A must-stop in, and the true winner between all the cafes down town. If youre looking for the best food, real food, Java Roaster has the best options for you by a landslide. They make great coffee, refills only 50 cents, and I think the cafe has the best interior design aswell. Take a picture with any number of murals on the wall you old soul while listening to Time of the Season by the Zombies or a cover of Hallelujah.

This coffee shop is great! Its quiet and has comfortable seating. Perfect place for when you want to break away from the busier places around. Its smack in the middle of downtown Lafayette, so accessibility is great. Not too sure about the parking; I came here on a Saturday afternoon and didnt have issues with parking. I didnt try the food, but Ill be back for sure. The prices are great too!Note: Theres only one restroom, which wasnt a problem for a not-so-busy Saturday afternoon, but it could be a potential problem if the place got busy.

Our favorite place not just for the coffee and bagels but the whole atmosphere. Its just cozy. Staff is great. The menu is simple, not overwhelming with selection. Music is set at relaxing volume. Its always clean. And theres cupcakes!!! Every coffee drinker in Lafayette should give this local shop a visit. Why support a chain shop when you can support local business that is of a higher quality!

One of my favorite local coffee shops for 7+ years. Always has the best indie/alternative music playing and has an overall cool atmosphere and decor (with lots of great exposed brick). Plenty of seating and wifi to study or work remotely.

I was looking for a nice place to hang out while I waited for my husband. This is a very cozy atmosphere with music playing, Wi-Fi available, several affordable snacks and drinks to get while you hang out. The young lady behind the counter was very helpful.

Ive been meaning to write a review for a minute. Every time I go to this snug coffee shop, the barista Sarah is so patient and kind. Currently shes the only one behind the counter, and even when there are a lot of orders she has to get through she does so with grace and calm. I love their veggie quesadilla and all their coffees are good and reasonably priced. Definitely going to be a regular here!

Food and vibe is good, but service is lacking. They messed up my order all 3 times I was in there and had a ridiculous wait time for only having like, two customers.

This is my favorite coffee house in the West Laf/Lafayette area. Ive been coming here for years and have finished countless hours of homework at this place. That said, I enjoy Java for the atmosphere. Everything else is good as well. My parents, when they visited, always enjoyed the blueberry coffee cake. Its also a good spot for a date!

When I ended up my coffee, there was a piece of hand towel. I didnt know until I opened the to-go lid.You can see the white spot on the bottom of the cup.

Java Roster is a great little coffee shop in downtown Lafayette. Coffee is always flavorful and well prepared. A number of salads, sandwiches, and baked treats are available. The lounge upstairs has a nice mix of comfort chairs and intimate table for 2.

Absolutely amazing atmosphere & customer service! As a socially awkward person he even made me feel comfortable and helped me with my order. THAT is saying a lot! Awesome food & worth every penny! Absolutely will be back & I recommend everybody try this place out, you will NOT regret it!!!😁👍🏻

Always love my visits to Java Roaster. I mostly go for the quiet ambience And convenient location, its a great place to meet someone downtown for a quick meeting, or a long conversation. The coffee tastes great, and the food is wonderful for a savory, filling breakfast. Would recommend to any out-of-towner, local business person, or searching regular!

The ladies here are extra nice and they make a great cappuccino. I had an everything bagel (which alone makes this a great place for a New York transplant), and the feel of the place is inviting and warm. Its a good place for a quick bite.

This place is super cute and very quiet if you need to work on anything. My friend and I got the Dirty Hippie (I believe thats what its called) coffee and it was really good. Would recommend!

Super not impressed when we were in there a month ago. Might have been an off experience, but it was weird enough not to want to go back. Coffee was fine, but the barista was really rude and didnt acknowledge us beyond handing us our cups and taking our money. It was actually kind of creepy. No smile or anything, and we were really friendly. It had a bit of a voodoo vibe in there, too. Just not my kind of hang.

Small, cozy place with 2 floors. Has a couple small tables outside. Can get super busy at lunch time, especially if having specials. That can make it a bit hectic and loud. Its right across from the courthouse, do a great place to run if you need a caffeine boost.

Ive been going here for years, theyve made many great improvements to the venue and menu. Food takes a little longer than desired, drinks are good though (Italian sodas especially - just make sure to request light ice). Id love to see some local musicians start playing there again!

Amazing atomosphere. The food is astounding and insanely cheap for how awesome it is. The staff is super friendly and down to Earth. Ive been eating here for the past week now and it is always fresh as can be. Also the music played inside is always really good jams.

I really like it here. I am sad they cut down their lunch menu in the last year or so but the quality remains. They are very pleasant and it is a great place to work, read, relax or get coffee with friends. Its a real gem.

