This location is by far THE WORST store of its chain of stores. There is a revolving door of optometrists so you never see the same doctor twice. There is always at least a 45min wait past your appt time. (So why bother making an appt?) While all the staff arent very knowledgeable in their positions, one person stands out - and not in a good way. She is an older woman, short red hair. She has treated myself, and my two daughters, with such disrespect its appalling. My teenage daughter decided to try contacts. At our instructional appt ( for $80 ) this woman told my daughter that if she didnt get the contacts in correctly that it would be very painful for her and she wouldnt be able to see. I had to stop her at this point as my daughter was now in tears and didnt want contacts anymore. Instructional appt?!!, more like destructional. At this location the inmates are definitely running the asylum.

I went in earlier this year and got my glasses. When I wore them my vision seemed worse than without. I figured I just needed to give it time and my eyes would adjust to the prescription. That didn’t happen... So I scheduled a follow up with the Dr and explained to him my issue and he was rude and said the prescription was correct and he didn’t know what I wanted him to do. Ummm I am the one looking through the lenses and I know what I see. The prescription is not right so fix it! So unprofessional. Advise for the Doctor: Listen to your patient and take pride in making things right.

I would never recommend this place to anybody. I decided to give this place a shot although the reviews were bad. Unfortunately it was as bad as others said. The doctor got my prescription completely wrong the first time, and when I went back for a second exam I explained to him how the glasses weren’t correct, and he said rudely “ you just didn’t like them”. Then he huffed and puffed through the second exam. When I picked up the glasses they still weren’t perfect but they told me I’d get use to them. It’s been a few months and I’m having a lot of headaches and can’t see very well. I am going to have to pay out of pocket for another exam from a different company since this used my insurance visit for the year. The front desk was very nice and helpful and I had no issues with them. Also the woman who did the tests before I saw the doctor was wonderful. But I suggest you find another doctor that is easier and better to work with.

RUN!!!....The Dr. is a joke.I started using the location for my eye care when I relocated to the valley in 2015. They are a block from my home and accept my vision insurance.I have enjoyed the girls up front and they have always handled my issues with a smile. This morning was a return visit to re-exam me because the new glasses that I picked up a week earlier were horrible. They were worse than my vision without glasses at all. This makes the fourth issue with the glasses (out of 5 pair) I have purchased there. Wrong fit, wrong prescription, poor quality frames that broke in the same place three times, transitions that start on the horizon line and force me to look lower to see far, etc...I always gave them the benefit of the doubt because they were always so accommodating with all the remakes over the years. My exam to correct the wrong prescription this time was set for 10:45 am.I arrived early in hopes of getting taken in early for my issues. That was the opposite of the case. I waited 50 minutes past my scheduled time before I was called back and could not believe the Doctor not only did NOT apologize for the wait but was a total jerk to me and made it clear this was putting him out to figure out what my problem was. I could not believe the unprofessional behavior of this man. He treated me like I was a idiot and was totally condescending. I immediately called him out on his poor behavior and he replied that he is not even an employee of Nationwide and that he was an independent contractor and that he had nothing to do with the error with my glasses. That was the boiling point for me and I told him he was representing Nationwide vision and that his bedside manner was unacceptable and he should not work under their roof if he cant treat their patients with any kind fo respect. That was the last straw for me.After I get my pair of glasses that actually work for me, I will NEVER return to this company. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the girls out front and they were cautiously apologetic. Now that I have had my share of frustration with this office, I come on here to write a review and read that I am only one of many people with similar issues....so sad I gave them my business and money over the years. I will be amazed if these glasses are finally delivered without issue...

The office staff are really friendly and try their best to satisfy your experience however, my experience wasnt so good from the exam standpoint. They never got my prescription correct after 2 eye exams and waiting 2 weeks for my glasses to arrive.( 1 week after each exam) My gut feeling was telling to Run Forrest Run! So I did, and received a refund for the 2 pair that I ordered but not for the bad exams. They should have given me a full 100% refund! I would NOT recommend this office for you or your childrens exam.

