Do you want honest, reliable, quality car repair and maintenance and not empty your bank account? FAE is the place for you! These gentlemen are EXCEPTIONAL and you will never take your car anywhere else! Hands down, the BEST!
Foreign Auto Experts is the HONEST car repair place I have been looking for for years! They have helped me with my car and saved me a lot of money compared to the dealership. One of the parts they replaced ended up having a manufacturer defect and they fixed it at no extra cost to me, not even for the extra service and time it took them to do it.My husband recently took his car there for an issue and they actually sent him to another place because the other place could do the work cheaper for us. Who does that anymore? Love that we can trust our cars to them and know were not getting ripped off. Also love that they respond to Facebook messages and Steve who I often speak with on the phone is super helpful and kind. Highly recommend!
I own a popular reliable Japanese car. My dealership wrote me a lengthy tune-up report more than two years ago saying my brake pads were worn down to .1 in. Since theyd been pushing $1400+ repairs on a fairly new car with low mileage (I work from home) annually, and the brakes felt fine to me, that was the last straw. My neighbors who used these guys for years recommended them. They told me to wait on the brake pads, and lo and behold the pads held out until this week, when they changed them for a reasonable rate. Another two times I took the car to them because I felt something was off (the tire light was on, etc.) and both times they gave me a clear bill of health and didnt charge me a penny, even though times are hard during the pandemic and they spent time looking at the car. Lovely people with impeccable integrity. They own my business now.
Been bringing my cars to these guys for my entire life. knowledgeable, personable. impeccable work. im lucky to know them.
Foreign auto experts is recommended to care for your car. I have dealt with Deutschwurx and they don’t take care of the customer. If you don’t like something they say this is our policy.. If you aren’t happy, there rules of what they will and won’t do are all that matters. Go there and have a problem, a very bad thing you will be stuck. Sadly some vw enthusiasts think they need Deutchwurx and in truth there are many alternatives even for any custom work. Try them. Use foreign auto experts imo
I broke my mirror and casing on my 2016 Honda CR-V. I called the Honda dealership and they were going to charge me a high price and I had to go to another dealership to get the mirror. I knew there had to be a better option somewhere else. My relative told me that Foreign Auto experts had good reviews on Nextdoor and they specialized in Honda repairs. I decided to give them a try. I’m so glad she told me about this place. The guys were so nice, professional, and gave me a more than fair price on my mirror. It took no time for the parts to come in or for them to install it. I HIGHLY recommend this place for anyone with a Honda looking to bypass the dealership. Thank you guys!
I paid over the market rate for break pad & rotor rotation - about $100 more than other mechanics. However, the owner did a great job of explaining to me that the high price comes with premium parts that will get the job done for as long as they say they will. In a machine that controls whether you live or die - that is paramount. I really appreciate the work they did. High price. Premium Parts - better than what youd get anywhere else except the dealership!
Hands down the best auto repair shop in this State. Brian, Steve, and Dustin are honest and decent people. They will never suggest a repair that isnt necessary and always attempt to do any repair the most cost effective way. They use quality parts and workmanship on all repairs is excellent. I cant say enough good things about them.
I have taken my 2018 Hyndai Elantra here for oil changes, brake pad repair and have not had any issues as of yet.I have also taken previous vehicles here (2001 corolla, 1998 cavalier) for routine oil changes, tire changes, and also have no complaints. They have competitive prices as well and I appreciate the direct, transparent communication when I have questions regarding repairs or costs.
Outstanding team there! Been going there for years and wont go anywhere else. Above and beyond services across the board.
Great shop, honest mechanics, and good customer service.
I moved to MD recently and took my car to a nearby Nissan Dealership for regular maintenance. During the inspection they found an issue that they said had to be done very soon for safety issues and they would do for $2000.My coworker then jumped in and told me about Foreign Auto Experts! Her husband swears by them and she said he has towed his car 40+ minutes just to use them because they are the best and charge fair prices.I called last week and asked if they thought they could make the repair for less than the dealership. They assured me that could do so for considerably less.I took my car in this morning and he took and look and assured me there was nothing wrong with car and didn’t even charge me for the check. They have a customer for life in me now!
Brian and Steve are very knowledgeable and friendly with every customer. They are always honest unlike some other dealerships and automotive shops I have gone to in the past.
