Extremely shady company. Will lie to you to get your service and then you are stuck. First, signed up a few years ago and was told as long as we had the service for 2 years if we were to move we would leave the equipment and they would install new equipment free of charge. That was a lie, I had to get/finance all new equipment at my new home. This time, I was told that I was not in a contract but that at anytime I wanted to cancel I would have to pay the remaining balance of my equipment off. Another lie. I just called them to see how much longer I had on my equipment and he told me I was in a 5 year service contract and it wouldn’t be paid until then. Uhh what?!?! I would have NEVER put myself in a contract that long. Apparently when the guy was having me do all these automated signatures that was one of them I signed. News to me! To cancel will cost me thousands of dollars at this point. AS SOON as my contract is done I’m leaving. I have absolutely no respect for a company that lies to get customers. Really shows how much integrity they have. I highly suggest you stay away from them unless you want to be blindsided as well.
Stood up for the 3rd time for repair service. Wasting our time waiting for service is terrible service. 3 TIMES! See my email, have a supervisor call me. Even after posting here, and thinking you would would get this resolved, CPI failed, again.
What as to be a free upgrade has cause a million headaches they lie to you have talk back and for for about five months and noone but very unprofessional people have handle my issue leaving it still not settled ...... Ive been told for weeks it would be taking care of but after 3 months of promises it still not . Noone at the local numbers will do anything to resolve my issue .......
This is one of the most shadiest companies that i have ever dealt with. I`ve moved in almost 5 months ago and this company still hasnt delivered the products that were paid for. Unless you subscribe for their monthly plan(thats how they make their commission), they dont really care to help you out. Stay away from CPI!!!
We have nothing but issues with CPI since our installation. First, the wall chase that was installed was not done correctly and rendered useless. We consistently have problems with your remote keypad, cameras not working, and the list goes on. When I call for support it takes forever to get a response on the phone. Today, I called shortly after 10am and decided for them to call me back because of 59 min hold time. Here we are 5 hours later with no call. We are awfully close to having them come get their equipment from the yard and going with another company that cares about their customers. Absolute garbage of a service!

I had previously been with CPI Security for many years with both my home and my business. When a new company offered a better product, I decided to cancel my service with CPI. I cant tell you how difficult this has been. Every time I tried to speak with the cancellation department, I would get disconnected. It literally happened almost six times. I finally did get disconnected after filing a complaint with the BBB. My business account has been disconnected for two months now and CPI is still pulling the automatic draft out of my bank account. I have tried for two days to get someone on the phone in the cancellation department and each time, I get cut off. Even after asking the person to stay on the line and wait for someone to answer, I get cut off. In addition, I have asked on both occasions for the representative to call me back if I get disconnected. Today, I spoke with LaSandra and she promised she would both stay on the line and call me back if I get disconnected. Of course, neither happened. CPI has clearly developed a companywide protocol to keep people from cancelling their service. This has happened to me during at least eight phone calls with them. I would not recommend CPI to anyone for this reason.
We have had an outstanding experience with CPI. Our technician was Javier and he was great! He was on time (actually early), clean, organized, asked thoughtful questions as he set up the alarm, made sure I understood everything, helped me set up my online access and my app on the phone. He finished in a very timely fashion, kept me updated on his progress and alerted me before he started testing the system. Outstanding experience. Its been a week and I had a few questions on the functionality of my doorbell camera. I called Ashley at the Customer Service center in Charlotte. She was so helpful! We worked through some of the settings until the system functioned as designed. She stayed on the phone with me until it was working perfectly. I have been so pleased with how simple and effective the CPI security system has been. Appreciate having GREAT customer Service which is hard to find these days! THANK YOU!
Have CPI in our home ( free equipment with contracts) when we decided we didn’t care for the monitoring we had it disconnected. They came and took power supply so nothing works. I’ve called to see if there’s a way I could still get some use out it. The lady was rude and said no and as I was still talking she says “ thank you bye bye” and hangs up. There is a bunch if stuff stuck in my house that is useless. This is not “ free equipment “ it’s trash
My representative was awesome. Please forgive me for not using your name, young lady but trust that it isnt because you missed the mark. This young ladys customer service skills are top notch!!! She was kind and EXTREMELY patient; I heard in her voice that she cares about what shes doing. I appreciate the fact that she didnt try to fake or wing her way through assisting me.....she wasnt afraid to get tech support involved. When I still couldnt get things done on my side she offered to send a technician to me. I AM SO IMPRESSED!!!!! Great job, to the hiring manager...you nailed it and hired a true gem!!!!! Awesome job, young lady.....kudos to doing your job extremely well; my hats of to you!!!!
Eric Vernier is the greatest! I wanted to talk about new products and didn’t know what was available. He took his time on the walk through and gave me options to think about. I was able to make informed decisions without pressure to buy something. I highly recommend Eric and CPI. I have been a customer for over 20 years.
I have been trying to cancel service for 2 months -have been told several times that I will receive a call back but have never received a call back. Have been on hold 40 minutes and nearly 2 hours unable to get a live person on the phone. The only way to cancel is to talk to a live person. My home just sold, and is no longer in my name, no one will answer my call to let me cancel but a live person always picks up to sell me service -when i say i need to cancel they always send me to the cancellation department that never answers.I am now being charged $40 monthly for service at an address that i no longer live at or own. How is this legal??? I am reaching out to BBB today.

