Party of Seven! Milkshakes were excellent, the impossible burgers were the best Ive had in a while! The fries were delicious! My sis in law had the chicken and waffles, and those were delicious! My mom and dad had the salmon salad, and even that was amazing!Great vibe! The staff were super friendly, and when we asked them to turn down the music just a bit so we could chat, they were happy to help. Just a really fun place!
Pretty Rad . I lived the 80s and I gotta say I was right at home. Was here during happy hour . Had a long island, too much ice. Yet the atmosphere was cool. You can watch on a big screen 80s MTV style videos. Busy carpet with colorful patterns and neon signs hanging up everywhere. I cant speak of the food as maybe another time.
Atmosphere was awesome. Customers were coming in dresses in 80s attire. 80s music and videos filled the room. Bathroom hall is covered with 80s yearbook photos! Started off the meal with fried pickles and they were amazingly good! Really crispy and small bites! Chicken and waffles was perfect for that savory and sweet meal. Patty Melt was the best we ever had! The brownie with ice cream is definitely a way to end it as it was awesome too!! Definitely a favorite of ours now!!
If you love the 80s, this is truly the place for you. This was my 2nd time eating here. My first was take-out of the Bird and Waffles which was so delicious that I had to have it again when my friend and I dined in here on Saturday night. I got my waffles Purple Rain style and this definitely didnt disappoint. I also had their Water Moccasin adult beverage and would have ordered more if I wasnt the designated driver. Definitely would go again. The music, the ambience, and overall decor spoke to my inner 80s child and Im so glad this place is around. Definitely will recommend for friends and others looking for a new place to try.
This needs to be on your top 10 places if you are an 80s fan. Great food… fun service… the music Is a blast with screens of music videos. Amazing drinks!! Fun hang out spot. First time here but won’t be my last…
Food was good. Service was even better. The staff was very personable and patient with my baby throwing a temper tantrum. No high chairs available.Definitely has an upbeat 80s vibe
It’s a cool concept, it’s colorful, there’s lots to look at, 80’s music videos play throughout, and the door chime is cool. The food was good, I had a burger, not the best I’ve ever had but good. We also ordered the fried shrimp, which were very good, and the meatloaf, which was really really good. The drinks we had we not very good at all, we ordered 2 shots and a drink each from their drink menu. Also, it did take a while for a server to acknowledge us. We were seated about 12 mins before anyone came to us. It didn’t bother me too much because I know they’re still working the kinks out. The menu was limited but looking forward to see what else they add.
In all honesty, I was not sure what to expect and I will definitely be giving this place another try because I want to love it. The theme is fun but needs more, more games or trivia at the table, I am not sure what but it felt like it was a little off the target. Music choices were AMAZING! The food was okay, nothing really special. The fries were the most unique thing and they were the skinny cut fries. The wait staff was nice and very accommodating.Like I said before, I will be giving this place another try in the future because I want to love it. From other reviews it looks like it may be more fun later at night.
Good Halloween party! Good food good drinks and a great location. Staff is friendly and welcoming, as well as owner! Very good 1st annual Halloween party.
I LOVED this place! A lot of thought went into the decor, everything from the Rubiks Cube disco ball to the mural of the Breakfast Club cast within Edward Hoppers Nighthawks painting. I got the Pretty in Pink breakfast and it was excellent. The 80s karaoke was so much fun. Our server was attentive and friendly, and she even sang karaoke! I definitely want to return the next time I am in Houston. I highly recommend you stop by if you love the 80s.
Kinks and spotty masking.Visited for brunch on Sunday. Went early, decent parking. Fun atmosphere, though the PlayStation symbol on the wall leads me to believe that the 80s might be a little misunderstood (since PlayStation was introduced in 1994). Whatever the case, fun appearance. The menu offerings are good, but there are so many kinks in this restaurant right now, that our experience was really dampened. The “colossal” biscuit and gravy was average to small in size and was served cold. (This was sent back and comp’d).The Pretty In Pink waffle with whipped cream and strawberry compote was served as a plain waffle with a couple strawberry slices (no compote, no whipped cream - our server brought out both when we brought it up).The hash browns were raw.The first Bloody Mary I had was delicious. The second was made with gin, not vodka. This was sent back, remade, and comp’d.The coffee I was served was made in the iced tea maker and tasted like iced tea. This was acknowledged by our very nice server when I called her over before I even said anything. This was sent back. The chicken fried steak and the Bird & Waffle were delicious.A major problem here is that, while the main wait staff was wearing masks, the manager and another person (maybe another manager?) were not wearing masks at all. In fact, the second person brought food to our table without a mask on. It’s not a requirement in Texas, however, at this stage, we found this to be inappropriate. The net is that I hope the kinks here will get worked out because this is a fun concept, and they did comp. and/or try to correct our food and drink issues. As is today, this is a mediocre restaurant in a city with a plethora of good choices.
