was a bit off. I can see that the mechanics suggestions are honest and that this place is worth coming back to. The only downside is that they only seem to deal with OEM parts. Other than that, great place--it deserves the rating.

I called up a couple of auto shops comparing prices to change my tires. They have the highest price for tires, and non-negotiate-able.I politely said the other shop offered me such such price, does he thinks they can do a little better or if they have any promotions?( its all about the way you say it not what you say). The gentleman responded me you can just go there. That is not a good customer service. He could have said it nicely, such as oh Im sorry this is the best we can offer. EctPoor customer service.By the way, did you notice the reviews here are mostly from the people who doesnt really write reviews or new to Yelp?

One of the worst mechanics I have gone too. I took my car in twice and will never go back again. First time they changed a belt on my car. It fell off a mile down the road. The second time I brought it in because the car died. It needed a new alternator and then I had to get a tie rod replace that had nothing to do with the repair. Dishonest mechanics.

I’m disappointed, Freedman :(I’be been here before because of the tire pressure. They help me adjusting the tire pressure without charging me anything. They left me good impression. Last time my friend got a free engine check in Freedman, so this time my engine alert lights up, I come here directly for help. However, this time, the crew just take away our key and do the examination for less than 10 minutes and tried to charge me for 1 hrs fee for 108 dollars. I ask him why they charge me 1hr labor for 10 minutes work, and they said they have done the mechanical check so they have to charge me for minimum 1hr labor fee. I ask them why they do the charged examination without my authorization . He threw up his hands and told me it’s done and I had to pay for that 108 dollars. Well, they left me no choice but paid to take my car. I think this might be the last time I pay a visit to Freedman 🙁
