Passed by this Old School New Jersey diner and decided to stop in I ordered two eggs sunny-side up with home fries and pork sausage. It was very good the waitress was very friendly. The inside and outside took you back to the days of hot rods and the 60s. When Im in the area again I would definitely return
My usual go to spot for breakfast dont know what happened this am. The gentleman was nice when I called to make them aware but he insisted that it couldnt have happened! But as well all know ANYTHING is possible we all human. No need to lie when you have receipts. I cant make up mold!!! Have a blessed Sunday all!!!!
The Miss America Diner is awesome! We were visiting from Florida, and came here two days in a row for breakfast. Good, home cooked food, & clean restaurant. The staff are all so friendly, and the owner Tony is great!! We wish we had a spot like this back home in Florida. Great prices, great food and great service. We will definitely come back next time were in the area. Thanks for your amazing hospitality!
Great selection of food, and friendly staff! They take your order and get you your food in minutes. Great service, would definitely go there again!
Miss America diner on West side Avenue what can I say about this place Ive been to a lot of restaurants and this restaurant is the cleanest the food is outrageous especially on breakfast time you have to try the corned beef hash its homemade its delicious the staff is very nice the host is very nice overall they really get 20 stars from me I love this diner ever since Ive been back up north this place is a great place to eat and theres parking. Miss America diner is a great family restaurant visit when you get a chance.
Nice and friendly staff! Breakfast lunch and dinner is always good at Miss America diner!! Turkey burger and the potato bun is just delicious! Not crowded and comfortable environment. Cream of Turkey soup is also a must try!! 5 starts from me!!
Always a happy surprise. Miss America is much better than you would ever expect. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and real corned beef hash. Its the best diner in Jersey City.
Outstanding... burger was delicious and Insanely flavorful.. fries were tasty.. and mozzarella sticks were awesome.. service was fast.. 10 out of 10...
Last of JCs relics of time past. Last of the good Americana, with decor and feel of oldskool diners
Awesome coffee! Starbucks and the others could learn here. The server was attentive and friendly, the food came out piping hot and FAST. The fastest Ive ever experienced at any diner, it was delicious. If youre in Jersey City and like diners, just go here.
This is my first time ordering from here. i ordered a ham, cheese, egg on a roll sandwich(egg sandwich with meat), hot chocolate and extra bacon. everything was hot and packaged nicely and was sent to me very quickly .. from ordering to getting delivered took under 15 minutes. the hot chocolate is a nice size for the price. BUT some of what i ordered either had no taste or was very unsatisfying. the hot chocolate tasted like hot water with a hint of chocolate. the sandwich was very salty in certain areas and there was no taste with the ham. all i tasted was egg, salt and cheese. the bacon was over cooked, burnt, hard and it smelled very weird. worst bacon i ever tasted couldnt finish after the 4th bite. very disappointed with my order and was hoping to try the lunch and dinner meals but nevermind.
Salad was ok, fried chicken strips were delicious
Enjoyable breakfast. Generous, had to take some food home. The pancakes were better the next day...
Good food. Pleasant staff. Great ambiance
We had a soso breakfast - the apple pancakes were a bit dark, but the filling was very tasty. I ordered an omelette with Gyro meat and hash browns. The omelette was executed very poorly, not fluffy at all, and the egg whites and yolk werent mixed properly. It was very dry and the meat gave off a fishy smell. The hash browns look as if they came straight out of a freezer bag, and they were quite greasy. The coffee was good, but I had to ask for a refill after completely emptying the cup. I have been to better diners :(
I’ve been going here since I was a little girl with my parents. I love that the menu hasn’t changed, and neither has the amazing service!! It’s a true diner & simply historic. Their pancakes are ALWAYS on point and fluffy. And I love their home fries!!! And they can replace all pork with turkey. Their food always hits the spot... I can eat here everyday lol
Great food served hot n fast. Never have any complaints
Food is great, staff is great always welcomed with a smile! Reasonable prices!
I’m not sure what I like better, breakfast food or the desserts. All I know is that everything here is delicious and I’ve always been happy with the service.
It’s very clean, old school diner :) we went there in the morning, it wasn’t crowded. It was chill and relaxed. We had garden omelette with hash browns. They were a little greasy but tasted good.UPDATE: I have to update my review; The second time we went there there was a cockroach on the table we have to change the table. The waitress was kind and the food was fine.
I loved the old classic diner design of Miss America and the food was great!
This place is my go to everyday place. Everyone is like family. I love it here
I really like there breakfast the staff very friendly food is really good never had any problems there I go there all the time with my active grandsons
I love the hospitalityand the service is also good so far. Even before the Covid hit I had great service with this Dinner. No complaints from me. Beautiful staff. Respect ppl and you will be respected.
