This is one of those shops where you might pop in for a book, but end up leaving feeling like one of the family. They have such a nice selection of new AND used books, and all so reasonably priced! They also buy used books back from you so you can pick out something new! The staff is suuuuper friendly and helpful and kind, and I just love stopping in for new books and good conversation. This place is such an asset to our Lafayette downtown area - if you havent been in yet, you must go check them out!

I stopped by today after having lunch nearby. What a gem this little store is! I picked up a book for myself and one for my kiddo. There was a nice selection of books at great prices. The lady working was nice and I enjoyed our little chat. I will most definitely be back!

This is a great little bookstore. Tamsin, the owner, knows her books and is the kind of book lover everyone should know. She calls me and many others by my name when I walk in. My only beef is that Im mostly a non-fiction person and Main Street books leans toward fiction. Thats true of just about all book stores, though.

Remember when your town was made up of small, locally owned shops where the proprietors knew you by name and visiting their businesses felt like visiting friends? That is exactly the experience you get at Main Street Books. They have a great selection and are great at recommending the perfect gift for a tough relative to shop for. Huge selection, but it isn’t overwhelming. Amazing location. Cozy, friendly atmosphere.

Main Street Books offers an eclectic selection of new and used books for readers of all ages. Customers are also welcome to sell and trade their own gently used books for either cash or store credit. The owners are very friendly and always make the extra effort to get to know their customers and make them feel welcome. I definitely recommend this business to all bibliophiles.

Main Street Books is a wonderful, locally owned bookstore! I love popping in this downtown shop to browse the shelves, chat with the owner, and BUY BOOKS! This bookstore is the reason I now love indie bookstores. When my wife and I first visited some time ago, the first thing we noticed were books featuring black characters by black authors on display in the front of the store. Totally unexpected, but thoroughly appreciated, weve been frequenting Main Street Books ever since. In addition to a substantial selection of racially/ethnically diverse books, this bookstore has culture, prices affordable for a family of three on a grad student wage, and loveable owners. The Greater Lafayette area has quite a few high quality bookstores, but Main Street stands out to me because its small in size yet big in value. The books drew me in, but the communal vibe is why I keep going back.
