The buying experience was easy. The only negative was the coffee pot always seemed to be empty.Service is another issue. We had a couple of things that needed attention. One, the driver’s window made a screeching sound when lowered. Second, the battery was dead a little over a week after buying the car. I calledTo schedule an appointment, but the soonest was two-plus weeks later. They checked the car and ordered a part for the window and said the battery was OK. “If it gives you a problem, replace the battery and we’ll reimburse you.”We took the car on a trip and it ran fine, until the next morning when we woke to a dead battery. Lucky for us, there was a Honda dealer close by. We jump started the car and got it over there. Battery and master fuse (cracked) $353.00.I feel that if service REALLY checked everything completely, none of this would’ve happened. We’ll see if they follow through with reimbursement or not.
I always heard negative things about CarMax and was hesitant about going and look for my vehicle. Prior to going to CarMax I went to another dealership and was turned around within 10 minutes of looking. Never tried to work with me I had a very large down payment but they never asked or gave me the option. Within 15 minutes of looking for a vehicle at CarMax I was approved with a much lower down payment and a reasonable note. My sales person Charlene was awesome and took her time to explain everything so I did not leave with any unanswered question. I will defiantly be back when Im ready for another vehicle.
My sales representative was definitely 10/5 stars! Drew at the Lafayette, La location was patient, kind, knowledgeable and made sure my first CarMax experience was memorable! If you’re looking for a car, go find Drew!The reason I rated 3 stars was because when I purchased my vehicle, there was a ticket submitted to the services department regarding some interior work that needed to be done. It has been two weeks and I haven’t even heard from the department about SCHEDULING an appointment. I followed up twice and got no call back. Until I reached out to.. you guessed it, Drew! And he followed up on my behalf to find out that they are ‘really backed up on a long list and will call me as soon as they can.’Not sure if I’ll keep the car or return within the 30 days at this point.
I was shopping around for a used car for my son. Worked with my salesperson, John, and he was very professional and easy going. He didnt try to push us to buy like a lot of salespeople at other places did. He made the process a lot easier, and it was actually an enjoyable experience. I would recommend this CarMax location to anyone looking for a used vehicle; just make sure to ask for John.
Came in to sell/ trade in car. The sell part was incredible. Problem with trade in or buying no cars were available. But all in all it was a very good experience and I am telling everyone how good it was.

Less than 45,000 miles. I called Lafayette branch and someone was suppose to get back with me... Nothing..Im over this.
Several years ago, I bought a car from CarMax and had a wonderful experience so when I decided it was time to get a new car, I was sure I wanted to buy one from CarMax again. However, CarMax Lafayette completely let me down. I had the absolute worst experience. First off, it took over 5 hours for them to process the transaction. The employee helping me was new so I do not blame her for this, however, I do blame the manager. He refused to step in and help even though he could see she was struggling and that the transaction was taking way longer than it should. This would have been understandable if the manager wouldve been helping another customer but he was clearly not. He was completely available the entire time. Then a few weeks later I needed some information about my car and had to deal with this same location again. I called over 5 times and every time I called, they told me the manager would call me back and of course he never did. Finally, I called and one of the employees was able to answer my question. When I asked why the manager never called me back, he completely brushed off the question. I wish I could give this place 0 stars or better yet give the manager 0 stars.

Sales team was ok.. Management needs to take classes on how to communicate with customers, lack of communication with each other as staff I have been waiting on a part for my car for a month. This is the same part that was told to me was order the day I bought my car. Service team also did not check my vehicle I have to take it somewhere else to be fixed and carmax had my car first. Overall if it wasnt for the sales team I wouldnt have gave them any stars.

I only gave them one star because you have to. My family has purchased eight vehicles from Carmax over the years and never had a problem. The Lafayette location opened and we were excited not to have to travel 45 minutes for our next car purchase. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE JOKERS. Their customer service is base at best. Just absolutely terrible. Paid $40k for a vehicle to break down before 30 days. I have much more to say but I don’t feel like writing even more of a novel. DO NOT BUY FROM CARMAX LAFAYETTE

This place is horrible, unprofessional, and operated by liars, this locations sells faulty equipment and cars even under warranty they’ll still expect for you to come out of pocket or some type of mishap. After the first day o got my car the brake lights went out then a two months later alternator and battery stopped working. I was told I was not under warranty I talked to someone else and I was told I was under warranty, I still came out of my pockets because my car had been broke for a week. Finally get intouch with someone who was willing to help, this person also lied to me about reimbursing my money they are a rip off.
It was easy to get everything started online. The customer service agents were friendly and very helpful. To the ladies that we worked with in the store. Everyone was exceptional and I will recommend to everyone to purchase their vehicles here.

