Absolutely great breakfast food! But their oatmeal with blueberries on top was the best oatmeal I’ve ever had! Waitress was very friendly. Prices are fair. Will definitely come here again the next time we are in town. Don’t mind the paper plates, the dish washer was broken so they had to use paper.

Diner? Nope not at all. This tiny little restaurant definitely is not a diner, but more like a wannabe eclectic joint. I had 2 amazing items from the menu but unfortunately the low key raw meat/sewage smell and grimy feel, just makes me not want to go back. PLUS ITS PRICEY! We had an appetizer, 2 entrees, a kids meal, and only water and it was close to $50. If the place didnt smell and felt cleaner, I probably wouldnt wine about the cost...just being honest.Plus ...the waitress was very busy but attentive and kind. The cook came out to apologize to another guest for an overcooked salmon which was very nice to see.Oh wait you probably want to know what was good huh? The fried goat cheese balls were so incredible. Warm, comfort food at its best. Also the chicken pot pie turnover was absolutely delicious. Another feel good food!

The food was very good. I had the Salmon BLT. My only complaint is that I think the salmon needed a little more seasoning. But everything was fresh and crisp. And the fries are fresh cut and fried and were good. If you want fresh made to order tasty food, I recommend this place.

Weve been waiting for Iron Hen to open for a year and it finally did! UNFORTUNATELY its not the same as before. Gone are the days of good service and food. Twice I had to send back my eggs and still not made right. The flat top was way too high to cook eggs and came out burnt each time. Had to ask numerous times for coffee refills. One order wasnt complete & asked for the remainder of the dish, as stated on the menu. Never received that either. Needless to say itll be a while before we try them again

Went for breakfast on a Sunday. Be prepared, the place is packed then. Waited around 30 minutes too be seated. I had the omelet with smoked salmon, the wife had the old mill grits bowl. Both were great and hot when brought out. Salmon was smoky and bacon tasting and the local goat cheese was super creamy. The wifes over easy eggs were perfectly cooked on her grit bowl. Will be back for a more thorough review once Im done with this stupid low carb diet.

The wife and I stopped in for some lunch at this small, cozy local favorite off of Wendover Rd. We ordered the eggroll trio for our appetizer and it was ok. The pimento cheese filled and the barbeque filled eggrolls were good but the eggrolls filled with greens needed a little work. Our Shrimp and grits entrees were very good! We took home two slices of chocolate chess pie...no words to describe how good the pies were! Overall, we enjoyed our experience and look forward to coming back and trying out their breakfast menu as we are still hearing a lot of great things about their other menu items from the staff of the nearby Dunkin Donuts.

Ive wanted to try Iron Hen Cafe for a while as the menu and the pictures are very enticing. Unfortunately, my husband and I chose to go on a Sunday and the overall experience was a bit disappointing. We arrived and signed in for the wait at 10:45AM. We waited until 11:25 to be seated at the bar as we figured writing down first available versus indoor or outdoor preference would be faster. Our server was really nice and she got our drinks immediately. We knew something was off when people who sat down after us got their food. However, at around 11:45, she let us know that she never put in our orders. She apologized profusely, put in the order immediately, and comped our drinks (coffee, dirty chai latte, and bloody mary). I dont necessarily blame the server as the whole place was insanely busy and she was very nice, but perhaps this goes to show that more staff is needed as every staff member was non-stop moving. We didnt get our food until 12:10 and at this point, we were very hunger.I ordered the Blueberry Pancakes and my husband ordered the Grilled Country Ham Benedict, both of which were good, but not anything extraordinary or necessarily worth the amount of time we waited. We acknowledge that we probably came on the busiest day of the week, but as our first experience there, it did not make a good impression.Hopefully if and when we come back on a weekday, our experience will be more pleasant.

Nice cozy place to grab a quick meal. I had the Ruben; and its true to what a basic Ruben is and nothing more. The tomato soup is different due to the coconut cream but tasty. However, the crab cakes were a hit and highly recommend. Have to agree with another reviewer about the devil eggs; cooked well but bland....crab cakes folks, get the crab cakes. Cant give full stars based on one awesome dish but not a bad place to eat.

