The town of Greenwich currently has an indoor mask mandate and yet Stop & Shop is not enforcing mask-wearing, putting employees and customers at risk.Edited: Interesting that Stop & Shop is going to unnecessary lengths (i.e. gloves) to protect employees rather than mandating and enforcing mask-wearing. The current evidence suggests that the likelihood of contracting COVID-19 from a surface is highly unlikely, whereas close proximity with an infected person, particularly one who is not wearing a mask, is much riskier. Thus, the extensive disinfecting is likely useless. There was no indication of one-directional aisles earlier today when I visited Stop & Shop and customers certainly were not traveling in the same direction. Regardless, the times when I have most often come in close proximity to someone who is maskless have been at self check-out kiosks, which I find highly concerning because of the time spent scanning and bagging groceries. What is so onerous about adhering to local rules, particularly when they are consistent with best practices in preventing the spread of disease?
Great selection but higher prices always make this super market the one I go to when I have to.
Around past 4pm. April 19, 2021, I went to self check-out to pay for my groceries at Stop Shop in 161 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT. I was scanning my 5 gal. spring water first followed by a handful of groceries, maybe about 5 or 6 items more. After completion of my payment, a cashier helper on duty came to me and ask me if I run my 5 gal, spring water, I replied, YES I did. Told her to check my receipt if she dont believe. She commanded me to go to customer service with peoples eyes looking at me as if I cheated or stole anything from this store. She did not carefully go over if there is an entry in my receipt that I really paid the water already. So I requested their supervisor to open the coupon slot on the machine I used to prove that I really scan it and so the supervisor did and found my one and only water return ticket inside. The supervisor did check my receipt as well and she found out it was paid. The cashier helper was nowhere to apologize me. Does humiliating customer makes her happy??? I promise myself not to go to this store anymore even if I live close by.
Wednesday a.m. and it was beautiful at Stop & Shop, there may have been 5 other shoppers and all the associates were in a great mood. Wonderful experience.
It seems that customer service is never a positive experience at this location. You ask 3 different employees for assistance and they walk right by you without even looking your way. Stop & Shop get raise your game!
Well stocked ..great staff.. good prices
I’m writing in praise of Aimee Comis who is often found at the Self Help checkout or bagging groceries. Aimee is always smiling and always asks if I need help in any way. She even recognizes me whenever I’m at the checkout and comes over to say hello. She is an asset to your store. Kudos to Aimee!
Very clean, and very helpful staff. Courteous & professional.
Always have the things I need if I need it on the fly and helpful staff! Very laid back environment and always able to shop peacefully. No rush.
Good size small store for quick grab and great self checkout counters with readily available help if you stuck using them. Big size superstores are just too much ground to cover. They have always have something or the other healthier items on sale so I was able to get buy 1 get 1 English cucumbers on this trip.
Stop & shop is like every other typical Stop & shop except this one is smaller its not one of the big Stop & shops. the selection is not as great as one of the bigger stop and shops but its a good place to go when you need a small amount of items that you know they will have for example if youre going just to bread, milk or butter you know it will be there but if youre going there for something that is a bakery item chances are it wont be there like the bigger stop and shops, they have a bigger assortment of bakery items. also the cat food selection is very very small and its very frustrating to go there when you only get to choose from two varieties of cat food and they only have like two flavors of each cat food so stuff like that they do not have a huge amount theme as organic they do not have a big organic section like all the other bigger Stop & shops.
This is a very good store go early avoid the crowds
Convenient local store which has a decent range for your groceries. Fresh fish and meat selection isnt as good as others in the area but otherwise good for your groceries. Helpful staff.
I like this Stop & Shop, as its an old school grocery store, as opposed to a giant mega store. I like a smaller store that I can navigate easily and get from the dairy dept to the produce in a short amount of time. I dont always need a gigantic selection, just a few choices will do.
Sometimes cant find the things that I would find at another stop & shop
You gotta love stop and shop! Great variety of product!
Great Experience...just disappointed that people do not follow the rules about social distance and the arrows that are so obvious on the ground they ignore it. I feel like employees should observe and enforce it. This is a PANDEMIC not a simple i want to do whatever I want because I always shop here situation. The arrows are there for a reason and no one has the cure yet or is immune from COVID 19Please try and enforce this issue with customer that feel they dont need to follow the rules. Thank you.
Have everything, good produce. Store is cluttered, tired feeling and crammed. Check out line is not well thought out. How can they compete with a wegman?
