This Academy is well organized and very clean. Helpful staff and has great items in the clearance section.Magellan brand of clothes is a great alternative to higher priced brands.

Went to buy hiking boots tonight. The pair we bought showed on clearance but rang up full price. After showing an employee that Academy made an error in their display, they honored the clearance price. Everyone/place will make mistakes, what matters is how those errors are handled. Hats off to the staff at this location for doing the right thing! A much more positive experience and better customer service than what I’ve experienced at the Dick’s in the area.

Visited earlier last week and I loved the selection of hand guns that were on display, it really beats going to a pawn shop because no one else has touched it. Fire arms are appealing to the eye, counter reps are detailed in the function of handling and knowledge of functions of ALL Fire Arms. I wish I remembered the associate that assisted me and my family, she was AWESOME in knowing all about her merchandise. I do recommend Academy if your looking for a trendy piece of good firearms💯🔥🙏🏾

On Fathers day weekend, we visited this location. Quite hectic inside. I went through the line and the cashier had difficulty accommodating my request to split the bill.We finally went to customer service with a very nice, expensive golf bag and a gentleman behind the counter was kind enough to complete the transaction.The floor managers... (2) young ladies left us standing in the middle of the floor, while discreetly reprimanding the cashier.

Employees were extremely friendly and helpful. Almost every employee we passed ask how our day was or if they could help. Great place to shop.

Ive always like Academy even just the pass the time I like to walk around and browse. Wish they would have more of a selection in bikes. Road bikes not just mountain bikes for men and women. Their price match guarantee is pretty awesome tho.

Every time I walk into this store I literally just want to buy workout clothes and shoes. They have the best variety of so many things . The employees are always nice and helpful.

There was plenty of parking. The store is clean. The checkout lines were very short.

Ordered shoes online to pick up instore then received an email that they couldnt find them. So then I ordered them online to be shipped to the house and it took them 3 days just to create the shipping label. Shoes show in stock at most locations, not sure why its so hard to get their hands on them.

Store was not stocked very well, but thats not why Im grading them down. I was in the store for over an hour and not one associate offered to assist me with anything and the one I did ask for help seemed put out and in a hurry. Whatever happened to good ole CUSTOMER SERVICE. All these big chains dont offer customer service anymore.

We were buying shoes and the man that was there to help was very friendly and helpful, but the cashier left something to be desired. More interested in talking with coworkers than helping customers.

Whats to say? An Academy like any other, it is fairly new, and quite busy. Expect stock to be picked over most of the time. Bullets are gone within a day so go on Monday if you want them.

Looked online to see if they had the Dorcy mini lanterns. I picked them up in store.

Horrible store, the shoe sizes barely go past 12, so most men ( and some women ) wont be able to get any shoes/boots for themselves. Other than that the store is also a horrible place because of the amount of Karens that frequent these types of stores.

Staff is great prices are not to expensive you find everything for the family.

I wouldnt even give them a star. Tried to return a shirt that didnt fit for an even exchange. It was a gift, so I didnt have a receipt. After they took the shirt at the register, and I found me the same brand different print, but was the same price $24.99. After waiting in the line they then told me with out a receipt they will only give me less than half the value. The original shirt still has the price tag for 24.99, and they still had the same shirts on the rack for the same price. There return policy for even exchanges is terrible....

Big store. Not much in the way of camping supplies and the childrens hiking boot or shoes in general section was baren. Nearly impossible to get any help from an employee unless youre buying a gun. No kids camping/hunting/camo clothes

Absolutely terrible! The gentleman named Chew was a rude jerk and refused to help me. Then the cashier couldnt make change. She had to call someone over to help her. The computer did the math for her, but she still couldnt figure it out.

The young guy (with 2- German Shepherds) in the sporting goods area was very, very helpful and polite. He guided me while I guided my Service dog and assisted me in purchasing a tent and a Plano Mil-spec gun case for my upcoming escape from Hurricane Irma (just kidding).

The girl at the front door was rude. We were approaching the entrance and an elderly couple were exiting through the exit door. We were waiting for them to go past us as not to walk in front of them when she loudly ordered us to go in the other door. I told her we were going to do that after the couple passed us. She never apologized and when we left I again told her she was rude and she did not apologize just stared at me. Will not darken their door again.

After purchasing a Magellan kayak paddle from the Humble location, I decided 3 days later that I wanted to spend $23 more on a lighter paddle.I informed them that I didnt have my receipt handy, and was reassured it wouldnt be an issue since it was purchased with a card, and I was directed to select the replacement (better sale for them). Upon checking out, I was turned away due to my I.D. being a valid passport (TX is a little backed up on mailing I.D.s due to Covid-19, and my paper copy only lasted 2 months). I walked away feeling a bit embarrassed, then called back to speak to the G.M. She confirmed that passports were not accepted, and that they Did a state I.D. thing, there.I thought about it and asked what would happen if I were from Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Italy, etc. She replied, That never happens and is a different scenario. I retorted, So if I flew in from England for a guided Gulf Coast fishing trip, needed gear from you, then had to exchange an item, Id be out of luck?Well, no.So you can accept a passport, but just wont for a TX resident and 25-year customer?She then told me she would, but acted put off, like she was doing a favor for an ungrateful kid.No longer an Academy customer, thanks.

Another shining example of our Houston Area Academy stores, always clean, neat, and well stocked with quality merchandise at fair prices,and staffed by friendly, polite, and knowledgeable sales associates.

My son-in-law from Montana was in need of 2 double rifle hard cases. I took him along with my 3 preteen grandchildren. He quickly found what he was looking for and st a fair price. Being from a small town this store was amazing to the 3 sports loving kids who hunt, fish, play ice hockey, soccer, softball and participate in all outdoor sports. The 4 stars due to lack of ample soccer equipment for youngsters.
