Local coffee joint with an incredibly wide variety of not only coffee beverages, but teas, shakes, smoothies and juices as well. In addition, they have plenty of baked goods and a small sampling of food choices. Compared to other coffee shops in town the prices here are a little higher, but they have a great rewards program and they donate a portion of sales to a local non profit every month, so that makes up for it. Staff are always quick, efficient and friendly as well. Stop by once or twice a month and never have had any issues.
I have been a patron for years, off and on, and love the drinks and expanded menu options. Parking was always a challenge, but seems to been improved now that the bank is gone. The drive through is a great option but S-L-O-W.
Great staff, gooood coffee 😋
I enjoyed the local coffee with my wife and brother. We will be back again when we are in town for some good coffee.
Great coffee. Love the abundantly planted garden areas for outdoor dining and coffee sipping!
Food and drink was delicious and the place has a very cool vibe. Only meh sort of issue was the staff was kind of friendly but not great. Was a little busy when I arrived and staff did not acknowledge anyone at the counter until they were finished with their task for someone else and it was actually your turn. I have always been very big on even a quick nod and a be right with you. Not a huge deal and will definitely continue to return.
Oakland Street location. The service was very nice and professional. The salad was amazing. The smoothie was very good. They have a wonderful selection of pastries, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and desserts. All is homemade and locally produced. The dining room was clean and very popular. The bathroom was clean and stocked.I will definitely go again.
Very busy, but our drinks and food were fast, hot and delicious. Staff was friendly, and the place was clean and well decorated. Lived the flowers outside!
Great matcha latte and apparently great coffee (I dont drink it so wouldnt know). Also am really impressed with their pastries/baked goods and smoothies.
Your usual Water Street deliciousness, now with a convenient drive-thru when on the go. Employee was especially kind and helpful with my couple of questions. Love Water Street.
Great customer service and great drink options. I got a delicious white hot chocolate with almond milk and it was made very well. Will definitely come back here when in Kalamazoo again.
From the outside, the small building looks like an old and much-used, anonymous-looking strip mall storefront. Inside, however, was bright, clean, welcoming and pleasing to the eye. The morning crowd was good-sized, but my caffeine companion and I were helped immediately. Reasonable prices, very competitive. The coffee, a cup of Ethiopian drip, was fantastic. Piping hot and fresh, perfectly roasted so you can actually TASTE the specific notes in the varietal. Plenty of seating was available despite the crowd of students and people waking up before going to work. The ambiance was excellent; my friend and I were able to easily converse without having to shout or strain to hear each other. I did not order any of the many stellar looking pastries, but they all looked very fresh and quite tempting. Excellent coffeehouse. Starbucks...who? Im now forever a Water Street booster. Excellent in every regard.
Coffee was too strong for me. Wonderful atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Best coffee evah! And great food, too.
Great coffee and food.Wide selection of coffee beans.Very nice mugs for sale as well.
I always support local whenever possible. This is a perfect example. This is a business born and bred in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The coffe house smells of fresh ground coffee. You can smell and see the treats and food. I love the fact that they put the roasting date on the bags. You know you are getting fresh. It has cases displaying their coffees and teas. The cold case is filled with sweets, fruit cups and savory items. You can even get hardboiled eggs. This is exactly the type of business I will go out of my way to support.
Absolutely phenomenal coffee! Got a black Americano and the single origin was deliciously floral. I’m not in Kalamazoo that often, but this will definitely be my go-to.If you’re worried about COVID, I’d order ahead as it was somewhat busy inside.
Been to this location three times and all three times the staff are rude and appear as if they dont want you there. I love the coffee, sandwiches, deserts and wouldnt mind the overpriced menu if the staff were a little friendlier and less pompous. Have never experienced this with other locations. Wont be returning for sure.
I didnt get any coffee but the conversation and atmosphere were amazing. Would visit again.
I stopped by yesterday, and immediately noticed the differences between Oakland and Water Street. Both locations have the cuteness factor down pat, but Oakland has easier access to restrooms (from multiple angles) and the larger parking lot ups the UX factor - which is paramount to my routine. I very much enjoyed the cold brew and breakfast burrito. I will be returning for more stimulants - or until the 131 business opens up again.
I just moved to town and this is already my favorite coffee place!