Solid diner food with a super cool vibe! They set the tone with the sound effect from that famous song by Yellow when you open the front door, which was a nice touch. Friendly staff, good portions, reasonable prices, cute retro 80s vibes everywhere...what’s not to love?
Came here today with a friend and it was great. Had the chicken & waffles and the Texican omelette, along with their frozen margarita and sunrise drink✨this place has a looooot of potential once their menu is permanently set and more people know about this place❤️their staff is super friendly & checked in constantly. Will be back!
This place will take you back! If you were a kid or grew up in the 80s you will love it. Lots of cool details, and movie references in the decor, good food, excellent service. I just loved it. The happy hour was very reasonably priced.
Swing and a miss....I was very excited to revisit my childhood memories, unfortunately I visited only the childhood memories of whomever decorated this restaurant. The front door had a nice touch on a set of speakers that goes off whenever someone walks in (but, I dont want to give that away). The inside ambience was exciting at first, until you realized...where is Michael Jackson?Where is Nintendo? Where is VHS tapes? There is about 50 more things to list from the 80s that anyone could relate to. There was a TV playing some music videos of songs that hardly made it to the radio. However there was some Genesis videos and some others that are well known that played. My advice, fix this restaurant before the hype disappears and your added to the restaurant graveyard of Houston. I would love to come back to see the changes.Positives:Good table decorExcellent wafflesBathroom decor was great and relatableMusic was at the right volumeVery cleanSome relatable content of the 80sNegatives:Not enough 80s relatable contentLong wait times for foodSome relatable content of the 80sIm just not feeling the 80s
Amazing food and environment. Super friendly staff
Its pretty cool. Standard diner food but its made and presented well. All day breakfast makes it a 5 star. Its a cool hang out if your in your 20s or your 60s or whatever.
When I went to Hungry Like a Wolf, my experience was okay. First, they were out of what I wanted and what I ended up ordering was fine, not great or even that memorable. The service was good, so no complaints there. I suppose the thing that was most challenging for me, personally, was that the space felt closed in and I felt slightly claustrophobic being in there.
Party of 2; took over 10 minutes to even get our drink order. The hostess had to wait on us, the server was stressed over her 3 other tables. The other staff were huddled around the soda station talking amongst themselves for most of the time we dined here.I ordered the Biscuit and Gravy for 9.99; read COLOSSAL biscuit…. COLOSSAL MISTAKE!!! It was a small frozen biscuit with a single sausage patty cut up and tossed on top.He ordered the Texas Cheesesteak and received the regular cheesesteak. The $9 shake was just the same as a $4 shake at McDonald’s. The cheese sticks tasted exactly like the ones you’d find at any bar or bowling alley. I was very disappointed. The atmosphere was AMAZING and the 80’s vibe was cute! I just didn’t expect a 1980’s diner to serve food that tasted like it was FROM the 1980’s but with prices like it’s 2050.Now I made a very bad truthful review but our server was excellent, vibe was excellent and I’d be back if the prices reflected the quality of food which is no more than bowling alley food!
Good vibes good service Great fried pickles, with the best ranch
Great music, clean and fantastic food. I have too many great memories this places stirs up. Great place.
Cool place. Service and food were excellent...in fact, we were served quicker than most fast food places - impressive considering the busy Saturday night. Highly recommended!
What a great hidden gem. Great atmosphere, great food and great service. Awesome place for a first date. Warning: this could lead to a marriage proposal. 😄
Absolutely over priced for the quality of food. And top of that I wasnt given my exact change. If I want you to have my change, I should be the one to give to you and not you automatically keeping it. How many customers a day? A week? Are you keeping change from? Whats your total on change kept from customers on weekly basis? Monthly basis? Again, on top of your over priced food thats not worth your prices.