My family has been going there since the 90s and I have recommended them to EVERYONE. Even when I was working at Dealerships in the Service dept. I would tell my customers about them. They have always treated us fairly and honestly. They will tell you what needs to be done now and what will need to be done down the road. If Brian and Steve say it NEEDS to be done it does. If they say it can wait a bit it can. They will always do their best to steer you in the right direction and never try to pressure you into un-needed work!
As always, the guys at Foreign Auto are knowledgeable and provide excellent and quick service. They are great!
Very Good Group Of Mechanics And Good Work.
They are the best mechanics in the DMV. I stopped wasting my time going to the Dealer. Foreign Auto Experts are exactly what their name says.
Had to have emergency service for the 15 year old Prius, and we were able to drive the car home the same day. Love the guys!
Always pleased with the service and attention- pleasant, friendly and I know my cars are well cared for.
Took my car in on a recommendation from a couple worker. Now I understand where she is so loyal. I stopped my car off for break work. Received an estimate before 1000 and was able to pick up my car by lunchtime. Ill be coming back.
Honest and reasonable pricing. They never try to sell me something I dont need. Highly recommended.
Great honest owners.Highly recommended
Very honest and reliable Auto shop! I have been there several times for repairs and will continue to go back. Steve and Bryan are so helpful and dont automatically want to charge me for repairs that dont need to be done yet, for example, my brakes!
Brian and Steve always do a great job working on my cars when they need maintenance or repair. Foreign Auto Experts has been around for a long time and have a loyal customer base. That says a lot about the quality and honesty of the business.
Friendly, competent, and very honest mechanics. What more can one ask for in a mechanic? There are many honest mechanics who are not very competent and there are many competent mechanics who are not very honest. As an example from years ago: My mother took her Honda Accord back to the dealer she purchased it from (ODonnell in Ellicott City) for some type of recall service work. After doing the work the mechanic told her, Your brakes are so bad I would not drive your car off the lot! My mother could not understand how a car she purchased new could be in need of brakes at only 45,000 miles. Thankfully she didnt listen to the guy and went to Foreign Auto Experts a day or so later and the guy (I think it was Brian) told her she had more than half her brake pad material left and would likely be good for at least another 40,000 miles! In the end she actually ended up getting almost 95,000 miles out of those original brake pads.
FAE is the best auto shop in the area. Certainly within a 30 mile radius. Ive been taking my cars to Brian and Steve for years and years. Always honest, always straightforward and Ive personally seen them sticking to the promised price to a customer when they misjudged the amount of labor. These are serious, professional people who will have no difficulty in securing customers for years to come.
Brian and Steve have been my car guys since I bought my first car in 1991. I wouldn’t go to anyone else.
By far the best service and price I have ever received from an auto business. The staff have always been courteous and have always done amazing work on my Honda Accord. Best of all, the owner is always upfront on his honest opinion on what should be done and doesn’t try to up-sell unnecessary maintenance. Highly recommend to anyone!
By far the best Toyota and Honda mechanics in the area. They have been a close family friend for my entire life. Brian and Steve run an incredible shop and ALWAYS make sure I am taken care of in a fair and timely fashion. I literally will never buy anything other than Toyota or Honda for the rest of my life simply because I never want to have to go to a different mechanic. The absolute best of the best.
I had my first experience with Foreign Auto Experts today, as they worked on my Nissan. I needed a new mechanic around the Columbia area, and had heard about them from a Howard Co social media group and a Google search. The two owners of Foreign Auto Experts were communicative, incredibly fair with pricing, and honest in what work needed to be done and what did not. I tried them out based on reviews saying they were honest and pricing was reasonable although not the cheapest around (according to others). Honestly I found the pricing amazing; they didn’t charge labor for what they considered something minor. I felt respected and would describe them as honest and fair. I highly recommend them and will be returning for future maintenance needs.
Not sure what else can be said that hasnt already been said. FAE is hands down one of the best neighborhood mechanic shops Ive seen in operation. Ive known Brian and Steve for 13 yrs now and during that time I cant tell you how many times Ive seen such happy and pleased customers that they service on a consistent basis. Working right next I often refer my customers to them for their import vehicle servicing as I know they will be well taken care of. Thank you Brian, Steve, Dusty and Will for all that you do and making me want to buy a Honda just so you guys can work on it!