A great alternative to Starbucks. Their coffee is high quality, and cheaper than other coffee chains. The page has a very relaxed atmosphere which is great for studying, reading, or light conversation.

Not sure how I feel about this yet, the woman working the next time was pretty rude and made a point of correcting me on how I ordered my drink... like the reverse of the Starbucks cliche. They do have good prices and the guy working the first time I came was really nice. I was going to make this my morning routine but Im not quite sure.

Not as good as you would expect from a place in a very attractive location like this. Place smells and their cappuccino which is supposed to be the next thing Cafés do after brewed coffee is nothing but coffee and milk. Would not recommend it to a friend.

Just got an iced coffee - well THEY called it an iced coffee, I call it water with ice cubes. When there is NO flavor - I mean NO FLAVOR & you ask them to remake it & it comes back just as watered down & no flavor - it is a lost cause. Expensive, lacking in taste, inconsistent quality & service... Just because you are downtown doesnt mean you should just give up quality & rely on convenience to make money. I dont think Ill be back, office coffee is better than Java Roaster.

If you want a coffee, go to Star City or Fuel. I felt like I wasted my time here, and I tried it twice just to be sure. The first time I did not know what to order, and I asked the barista a simple question of what is the Dirty Hippie? Instead of explaining the drink, he said he would make one extra special for me and he knows I would like it. Turns out, it was just a dirty chai, which I hate and would never have ordered that, but he made it for me without asking if that is what I wanted. The next time I played it safe with a simple mocha, and it was the worst mocha Ive had. No flavor, not even much espresso flavor. The only good thing about this place is the seating. There is plenty of it and you can always find a spot to sit (I assume for a reason). The prices are pretty cheap but think about what you want in an espresso beverage first.

I wouldnt recommend (1) being in a rush or (2) ordering what is referred to by the staff as a plain cappuccino (it tastes like mud). Stick to coffee because after all were not in France. Java Roaster is by far the chillest and most genuine coffee place in greater Lafayette.

Get my coffee here most mornings. $2 for a large and 50 cent refills. The flavored coffee option changes every day through the week, highlander fog is really really good! Its gets busy close to 8am, 930-10am, and 12-1pm.

Very nice coffee shop with reasonable prices and good coffee and tea! It can get a little crowded during peak hours but the seating areas very comfortable - regular chairs and tables as well as nice couches :) Havent really tried a lot of their desserts and meals but it all looks/sounds very yummy. Oh, free WIFI too! Would definitely recommend it for a study session or get-together.

The space feels a bit crowded usually, though very artsy. The drinks are a touch expensive, too. I recently visited had a frappe type drink and a strawberry lace and both were just not superb. Nice baristas, nevertheless.

Recently changed ownership. Wraps have decreased in size and are now being served with BROWN lettuce (2 weeks in a row, after bringing to managers attention). Eat there at your own risk.

Whats happened to Java Roaster? The lines for lunch used to go out the door. Today I ventured in for the first time since 2016. It was a ghost town. That should have clued me in that this would be a bad experience. The girl running the cash register didnt know how to use it or where to find items, which is surprising considering how limited the menu is now. I asked for a large ice tea. She stated that they dont have large sized cups. Ok, so I asked for the largest size they have, which seemed to confuse her. Quesadillos are on the menu (and published as a regular item on the web site), so I ordered one only to be told that its not available. I ordered biscuits and gravy. Also not available. I went with my third choice: bagel and cream cheese, along with a small garden salad. The second girl at the end of the counter whose job was to prepare orders apparently didnt understand that I ordered food because she processed other orders, but not mine. Finally, I asked nicely if she had overlooked my order, which I had to repeat back to her. After processing a few other orders, she handed me my salad. I waited and waited for my bagel and drink, which didnt seem to be in preparation. So I politely asked her again about my order. She had no clue that I ordered any other items. She toasted my bagel, placed it in the bag (with no cream cheese which I didnt find out until after I got back to my office). Now, she had forgotten about my drink, so I had to interrupt her again. Come on Java Roaster! My order wasnt that difficult. I can see why this place has dropped off the map as the go to lunch place downtown. I wont be back. One thing Ive learned from East End Grill, Red Seven and Teays River....quality and service are high because the owners are usually on site ensuring that their restaurants run properly. Other than two very young staff members, I didnt see a manager in site. Very sad.

SUCH a pretty place and love the upstairs seating. Friendly and fun staff always. But not enough outlets upstairs and the salads are just ordinary (I love the lunch combo with the free large soda though). Coffee drinks are really flavorful but not hot enough, almost just luke-warm. Wifi is fine.
