Out of towner here, but it was a great little co-op. They have a good selection of grab n go, and hot items. But I must have missed the rotisserie chicken as they were out. Better luck next time!

Something is seriously wrong with the way they store berries. Yesterday was the 8th time I bought berries (blackberries) only to find that most of them were moldy. This problem occurs at both Greenstar locations in Ithaca. Both my husband and I have voiced this concern to Greenstar employees more than once. With the prices they have and the way they pride themselves in selling “fresh local produce”, this is a disgrace.

In town briefly so it was first visit. Deceptively large store. Was only looking for bagels, at 4pm surprised at the small size of the bread section. If I lived in Ithaca I would give this grocery store a try. Veggie and fruit section selection looked very appealling.

Best Health Food Market in the City Of Ithaca. You can find a lot of organic foods. The staff are fabulous. I have great conversations with them every time I load up my groceries. I highly recommend GreenStar to anyone who wants a healthy lifestyle.

The Greenstar Ithaca takeout ** Panang Tofu Curry ** I would rate top of the list, in Ithaca, compared to the many Asian restaurants on the Commons,, off the Commons, and on Rt13. If you are lucky enough to get to the store on a day when they have it!

GS has the best fruit and vegies in the area. Also, service is the best. Sparkling clean most of the time; sometime when they are busy its hard to keep up in the bulk area.

If you are an organic food lover, this is the right place for you. They have some of the best organic stuff in town!

Wow! The new store is absolutely beautiful. Well organized and fun to shop. Great selections of many organic healthies! The bulk offerings were truly amazing, with lots of things that were new to us. What an enjoyable adventure.

Absolutely beautiful. So many choices for food, and drink and beyond. If youve ever been to Fresh Market, its very much the same kind of store with even some cool stuff Ive never seen out in the capital district. As expected the prices can be pretty steep which unfortunately is the cost of living healthy and sustainably.

Absolutely awesome place to shop for food, my favorite in all of Ithaca. It has delicious food with lots of vegan vegetarian and gluten free options. Theres a big focus on local foods which Im totally here for. I cant recommend GreenStar enough!

Im very pleased indeed with the wide selection and attentive service at the desk and from cashier associates. Surprise discounts discovered esp. on end caps and in the Health and Wellness Department. Houseware, personal care, gift and even stationary areas have expanded.Produce marketing space is very good as always and its footprint expanded as needed: squashes are near fresh prepared food cases and more interesting produce is included in the entryway display. Good for quick PICK-UPS. Instacart is available.Self serve packaging choices have been added to numerous already in-place self-packaging options in produce; to health and wellness products; and to bulk. Shoppers can now again bring containers to fill. Dont forget to record the item # and the Tare (weight of CLEAN empty package or container you bring in to FILL. The coop has a choice of handy supplies for recording this information as you shop the aisles which are marked differently from the two ends of each.Greenstar Cooperative Food market continues to promote values still of less waste and more sustainability. A pair of electric vehicle chargers in the large parking lot are nearby the store.

What a beautiful upgrade from the last location. Its good that they have more room to spread everything out. I just wish the employees didnt act funny around me. I was constantly watched from a few different employees in the store. Yes, Ithaca is more liberated than any other surrounding town/city but people are still hateful on the INSIDE. Im so tired of feeling like I cant be normal. Its not fair that white people get to shop in peace but someone like me cant.

Clean and modern, its a really beautiful store. They have a lot of locally made products, too.

Pricing a little high for in season fruits and vegetables. New store is bright, airy and clean with nice displays but, not as warm and friendly an atmosphere. This is probably due to COVID restrictions. But still one of my favorite places.

The new store is beautiful with a lot of quality name brand products. However, I feel the prices are very expensive and the staff was unprofessional, rude, and unfriendly. I was very disappointed as I liked the atmosphere and staff from the store in the old location.I read some of the other reviews and it seems like others had the same experience.