These are my guys. Their expertise, honesty, integrity, fairness, courtesy, compassion, generosity, and kindness...are incomparable. I have been taking my Subarus to them for I dont know how long; decades. They go above and beyond. I TRUST them implicitly. I cant even recount all that they have done for me, but the real testament is this: when Im looking to replace a vehicle-which I did last week- I will only consider buying one that they will work on. My mechanics are more of a consideration than the actual vehicle. People were trying to convince me to buy a Ford, or a German car, etc. I said that I will only buy a car that my guys work on. And I did. They are the best. They take care of me at a moments notice. Or no notice. I depend on them. These are my guys. Look no further.
Took my car in on a recommendation from a couple worker. Now I understand why she is so loyal. I dropped my car off before work. Received an estimate before 1000 and was able to pick up my car by lunchtime. Ill be coming back.
These guys are the best!!. They do a great job and wont try to cheat you. They will tell you if a repair can wait and isnt needed immediately. They often do little minor fixes (wipers, plug a tire) without charging you a dime. Love both Brian and Steve.
Brian and Steve are our own local version of Click and Clack here in Maryland. I cant say enough good things about these two and the honest and reputable shop they have built. Honest, understanding, funny and good at diagnosing and repairing your automobile! I always leave with a smile on my face. I even look forward to hanging out in the louge area and enjoying some laughs with the other customers whom all feel just as good as I do knowing they are getting the best service possible. I recommend these guys to everyone.
I used to have my oil change at a dealership and the bill was always over $200 each trip, based on the technicians recommendations. I fell in love with this place after a referral from a church friend and have been taking my car there ever since. They are awesome and honest folks, and they only service Asian cars. The price is very reasonable - less than $40 for an oil change on my civic. Many of my friends also take their cars there. Highly recommended!
I have been using Foreign Auto Experts for over a decade and they have yet to disappoint. When people say that they are honest they are 100 percent correct. I went in today for an axle replacement however; when i called to give them my contact information for them to call me back when the car was finished. They called and said that my issue was not concerning and that it could wait until it really needed to be repaired. This has always been my experience with FAE and will continue to go there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Brian and Steve.
Guys in the shop do very good work and at very reasonable rates
These guys were excellent! They took great care of my car and were the first auto repair place I went to where I felt like they cared about me as a person and didnt just look at me like I was a sale. One such example is, they were able to fix a part that other mechanics told me I would have to be replaced. That saved me money and ensured my business for a long time right there. This is an auto mechanic that I trust!
This was my first time, but Im sold. My truck is running like new. They are great.
FAE resolved a wheel bearing issue for me. There was persistent metal/roar noise coming from the front left side of the vehicle. I initially thought it was brake pads, but further research determined it was a wheel bearing issue. I stopped by Friday at 3p and talked to Steve. Explained him what noises I heard and he decided to drive it around the block to diagnose the issue. He came back and said drop it and not drive it. He gave me an estimate and timeline to fix. He said I could drop off the keys in the slot over the weekend. I did so on Sunday and the car was fixed Monday by 10 am. The total was a bit more than the estimate provided but the price seemed competitive and I knew he would not add additional items to ‘work’ on like other mechanics. These guys are trusted, honest mechanics. I had arrived based on online reviews and the final product was to my satisfaction. I also asked questions on my other car (whether I needed alignment once I had new tires with a car w/ 67k miles, Steve said no but dealer said yes). I appreciate the quick turnaround. My only wish was they were open on weekends (they are currently not). They do seem very busy. Brian and Steve for the win.
Fair prices, friendly service, and guys that really care and know what theyre talking about. What more can you ask for?
Brian and Steve at Foreign Auto Experts are great guys and service cars like it should be done - with honesty and an obvious appreciation for cars and their owners! I have been going to Foreign Auto Experts since I started driving - over 20 years ago - and theyve provided awesome service and are the most trustworthy in the business - bar none!! My wife loves how honest and personable they are too - a true pleasure on a sometimes unpleasant occasion! My mother has been taking her cars there for longer - she used to live in Arbutus, so it was very convenient, but she now drives from Sparks, MD just for service from Foreign Auto Experts. Go there...you will never go anywhere else!
