Very good. I wasnt sure if emissions had to be done by appointment so I emailed them. They replied that I dont need an appointment and to come anytime. I did. It was done in 5 minutes. And I was very happy.

Yelled at by the owner for not having an appointment for an oil change and emissions testing after I confused them with someone who took walk-ins. Owner was rude, condescending and referred to me, a complete stranger, as “hun”. Sorry HUN - I will be taking my business elsewhere. Ended up going to Guilford Texaco up the road. They were extremely professional and the wait was not bad at all.

I have taken my older Audi here. The customer service is great, they communicate expectations well. The pricing seems fair.My car issue seems to be a bit nuanced (which I knew ahead of time) and they are committed to getting it right at the originally quoted price.I have another car I’m planning to bring in soon, I will adjust this report based on my experience.

Great to work with. Been to A1 a couple times now. Took the time to make sure that the work was done right and kept me up to date on what was going on. In the end, the issue I brought the car in for (per the dealership) wasn’t an issue at all. Took care of me through the whole process.

Service was amazing. They are quick and reliable. You talk directly to the owner of the store and he is completely honest with you. If your car needs to be fixed he will do it quickly, they do not hold your car like other car shops. The prices are unbeatable. He gives a quote and tells you how much the parts cost market price and how much he gets the for, if the repairs go over what he estimated he does not charge. No complaints, I will definitely go there every time my car needs repairs.

John runs a cream of the crop and honest shop. I have used A-1 for several years now and John has always put the customer first; not just myself but I have watched the way he handles all his customers. He takes the time to get to know his customers. Each time I am there I have observed that I am not the only loyal customer, actually it is the exception to the rule that someone comes in who has never been in the shop before. How do I know this? Because John happily greats people by name and commences to have personalized conversations with them, in the same manner as I am treated.I have needed routine and emergency services and A-1 has always come through with open and honest communication through out the service, which relieves that anxiety of OMG how much is this going to cost me. I took my car here after having a bad experience with another auto shop and they went above and beyond to help me. Jon the owner is friendly and helpful for those who dont know much about cars. He explained everything that was going on with my car in a way that was easy to understand. He was even willing to take me back to actually look at the car while they were working on it. I had an appointment to get my wheel checked out as it was making noise. They rode along with me to check out the noise, and then I proceeded to sit in the waiting room for an hour and a half, while my car sat in the parking lot.The guy at the counter seems nice enough, and if you are one of the lucky ones to actually get your car worked on, Im sure the work is fine. But I refuse to give business to a place that doesnt value my time while they chit chat with their regulars at the counter.

I brought my car for check engine light diagnostic, and I already knew the error code and what it means. This error code could be a result of several different problems and I asked to run diagnostic on what exactly it was.I was told that diagnostic would be $90.Several hours later I got a call that the car I set.I went to the place and they told me that I need to go to the dealer to do software update, because they cant run diagnostic without.AND they charged me $110.. For what? For that they cant do diagnostic?Nice. Never go back.It was my second visit to this place. First time I had some issues and they did a lot of unnecessary work, just to charge me extra money.

Making appointments for car servicing, I get that. Making appointments for smog checks or, worse, being asked if you have an appointment when NO ONE IS THERE... I dont get. The business that previously had that service in the area was respectful and happy to serve. Not so much, here.

The atmosphere and waiting areas are so wonderful, easy parking, great location and great customer service and work. Recommend highly.

Went to them for emissions and asked for an oil change and found I had been duped at some other placed. Picked up problems with my steering wheel and made them so much better. Pulled a face when I told them how much another place had said it would cost. The waiting room is very nice. My new go to garage!

Jon is a honest guy and competent mechanic. I have had all the work done on two of my vehicles and have always been pleased with the quality and price of work, and Jon has always been clear up front when possible about price and length of time

On Saturday, January 26 I had a terrible experience at A-1 Complete Care on Boston Post Road in Guilford, CT. I was driving southbound on Route 1 in Guilford. My phone fell out of my pocket and in between the seats of my car. I pulled into the nearest business parking lot to park and look for my phone. That parking lot was A-1 Complete Auto Care.I got out of my car to look for my phone and there was an man sitting in a car a few spaces away from me. From the moment I pulled in he just stared at me and continued to stare for a long time. He had an angry look on his face, it was a bit creepy and I felt uncomfortable. Eventually I looked at him to find out why he was staring at me. He said in an angry voice This is my property. What are you doing here?.I immediately got into my truck, left A-1 and pulled into another business parking lot across the street and found my phone.Not sure why he did this. I wont be giving A-1 my business and I recommend that others avoid this business owner.

This place really is fantastic. My family and I have been bringing our cars here for a couple years now. Through both scheduled maintenance and spontaneous vehicle troubles Jon, the owner, is always courteous and honest. He and his crew work quickly and efficiently and the prices just cant be beat. He takes the time to explain what he did and why, and has even gone out of his to way to fix problems without charging an arm and a leg like other mechanics do. I would highly recommend this place as well for the clean waiting room, there is free coffe, wifi, and tea as well as a nice playroom for little kids.

Over priced. Made up things that needed repaired. Charged me $400.00 when I brought it in for a check up. That covered a clamp and a hose. All of which I could have gotten under $50 bucks and put in my self. Truck actually had more problems after they got done. i wouldnt use ever again.

The guys at A-1 are amazing! My car broke down in Guilford when I was headed home to Old Saybrook. I called around and they had the best prices and service without contest. They saved me a bunch of money and were a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended.

Nothing but great service at a great price. I take my Saab, my wifes Audi, and our Nissan truck here for every kind of service, which says a lot about the breadth of knowledge that the mechanics have. Last week my Saab had a check engine light; the Body Control Module was sending erratic signals. John attempted to reprogram the BCM, but it didnt take. The unit is clearly on its way out. Rather than order and install a new unit (huge expense), John (the owner) told me that the car could be driven safely while I looked for a less expensive alternative. And he charged me zero for the attempt to reprogram the module. Im a customer for life.

While travelling to Guilford from out of town, I had some trouble with my car on the way and wanted to make sure it was safe to drive. Despite my fear of getting raked as an out-of-towner, I was able to get an appointment to have my car looked at the same day. It was conveniently located and I was impressed by the clean waiting area with free coffee and tea, free wireless, and a wonderful play-room that my daughter adored. The mechanics were fast, courteous, and way under-charged me for their time. My only trouble was getting my daughter to leave. If I lived closer, I would take my car there all the time.

If you want a mechanic you can trust, this is it. All of my interactions have been extremely pleasant and professional. On several occasions, despite quoting something, they didnt do the work after digging in because it wasnt really needed. Finally a mechanic where I dont feel like I am getting nickled and dimed with every interaction.

Honest, friendly and great quality of work. I always have a wonderful experience at this shop!

Had a noon emissions appointment. Out by 12:09!

Out of the three places I’ve had my Breathalyzer serviced this one is the worst. It’s a 15 min reset and both times I was here I’ve waited over an hour and a half. This is the last time I will be going here for this service.