Overall the food was pretty good and the server did an excellent job. I didnt give 5 stars because I personally wasnt a fan of the side salad (had pickeled onions and pickles in it) or bed of corn and greens that came with the crab cakes, however the crab cakes were delicious and I tasted my sons gouda mac n cheese and it was quite tasty.

Simply the best breakfast in town, hands-down. Delicious and hearty shrimp & grits (made with NC shrimp and locally-milled grits). Banana pancakes so fresh, fluffy, and flavorful. *Gourmet* corned beef hash (nowhere near the typical diner-style cbh). Crab benedict is fantastic. Wash them down with fresh-squeezed oj and fair trade coffee. It’s a cozy (and at times noisy) place, not fast food or disposable but high quality food on real plates. Expect a wait on Saturday mornings after 9, so get on the waitlist and know it’s totally worth.the.wait.

I chose Iron Hen from a Google search, Vegan Breakfast Greensboro NC. As the name suggests, most of the offerings were heavy with egg and cheese, crab cake Benedicts and smoked salmon to boot. But the limited vegan offerings they have are done well. I had the soy marinated tofu with spinach, tomatoes and onions. The dish comes with a side and is offered with or without eggs. I declined the eggs and added their black bean cakes instead. The non-vegan offerings looked fabulous as well. Beautiful French toast, omelettes, Benedicts, pancakes. I would come back just for the lavender latte. Dairy, soy and almond milks available. The service was a bit disjointed, though friendly. Overall a very satisfying breakfast.

I love this place! However, this visit was not their usual quality. We were there on a Wednesday at a late breakfast time. It was not overly busy; open tables. Service was good. Coffee was good. But the food was very mixed. My friends pancakes looked good and she enjoyed them. My grits and greens which I have ordered several times before was not. Grits were cold and really thick (from being cold). Not much greens on top and hardly any cheese. I should have sent it back but we had already waited so long to get our food. The table next to us that came in after us, received their food long before us. I dont know what was happening in the kitchen, but it was not like usual.

Let me start with the waiting list. I totally understand restaurants get really busy and crazy, but for a Saturday morning in this case, it wasnt busy at all!!!!!I asked the hostess after having waited for 12 mins if the two empty tables that had already water and silverware were taken. They had been vacant since we got there. The hostess stated that she seated people in order, rather than looking down the list to see if other parties could be seated while preferred table became readyA pregnant lady then interjected with a super passive aggressive attitude stating that they were working as hard and fast as they could. We specifically just wanted to know what their protocol was, as this is our first time here so that we could know for future reference. She stated something about having to roll silverware, which we laughed at as the tables were both already fully set up and ready for customers. Our server was lovely. The coffee was really good. The OJ on the other hand was watered down from concentrate, so that was a disappointment. The food came out without too terribly long a wait. It was good, the corned beef much more delicious than than the omelet. Our impression of the restaurant was definitely marred by our first fifteen minutes there and we were certainly close to walking out. We didnt, though and are pretty sure we wont go back.

Its got to be me. This place was recommended to me because of the great food. I will admit the service was 4 star, but the pancakes I had were below average. The food sat in the window too long, and the cakes had started to cool. I expected banana nut pancakes to have the nuts and babanas mixed into the pancakes. Not so here. Really like the concept--a local corner coffee shop transformed into a casual, unpretentious, neighborly restaurant. And the servers and their service were wonderful, friendly, attentive, accommodating, etc.But the food? Barely mediocre.Lets start with the coffee which was lukewarm--not an exception; every refill was the same--and not nearly as good as one would expect at a coffee shop. Then the food--worse! Not just mine, but my wifes as well. The turkey (which we both had) was dry and pretty tasteless. The butter overly lathered on the sandwich bread had the taste of stale oil. And speaking of oil, the french fries were dripping with it.We really wanted to like this place as soon as we entered and were greeted by our server--who again was wonderful. But we were very disappointed and wont return. Well continue with Scrambles, Smith Street, and Tex & Shirleys.