I like it. Would like it a lot more if they would get my 2 outside cameras put in! I understand about the rain and bad weather, but it has been nice the last 2 days! They are supposed to be here Saturday, but the weather man says rain again!They got my cameras installed! Now Im loving it! I feel secure and safe with my alarm system!Got my cameras installed and they are doing a great job! Im feeling safe and secure with my new alarm system!
I changed my security program to CPI because I was having problems with my former program. My salesperson, Buddy Milks, explained the new program to me in very precise terms. I especially like the fact that I can open my house lock without using a key. This fact makes it easy to enter easily when bringing in groceries or other packages.
If I could give less than 1 star I would, they deserve none. The initial phone call went well, booked appointment for 5/14 got appointment confirmed. Took time off work. Waited, waited, waited...no one showed up to install the system we ordered (which they had already billed us for). I had to call them to find out that the tech had called out sick that day and no one had bothered to call and let us know. So, we give them another chance but I book instead for a Saturday two weeks out on 6/1 (tomorrow). I found it odd I never got a confirmation email/call anything. I have to call on 5/31 to find out myself that we are NOT on the schedule and neither do they intend to add us. You would think after dropping the ball they would be concerned to keep us as customers. NOPE. We are done. If they cant even set up the system how can I trust that their security monitoring is up to par?! What a joke.

At first my experience with CPI was positive,The sales process and installation went smoothly.I was told that I would own the equipment if I signed the 3 and a half year contract.I went along with this and figured I would pay the high monthly monitoring rates to subsidize the equipment. This pricing model is common in security systems similar to the cell phone industry.Over time I decided I wanted to find a more reasonably priced monitoring service. I figured since I owned my equipment I could just cancel my service and sign up with another company.When I called CPI, I was told that there was fine print in the contract and they owned the control panel, and that I only owned the sensors.They scheduled to have a technician come get the panel. I removed the panel and left it on the front porch for the tech.Unfortunately, It gets worse.When I called and cancelled, they told me they couldnt stop the auto payment that would draft a few days later and they charged me an extra month that I didnt receive service for.I was told they would refund that charge.It has been 2 months and I still havent received that refund.Had I know that I didnt own the control panel, there is no way I would have agreed to pay their inflated monitoring rates for as long as I did.I could have bought a new control panel every year for what they charged.I would give zero stars if google would allow it.

Customer service representatives are courteous, technician was professional and pleasant. Pleased with this service overall and issue was fixed in a timely manner. I wish service call window was a bit easier for customer to plan around — narrowing to a two hour window would be easier than a 4-5 hour window.
After a snowstorm knocked out our power, our alarm system was slow to recover its normally robust performance, beeping intermittently throughout the day and night, and refusing to reset. CPI phone agents have worked patiently and methodically with me In a few simple phone conversations to uncover the glitch and restore my system fully...and all without having to stay home and wait on a service-person to arrive! I have been a CPI customer for six years. They’ve become like a family to me. I had a very good experience today with CPI. The young man was very helpful, and answered all my questions. So I am a home security business owner myself in the State of Iowa. I was in Greensboro North Carolina for the women’s NCAA sweet sixteen basketball tournament when I had a day in between games to kill. So I decided to go to the local home show and the Greensboro Coliseum. I was excited to check out the home security companies there. This is where I ran into Eric with CPI Security. I was secret shopping him at first but then revealed to him that I was in the industry. This began a 30 min conversation about the business. Eric and his co-workers were so great to talk with and bounce ideas off of. If I lived out here they would be on the top of my list of security installers to use. There knowledge and professionalism was second to none. Highly reccommend CPI Security and I only met the guys for 30 minutes.
Totally disappointed in the “installer” sent! He tracked red mud on brand new carpet & on a bath mat just opened that was a wedding gift!! He finally put on one, not two, bootie, but he destroyed our brand new carpet! Then he discovers he doesn’t have the correct stuff to complete the install & told me I had to call to re-schedule!?! Seriously?!?
The radio system lost connection and they called me to check on things which made me aware of the problem and then stayed in touch to let me know when communication was restored. I’ve always appreciated CPI’s Proactive communication and look forward to continued good service. The person who contacted me as well as the person who answered my call to follow up and make sure everything was re-connected properly we’re both very polite and helpful .