I have an older car and just wanted to make it safe to drive. They secured my battery and bumper free of charge because they only need to add a bit and a bolt. They look out for you and don’t over charge. That is why they are always busy.
Steve, Brian and their entire staff are awesome. I had an issue with the check engine light, they diagnosed it, turned it off and didnt charge me anything. Theyre honest and reasonably priced. Recently I had an issue with a suspension problem that was hard to figure out. Uncharacteristically, it took them a couple of tries but they treated me very fairly price-wise and its great now!
I am so thankful that someone recommended Foreign Autos to me a couple of years ago. I wont go anywhere else. They are honest and provide outstanding service!
I started going to Foreign Auto Experts in 1999. I keep moving farther away but its well worthwhile to make the effort to bring my car here for work. Theyve saved me thousands of dollars over the years and I know that theyll take good care of me and my family for reasonable costs. They are efficient, kind, straight-forward, and really good at fixing and maintaining cars. I highly recommend trusting this shop.
Steve and Brian are the most honest and trustworthy mechanics I have ever met. Theres nothing shady and they dont do unnecessary work to try and squeeze another dime out of you. Where else would you hear, your brakes squeak a little bit but, honestly, you should wait until the next oil change to do the work. When I was looking to buy a used car they insisted I bring to their shop first and let them inspect it...for free. These guys are honest and quality, hands down.
Brian and Steve have been servicing our vehicles since the 1990s. Love that they do whats needed, tell you what might be coming, and never over sell. Great service. Great advice. Trusted with our kids car. What made can I say?
My parents have used this place forever, and I have been coming here with every vehicle since my first car as a teenager some 20+ years ago. Brian and Steve and their team have helped me save so much money over the years, and kept my vehicles running safely and reliably. They are interested in fair business, no need to replace things that dont need replacing. If they let you know something needs to be done, you can rest assured with good faith and trust that they are certain this is essential for the longevity of the vehicle and safety for yourself and your family and everyone else on the road. I feel that anyone would be hard pressed to find better pricing or more accurate and fair assessments. They are absolutely a local hidden gem, and often quite busy, however they will always make time for you as soon as they can, so unless its an absolute emergency, its always worth the wait. If you have a foreign vehicle where dealer doesnt cover the maintenance for free, you want to bring it here for regular maintenance intervals.
Top notch HONEST service from veteran mechanics is all you get here! What else do you need! Ive been going here for 10 years. Numerous times I would go in saying I need certain things done, they would take a look at the car / under the hood / tires / brakes, and say no you dont need it now, next time. Any dealer will gladly take your money and do work you dont need. Not these guys. I wont take my car anywhere else.
Its been 2yrs, (moved out of state), but I liked them so much heres a review.Ive only ever owned Honda/Toyota vehicles and these guys were the shop you will drive an extra 1-2hours to use. So many dealers and other mechanics in the 10yrs we were down there but none of them compare to the accuracy, honesty, timeliness and price. Im just about to drive back to MD to buy a car. Guess who Ill use to do the independent inspection?
Awesome service, fair prices, and honest recommendations
Best in the business! Honest, friendly, and knowledgeable. Oh, and did I mention honest?!Brian and Steve are so trustworthy that Ive had them give me a second opinion from another shop where they were trying to swindle me. They saved me over a $1000 on unnecessary repairs!
These guys have always been top-notch every time!
I am so pleased to tell you that the brothers are honest and do not over charge. I have recommended them to so many of my friends and strangers too. Especially, if you do not know too much about cars. You can take it to them. Quick, reliable service.
I have been a customer for 20+ years. Work quality is equal to or better than the dealer shops at much fairer prices. They stand by any work performed. Make an appointment though, because the number of loyal customers keeps them BUSY. Great people, perform TLC on any Asian vehicles.
The staff at Foreign Auto Experts have always been upfront and honest with their assessments. The turnover of their work is excellent and their communication even better. Its obvious they value the relationship with their customers and will keep taking my vehicle there for these exact reasons.
Needing auto service, maintenance and/or repair for Honda vehicle? You MUST take your vehicle to FOREIGN AUTO !!! They know their stuff. Awesome customer service, workmanship, reliable AND honest!! You wont be disappointed.