Im very happy when I shop there person. Delivery quality not as good.
Good selection, fair prices and love the scanner guns
I had a unfriendly and frustrating experience today at the deli counter. Being ignored is no big deal, but frustrating, speaking directly to the deli woman (with noone else around) and being ignored makes my blood boil. Not happy with that experience.
Its a amazing place when everyone i met so far are nice and amazing people
Nice that its somewhat back to normal... people need to honor the arrows however, including outside vendors stocking shelves
Dirty, dark, small and depressing. There’s nothing to like about this store. Probably the smallest in the chain.
I like the Stamford one better. Still it has everything. No complaints really. Just sometimes do not get the exact brand I need
The store is very small but still well spaced out. It is well stocked and has great deals some time. The management is very good but I think they have too many employees on the floor that can create some confusion some time. They still maintain a low price for a very rich town of Greenwich, CT; that is amazing...
Excellent
This location, although just recently renovated, is so small that there is barely any selection whatsoever. It’s just too small. However, the real reason for this review is the produce quality which is consistently poor. Just last week, the box of strawberries I brought home had an unfriendly passenger in the box (a cockroach). After 5 years, I’m not returning to this store. I will go across the street to ACME instead.
Not good deil person very rude the tall gentleman i think hes in charge
Good market. Not huge but usually has good produce. I tend to price shop between here and the Acme across the street. I also like that they added self checkout lines in addition to regular registers.
I didnt have my DL on me to scan the lottery machine in order to be able to use it. The shift manager in front was very unhelpful in helping me be able to use the machine even though I had a Passport. Apparently Stop&Shop doesnt recognize passports as valid ID, because they should have had a way to override the system. Im not standing in line for 10 minutes to get some tickets when theres a machine there. Thanks to the unhelpfulness of manager here, I went straight to NY and gave up on going to any other retailer within CT to get what I needed.
Well managed well displayed and well laid-out store that is too small for the traffic. Appetizing produce meats and fish areas. Employees are helpful and friendly.
For Greenwich, it is lame. The help is great but just a run down store.
The store smells weird. I know this is a petty comment, but this specific store has an unpleasant odor. It literally keeps me from shopping there. Id like to add that I appreciate the folks that work there, they seem nice. Renovations that were done address a couple issues, but this store is still small and has a more mom and pop kind of feel. Personally the 3/5 stars is strictly on the smell of the store and produce being average. Hope this helps.
Nice area, but limited selection of products available compared to other Stop & Shops. Staff always seemed to busy to answer questions.
Not bad for Greenwich but coming from a small town this place is cramped and limited options vs other stores. Great staff. Clean place.
Got raisin muffin n low sodium bacon, cashiers are very helpful n certuous
They just renovated it, very nice lay out and great produce selection. Self check out is a breeze and the new scan-it! guns are very helpful
Restore seems to have less inventory then before the remodel. However, people who work there are still friendly everything seems fresh good selection of most things you need
We shop here for our groceries every month. They have a great variety of healthy food. Great sales on our favorite food items!
Stop and shop is always fresh. Clean store. Food is high. But lot of sale going on. But then and again you get what you pay for.
Expensive but descent
Very convenient shopping for all your food needs. Recent renovations at Putnam Ave store make it very modern, bright and clean.
A guy gave me full price of shrimp. It suppose to be half price. I got home and I had to went back there to get my money back $10.
Always clean and organized. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Decent grocery store, but they do not have everything you might need. Some employees are really nice and are a pleasure. The stores setup itself is a little dark and tight quarters. I think there sales are ok, but prices can be hefty on some items.
Great quick shopping ... its a smaller store so they might not have everything you need .
Great customer service. Management constantly keeps up w cleanliness and customer service. Restocking is consistent and orderly.
Longtime Stop and Shop fan. Same awesome brand from my college days at URI before the chain hit CT.
The store is very convenient but they dont have a lot of Stop n shop brand foods more organic and more expensive but the employees are very nice
Since they started carrying more organic products and now offer fresh-squeezed juice I now come here frequently
Recently updated, well done, staff friendly and helpful. Less variety in certain areas. 6 self checkout machines!
I use to like stop and shop but not so much anymore, for one they get expensive and most of there fresh produce are not fresh and its all way when I get home I recognize d it
Over priced not many options workers now friendly
Nice supermarket
Best supermarket and you can get discounts when you have your Stop & Shop card.