As always (minus one occasion out of a 100+ or so) delightful! Excellent coffee, great Biscottis, and generally intelligent employees (and patrons) to deal with. Only reason I dont eat there more is Im on a perpetual diet!
The staff are usually very friendly and helpful. Cozy atmosphere though there can be longer lines during peak hours, and seating is limited. Also parking is less than ideal, so you may need to park in the adjacent mall lot and walk over. Food is very good, and coffee is decent overall (though not my favorite). Overall, its a great place to stop for a quick bite or hot drink.
Great hot chocolate, wish I had known it was dark chocolate, I would have kept whip cream or marshmallows on it... but it was still good... very hospitable...
Water street is great in theory, but the downtown and Portage locations execute it better. Physical location too small and layout and staffing preclude them getting moble orders done efficiently. 2 for 2 on horrible long waits for simple to go orders.
I absolutely love Waterstreet. Great for all age groups, whether you’re a parents bringing kids on a weekend, a student studying or meeting friends, or an adult stopping by on the way to work. The staff is always friendly and the environment is inviting and unique. Best iced latte in town! :)
A little pricey, but nice selection of drinks, snacks and to-go fresh lunch items. Friendly service.
One of my all time favorite places to sip a cup of tea. It might just be the memories associated with this place but I absolutely love it. I live in UT and am Soon moving to AK and I wanted to get little MI gifts for my pals at work from the mitten state. I bought my friend a fall tea that she will love and its also a good little gift from the place I call home. Missing the mitten now.Never take the little thing for granted 😉❤️🍻
This is truly a third place for so many Kalamazoo community members. I go here multiple times a week, and have so for years on end. Always for coffee, sometimes for food. Great place to sit in - alone. Equally useful for meetings or dates of all types. Perfect design and layout of the space - comfortable. Highly recommended.
Best iced coffee i’ve had in a long time, food was right up there with it.
Great coffee, friendly staff and they have a bar now
I LOVE this Water Street location. Although the downtown location is slightly closer, I enjoy coming here because of the slightly bigger space and the staff. Ophie is the best (current manager) and always super helpful and welcoming. Only drawback is that it gets really busy and can be hard to find a seat. But, who can blame them for being so popular. Would recommend checking them out.
Not the best coffee in Kalamazoo, but pretty good overall. The shop looks pretty nice inside and has a good vibe.
Really good blends of coffee and eats. Great place to meet up with someone when you want more than just a cafe.
Best coffee in town! 😄
The enticing fragrance of roasted coffee, the succulent flavor of handmade food, and the glow of genuine, smiling faces. These are the things Ive come to expect when visiting the Water Street Coffee on Oakland Dr. They are a phenomenal place to grab a cup o joe with a large selection of coffees, daily specials, and a relaxing atmosphere. In addition to putting love into each cup, they prepare each drink quickly and accurately for you on-the-go coffee heads! If youre in the market for a cup, tumbler, or some tea accessories, they have a broad and affordable selection of merchandise for sale.If I had one complaint, I would remark on the parking lot being crowded but there is a large adjacent parking area within a very short walk.I would give Water Street Coffee Joint on Oakland a 10/10 and highly recommend anyone who enjoys coffee, tea, or handmade, delicious snacks to visit and enjoy their fantastic atmosphere.
This is the best coffee place in Kalamazoo. I dont care what other people say, fourth Coast, Etc. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, describe everything if you ask, and answer any stupid questions you may have. Many products to choose from to eat and drink this place gets an A plus in my book. The Veranda out front is a wonderful place to watch people in traffic as well as you enjoy a sip of their wonderful Java.
Water Street has the best coffee and coffee related drinks Ive ever had. Their food is amazing as well. Anything from Water Street tastes better and is at a more reasonable price than that other major coffee chain...
Espresso was good but not great. The 20 minute wait to get it was the longest I have ever waited anywhere. Nice seating area.
First time there and I will be going back.
Coffees good. Try the espresso cream soda
Water Street sells exceptional coffee and specialty coffee drinks as well as gourmet snacks, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. The interior is comfortable, cozy, and creative; locals go here to catch up, talk business, do homework - whatever. This place isnt cheap but the quality, taste, and atmosphere add up and make it worth the price.