The food was good, I had the shrimp, my mom had the chicken fried steak, garlic m.p, my daughter had hamburger and fries the food was flavorful but it gave my mom diarrhea, I was upset because I was expecting a pac man arcade not a table game terrible I could not even play it with all the food and food stuck to it. The tables were too close together every time someone walked by they bump you with a but or elbow seating was horrible and it was too loud..unfortunately we will not be back.
The food is really good- the fries are fantastic! I love 80s music so the atmosphere was enjoyable as well. Service is prompt, the boozy shakes delicious, but not really a place for small children. Bathrooms were clean. Doorbell is cute, but dont sit near it- Gets old after a while. The sandwich options are better than the breakfast ones. Skip the biscuits and gravy- thick, clotted, overly saged. Nothing else on the dish (like eggs?) to support the $10 charge. Mostly flour and water, tasted like flour and water- with sage. The sandwiches were totally worth it.
Thoughtful, thematic decor makes this more than just a place to eat a meal. Videos from the 1980s play in the background. The menu has a good variety, enough to satisfy everyone at our table. The food was delicious and was delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Parking was easy. If you lived through the 80s, you really need to check this place out!
My friend and I love the 80s and thought this would be the perfect spot to celebrate his birthday. The music, videos and decor made the atmosphere perfect. We started with margaritas which were awesome! Fried pickles, not so much. I gave it 3 stars because although our server George was absolutely fantastic and the drinks rocked, the place was warm. AC wasnt working properly. I had the Rocky III and it wasnt that tasty. My husband had the Kelly LeBrock and was bland as well.
I recently visited this new 80’s diner in Houston. Super cool concept. Lots of 80’s décor which includes streaming of MTV 80’s videos. We had the Moltey Crudite Platter. Great appetizer! Very Healthy! I tried the Roasted Salmon which was well cooked. Not Dry. Sauce was on point. My friend tried the “There can only by one” meatball sub and it was very tasty. Meatballs and sauce were great served with kettle potato chips.I will definitely come back to try their breakfast items and the burgers! Fun atmosphere for sure with a Full Bar with Creative Drinks and Milk Shakes…
Saturday my daughter was excited about trying this new place called Hungry Like the Wolf, we arrived a little before 2:00 and were told there was an hour wait and to check in every 15 minutes. Well after seeing people park and go right in and be seated one right after the other, my wife checked back inside to see where our name on the list was, the hostess told her there was no list and at the moment there is no wait for a table, seems the hostess was away and a waitress had told my wife the erroneous information, were easy going, no problem, we got seated right!. Well first i must say that the ambience is electric and fun/cool, a real 80s vibe, music videos playing all around a Breakfast club mural and a snapshot collage of the Goddess that is Phoebe Cates in her red bikini from Fast Times At Ridgemont High.....Tilt! This is where we go downhill again, our waitress after about sitting there 10-15 minutes without one, finally comes to our table apologizing for the long wait, but she just had gall bladder surgery and she was just getting back to normal, she spent about 5 minutes telling us about her story, Im getting pretty thirsty and hungry by now, finally we put our orders in, my daughter had asked for a frozen margarita, tick, tock, tick, tock, tick tock, while our food had arrived, my daughter was still waiting on her drink. We asked the hostess who was right directly behind us and the bartender came out very quickly and explained that the machine was down and it takes about 30 minutes for it to restart, she offered a drink on the rocks which was then brought over by one of the managers I think. while the food was ok, nothing to shout about my burger was luke warm and had no real taste to it, my wife said the same thing about her huge fried shrimp meal, it was more bland than anything. Needless to say, not the best experience, but the vibes were very cool and by the way her margarita was comped which was a nice gesture, by the way the table next to us had a similar experience with the same waitress who totally screwed up their bills, I really hope it was just a bad day and maybe coming back to work to early after surgery.
Absolutely loved this place!!! Great food awesome music super fast and courteous service!!! What more can you ask for???! The waitress reminded us of our sister in law...you know who you are gf....she was awesome!!!!👍😘
This place is incredible. An honest hidden gem. Everything has an 80s twist. Great for those into nostalgia. Great food and outstanding employees that are good enough for anyone not into the 80s. Something for everyone. I rate this one as a must visit.