The eye doctors here are very nice and sweet. Other than that there is nothing else that I could say good . I had paid out of pocket the full amount for contacts and to get an eye exam for glasses . I have a stigmatism that’s pretty bad so, I was told I could never use Contacts when I was younger . But because of the technology has Advance, I was able to get contacts . Finally and was very happy and excited. I still had to go back-and-forth to the doctors and change my prescription about three or four times which was fine with me because I rather have the patience and get the prescription as close as I can for my vision the doctors were really sweet and kind and patient. The last time I went to see the doctor about my prescription I told her I could see perfectly she told me to still wear it for about a week and then to make an appointment to go back and I am a mother of four kids so I really don’t have time for myself and the doctor knew that so she told me instead of having to make another appointment since they have seen me so many times if I think the prescription is really good and I am happy with it all I have to do all I have to do is call The office and tell the one that’s in charge that the doctor told me I could just have the prescription and that she was going to make a note in my file letting them know as well that she is approving it. Well I had some family issues like I said I am a mother of four kids . I was not able to call the office or to go pick up the prescription. I had already paid for the prescription so I thought at any time just like anything else you paid for I could just call them have them either email me back said or go pick up the prescription for the contacts . I had spoken to the manager at this nationwide vision she told me my file is locked in that she could not give me the prescription to my contacts until I pay again the full amount for contacts . I had let her know what the doctor said and that I had already paid the full amount and I feel that that is a complete rip off if I paid for service I should be able to have the prescription . So I never got the contact prescription I will not be using this nationwide vision again or recommend it to anyone . I have never had a problem with nationwide vision like this I have been going to nationwide vision centers I was in high school.

This is the worst facility I have ever been to. The Dr. conducting the exam was fine. Front office is the worst. I worked as an optical dispenser in Scottsdale and we never ran our offices like this one. You pay for a prescription but they dont want to give it to you. It took me 3 times to get my prescription for exams that were paid for. Then when I look at the prescription when I got home, theres no PD (pupillary distance)! Without this you cant purchase glasses online. Your company can not be happy about that fact that there are cheaper places to get glasses from but to purposefully try and stop customers from purchasing elsewhere is a disgrace. Plus your prices are too high. I will never ever recommend to anyone. Costco and Walmart do a way better job!

First time coming into Nationwide vision. I ordered new frames. One week later i received a call that they were in. came to pick them up and they were not even close to the frame i ordered. So they fixed the mistake and another week goes by and I get another call saying that the glasses are done. I go into pick them up, things are looking better, right? WRONG. So they got the frames right this time but do not have the extras I ORDERED and PAID for. Now I have to wait ANOTHER week for my frames. Asked if they can put a rush on them? lady says NOPE there is nothing they can do but send them back. This place is absolutely ridiculous 3-4 weeks for frames give me a break. Apparently my time that i have spent going back and forth for 3 weeks now is not a big deal to them. Well it is, Save your self the hassle and go somewhere else.

I have been bringing my family to this Nationwide Vision location for the past fifteen years. The staff have always been professional and friendly. We have had nothing but courteous treatement from the doctors, manager and the staff. They remember their patients from visit to visit and greet you when you come in the door. I imagine with an open desk work space much of their patient business is not as private as some might like, but I cant imagine a scenario where any of them would have been rude to a customer.

I would not recommend going here. I had an eye exam and was told because the facility didnt have a lab it would take 2-3 weeks to get my new frames and lenses. This wouldnt have been an issue but my prescription had changed quite a bit. They offered me the opportunity to expedite my frames for $25 a pair. I thought this was ridiculous because it was $600 for the eye exam and 2 frames I picked out. After I asked for my prescription so I could go somewhere else the sales person told me she would wave the expedition fee because the lenses were pre cut. I finally agreed. I was never given my prescription either after requesting it. I waited a week and called back to be told I would have them the first half of the week. I called back today to be told that I am still 6 days out from them arriving.... this puts me at the 3 week mark. What a scam! I am so disappointed by this and the way the staff is handling things. At this point I have requested a refund and my prescription, which I am entitled to as it is a part of medical records and I would like to just go somewhere else. I have been told they will look into it, wish me luck! I recommend going somewhere else. Most places can handle this in hours or days.... not weeks.

I ordered a box of 6-month disposable contacts. They are the wear one month and toss kind. Well, after the first month, 4 of the 6 pairs ripped in half within 2 days of using them. I called and explained the situation to the office, and they said they were not allowed to help me, or reimburse me, due to being passed their 30 day warranty period. I was less than 2 weeks over the 30 day warranty. How can they sell a 6 month supply of something, and only warranty it for 30 days? Didnt make sense to me, and the office had no answer for me except, Im sorry. Clearly there was a fault in the product. I have never had so many contacts rip so quickly.