I love this place. Its a perfect right halfway stop between Chicago and East Lansing. They roast amazing beans--one of the few places to understand the importance of the light roast! Great coffee, good snacks, and homemade dog treats. 6 stars.
Food is good, but very pricey. I wouldnt choose it as a place to hang out for long, Id choose somewhere less expensive. Spent $7 on a drink with tip and thats just excessive for a small, local place. Their food is small but amazingly delicious, and you sure pay for it. Their drinks are amazing and they have many dairy alternatives! I gave three stars because of the cost of items. However, I changed my mind and gave 4 when I remembered their rewards program and the free cookie you get when you sign up! Thats a nice perk. Beautiful space, lots of seating. Minimal parking in their lot, but overall its a positive experience, especially if youre in the kind of income bracket that can frequent the place.
Water Street has the best coffee and coffee related drinks Ive ever had. Their food is amazing as well. Anything from Water Street tastes better and is at a more reasonable price than that other major coffee chain...
Great coffee and food. usually lots of college students studying but is quiet for the most part. Really great service and kind people.
Just as high quality as the downtown location with more space. The bakery and lunch options are both supplied from the same off site kitchen. Water Street is no longer the best coffee in town. However, it is still some of the best coffee around.
Every time I go in the staff is friendly, the coffee and food are delicious. I didnt get food this time, only coffee. I purchased Midnight Oil beans for my pour over and just made it tonight. So fabulous. Thanks ladies for the info for picking out the right one for me.
After a long drive from New York, Water Street is a must stop. The coffee is always great, the food delicious and healthy, and the staff friendly! There is no place else I would rather get my morning coffee in Kalamazoo!😀
This may be Kalamazoos best kept secret. Water Street has really good coffee (I recommend their caramel latte) and has plenty of seating.
We were on a day trip to Kalamazoo and wanted to stop by for a coffee in a highly rated place, regarded by some as one of 7 best places in the world to have a coffee. And what an experience we had. Placing an order was fairly fast although the person taking the order knew little about brew options available. Then the wait started. Frustrated patrons waited for 20+ minutes for a single barista to produce one drink at a time. Anyone who planned to enjoy having coffees with family or friends had to have half of the drinks cold waiting for others to be made. Coffee was ok, certainly not up to hype reviews. While this maybe an individual experience, i would not go back.
Fast service. Excellent coffee. Comfortable enough to read a book for a half hour while sipping a cappuccino.
Omg they are the absolute SWEETEST. The cashier offered me a treat because I had been waiting a smidge long (I didn’t even notice) for my coffee and I had a long drive ahead of me. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll definitely be coming back!
Great coffee and tea, an excellent if small selection of snacks and small plates, warm and friendly staff. Always clean. And they have the best homemade dog treats...we stop here on our way home from Chicago all the time and always grab some treats for our pups.
Flavorful coffee and a quiet, friendly atmosphere.
Outstanding coffee shop!Delicious drinks, yummy snacks. Adequate seating.
Friendly, helpful service. Pleasant atmosphere. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating
Water Street is the best local coffee shop. They have a great selection of coffee drinks and teas. Its pricey but worth it. I recommend the Mocha Del Sol. Youll never find another once you try it
Gotta love local coffee places, and this is a great one. Water Street has a huge following. This location had a recent upgrade, and you can see it in the counter area when you walk in. It looks updated, very nice and modern, and has a much better and improved display of their foods and desserts. The only two downsides for me were that a) on a Wednesday afternoon, it was a challenge to find a seat, so you may want to be prepared to not have a spot to sit (if the back room isnt available, like when I was there) and b) the prices for some things feel a bit high for me. For example, a single vanilla cupcake in the dessert case was $3.50 (and to be honest, it wasnt even a showy cupcake!). All the food looked delicious and wonderful so its probably worth the price if you want anything, but I just stuck with my $5 medium chai tea.
One of my two favorite coffees in Kalamazoo and one of my favorite places to meet up with a friend over a cup. Newly renovated, the atmosphere is welcoming, service is usually friendly. Good, wholesome food options too but not what Im usually there for so cant speak much to that. Parking can be a challenge - I usually grab a spot a bit north of their building in the parking lot off Oakland.
I loved this quaint new age coffee spot. Great food and beverages. Nice spot to meet with friends. Going to go back for sure.