Loved the entire vibe. Service was fantastic at the table, but very slow at the bar. The food was fine, but we came for the theme more so than the food. You should definitely swing by for a dose of nostalgia.
We had our siblings lunch today and I have to say it was awesome! Andrew made sure we were taken care of. The food was great! The customer service was great! We were not disappointed. We will be back! We had so much fun reminiscing. We love the 80s and this perfect gem❤️❤️❤️
We went for the soft opening today (found the place completely by accident, coincidentally it opened today). I really, really love this concept! We had a lot of fun dancing to some hot 80s beats. :D I think this place has a lot of potential to be a cool hangout spot in the future.Im hoping they will have 80s movie nights, and dancing nights too! It would be awesome if there was an area available for dancing - we just danced where there was space today, nobody seemed to mind. Also, they could bring in 1980s cover bands too (like Vertigo - an awesome Houston-area 80s band). Will definitely keep checking in on this place to see what they do with it!
Great food and great staff. Love the 80s decorating....highly recommend.
Seemed like a fun idea for a restaurant theme. However, it could have been done better. The food was mediocre at best. They also automatically add a 20% tip for a party of 6 or more. Drinks werent refilled promptly at all. Overall, it was a one time visit. We wouldnt go back.
Love the 80 vibe from the music to the decor Im taken back to my childhood every time.
The decor is totally awesome and tubular. 80s all the way! Fast Times, Pacman, Tetris, MTV... its all here. Love love love! The food is diner style. Sandwiches, breakfast all day, and fried stuff. Just like the 80s... lots of style but not tons of substance. Fun trip back to the future of the 80s, but dont expect the Duran Duranch dressing or the Culture Club sandwich to blow your tube socks off. Its good but not incredible food. Drinks are a bit high... I blame Regan style inflation.
Karaoke was fun, but the food was reheated dishes did not taste good and cold.
My best friend and i ate at this place and he got food poisoning from the biscuit and gravy. Im giving it 2 stars because mozzarellas sticks were great.
The Food was Really Good and the Vibe was amazing …. Until my waitress got mad I left a five dollar tip instead of ten and verbally complained. She was very unprofessional won’t be returning.
Food is OK but extremely over priced. I had the chicken fried steak and it was so dry that by the end I picked off all the breading to get to the meat. The diner itself looks like generic thrown together Amazon 80s decor. The drinks are terrible and so overpriced. They are like 3 good sips and its gone. Bartenders are slow and cant make a good drink. We tried 4 and all were grossly unbalanced. They should probably send the bartenders back to Applebees where they found them. The dj just plays what he wants. Would not take our requests. I think they are trying to create a intimate dining experience on the weekends. But sitting in an Amazon built 80s spot with bad food and even worse drinks its like putting lipstick on a pig. Our server was nice. But thats not worth the price tag youre given when youre done. Youre leaving with the feeling of being ripped off. There are other 80s places in the city. This is not the one.
The whole place is 80s themed. Good food. Great atmosphere
I had high expectations with this restaurant and it was disappointing. First, this restaurant IS NOT family friendly, they have NO Highchairs available, maybe booster chair but that’s it. Second, the place is extra small, everything seems crunched up, and when I went there the A/C seemed to be off or broken, very hot and stuffy. Third but not least, the price$ seemed to be quite high, just before I got (and my wife) frustrated with our five year old kid starting to get up constantly because they have NO Highchairs, we only ordered One Fried Pickle Entry (not very good), Two milkshakes and a house margarita for $45+, I can’t imagine what the total would of been had we ordered food as well. Big disappointment 👎🏼
The staff was friendly and nice but I was hoping for a dance area but there was no dancing. The food was bland for my taste, the meatloaf was hard around the edges, beans were not fully cooked and the bloody Mary I ordered spicy was not spicy at all. I requested some 80s music and the DJ did not have anything I requested and what he did have, he played the song he wanted instead of allowing me to request the one I wanted to hear. It was not worth the money in my opinion.
The place was cool had different art around. I had the Pretty in Pink waffle, I thought it was good. Also tried the piña colada and it was just right for my opinion.
I had the most excellent time here! Everything was on point with the theme and food. I had a great time and service was SO fast. My food literally came quick as lightning. If I could give more stars, I would !