Shiny new store... Is it still going to be the Greenstar that we all knew and loved? A little hard to find things. I think the organization should be better. Hopefully it becomes more clear after a few visits.

Its not a real cooperative, heres no bulk ordering. But it was coopted by a bunch of high salary corporateers.25% markup for 65% organically fertilized foods shipped from California & abroad?Honestly Itd be more sustainable to shop at Wegmans, a local family who supports local farmers.

They finally have Farmer Ground flour again, but still pre packaged. I did notice you can get your own amour of beans. Its a start back to normalcy.

A great place for fruits (best bananas ever), vegetables (tomatoes), dairy products (local), bread (flex seeds) and grains (moong). Its not all cheap but its alright and the quality is simply unmatched even by Wegmans standards!

Another brick and mortar store.Its brand new so everything inside is new and clean.. They seem to have tried to copy Whole Foods with the layout... It definitely has the feel of every other chain grocery store.The isles are very cramped which makes no sense in this era of Covid-19. The selection of all the departments is bigger than the old location . As for the prices, Ive lived in big cities all over the US and have shopped at co-op but this Ithaca location has some of the highest prices Ive seen... No sure if it because of the colleges or because the only computation is Wegmans but your paying top dollar to shop at this co-op..If Trader Joes or Whole Foods ever comes to this area the store will definitely have to fall in line and lower their prices.. I do like to buy local but this big shinny new store just doesnt give me that vibe... Feels totally like Im in Whole Foods which I refuse to step inside of.. I hope the locals support it !Id be really interested in knowing if they pay there employees a living wage with health insurance or is this just another corporation hiding behind the co-op banner... Myself Ill stick to the farmers markets and continue growing my own food...

Extremely overpriced and the absolute rudest, most incompetent, most unprofessional staff Ive ever seen. To be clear, Ive been a loyal customer for three decades due to dietary reasons and theyve helped me regret every second of it. I dont appreciate the propaganda, either. I think some people just have certain dietary needs and would like to peacefully do their grocery shopping without fuss and move on to the entire rest of their lives. There was a time when this store was a bit friendlier and more conscientious; I think that time has passed, which is a loss to those of us who were originally involved in the co-op and who really rely on it for health reasons.

Can not explain how Happy it makes me to come here! They have everything you could imagine and at very decent prices! Never have I walked out less than amazingly satisfied. It takes me over 1 1/2 hours to get there from my house and its SO worth it.

Great alternative to chain grocery stores. They have a good selection of organic and natural foods. I dont really understand the while co op thing, but it works pretty seem less to consumers. I walked in while visiting Ithaca for a weekend and found everything I usually shop for at a good price. They have everything you would find at other grocery, and more geared towards us health conscious, gluten free, dairy free, vegan customers alike.

Love the new store! Cant wait until they finish moving in and are completely stocked.

Well, this place is a great find! Its a very well-stocked organic food retailer, with just about everything organic you could imagine. Ill admit to being pretty much of an organic newbie, but I was very impressed, and found myself fascinated by a whole range of organic products I would never have imagined. Another one of those places with that very positive tolerant Cornell vibe that you seem to feel through so much of Ithaca.Im straight, but my wife and I are always encouraged to see a place thats overtly LGBTQ positive.

Awesome selection of produce--mostly organic and often grown locally. Wide selection of groceries, health and beauty, favoring organic and natural products. Extensive bulk food selection. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. An excellent instance of a food co-op!

Always delicious food and friendly staff! The checkout line set up is a little chaotic when it gets busy but we are all still adjusting to the covid crazies.

Always smells great in here! I love their food bar, their tofu is delicious, and I dont even eat much tofu. I love their bulk herb and tea selections. Thats mainly what I go there for. Their specialty beers are nifty too.