My 2014 Toyota Corolla S, with 38k miles on it was having a problem turning over. The battery sounded good and the car was well maintained. Yet, in spite of a strong sounding battery, the engine wouldnt turn over. I called five repair shops and all of them either wanted to charge me money to diagnose it (and the diagnostic costs may or may not count towards the actual repair) or couldnt fathom a guess as to what the problem was. Bryan was the only one to offer a suggestion--a really simple one--that worked. Because he listened, where I really think the other ones didnt, he will get my business.
Have been going to FAE for 6 years now. Stand up guys running an honest shop where you never have to worry regardless of your level of car knowledge. Recommended for anyone in the DMV. Id probably come from out of state too if I had a reason to be in the area.
They’re the best!
These guys have been taking care of all my cars for years. They are honest and fair. I do not hesitate to do something they recommend as I know they only do what is necessary. Best mechanics I have ever had.
These guys are the real deal. They are honest and definitely looking out for the customer. Steve and the rest of the team really work hard to make sure you are 100% satisfied with the work.
I have know Steve and Brian for over 30 years. They have worked on my cars as well as several friends and family cars. Everyone I know has always been very happy with their work. I have even sent co-workers to them and been thanked for recommending them.
To echo many others, HONEST guys. Theyre not out to bleed the last dollar out of your wallet. I bring my two Infinitis and Nissan truck plus my sons Subaru to them and they have always been fast, reasonable and good. I had an exhaust leak in one car and they said I could replace the whole exhaust for a lot of money or I could bring it to an exhaust specialist they recommended who could patch it for less than $100. I chose that option and three years later the patch is still effective. How many other shops would do that? If you own a Japanese car, dont think about it, just bring it here. You will not be sorry.
Ive been consistently impressed with this auto mechanic shop over the years, they are honest, reputable, and all around good people. As a young, early 20s girl who frankly... doesnt know much about cars, I feel completely confident taking my vehicle here, knowing that they will not try and rip me off or sell me things I dont need.Heres a prime example: In the past several weeks, an icon appeared on the dash of my Honda Civic. I took it to these guys to check it out, turns out it had something to do with my seatbelt sensor. Apparently, seat belts are covered under a lifetime warranty with Honda - I did not know this. Steve kindly directed me to a Honda dealer so I could get this fixed for free and didnt charge me anything for running the diagnostics check. As if that wasnt amazing enough, one of the nearby Honda dealers (Ourisman Honda - I DO NOT recommend them), charged me $170 for running the same diagnostics check and wanted $730 to fix the seat belt. I promptly called Steve back and he PERSONALLY reached out to ODonnell Honda to confirm that this was covered under the Honda warranty and provided me an exact POC of who to speak with at the dealership. I am SO impressed with this business, they went the extra mile without receiving a penny - they will have my business forever.
These guys know Hondas. Honest and reliable mechanics that stand behind their work. I highly recommend them for working on your Honda, ask for Dusty.
20+ years of excellence, thats how long weve been going to these guys. They are fantastic, honest, and fair. I have more good stories in these many years than I can possibly relate, but maybe more importantly I dont have ANY bad stories. Theyve fixed things for free, theyve given me advice over the phone when I was too far away, and I believe theyve saved me a ton of money. For example, on two separate occasions they saved me hundreds of dollars when I pulled my car from some other shops and I got it to them to repair (both times the car was dead and these other shops were much closer to the breakdowns - one time I saved hundreds even after I paid extra towing charges).I truly believe they run their business with the attitude of being fair and honest, and make their money off of the returning, regular customers. In the waiting room, its clear that they personally know an awful lot of their customers. My wife and I highly recommend them!
Weve been using these guys for 20 years. They set the standard for integrity, honesty and quality. My (now grown) kids have been known to bring their cars from other states to Foreign Auto because they know Foreign Auto can be trusted.
They are a group of great guys. They always do an amazing job at a very fair price. I have referred many people to them because of this. I wouldnt take my car anywhere else.
These guys were great. I went there about 4-5 times and they were always quick, honest, professional, and did a really good job with my car. I was extremely happy with them!
Great service. Honest business
Brian and Steve are the best when it comes to speed and working only on what needs fixing. No overwork or upselling, just what you need at the right price so your not overspending.
Just called them on the phone. not the best customer services. the guy was not willing to listen to me, he hanged up on me. ive read good reviews about them but looks like well i didnt call on a good day. going somewhere else. will rather pay big money than deal with an angry man. all the best
Great, honest work is done every time. Much more reasonable than the dealerships, and they are quick in getting your car in and out.