CPI, I have called and my daughter has called to no avail..Poor customer service, SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN HERE July 10, 2019 here we are on September 18 TH, 2019 AND NOT ONE PHONE CALL HAS BEEN RECD HERE AT MY HOME AT ALL..my system is all messed up..I am due another camera at no charge.... I am very very disappointed in CPI and your services !! I just spoke to a an agent and he stated a technician was scheduled to be here on September 25, 2019..lets see if that happens..

Buddy Milks helped us with our home security needs. He took the time to get to know us, our home and our area. Was not over the top sales just very down to earth and caring. He is a huge advocate for safety not only for homes but for our community. Buddy even went out of his way to help us with speeders on our road. Got the attention of the local police and we have seen a hug difference. Buddy cares about his people and will do everything he can to make you feel safe.
Service tech Jay came to repair my keypad. Just so happens while he came I had another company installing a gas log fireplace. He took the time to go over safety equipment that would be beneficial to me with having a gas log fireplace in my home. His service is kind courteous and professional. I was nervous about having gas in my house but now I feel completely confident that my family is safe. Full filled my 3 year contract and wanted me to sign a new 5 year commitment and I refused. CPI claims the product is yours but after 3 years they will not give you the program code. Not giving you the code allows CPI to retain control of your system after your contract is over. I cant add any extra modules to my system. Now after CPI is refusing to let me use MY system, I have found that there is actually cheaper monitoring service as low as $8.95 per month. I am glad CPI made me look elsewhere for a better affordable company.
Jay came out to fix our security system (which our back door lock has never worked after other repair men left) Jay stayed and let me lock and unlock the door from my cell phone. He tested the system to make sure everything was working correctly. He went beyond the call of duty. I think he is really an asset to your company.
Mike, the salesperson, was outstanding in explaining the services and reasons why I should change from my previous security system. Followed up after the sale and delivered everything he promised. Curtis, the installer, arrived on promised day and time, walked us through what he was going to do, installed al components professionally, educated us on functions of system, and even left his cell number encouraging us to call him personally if we had questions after installation! Like most people, I hate change but this is one change I am glad I made to CPI Security in Greensboro!! Highly recommend them!!
The woman I spoke with in Customer Care was amazing. She was very polite and understanding and adjusted my bill from where the guy who helped install my services told us one thing and charged another.

This is my third house protected by CPI Security. They offer great systems and outstanding customer service. If you need an alarm system with home automation you need to give CPI a call.
I changed my WiFi network to a Velop mesh system. I spoke to Lee in tech support and this guy is phenomenal. He was able to link my security system into my Velop system. I hope CPI keeps guys like Lee on the team, his knowledge and know how is invaluable. Things like this is what keeps me as a CPI customer.
They always have quick and friendly service. Jay G. came out a few days ago and was very knowledgeable and friendly. Weve had a tech out a couple of times over the years and have never had an unpleasant experience.

Before CPI, we had a different security service (also three letters - you can guess who). We never ever heard from them unless we initiated a contact. When we tried to end the service after many years, they ignored our calls and emails. I will never deal with A** again. CPI has been a great experience, by comparison. If there is any fault detected, low battery, disabled sensor, etc., they call immediately. Service calls are prompt and resolve issues quickly. We get quarterly calls to test the system. Also, the CPI app allows us to check the status instantly and set the alarm remotely. We are very pleased with our service!