This place is honesty one of the worst eye care facilities I have been too. The staff is no help at all. Reina, the manager does not know how to handle situations that come up. She doesn’t not know how to except that she is wrong and will argue with customers. Her accent is very prominent and it’s very hard to understand what she’s saying. Along with her the PSR Juan does not have good customer service skills. He talks really slow to the point that it’s hard to understand what he’s saying. I asked him simple questions about my insurance coverage and he didn’t know how to answer any of them. All I got was “Umm...I think...ummm...i don’t know” the only people who were helpful was the young lady who conducted all my pre-testing, she actually answered my questions and clarified insurance coverage even though I’m sure that’s not her job. She was also speedy and accurate, I could tell she knew what she was doing. The doctor was also very friendly, but when I went back, it was a different doctor. They don’t have a permanent doctor at this Nationwide. This place needs a change in staff.

I was in this location with my daughter this past Monday. I had read the reviews, but decided to give them a shot because they could get her in the same day. When we were there, I felt like they treated us well and really cared about my concerns as a parent. I got a call not even two days later that my daughters glasses were in and I was shocked! I am overall extremely pleased with the staff and care we received. The only downfall to the place is the seating for customers is a little small and even with an appointment we had to wait an hour to be seen. It is totally worth the wait though!

Never before have I wished I could give a place ZERO stars, until making the mistake of coming here. The entire office was filthy and smelled awful. Someone had clearly uses the facilities during the day and made the entire office smell. Im not sure about other peoples hygiene habits, but I dont think there should be visible dirt & prominent smells in a place where you are supposed to stick your fingers in your eyes etc. When I took my contacts out I was given a case to put them in. The case was clearly dirty and had hard water spots & a hair in it. When I asked the women at the front desk if I could pay my $10 copay before the exam they said no, they charge afterwards. This should have been my FIRST sign something was wrong. After the mediocre eye exam (which was performed by someone who clearly didnt have that much experience) I went out to pay my copay which was now $60! They said I needed to pay cash for a contact exam because my insurance only covered an eye exam. This is a classic case of the employees telling you whatever you want to hear in order to get you in the office and gauge you. ON TOP of this, they apparently dont know how to write a contact prescription without a contact fitting and do not keep contacts in stick for said fitting so they had to order them. This means they want me to come BACK into the office and waste more of my time before I can even get the prescription I need or the contact exam that I paid for. Unbelievable. This place is horrible, go to Costco instead and get all of this done same day for a flat $60.00 in a clean office, by a competent doctor and staff. I will be filing complaints with the OIG AND BBB this week.

The staff was unprofessional at the front desk. They did not know what they were doing in regards to my paperwork. Something happened with the computers, and my exam had to be done on paper instead of in the ccomputer and everyone, doctor included, was very put out. He rushed through the exam, asked me vague questions and got visibly frustrated when I didnt have the specific answer he was looking for. He asked me to try on contacts in the bathroom (wtf? Gross!) And then got even more visibly frustrated with me when I said I wear colored contacts because hed have to change everything. Well, perhaps you should ask that type of question instead of assuming.Lastly, they wanted me to test out the prescription for a week before theyd commit to saying what my new prescription is. But, wanted ME to commit to the prescription and order 6 months worth of contact lenses that day of that prescription!! (Non refundable, btw.) WTF!! when I told the Latina lady I would not buy the contacts when the prescription isnt a for ssure thing yet, she was visibly mad that I had wasted her time.I will never go to a nationwide vision center ever again. Worst service. And I do not trust the 5 minute exam that the doctor gave me.

As the doctor at Sonoran Desert Eye Center, I came across the review that criticized Nationwide. I appreciate the support this patient gives to our office, but I want to write a few words in support of Nationwide Vision.Nationwide Vision is the largest provider of eyecare in Arizona because of the excellent care and value it provides patients. The staff and doctors at Nationwide have always been friendly, helpful, and competent, and nearly all patients speak positively of their experience there. We appreciate Nationwides good care of our mutual patients. It is impossible to please all patients and one negative review does not reflect the overall experience of most patients. Some patients do better at one type of eyecare provider than others. Thank goodness there is a variety of options available to accommodate the variety of patients expectations.