Small unassuming coffee joint. Inside and outside seating. A 16 oz. Iced Decaf was $ 4.00. On the edge of the Oakwood neighborhood. Limited parking in their lot, but a large adjoining parking lot. Our barista was very pleasant and helpful.
This is a nice place with lovely side Munchies you can get. Awful nice place to have a meeting with a friend
Its always a pleasant experience but they had little food to offer because the delivery was just being made and I was there at noon. Overall I recommend this place to everyone and meet friends there because its usually very consistent. they have nice outdoor seating and WiFi. the renovation turned out well.
Nice place, delicious food. I love sleeping bear coffee, but they have crazy prices compared to Starbucks. They charge for flavors shots and have high prices for the small cup of coffee.
Love this place. My favorite coffee shop around. Lattes always taste good and plenty of complimentary food choices. Fun place to hang out too.
A coffee and Incredible Bar will always sweeten your day. The staff are engaging and friendly. Restrooms and seating area are clean. Value is good based on quality of products and size of baked goods.
Great local coffee
Coffee is delicious, the staff are great, and the patio area is perfect to relax and enjoy your drink
The place is well kept, the staff are friendly, and most importantly the food and drink is delectable. A great place to sit and do work for a few hours, if you can find a table.
Local coffee joint. Delicious beverages, sweets, and food items. Unique atmosphere without being a sterile chain. Shop local!
Hip coffee shop with a good selection of food and drinks. Friendly staff and fast service. Outdoor seating also available.
Love this coffee shop - one of a kind! Only complaint: I wish they were faster! Please hire people with a sense of urgency
I often stop here for coffee (love the blends, which is rare because I usually prefer single origin!) but also meet friends here (or downtown) because I love to support local businesses. Heres the deal: great staff, yummy treats, and SUPER delicious coffee. go!
Students, make sure to get their monday discount of 50% off. Great place for a coffee date, and I love their new furniture!
THE place for coffee snobs (which comes with a price). Limited immediate parking, but large lot close by. Inside is cozy and has couch options, but is often crowded. Lots of outlets! Really good breakfast options, hot and cold, as well as homemade sweets.
Always good coffee. Service was a bit slow at this location. Not sure of they were understaffed or oddly busy for that time of day. Only two people behind the bar.
My favorite coffee place.
Great coffee and great food.
My favorite spot to sip coffee and work all day in Kalamazoo. Delicious coffee and tea and many homemade food selections (great healthy lunch). Friendly atmosphere too.
Wow, great tasting latte! Made me think I should be talking Italian or something.
Food was decent, had a big-ish dining area. But most tables were dirty. And the food is a bit pricey
Glad I I chose to come to Water Street instead of another place.I wanted a quick, Good breakfast biscuit. The biscuit was good, fast & good value. Oh, and the coffee is GR8. 5 stars...
The coffee was delicious! Nice, comfy ambiance!
Always friendly staff and delicious coffee and snacks. Cute place that is usually busy. They have a good selection of mugs and coffee paraphernalia to purchase as well.
Nice selection of single origin and blends. Friendly and hipster baristas. Unique coffee related gifts. Its a top notch place, often very busy
Awesome coffee spot. Great beverages and eats, and a solid wireless connection. What else do you need? (Besides more parking.)
Great coffee and food. They have vegetarian, GF, and vegan options for people. Service is fast, because they have multiple people behind the counter and are staffed well. The one thing that is annoying is the parking lot is too small.
Fine local place, wifi and great coffee. Small but interesting food and desserts
Got an awesome Vanilla Latte here tonight to study for finals. Their prices are among the steeper ones, but you get what you pay for. Ive done a lot of homework in the Parkview location and for the most part its a great place to study.
Great coffee place. My favorite you should try is the Iced Coffee with a BANG!
Great food, good coffee. Clean and well maintained. Friendly service. Prices are high though.
Wonderfully friendly staff. Great coffee. Be aware the parking is limited on the property, but there is a shopping center immediately adjacent and a space for pickup customers.
Service was excellent- no wait, Carmel frappe tasted great too.
Its gotten more corporate over the years, but always is a great place to get some work done. Excellent coffee, best in town.
Very nice coffeehouse atmosphere. Dark roast a little bitter for my taste--Ill try the light next time. Music a little loud, but good music.
Great food, amazing tea options, best hot chocolate in town.