I have never left a negative review of any establishment, this changes now.My party called 2 weeks in advance preparing a large group. We were told back then that we would need everyone in order to be seated. We showed up in a full party (a large group of 20) and we’re then told by the owner that the restaurant “doesn’t take reservations”, despite us talking to them multiple times. He then says there will be an hour wait, and we won’t be able to sit together, and we can order bar drinks in the meantime. We agreed, got a few drinks, and waited. We noticed outside there were 4 tables that were empty. We asked a woman who appeared to be a manager there if we may be seated outside. She said we may. We then start to sit together and push tables together. Another group of 3 people who were seated outside see our party trying to sit together and tell us, “hey you guys can have our table, we are gonna sit inside.” We thank them and proceed to continue to seat ourselves. The owner then comes outside and begins to berate us, saying that he has other people waiting and we can’t be taking these tables. DESPITE us being told otherwise. He then says that he will let us sit outside, but we need to order food to sit outside, and we’d better know what we want immediately. Our party agreed. Then a waiter (buff white guy with tattoos) then comes outside, and tells us “you know, it’s pretty rude of you guys to come here and ask people to move”, referring to the group of 3 that gave up the table on their own, which was completely unwarranted. This owner has a lovely looking establishment, but he comes off as an absolute tool. He was sweating and all over the place and incredibly rude.I left before giving them any more of my business, I suggest you avoid this place until they get a clear idea of how to treat people.
FYI they take reservations even though the website says no reservations. Drive in from out of town on vacation and looked around in the area I was staying at. Walked in with 7 people and they didnt have anything available since all the reservations were taken????? They offered drinks to be outside in 95 degree heat, no thanks. Plus the reason to come here is for the ambiance inside.
Such a cool vibe! Best chicken and waffles I have had in awhile. (And Im a frequent visitor of The Breakfast Klub) so that says something. It was very crowded (which is super exciting for restaurant and bar owners after this past year) and we had to wait a little bit, but our Server, Ainsley, was so apologetic and friendly it quickly made up for it (not that I would be a Karen or anything because I come from this industry so I understand 100%). We had the strawberry mimosas that were DELICIOUS! We will defintiely be back!!!
Cafe 80s from Back to the Future. Great dinner. Friendly staff willing to go the extra mile
You just have to go eat here. The food was amazing. The employees were fun and really good at what they do. I will be going back every chance I get. I loved the 80s theme. Brought back some great childhood memories.
The place has potential but they need to figure it out quick. Took 30 minutes before our friends to get the drinks they ordered and we had to ask a manager to get them. When our waiter came to the table, we tried to make small talk asking if he was busy and his response was “they need to figure out how to tell people there is a wait”. Our waiter didn’t ask how we wanted our burgers so he put it “medium well” (showed on the receipt) so I came out almost rubbery like. Great atmosphere. I think they have potential as it is a wonderful theme, but it needs to happen soon.
They havent been open long so all the servers were new. Really cool spot hope to see things smooth out. Food was pretty good. Place was really cool to check out but half the drink menu they didnt what was needed. Couldnt get a drink refill or any service but hopefully they will work out out.
Its 80s!! Hello, the best.... Andrew, Thank You so much for taking a few minutes of your day to chat with us and share some stories and laughs,(especially lunch hour and on the first day of opening). Food was great, staff was awesome and kind. The layout, 80s decor and MUSIC was fantastic! Excited to see how it will be when the DJ is there....the freaks come out at night, hahaha! Overall, if you guys havent came out, please do, youll be sure to enjoy it! Thank You Guys, nice shirts too.
I’m probably in the minority with firmly disliking the 80’s but my boss picked this place for lunch so in I went. It was enjoyable. The food was really good and the staff attentive. The music wasn’t overly loud so honestly outside of the music videos and murals it was just a generally good dining experience even if you’re not a theme oriented person.
The food was great and the atmosphere/decorations are amazing. We got to play with the trivia cards while we waited for our food.
Its a really nice clean place. The atmosphere is very nice and the people who work there are very positive. The decor is a mixture of 90s and 80s so overall its just a very fun looking aesthetic. The food was alright. They have a tray with sauces you can add to your food. Its a cute small place that was nice to experience once