Great service. Coffee was fresh and strong. We ordered breakfast and it was delicious! We cant wait to go back.
Service and food were awesome. Quiet little diner in Jersey City.
Awesome atmosphere,great staff/service!
Food was great. Service a little slow and they didnt seem to offer ice coffee refill, but could also be the fact that it was difficult to get any attention even when we tried to pay!
The atmosphere and staff were very friendly. It’s a great spot to eat with family, friends, your significant other, or even just by yourself. The staff is attentive, the food is cheaper than other places in Jersey City (Brownstone Pancake Factory and IHOP) and still good quality food. However, at the end ofmy meal there was a bit of confusion about payment, probably because it was my first time there.
The servers are very nice, specially Maria. She always remembers our favorite orders. Atmosphere is friendly and homey.
The food is nasty & dry. They messed u my order. Burned my waffle and forget to give me my side of home fries.. Definitely wont be ordering from them again..
Great place to eat they have to change their hamburgers buns
Please go and support this dinner you can order n pickup. Has parking this is a Mom n Pops place thats been around for many decades in Jersey City one of the Citys Gems .Great food .great service and they treat you like family from when you walk in the door till you leave .Check it out! Specially during this difficult times. We need to support businesses like these so they wont disappear !!! AMEN
Very nice wait staff reasonable prices
Its a really great atmosphere. It has great customers and waiters, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. Decent prices.
The best spinach pie in the land!
Best authentic diner in jersey city shows so much history food is pretty good
Waitress was nice and the food was good...
The worse eggs Benedict Ive ever had. Coffee made me run to the bathroom in less than 5 minutes. Thats bad. Means your coffee machine is dirty. I rather make my own. And the only waitress seems entitled. Worse place Ive eaten breakfast. I should have gone to IHOP.
Ordered from them for the first time through Uber eats. Food was amazing and the portion was just right. Will be going back there in person to sit down and enjoy another great breakfast. Thanks Guys!!
Closed at 7:00 pm. Fake hours.
Service and food were good .
Always good food.Today was a soup of the day and grilled cheese sandwich. The soup was cream of potato and the bowl was plentiful
Great food, great service.Only complaint, music to loud at times
Decent food and decent prices. The service was really good even with the social distance thing. The staff is top notch
Great service, great vibe!
Great service, prices, and food. No frills, just a high quality diner perfect to eat alone or with others.
Every time I order on Uber eats they constantly miss my order notes. This time was the last straw. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and specifically checked NO CHEESE and it still was cheese on it.
Good place when you need to eat something fast
Food was good, but they dont enforce the use of mask and I felt uncomfortable ..
Worst breakfast ever. Sausage old and undercooked. Pancakes so thin and tasteless. Luckily they filled my tea several times.
Quick Service. Awesome Prices!
Food was delicious and served by friendly staff.
A great diner in an area where such establishments are closing at an alarming rate. Serving breakfast and lunch, the portions are generous and filling, whether its an omlette, a hamburger or salad. The owner is a colorful gentleman who is friendly to staff and customers alike. Even though I live on the opposite coast, I seek out these classic diners (especially in NJ and PA) that are a part of a slowly disappearing Americana.
Not sure why this establishment has such high ratings, but the experience my party received today was incredibly disappointing. My party all ordered specials, which included food and a small juice. The food was average, nothing great. The issue mostly occurred when it was time to pay the bill. After receiving the bill, drinks were charged separately and as a large. Just out of curiosity, due to the offerings on the menu, we inquired as to why we were charged separately and not like the special suggested (small juices). In return the waitress says that unless we specify we want a small juice that they will automatically charge for large, despite a small being apart of the special. How would people, who are also not from here, know about such assumption? We bring up to her that based off of the menu, our assumption would be that we would simply receive a small, especially because she asked us first what juice would be like. From there she calls the manager, Larry, over to further deal with the issue and he comes over. The first thing that he says is “So y’all don’t want to pay for your drinks?” Incredibly disrespectful. We then explain the situation to Larry and he goes to check out our bill, realizing the waitress was indeed at fault. But, says as he walks away from the table after giving us the new bill “now wipe those attitudes off of your faces.” What type of manager talks to their customers like this? As a person who works in customer service, I would never talk to anyone let alone a paying customers like this. Our inquiry was justified and reasonable, but the way the entire situation was handled was completely uncalled for.
They provided outdoor seating, not enough but it exist... Needs to stock more variety ..
Went there as a kid with my grandfather, still great food and staff. Iconic, classic JC Diner.