Honest shop, quality workmanship and advice, and they use genuine parts. If you have a Honda, give them a call when you need repairs; you won’t be sorry.
Best place ever. They worked on all my cars for many years. Very honest and trustworthy company.
Best car repair place. Friendly. Very fair prices.
These guys are great. Prices are reasonable not absurd. Go to these guys for your auto needs.
FAE has been superb. I routinely take 2 Hyundais and a Honda to them. They take care of all my routine maintenance items as well as the occassional repair. Couldnt ask for a better set of guys.
Took my daughters car there (96 Civic) and they have been great to deal with as far as work and price. It is worth a million dollars to find a car repair shop you can trust. This is one.
Best vehicle services for all foreign cars. Been a customer for over 25 years.
Fair prices and friendly staff
HonestHonestHonest....Oh and they do great workWould not go anywhere else with my vehicles!
One good thing about this place is that they seem very accommodating. I walked in and was able to get an immediate oil change — I waited for about 30 minutes which is extremely reasonable. Although they did a great job on the oil change, the conversation that I heard between a white mechanic [WM] and Vietnamese man [VM] (who i think is also a mechanic, but I am not certain) made me extremely uncomfortable and was blanketed racism in a wool cloak.I overheared the WM ask the VM if he did anything for mother’s day, in which the VM responded along the lines of “we don’t celebrate many holidays in my culture”. The WM then went on to jokingly say (but we all know jokes have underlying truths) that the VM is American and if it wasn’t for America and America’s freedom he would still be stealing and/or picking rice bags back home in his country. I could hear the uncomfortable tone in the VM mans voice as he tried to divert the conversation. The WM then came back to the lobby to continue his joke with another one of his coworkers.Being an immigrant myself, it made me extremely uncomfortable to be sitting in an establishment where this type of negative and blanketed racist rheatoric is spewed.I have experienced microaggressions before and it is always difficult to know how to react in such situations. I commend the VM man for keeping his cool and not angrily responding (although he would be justified in doing so). Immigrants built this country, so if it wasn’t for the hard work of immigrants, then people like that WM wouldn’t have the freedom to spew such a inappropriate remark. Next time you think of spewing such negative words, think of the immigrants that helped give you to the freedom to do so before insuing such hurtful comments. The customer service was nice, but the oil change was pricy ($55.25). If I didn’t hear what I heard, I would probably still support this place. Be careful where you take your business and take a good look at your morals before you come here. If you don’t think it’s a big deal or you don’t care, then fine — but you’re probably privileged.
Two years ago, the Honda dealership charged me $250 to scan my car to determine what the problem was with my 2001 Honda Civic. They said it would cost me $400 to fix, plus an additional $200 to scan the car again to make sure that was actually the right fault. In addition, they listed $2500 in repairs that were needed for the suspension, ball joints, etc. I started looking for another option. I brought it in to FAE and told my story. Steve said, What? You want to drive it, not restore it! We got you...$200 later, all issues were fixed and they have been taking care of both my cars ever since and have been very happy.
Excellent, prompt service.
These guys are awesome and prices are very fair! 😊
The most honest group of mechanics I have ever met! I have been a customer of theirs for over 15 years.
Brian and Steve are always helpful and very trustworthy when it comes to repairing your car.
Acura service gave me an estimate of $2200 for oil pump reseal and control arm bushes. I took the car here and they showed me i didnt need either of them. Very honest people
Steve and Brian are the most honest and reliable mechanics I have ever known. Would never take any of our vehicles any place else.
I took my Mitsubishi Outlander to get new tires. The guys there do great honest work.
Brian and Steve do a great job. Ive been taking vehicles to them for years. Theyve worked on Hondas, Toyotas, Subarus and a Mazda for me. Never have I been disappointed. Honest work at a very fair price, and they go the extra mile to make sure were always satisfied.
Excellent fast service at a reasonable price
The customer service is like no other! Theyre extremely honest and dont try to force you into unnecessary repairs for ridiculous prices. I will never go to another auto repair shop again!
Brian and Steve are fair and honest. They have served our family for over 20 years.
This is the most honest car repair shop I have ever been to.
Quick fix, excellent service and price.