I went to stop and shop to buy some groceries. Now I usually get chocolate almond milk from there but they didn’t have any. However, they had four shelves of regular almond milk. They seriously need to keep chocolate almond milk in stock. I was so disappointed that I couldn’t bring home any chocolate almond milk.
Very clean ppl were so friendly found dverything i needed. But no sales everything was full price
Nice clean store. Kinda small though.
Small grocery store, definitely not a supermarket! But you can still find the basic needs!
Not thrilled with the store only go when its an emergency...their selection in product is terrible...as I was checking out one of the girls said to me I was asked to ask you if you had forgotten this, and she pulled up my milk thinking I was not gonna pay for it. Well it wasnt her it was the girl behind the customer service desk told her to ask me....I told her no that is part of my second order. I told her my boss doesnt pay for my groceries. I think they should have waited till I walked out before asking me .There are a couple good workers there and to tell you the truth thats the only reason I go
Standard stop and shop. Good place to pick-up those staple groceries.
The person replenishes the vegetables, he was so rude with my wife . Today 4/21/20, around 5:00 pm Spanish men like 50 years old . Supermarket are ok but they need to hired friendly workers
Its not a large store but still crams in everything you expect from Stop & Shop. There is no café seating area.
Service at deli counter was awful. The rest of the store is nice. I wont be returning.
Always find what I need, even sometimes when Im late at nite they let me get what I need, people who work there is nice and friendly, I definitely recommended
Great Place Very Friendly Atmosphere
A little small but good people and well run
Nice small shop in Greenwich, CT good prices.
Clean, good produce section, fair prices, good service
Love how they renovate the store, super clean, organize, easy to find stuff not to big just right and no big line since they have self check register love it love it,great job stop and shop
Edit 10/19/2018: Raising rating from 1 to 2. They re-reconfigured the checkout, which is a meaningful improvement. But the other downsides all still apply in my opinion. Cart wranglers still very helpful.Edit 4/5/2018: Avoid this location. Really. It keeps getting worse and worse for me. Yesterday, two items had incorrect prices at self-checkout. When I complained to an employee, I received a very bad attitude (bad enough I was motivated to complain in writing to the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection). If you must patronize Stop & Shop, the small Glenville location is tired, dirty, but better than this one. And the west Stamford location is cleaner, larger, but further.______________________Edit 10/11/2017: Avoid this location (lowered rating from 3 to 1). Service quality here has significantly deteriorated post-renovation over multiple visits. On todays attempt, I abandoned cart and left. Acme, Whole Foods, DeCeccos, Balduccis, and Citerella are all better nearby options.______________________Edit 7/16/2017: Currently temporarily closed for renovations. The store across the street is now an Acme and slightly preferable except for its inferior parking lot and access.______________________Its totally fine for a tired generic neighborhood store. Its better than the A&P directly across the street mostly because of the better parking and opportunity to partake of the liquor store, Cosi, etc in the rest of the strip mall. Deli was fine, I stay away from the prepared foods, and like everything in Westchester & Fairfield counties it all costs more than you think it should for what you get. Staff seems perfectly nice, especially the cart wranglers.
Got what ya need
One of the worst places in Greenwich as a grocery store the service is horrible and dont have wide variety of options in products.
They have good produce, meats & groceries. Nothing special, but a good option in the local neighborhood.
Nice and neat. Find everything that you need.
Its an okay grocery store. No frills.
This is a smaller, old-school Stop & Shop. No pharmacy, 8 aisles in the whole place, 6 registers and only 2 open. They do have dedicated baggers though which are sorely lacking in some of the larger locations.
Awesome
Great grocery store with good prices. Lots of parking.
Prices are only decent here. Its Greenwich so itll be expensive anywhere, I guess.
Great place to do regular shopping.
Very small store so it leaves a lot to be desired. Nice staff and pretty clean so in a pinch it works.
Happy
Good selection of baked goods, produce, meat!
Kind of small but clean and friendly staff
Great place for quick grabs!
Nice shopping store, prices are higher
Competitive prices and great sellection
Good products good parking
Small . Dirty. Cluttered
Good costumer service.
Thanks again for your help
They are shutting down for repairs and didnt have everything I needed
Good choice and convenient
Since its Greenwich prices are much higher than elsewhere. Like the self checkout.
Nothing special but always open + easy.
Love deals
Very small isles, and mostly automated cashiers now.