Had representative come to see about upgrading to newer system. After reviewing the proposal, I called to make changes. Representative on phone had a completely different story.After being treated like this I went to see how to get out of the contract. Well, you cant easily. It seems the contract renews automatically unless you notify CPI at least 60 days ahead of the expiration, by certified mail. I am going to notify them by certified mail now, 2 years before the auto-renew. And, why would anyone allow a company to automatically deduct a payment from their checking account? If you pay with credit card you can control what happens, not the vendor.
From sales to installation to one fantastic alarm system.Eric, your salesman and I sat down about a, month before I agreed to get the CPI system.Why did I choose CPI? Because after much research it had the consistent better reviews.So, we sat down and picked through the menu and placed my order.Last week Ryan, installer, did a professional job of installation; even cleaning-up after putting the hardware in. Oh, and while Ryan was here he made a suggestion of more sensors that seemed very appropriate.I had a question and called your help desk inCharlotte and also Eric. Both had exactly the same answer for my getting the cameras on line.Now, I finally got my internet installed from AT&T and I can view my cameras along with controlling everything else.CPI, you have satisfied the Geek in me....and my family feels secure.

I am not happy with there customer service they in no way try to work or help you. If your business happens to move before contract is up be prepared to pay a lot to have it transferred. I would not recommend them to anyone.

We cant say enough good things about the service weve received from the CPI folks here in Greensboro. My wife and I recently renovated our new home and friends recommended CPI for our security system. Our salesman John Evans was awesome right from the start. Its pretty amazing how advanced these systems have come since our last purchase 17+ years ago. John spent a lot of time with us, answered all our questions (some multiple times) and made it a point to be here for our installation to make sure they got it right. Speaking of installation, Curtiss exceeded expectations and did a great job. I was planning to be at home but was unable to due to a last minute business trip. Curtiss made my wife very comfortable, was very knowledgeable and walked her through the features of the new system. CPI is the best for security and customer service. They answer promptly and walk you through whatever you need.
CPI will promptly setup an automatic payment and immediately start taking money from your account, but the process to cancel their service is grueling. If you want new service a customer representative is always available, but if you want to cancel youll get an answering machine and must wait weeks to get a call back if your lucky. Then youll be required to send them a special letter in the mail indicating your wish to cancel. Ive been going through this process for months and they are still charging my checking account even though the house is no longer occupied. STAY AWAY from these vultures!

For the most part I am extremely satisfied with the system. The only complaint thus far is the time it takes to get a notification on my phone when the system sends an alert or when the system locks the door and is armed. Takes too long for me.

We just had our system installed today. Joe McCorkle was the installation technician and did a superb job finding places to place all the equipment we ordered and explained everything as he went through the total install. Michael Vaughn was our sales technician and was the main reason we chose CPI. Michael is very knowledgeable and not only demonstrated how the system would work, but also gave us detailed instructions on how to use the system once it was installed. The person at the home office, we dont remember his name, that showed us how to react when we are on line for a trouble situation was terrific. We had trouble getting the app on my wifes phone and after we called the main office we got some information that was very helpful so the customer service was great as well. Although we still had a problem with the phone, Michael came by after I called him and help us figure out that we had a problem with the phone app, not the CPI app. All is working fine so far and we are grateful and thankful for the feeling of safety that CPI now affords us.

Called CPI to set up an install. They never showed up. Their local sales rep showed up later that evening to see how the install went. Told him his people never showed up so we cancelled and already had an appointment with ADT. He said we could cancel them too and still go with CPI. I told him that we wanted the install and the glass break and control panel free and no contract. He agreed to all these things. After they installed I had him come in to talk to me at my office, which he did. He then stated that they had a 39 month contract. I said that at my residential I had no contract which he stated that I had signed one for my house too. This guy was lying to me to begin with, my wife signed the contract via Docu-sign on her phone and never knew that he said no contract. VERY misleading. There are security companies out there with NO contracts!!

Cpi gave me prompt service, very efficient and very helpful in every step ! Bryant was my rep and he did all he could to accommodate my needs and schedule ! The installer, made sure all my request were met, and provided much needed info ! Great company, great workers !

After ADT lied to us and tried to bilk us, luckily a friend recommended Bryant Reeser with CPI (its been a couple years now). Recently, we needed a contact replaced and added a doorbell camera, too. Our representative was OUTSTANDING!!! He was professional, timely and respectful of our home/structure. Cant say enough good things about our dealings with CPI!
We joined via Representative Jason Speer, highly recommend his expertise and he personally came to be sure the install went well and made sure we understood how our system worked before leaving, of course with his business card in hand! What started out as a horrible customer service experience last week (I asked the installer to pick up his stuff and leave my house) turned into a great experience for me when I called John Evans (who helped me design my system originally during construction). Thanks to John, everything is back on track for a successful installation.