Good food friendly people love the place
This place when I first entered was so nice. But it was all a front cause I was a new customer. The staff and owner here are very mean and disrespectful. Theyll talk down on you and ask you what you want to eat in a rushly and very unpleasing way. It will make you feel uncomfortable. I dont recommend anyone to go there. They are nasty people and the food is not fresh. Its warmed up in the microwave but youll never see it. Some might be cooked if its theres none left. This is by far the worst place to eat in Jersey City. The surrounding areas residents do not go there. After going there I asked the people in the community about the place and they said dont ever go there. The people are the worst in customer service. This was a real learning experience in Jersey City. I love all the other parts of Jersey City.
Excellent food, excellent service and great prices.. the staff is very welcoming every time I go there leaving me feeling like family.. a true hidden gem for jersey city.. keep it up Miss America Diner, Ill be back soon! 💯👍
Luvvvv it, good price also
Great traditional corner diner. My go to spot for all the good American classics.
Lovely staff and great food for after a hard training session
Make sure you watch the tip.... waitresses are crooks. I didn’t see the 40% tip until after leaving the diner.. luckily my bill was low
The waitstaff was lovely (my dad drinks a ton of water, mentioned it early on, and she gave us a pitcher into ourselves!). When we went it was quiet and slow. Food is okay. Not great, but okay. Ordered chicken gyro and turkey club - both a little dry
Not the worst but I wouldnt bring my grandma here.
Great food at a great price! Staff is friendly and it seems like they are under new management. Overall still a good place to eat!
Theyve been there for almost 80 years. What can anyone say to that. The food is typical American with a touch of Greek, as the owner is Greek-American, Tony a good guy. This is a traditional family owned Dinner with a stable staff, so youll always get the same waitress and say good morning back. An iconic neighborhood dinner that has lasted 80 years. I recommend it to every one.
Over crowded and under cooked
Loved the food and the intimate feel of the place. Its family friendly. However they do not have any baby changing tables in the bathroom!
Great service. Great food
Everything was great and tasty. The place has a very good vibe that binds you in itself and you enjoy staying there. The staff was really polite and made sure that we got each and every service in time.
Nice place to stop and get a good meal. Family friendly! And we got a baked good to have for breakfast the next morning.
I love the food, prices and attention. I have lived in Jersey City many years but only recently I started eating here. I always am served by Susie and she is the best. I tip her well because of the detailed attention. Highly recommended.
Not so bad. Food is decent. Waitress was very attentive. Coffee was decent. I have only been here a handful of times. It is honestly my second choice diner but no bad experiences so far!
Rude and condescending service we received from our waitress and the manager Larry. The diner over charged us for drinks when we all ordered the special. The special includes a small drink which is what we expected. However, once we received the bill,?we politely asked why, and her response was “you never said you didn’t want large”. What waitress talks to paying consumers in that fashion. Then when she brings the manager over the very first thing he says with his hand on his hips, “so y’all don’t want to pay the bill”. What human being as a manager doesn’t even say hello or introduce himself. Then asks what we ordered as if he can’t read the receipt in front of him. Walks away and still mumbles a sarcastic remark. And as we leave again asks us if we paid. The attitude they projected was unprofessional, bigotry, and unnecessary.
It is a vintage place with a long history
Been going here for years. Great stop. Portions and prices are right on point. primarily I go for breakfast and sometimes lunch. The owner is a character. very lively. he is a big part of why I go there.highly recommend.
I never do reviews but Im doing it today..Placed an order for a cheeseburger deluxe well done with fried onions and onion rings but received a bloody cheeseburger deluxe. When I called to complain about my order, they agreed to resend it correctly. I assumed that they would resend the whole order so I packed up eveything so that delivery guy could take back the order that was made wrong. Boy was I wrong. Instead they sent back a regular cheeseburger. I called to speak to the manager and asked him where was the rest of the order. His response was for me to take the onions, lettuce, and tomatoes off the old burger and put it on the new burger. Really take the items off the bloody burger!!! I told him that was very tacky and he told me I should find some place else to order from. Youre right!
Very, very, very tasty !!!! And mega huge portions. Personally, I ate one grilled trout (by the way, fresh trout is delivered to the restaurant every morning). For dessert, I just didn’t have enough)))) coffee, strawberry strudel (my daughter took), dry Argentinean wine- Mmmm, everything’s wonderful🙂There are many visitors, but there is always a place. Polite staff, fast service. Definitely recommend it!
Great food
Save your money, skip this one. Food was mediocre and the service was worse. We had lasagna and chicken cordon blue panini. Lasagna tasted like it came out of a box, and the panini was over breaded and overcooked. Hostess and man who brought silverware to our table could not even bother to respond to our cordial greetings of hello. Next time we are in Jersey City, we will spend our money elsewhere. You should too. Too many choices to settle for bad food and bad service. (Caveat: our actual server was fine, but not enough to make up for the food and rudeness.)
Yeah this place I didnt really care for the service was lousy it took too long to bring our food I dont see myself going there again
Great