Greenstar rocks! Delicious deli and hot bar, wonderfully huge bulk section, great dry groceries and refrigerated foods too. The wellness section is bursting at the seams with good stuff & the staff really knows how to help you out. Fabulous sales as well-check out the Basics program (look for the shelf tags) for some additional excellent prices. Always seems to be a bargain on local brews as well! This place never lets me down. I moved away from Ithaca-i really wish we had a resource like this where I live!

Im not sure why the reviews for this store are so high. It seems like the employees themselves are trying to boost the ratings. We really tried to give this place a chance, since it is conveniently located near our house, but the latest purchase of rotten eggs made us decide not to come back again. Two issue with this store: poor quality and bad taste. Fruits like avocados and coconuts are sometimes rotten. Fish in the sushi turns a weird color and does not have the test of fresh product. We realized eggs were rotten after making an omelette. Regarding bad taste- Im a supporter of organic products, but it doesnt seem that the products pass a taste test before making it onto the shelves. Ice cream is watered down, provolone cheese is so salty it cannot be consumed and many of other products have a weird texture and taste. Local and organic does not have to taste like crap.

Like the B E S T. Delicious prepared food, always amazing produce selection from around the area. The staff is interesting and friendly. They practice composting recycling and more like 100%. A must for grocery shopping. Oh yeah, and the BULK foods selection is incredible!

So, Greenstar and I have a love-hate relationship. I love high quality food, but Im also cheap. I make the relationship work, as I rely on Greenstar for specific staples that they tend to stock at a reasonable price, and for products not available anywhere else. As far as co-ops go, their pricing is quite competitive, however for people not used to buying organic the prices may seem a bit eye-popping. I usually buy bread, eggs, coffee, yogurt, specific vegetables that are better organic, and lots of bulk food items (flour, nuts, etc.), and a limited amount of food products like peanut butter that are also reasonably priced. Definitely appreciate they are here, but couldnt ever do all my shopping here.

Great healthy products

Extremely over priced and the people who work here are either really nice or stuck up. I only come here for a grab and go healthy snack or drink nowadays. I purchased just 3 small items and ended up paying over 20 bucks. If you go grocery shopping expect to pay top dollar for stuff you could easily get at trader joes, sadly we dont have a decently priced healthy foods store around here and thats upsetting. Id rather go to wegmens or tops they both have organic foods sections and with membership cards you can get real deals on items. Greenstar member card does literally nothing lol. I personally cant wait for a whole foods, or trader joes to come to Ithaca . Maybe you will lower your outrageous prices.

I had a great experience! Very friendly staff who offered a space for me to put my luggage while I found some food. I had a pretty good pre-made vegan sandwich and sat in their cafe area. This little market was exactly what I needed after a 5 hour bus trip!

This is a over hyped organic Co Op. TEverything is over priced and dose not cater to lower income families. It is pretty disappointing when a place that is supposed to have good ideals and message doesnt even find a way to make themselves accessable to more people.You can go join a local CSA for less as long as you have the money up front. Plus you will be supporting the farmers more directly and a middle man doesnt get a cut. Support local farmers by buying direct if you can manage it.

Very impressed with the new store.

I can get a dozen jumbo eggs for $2.40 dozen but I can buy 1, 2, 7, 18, or 60 at once and no one bats an eye. I literally have bought a single egg before. And a single stick of butter too. They have sheeps feta fresh and delicious. I love the Hidelberg (?) French peasant bread at $1.99 and the Multigrain also for $1.99. They had organic avocados for $1.25 each for months and months. In short their prices are very affordable when they can have them and reasonable when they dont. I love their dips and incredible variety of granola, like someone else commented it is a pretty huge bulk section for such a tiny store. The store is, well cramped at best but it grows on you, you realize you get even toilet paper if thats what you need and youre off the store pretty fast with all your (grocery) shopping needs. Im happy when I go there, and you can ask for a tour if you get lost getting things.

Hippie organic co-op market. Prices arent cheap but everything is high quality with ingredients you can pronounce. Prepared foods are typically delicious.