It took 7 hours to purchase a vehicle ! Horrible experience our salesman was very under trained or extremely new. I was not given options for extended warranties or anything. Then I receive a phone call 5 in a row while I was at work saying the paperwork was done wrong and we needed to respond back with signatures or our financing would be voided!! I have bought vehicles there before but this will have me thinking twice before going back

The car wasn’t cleaned properly, wasn’t detailed correctly. The sales experience was good but you need to have the car showroom ready to sell to the customer. Need to have more knowledge of the vehicles that you are trying to sell to the customer. Nobody has ever reached out to me since the sale, hasn’t asked me what I think about the car, and the service department rarely answers their phone. I’ve called 3x to try to get my suv seen for the noise that started happening as soon as I drove it home off the lot. Professionalism needs to be fundamental whenever you sell anything and the professionalism is definitely not there when it comes to dealing with customers. My saleswoman was great though. She was kind, she explained the process we were going thru but I feel that like I said before, her service team was the ones that let her down.

The process was incredibly easy. I found the car I wanted and had it transferred with no obligation to buy. I also had a trade in that they gave me above KBB value. The only con I had was they don’t do a good job of cleaning the interior and the previous owner smoked in it. There is still a lingering smell. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience and everyone was professional and courteous.
The people were very trustworthy not at all like what, give me your vin said, will never advise anyone to use them, they are the untrusting, enjoyed doing business with Carmax

Been waiting to get a car that was transferred from Houston, since last Wednesday. They claim they are running the last check on it. Going on 2 weeks and still haven’t gotten a call saying that the car is ready. Have never dealt with the slowness and being given the run around when trying to purchase a car. Fast and easy huh? Not all . Then when we called, they couldn’t even give us a date when it would be ready. And the date was supposed to be the 27th! NEXT! Also, they sold our friend car when it was supposed to be reserved ! Also she is still waiting on this so called “FINAL CHECK” .
The car was delivered sooner than I expected. The process was very smooth and I am very happy with the car.
I would’ve given a 1 star review if another associate didn’t help me. The Lafayette location is where we purchased our vehicle and we got a sales person by the name of Tyler. He was so rude. Felt rushed the entire time. We couldn’t understand how to add a few things to our insurance and he kept catching a attitude making us feel dumb instead of trying to explain to us. Also with showing SSI statements he caught a attitude with me. Anytime he wasn’t typing something easy on the computer, he was on his phone. Every. Chance. It was so bad to the point i told Him “I’m not sure why you have an attitude. I’m trying to explain to you what’s going on. And I’d like someone else” he should not be a sales person with customers. thank gosh for DeeJay, because she was awesome and super nice and sweet. If she could’ve gotten all the credit, it should have gone to her.

It was horrible on Saturday the 8th of May, it will be 3 weeks since I purchased my 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. It is running horribly and is now in the shop at Volkswagen. I was given a unclean loner that runs just as worse as my new vehicle. I dont know what to think. I was referred to CarMax and they came highly recommended and I am beginning to second guess.

We sold a Toyota Highlander to Carmax and it was the easiest transaction. Everyone was super nice and pleasant to be around. The appraisal came back better than expected. Highly recommend seeing them before going to a regular dealership. One dealer told me there would be no way they could offer the price we received from Carmax.

I went in worried that with my credit I would not be able to get a car. I sold my car to them so I could buy a better car, and my sales lady made the process such a great experience. I walked out with a 2017 Ford Focus.. fully loaded with all the features I always wanted in a car I thought I would not own a car like this until I am done with school working in my field! But it is mine!! On top of that I also left with a check for $1000!! I will never buy a car elsewhere. CarMax has a customer for life!

There are no hidden fees and no sales pressure of any kind. Their website is very easy and fun to use. Highly recommended!

From the minute, and I really mean the minute (my phone was probably ringing within a minute or two with a call from CarMax regarding my request) I sent the email to request a test drive in my Ford Escape till the minute I drove it off the lot, everyone was great - went way above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. I cant say enough good thing about the team at CarMax - amazing team.
Today wasnt the best day in customer service for carmax Lafayette, we had to wait an hour to even get talked to,an hour passed and had to wait for an extra hour cause the guy forgot to put us on the waiting listi went with cash to purchase a car full pay out maybe next time.plz consider this comment and get it together carmax

First day getting quote on my moms car was easy! After that the lack of communication was unbelievable!!!I continually called and emailed which I was told would be the best way to reach the associate that helped me. I’m still waiting for that return phone call and email as they never happened.My last phone call to Lafayette store was rerouted to Georgia, there I had a very understanding person who took the time to explain how the process should have taken place. He told me to take necessary docs and quote back to store and tell them we were ready to sell. No need whatsoever to talk to the original person I first dealt with. It would have been nice had this person told me this up front but a big fail on his part!The last person we spoke with was named Xander, very professional and got us taken care of very quickly. I give him 5 stars but the rest of the process before that only a 2 as it was not necessary to go through all of that.Now knowing the full process I would sell another car to them if necessary as we did get a good deal on moms car.

I was treated like a person should be treated when buying something- a customer. I gave up negotiating with conventional car dealers and compared Carmax prices tto theirs and realized they were about the same if not better at Carmax. Factor in the warranty and convenience and Carmax wins every time.

The service we received at the Lafayette store was Great fast and friendly the experience we had with the shipping was a different story it took 10 days for the car to reach the Lafayette store and it was in the same state. On the plus side they did refund the shipping charges we paid because of the inconvenience if not for the shipping problem I would have given 5 stars.
